Falcom has provided first story details, character information, and new screenshots of The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki II, its upcoming PlayStation 3 and PS Vita RPG sequel due out in Japan later this year.
Find the prologue detailed below. (Warning: spoilers from the first game.)
Prologue
A gunshot that changed the fate of an empire.
Stemming from the shooting of blood and iron prime minister Gilias Osborne, the imperial capital of Heimdall was captured.
And then, when a giant flying battleship called “Pantagruel” appeared, the relationship of power within the empire was changed completely by a battalion of the mechanized human-like weapons called “Armored Soldiers.” And a civil war involving the entire nation began.
With an overwhelming amount of material resources and new weapons, the Aristocrat allied forces gained total control. And the highly trained soldiers and armored division stayed with the imperial army.
The civil war that began in the giant empire of Erebonia become much more violent than expected. When it would end was unknown, and the people, stricken with powerlessness, trembled at the presentiment.
Meanwhile, Rean Schwarzer of Class VII at the Thors Military Academy wakes up in a desolate mountainous area. Nearby him—a black cat able to speak human language, and a gigantic grey-colored “Knight.”
The other students of Class VII—comrades with no substitute, who together with Rean overcame many trials—were nowhere to be found.
Just as he’s about to lose consciousness, he hears the parting words from his comrades, as well as that of his own wailing and screams.
He pictures all too clearly in the back of his mind the horrifying sight of the land as it was beginning to be engulfed by war, as well as that of a blue shadow that drew near.
“Is everyone alright?”
“If we can’t get back to the academy soon—!”
Wresting himself free of the black cat’s control, Rean makes his way back down the mountain, uncertain of what lies in wait as he tries to pay no mind to the gigantic gray shadow that looms.
Such is how the tumultuous days commenced, hearkening the beginning of the end.
And here are the character details (also spoilers):
Rean Schwarzer (Age 17, Weapon: Long Sword)
CV: Kouki Uchiyama
“In that case, I’ll fight with all my might!”He is the adopted son of Baron Schwarzer and a noble of the northern imperial region. He is the main character and a member of the Special Class VII in the Thors Military Academy. He has inherited the power of the Eight Leaf Sword Style from the East, but fears the power sleeping within himself so he tries to hide his abilities. In the previous game, he was chosen to be the pilot of the mysterious human-type weapon (Cavalry God of Ash Valimars) and fought valiantly against the dangers approaching the academy, but he lost in a fight against his senior mate who piloted the Cavalry God of Blue. Unwilling to comply, he withdrew and awoke in a distant, mountainous area.
Alisa Reinford (Age 17, Weapon: Orbment Bow)
CV: Yui Horie
“I’m the one who’s supposed to ask if you’re all right!”She is the daughter of the Reinford Group, the greatest heavy industries maker in the empire. She belongs to the same Class VII as Rean, and as various happenings take place, their relationship grows. Despite her harsh manner of speaking, she’s softhearted and would never neglect someone in trouble. Her mother Elena is the president of the Reinford Group and they have a rough relationship since Alisa works hard to follow her own path. In the previous game, she stayed on the battlefield with her comrades after Rean escaped, but didn’t know if he was safe or not.
Eliot Craig (Age 16, Weapon: Magic Cane)
CV: Ryoko Shiraishi
“Eheh… Well, I believed it.”He is the son of “Red Haired Greg,” a man known as the bravest general in the Imperial Army. He has an ingenious musical talent and had hoped to enter into the Music Academy, but gave up due to his father’s severe disapproval, instead entering into Thors Military Academy. At first he resisted it, but as he overcame issues with Rean and the rest from Class VII, he began to have a brighter outlook about joining the Military Academy, and even showed a little promise. Like Alisa, at the end of the last game he also mustered his bravery and chose to remain on the battlefield, despite the dim circumstances.
Laura S. Arseid (Age 17, Weapon: Two-Handed Sword)
CV: Mariya Ise
“This body is thou ‘sword’ — That vow is expected.”She is the daughter of the Viscount Arseid, a family noted for their militant strength in the Imperial Army. As a friend of Rean and following the same path of the sword, they work together to cultivate their skills. While she has a dignified, composed, and proud personality, she can be narrow-minded when it comes to straying from a given path. However, as she becomes friends with her comrades, her heart grows to care about more than just military prowess. She also stayed on the battlefield after Rean ran, fighting valiantly.
