Having no gameplay in this trailer is a BAD idea. I was considering getting this since I’m trying to open up to dungeon crawler JRPGs, getting Moero Chronicle, but this video did nothing to tell me why I should buy the game.

    Ok rant off, yeesh

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I posted it a few times before, but here’s some gameplay.

      • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

        Sweet thanks

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

No problem. I actually like the game, but if you’re not into dungeon RPGs, you may see very little reason to get this one.

          • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

Well I do like the character art and I’d like to open up to them more than i have.

Aksys wouldn’t have brought the game over if they didn’t feel there wasn’t a market for it…..*dives in head first with blinders on*

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I hope you’re being sarcastic, lol. They’re bringing Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi and there’s certainly not a market for that here.

              • Pyrofrost

I dunno, they must have found at least a small market here for it. That’s like the 3rd or 4th Hakuoki game they released, and they have released other VNs as well.

                • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Yeah. There’s a niche crowd for dungeon RPGs too, but I wouldn’t necessarily say there’s a market for it.

              • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

Oh no I’ll give it a go, the part about Aksys though I guess I’m not familiar with a lot of their work lol

      • The Ash

I am a sucker for anything romantic. So, can the main guy hook up with any gurls in the ending?
This will seriously affect my decision to buy it or not :P
Its time Persona and such games learn from SAO game.

        • Pyrofrost

          Lol, HAHAHAHA.

          >>Its time Persona and such games learn from SAO game.

          Seriously, thanks for that.

          • The Ash

            You are welcome :D

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

          >So, can the main guy hook up with any gurls in the ending?

          No.

          • The Ash
            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

If you’re playing a dungeon RPG for a waifu, you’re doing it wrong.

          • The Ash

Btw, serious question now about the game. How is the story and no. of hours of playtime? In both p3p and p4g while the gameplay was interesting, after 20-30 hours, it felt stale to me and I just wanted to progress in story, skipping gameplay as much as possible. Is the story here gripping enough till the end?

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

The story is nice, yes, but you’ll be frustrated when you finish it since it really leaves some loose ends, which implies there will be a Mind One at some point, but if you’re alright with that… Go for it. As for the gameplay… It’s a dungeon RPG. People who enjoy these games, like myself, can invest hundreds of hours into them.

Otherwise, things will get stale after the first 5-10.

              • The Ash

Thanks for that. I will keep an eye out for it.
The japanese sales number doesn’t paint a happy picture for a possible sequel though.

                • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Eh, it’s Zero Div. Their Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono. games don’t sell much either, but they kept making those for a while (they may even make a new one for Vita later). Dungeon RPGs never sell well, regardless of the region.

              • Budgiecat

You understood the story in Japanese?

                • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Er… Why wouldn’t I? Even the kanji and stuff I can’t pick up on, it’s alright since there’s a lot of voice work in the game, which is nice for those that understand speaking it better than reading it (although you’re supposed to understand reading better than speaking, lol).

  • Sentsuizan_93

Perfect. A day after I finish my exams.

  • Pyrofrost

A good game, but definitely not good enough for me to double dip on.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I don’t blame you, honestly. Maybe we’ll see a Mind One in the next couple of years or so though. Zero certainly can’t be all there is…

      • Pyrofrost

Agreed, but if it get’s a PS+ deal like other games published by Aksys tend to do. I will probably get it, just because xD

  • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Everything is in May. Like seriously. My wallet be cry.

  • https://twitter.com/Stealth___ Stealth

    looking forward to that one

  • Pyrofrost

Here is the music video for the opening btw, I fucking love this song!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acSqCGuLmDw

    • GODDUKEMONEXA

now imagine this song with Shihoko Hirata feat. Yumi Kawamura!

      • Pyrofrost

Hmmmm, to be honest, that’s kinda hard to imagine. They sound different and their style is different. By the same token, it would be hard to imagine Yukari doing one of their songs.

    • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

      Wow, very nice.

Any idea if Aksys is giving us subs or will the game just be dubbed?

      • Pyrofrost

I can’t say, Aksys hasn’t spoken on it.

It’s doesn’t seem like a game that would be big enough to bother investing in a English track; however, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they announced it. xD

  • LastBoss

    Hell Yes!!!

    Day 0

I hope we get Extetra too.

  • pekot

A lot of games for vita this year

  • Budgiecat

I hate trailers with no gameplay footage. Its a game not a goddamn music video…

    • Ghost Doge

It’s a trailer for the sake of advertising and hype. It’s your responsibility as a potential buyer to do a little research and see if the product is for you so you don’t end up making an uninformed purchase! :D

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Good advice. The game has been out long enough in Japan for him to find plenty of material for viewing.

        • Budgiecat

I’m not talking about me I’m talking about the sake of the poor ignorant filthy mainstream Western casuals who couldn’t care less to research stuff from crazy Japan!

          • MrFinalgamer

Now, why would a “poor ignorant filthy mainstream Western casual” be looking into buying a game like this? They will most likely be complaining that the Vita has no games, and saying they don’t want shit like this. If anything, this game will sell to the Persona fanbase. (for obvious reasons)

            • Budgiecat

Or the Persona fanbase might stick their nose in the air and turn their heads at ‘such an inferior obvious clone’…

the filthy casual despite complaining, still has a Vita ‘with no games on it’, and as such, that is a frustrating predicament of itself, so there still would be a chance to reach out to them provided the marketing effort is right.

Certainly no localizer aims for mediocrity in sales…

              • MrFinalgamer

The Vita has a lot of niche RPGs, a couple of visual novels, and a goldmine of indie games. If these people complain about the vita not having games, I doubt this will change their mind, specially if it’s an inferior clone of a popular game.

Though, I have to admit, you’re right about the persona fanbase…or at least i hope so.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

                >Persona fanbase

The Persona fanbase isn’t going to give two shits about this game and will ignore it (or probably remain oblivious to its existence altogether). Yes, there are similarities with Persona, but above all else… It’s a dungeon RPG and those go unnoticed 9 out of 10 times, regardless of what inspired the game.

                • OverlordZetta

I dunno, Persona fanbase is getting pulled into DRPGs over Q, not to mention P1 had some DRPG elements. It wouldn’t be unheard of for a lot of them to be interested – as is the case from what I’ve seen.

                • Budgiecat

So with such low success odds…….why bother…

                  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Shitty games get released on a daily basis… Not that I’m saying this game is shitty, but it really makes me wonder why you’re surprised if a company releases something with “low success odds” >.>

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Pretty much. Dungeon RPGs don’t get a whole lot of love in NA anyway… “Filthy mainstream Western casuals” or not, lol.

      • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

        Nice advice

      • Budgiecat

thats it no dog food for you…

        • Ghost Doge

Oh it’s all good. I already helped myself to your month’s supply of kitty chow! 8D

    • Elvick

Meh, gameplay trailers for games like this don’t really do anything.

People who don’t like first-person dungeon crawlers won’t be turned on by it. And people who do like them, know what to expect from it… and they’d likely know what this game is, since it’s a super niche genre.

      • Budgiecat

        hooray for low expectations…

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Hooray for different interests. It has nothing to do with expectations, man. It’s incredibly difficult to convince someone to become interested in dungeon RPGs if they never were to begin with.

This is one of those genres you either love or hate and it’s always been that way. See, I started waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the early days of Wizardry, so I’ve been playing them for decades now. However, someone that never played one before would pick something like this up and immediately compare it to open world RPGs and wonder why the game is so bare bones, then ask themselves why they should even bother with it.

  • orzorzorz

torn on whether or not to get this. i love first-person DRPGs and definitely want to support publishers when they bring them over, but i’m not sure it interests me enough to buy

    • Zechs

I feel the same. Not really feeling this game. Maybe I’ll get it when the price drops. :/
