Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd debuts on top.

Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd

Hatsune Miku Project Diva F 2nd is the top seller in this week’s Media Create Japanese sales chart. The newly launched rhythm game sequel sold 98,000 copies on PS Vita and 60,000 on PlayStation 3.

Mario Party: Island Tour sold second best at 78,000, bringing its total sales to 210,000 in its second week. And Yokai Watch is still up there with 48,000 sales.

On the hardware side, 3DS XL sales have nearly doubled last week’s, taking the top position at 52,000—likely due to the Monster Hunter 4 3DS XL bundle. PS Vita sold second best at almost 40,000, and PlayStation 4 came in third at 23,000.

    Portable rhythm games >>>

    That anime is doing well for Yokai Watch. I hope we get the anime and game too. );

Nice boost for Wii U. Why did the 3DS XL go up so much?

    • Raiyu

      Monster Hunter 3DS XL

      • CirnoTheStrongest

        Loveplus released too

      • Elvick

I thought it would be something like that, thanks for the info!

Even though if I weren’t lazy and read the article it would have been obvious. /derp

      • Shog7n

If so why then Monster Hunter 4 should be in the list of top selling game, but it wasn’t.

  • crimsonidol

I wonder if my copy of the game also counts in. :D

And I hope customs clearing will be a bit faster this time. *presses F5 to hope for an updated status of the parcel*

  • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

Pre-tax bump sales boost and a new MH4 3DS XL

  • TheExile285

I thought PDf 2nd would do a bit better.

    • TetsuyaHikari

I didn’t. Honestly, Project Diva has been selling worse with each installment, so I’m not surprised by these numbers. Well, I think Project Diva 2nd probably sold better than Project Diva, but yeah… It hasn’t been doing well lately, that’s for sure.

      • Shippoyasha

Still seems pretty healthy to easily clear 100k sales in first week though. I just think most gamers in Japan are spending less in general. I hope world wide sales boosts it.

        • TetsuyaHikari

Well, it only reaches over 100k because it was on Vita and PS3. Hell, even Project Diva F did that. Then again, rhythm games in general don’t really sell all that well in Japan anyway.

These just sell mainly because they carry Hatsune Miku’s name. Sure, you could argue that iDOLM@STER is a success as a rhythm game, but it’s not really regarded as such. The rhythm game aspect of it, much like Dream C Club, is just considered a minigame.

  • Stealth

I am absolutely shocked. I thought the Vita would be first place for sure.

These have been amazing software weeks for PS3/Vita, the next few weeks it is the 3DS’s turn (cannot wait for FF Curtain Call).

PS, why has Yokai Watch not been localized?

    • Renaldi Saputra

      level5 still considering it

  • Renaldi Saputra

the reason why in recent time PSV sales went very high bcos of this

  • Impressionnant

    Vita is saved?

    • Renaldi Saputra

in Japan Vita is not threatened

  • maruhadapurpurine

Funny how I have heard ppl saying that Japan has embraced mobile, and hardcore portable gaming was weakening there, but look how well the Vita is doing there with so many games released. Meanwhile, on the west there is barely anything being released on the Vita, cmon Sony, get your shit together.

    • Renaldi Saputra

Sony had done anything they can like localizing games from SCE, just they, Big Developer who are rather reluctant to localize their PS Vita games

    • RedSuisei

This year there’s a lot of Japan Vita games getting localized though.

    • Budgiecat

      weak numbers imo

  • Six

I thought Miku would do better. Probably should have released on Vita first, and then a PS3 version a few months later like the first game.

  • SuperLuigi

Dang it Japan buy some PS4s! Just got mine last weekend and I want jrpgs besides square enix titles. Good jump for 3ds thanks to the MH 4 XL

  • Northstar

  • 罪罰

    Vita got Boost Power.

  • DarthBrian

    Yay Miku! ^_^

  • Arcana Gear

    So many Vita’s :,)

  • desponent

I guess having old songs as half of the playlist really help Miku did it worse than the first game.

Get off your lazy ass Sega.

  • Eder García

    so many Vita titles…
3DS did well with those bundles. PS4 is waiting for those trademarked japanese games. those WiiU sales tho!
    Miku>Mario … sadly for me
Love + is officially dead, Konami is one step closer to become Metal Gear Studios

  • Renzouri

A Vita title on the first of the list…my memory might be going bad, but this is a first, isn’t it? Please correct me if I’m wrong — good job on Miku fans either way~

    • Kayseur

No, it’s not the first time it happened. God Eater 2 did the same, maybe some others as well but I don’t remember anything else right now.

Edit : Well, Persona 4 Golden did it as well, and so did the first Project Diva. Basically the big names.

    • desponent

      It happened many times before.

    • artemisthemp

Soul Sacrifice, God Eater… I think Persona 4 Golden also

  • Articuno76

Wow. Vita is kicking all kinds of ass. Maybe a two-horse handheld-race isn’t that farfetched.

  • blank059

Decent sales for Miku. Also good to see a bump in sales for current gen handhelds.
