Quite surprised about the numbers for Harvest Moon. Didn’t expect that it would have such a good launch.

And nearly all hardware seems to sell better than last week (except Wii U :/ )

    • Kiryu

The Wii U has no future,it is selling even worse then the Gamecube. If only Nintendo were not as stubborn they would be better off.

  • Vayne

PS4 dropped, as was to be expected.

  • Stealth

I can see 3DS overtaking PS4 at this rate with a new first party Yoshi and Pokemon. Still not happy about Hardware overall.

    • Sanquine

LOL, it’s a country where they love there portables. Not so suprising. Glad vita doing is better and the 3DS keeps crushing everything.

      • Stealth

harvest moon had its biggest opening ever for a series.

FYI I want to ask you a private question, hit me up on twitter when you have the time.

    • bloodiOS

? What overtaking? It already is selling more than the PS4.

      • The Ash

In Japan, yes, and it will continue. Worldwide, no. PS4 is the most selling gaming console of 2014, and has sold few hundred thousand units more over 3DS this year only, and the gap will only widen.
PS4 will easily be most selling console of 2014, and for few more years.

        • bloodiOS

I mean its LTD already is already higher than the PS4’s, what overtaking does it really need?

          • The Ash

Sorry then. I thought that you were talking about 2014 (this year). 3DS launched 3 years ago, so its natural its ahead LTD. Hell, Vita is also ahead.
            PS4 leads sales now though.

            • bloodiOS

Honestly, even if the PS4 is off to a bad start in Japan, it shouldn’t really matter since eventually, it’s going to be the only viable home console left in the country anyway.

    • shogunknight

I dont think nintendo or anyone would be worried about 3ds sales whether it surpasses ps4 in japan or not. they should be focused on how to turn things around for wiiU. Its abysmal

  • Elvick

Wonder how many PS4s are currently out there to buy.

    Nice raise on Vita.

Another slight raise in PS Vita TV. Hm. Not a lot though, so could still be a coincidence, rather than PS4 influenced.

  • Sanquine

Hope to see the vita raise some more because Soul sacrafice Delta is near.

  • Ksatmata

I miss Harvest Moon playstation version

  • bloodiOS

Good week for anything that isn’t the Wii U. What a drop for the PS4, but I have to wonder if it’s due to supply or demand though.

  • Budgiecat

Hopefully the PS4 stays on top. For a long time. And convince Japanese developers to stop wasting time making garbage mobile phone games and start making good console games again…

    • bloodiOS

With the games currently available for it? You dream xD

      • Budgiecat

        shhh…there there now….we will get better games…

        • bloodiOS

Aw, don’t cry! Nice to see your cat being supportive though.

          • Budgiecat

keep calm no need to be upset…

            • bloodiOS

?… Am I misunderstanding something here?
              Why would I be upset?

              • Budgiecat

You’re that human in the video and I am soothing you….

                • bloodiOS

That’s rather odd considering you’re the one who needs consolation.

    • Stealth

Its probably going to stay on top for 1, maybe 2 more weeks tops.

    • DXVII

lol I can’t agree with this more.

  • Blaz

    [PSV] Infinite Statos 2: Ignition Hearts (5pb., 02/27/14) – 15,213 (New)

You have a typo there, Infinite StRatos.

  • 武神水樹

Knack sales are irrelevant, the game is free with the system

    • bloodiOS

People bought the PS4 because of Knack xD

      • Erimgard

        Spoiler: No they didn’t.

        • Altin

Spoiler Spoiler: Bundled games are still games. Otherwise games like Tetris and Wii Sports would not have such high sale numbers.

        • bloodiOS

          Why so serious?

  • Takane Shijou

Hoping we’ll hear some type of news about Harvest Moon and a NA/EU release at some point in the near future. But it’s good to see it’s selling decently and such.

  • SuperLuigi

Looking at this makes me think of how bad SEGA is at localization of other titles than sonic. I mean I like sonic and boom looks fun but come on. I want pso2 and yakuza 5.

    • Nightcore34

Agree with the PS02 but isn’t sonic mostly a guaranteed localisation? I thought there was no question just it will be localised always.

      • SuperLuigi

Well sonic boom is not coming out in japan. The show or the game.

        • Nightcore34

Oh right, I though it was guaranteed everywhere cause for me I know it’s been a part of my life so I though it might be the same everywhere. Thanks.

  • Lavos

Sony selling PS4s, but no games. If people don’t buy PSN+ to play online (which they probably won’t since PSN+ JP gives almost no free games and they have no game to play online – Most sold games of PS4 is Yakuza Ishin and Knack) Sony is going to end up in a loss.

    • shogunknight

You dont need PS+ to play FFXIV, Warframe or Blacklight retribution. So the japanese have knack and some games to while away their time before MGS or any other title comes out

      • ShadowFang

Warframe & Blacklight aren’t launching in Japan. Their lineup of online f2p games is different (it includes Onigiri, I know that much)

  • artemisthemp

Sony sells better than 3DS :)

  • David Curry

I want to see one of the major gaming websites make a comprehensive investigative article, explaining why consoles in Japan are in decline. I have my own assumptions (PS2 and Wii’s success hid the reality that Japan wants everything mobile, and the “Famicom generation” actually grew up and lost interest in games during the early ’00s), but I’m just one guy with only so many resources. If we’re looking at one of the major gaming markets ignoring an ENTIRE generation of video games except 3DS (and, haha, Vita), the Western gaming community and industry would like an explanation from a trustworthy (and English-speaking) source.
