Media Create Sales: 4/21/14 – 4/27/14

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment, Bandai Namco‘s newly launched PS Vita title, was the top seller in Japan this week, moving 145,000 copies across the board.

Square Enix‘s 3DS rhythm game sequel Theatrhythm Final Fantasy: Curtain Call, also new this week, debuted in second with over 80,000 sales.

The rest of this week’s sales (outside of Yokai Watch, which managed an additional 43,000 units) were generally poor, with new games like BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma for PS Vita selling 10,000 copies, or even worse, Nippon Ichi’s If You Thought It Was Harem Paradise It Was Yandere Hell moving 4,000.

On the hardware side, 3DS XL dominates, moving 28,000 units (double last week’s numbers). PS Vita trails in second with 22,000 sales (up 4,000 from last week), and the rest of the hardware stand with the similar numbers to last week.

Next week’s sales chart should prove more favorable. It’s Golden Week right now—one of Japan’s biggest shopping seasons. Shop a lot for games, Japan!
