Official candidate for one of this year's worst kept secrets.

The Last of Us Remastered Leaked

Sony’s own PlayStation Store has leaked the rumored PlayStation 4 version of The Last of Us, which will be called The Last of Us Remastered.

A banner ad for the game appeared, and as of press time is still available, on the web version of the U.S. store today. Here’s the image on Sony’s server, in case it’s removed from the page.

Clicking the banner ad leads to a 404 error.

The PlayStation 4 version was first (accidently) ‘confirmed‘ two weeks ago by PlayStation Turkey vice president Sercan Sulun. A Spanish retailer shortly after began listing a “Complete Edition” of the game.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

              lol, noted :P

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Honestly, despite there being ways to deal with this on paper, the reality of the situation doesn’t allow these methods to work. You can choose to buy it or not, but it really wouldn’t change the outcome one way or another.

Even if TLOU didn’t sell as much as it did on PS3, they’d still have enough money to pull this off.

    • ragingmerifes

tbh, I think it’s aimed at people who didn’t play the original, since a lot of PS4 owners are former X360 people.
And I don’t see why it wouldn’t cost 60, after all it’s an AAA game. A port, but still an AAA game.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

A lot of PS4 owners are former XBOX 360 people…? Where, dare I ask, did you pull that statistic from? That’s like saying “Oh, a lot of people who bought a XBOX One were former PS3 people.”

It doesn’t really make a whole lot of sense X3

        • Elvick

Because there are a lot of people that have said as much around the internet.

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Just because a lot of people said something on the Internet doesn’t make it true :3

            • BossTuff

Anecdotal evidence is the best evidence, at least I read that somewhere online…

            • Elvick

And just because you don’t see something, doesn’t mean it’s not there.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

And just because you see something doesn’t make it true. We can do this dance all day, man. Unfortunately, I already know how this is going to end, so let’s just leave it at that instead of going back and forth reiterating our points since neither of us will budge and you know it as well as I do.

  • badmoogle

You gotta love those intentional “leaks”!

If it’s so easy for something like this to get “leaked” then why there are never any Last Guardian leaks or from other Sony secret projects?

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Hell, even The Last of Us’ Facebook page updated with the leak and it’s supposed to be run by officials, lol. Why are they posting it if it’s a leak and if they’re comfortable with posting it, then why are they surprised when they say it’s a leak? I don’t even.

      • Zackasaur

lol That never happened unless it got deleted… Which I don’t think is likely. I think you might be accidentally following one of the unofficial TLoU pages.

        This is the official one:
        https://www.facebook.com/TLOUps3

Edit: Unless you’re talking about the post they made -today-… But I’m quite sure that they said, “fuck it” and had fun with it, because they knew today was the announcement day anyway.

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Yeah, I’m following the official page. I was talking about the link they posted from IGN talking about the leak from 21 hours ago. I’m not sure why they would post that if they didn’t want it to be made public knowledge since they’re officials, but still… I guess it didn’t hurt too much anyway since they went ahead and posted an official announcement within 24 hours after it was leaked.

  • Gigus

This better come with the story dlc.

  • Impressionnant

Don’t give us new games, Sony. We only want ports. Yeah.

    • Zackasaur

Neither is interfering with the other in the slightest.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

This just in! Naughty Dog delays Uncharted 4 to work on The Last of Us port for PS4!

Yeeeah… Those resources are being pulled from somewhere, man. Every less man working on Uncharted 4 is one more man working on a port of TLOU.

        • Bobby Jennings

          Agreed.

        • Articuno76

          These things are normally outsourced.

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Normally, yes, but not all the time. I wonder how much further FFXV or KH3 got pushed back just to bring in people to help with the X/X-2 HD port. I wouldn’t be surprised if Uncharted 4 is put on hold until this is pushed out before they get back to work on that and go full throttle.

            • Elvick

              Then you’d be wrong.

And not all outsourced ports have issues. Bluepoint Games does good port work, Sanzaru did great with Sly Collection. And Curve Studios does tons of porting for indie games to PlayStation systems and they do it with perfection.

Tomb Raider: DF was also outsourced and is great.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

                Wrong? No.

Just because things have went well before doesn’t automatically mean they will again. Much how if their record consisted of them failing all the time, it doesn’t automatically mean they will fail the next time either. Let’s just wait and see what happens.

            • Articuno76

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster were outsourced to a Chinese company.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

The PS4 was also outsourced to a Chinese company rather than being manufactured by Sony themselves. I’m not sure what you’re getting at here. Regardless, I’ve made my point and you’ve made yours, so let’s just leave it at that.

I hope the port of TLOU does well since I enjoyed the game on PS3, just don’t be surprised if there are some new issues or unresolved issues from the PS3 version, that’s all I’m saying.

                • Articuno76

My point is that it isn’t the case that hands working on one game have been pulled off it to work on ports: there are studios out there that almost exclusively deal with porting/HD remastering.

If there are resources being diverted for ports or HD remasters then it is funding, not people, that is being diverted.

                  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

                    Funding =/= People

                    I get your point though.

        • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Like @Articuno76:disqus said, these are usually outsourced to other studios with minimal work from the original developer. Also, just to clarify, the Uncharted 4 team is different from The Last of Us team. If there’s anyone from Naughty Dog working on this port, and I’m sure there’s some effort on their end, it’s people who aren’t working on Uncharted 4 and were likely never meant to.

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I suppose there’s some truth there, but I’ve seen some QA testers stick around and such for stuff like this, which is why I said I wouldn’t be surprised if they had help from the old team to make things run smoother. Normally, I probably would say it would be outsourced, but with a game this big… I don’t think they’d take the risk of having someone botch their project and have it running at 30FPS on PS4 instead of 60FPS (just an example).

You see far too many glitches when these ports are outsourced, so it wouldn’t surprise me at all if they did it themselves or at least sent some help to make sure things were going in the right direction.

    • AdamBoy64

      PortStation 4?

  • Bobby Jennings

I mean this game is nice and all, but jesus with these ports.

    New games please.

  • Elvick

*sigh* Can’t believe people think that a port takes away resources from new games…

    Please just stop talking.

The only way a port would affect new development would be an indie developer with extremely limited resources. Short of them agreeing to a deal with a port company like Curve Studios to do the port while they (the indie) continue to work on a new game.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

*sigh* Can’t believe people think that a port that is outsourced will always be a successful port.

      Please just stop talking.

      • Zackasaur

They won’t always, but this one will. TLoU is too important to Sony not to be handed to the best of the best. This is obvious.

In the end, Sony pays a little and gets an excellent PS4 remaster of TLoU without losing anything from the new games they are making.

Win-win. Win-win-win if you factor in all the gamers who will buy and enjoy it.

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

          Well, I hope you’re right.

  • bloodiOS

Well, given that the original game is still $59.99 on PSN, I don’t see why they would price the PS4 version any less, given that it also got a $19.99 DLC bundled with it (among other stuffs.)

    • Paul Rodriguez

Still not worth it. The physical copy of the game sells for $20 less. Wasn’t the story DLC less than $20? I’m not counting the random pointless $0.99 DLC.

      • bloodiOS

$19.99 on PSN, and not to mention that there is a $12.99 map pack, too.

  • Paul Rodriguez

I’ve yet to play the game. I had an unopened copy of the game for a few months and gave it away since I had no interest in playing the game at the time. I think part of it was how crazy annoying people were when it came to this game. Probably turned me off. The craze has since died down. If the price of the PS4 version is good I’ll consider it. $60 for an almost 1 year old game does not seem worth it.

  • DarthBrian

It’s up for pre-order on Amazon right now.

    http://www.amazon.com/The-Last-Us-Remastered-PlayStation-4/dp/B00JK00S0S/

I’ll be getting it asap. I can’t play the game on my PS3. It crashes the machine after about 15 minutes to an hour of gameplay. So I’ll gladly pay for the PS4 version so I can finally play the damn thing.

  • Paul Rodriguez

I don’t see this stopping or slowing down development of the next Uncharted game. The amount of resources used for a port would be minimal. I wouldn’t be surprised if another studio handled the PS4 port.

  • Budgiecat

Upgrade the enemy A.I. like you originally promised then maybe we can talk!
