Idea Factory to announce release method "soon," it promises.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth 1 is coming to North America and Europe, publisher Idea Factory announced.

Due out “late summer,” the PS Vita update of the PlayStation 3 original will feature renewed event conversations, graphics, and newly added game mechanics.

The game will have both English and Japanese voice-overs.

Idea Factory hasn’t announced whether it will be a physical or download-only release, but promises “more detailed information regarding the release method and the release date” is due out soon.

Find the full story summary and a list of key features and differences from the PlayStation 3 version below. View some new screenshots at the gallery.

Gamindustri: One of many parallel universes protected by four goddesses known as CPUs. Long ago, these four CPUs engaged in a war for supremacy known as the War of the Guardians. However, this war weakened their protective hold on the world inhabited by their people, and in turn it was flooded by monsters under the influence of an individual known as Arfoire.

During the War of the Guardians, one of the CPUs—Neptune—was defeated by the others and hurled down to the world’s surface from the heavens. The drop caused Neptune to lose her memories, as learned by Compa and IF, who happen upon the fallen girl. A mysterious book containing knowledge of all Gamindustri’s history suddenly speaks out to Neptune, Compa, and IF. With the assistance of this sentient book, the trio embark on an extraordinary journey across four different nations on a quest to save the entire world!”

    digital only?

  • TheExile285

Nice! Didn’t think I’d get both Rebirth 1 and PP in the same year.

  • dark-kyon

good news, maybe this game is out before what neptunia pp,regardless psvita keep getting the goodies.

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, this came out of left field. I’m honestly surprised at all the Vita support for the West as of lately. I guess they still have faith in the handheld, but I’m not sure why…

    • dark-kyon

they know what the fanbase of this games gonna keep buying his games and do not care so much for the westerns AAA hype of ps4 and xbox one.in symple word niche company targeting niche market.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Hrm… I don’t buy that! There are plenty of niche titles they completely ignore. There must be something else at work here @w@

    • Manny Being Manny

Its because of the type of fanbase Vita has. Its an otaku oriented system, so they have no problem bringing over those types of games since those are the people who are actually buying Vita over here.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

The Vita is an “otaku oriented system” ? How do you figure? Even if it was… That would be implying that our “otaku fanbase” is actually big enough for the sales to even matter, when they don’t, lol. If what you’re suggesting is that otakus are the only one buying the Vita, then that could very well be why the Vita isn’t selling well :p

That’s a rather small community in the West, all things considered.

        • Manny Being Manny

Conception 2 sold like 4 times as many copies on Vita than 3DS in Japan, even though 3DS crushes it in sales.

Otaku are the ones who are buying Vita more.

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, that’s also Japan. We were talking about the West. Now, if you want to play that game… E.X. Troopers bombed on 3DS as well, but I’d be willing to bet my bottom dollar that it would have sold better on Vita since the 3DS is geared towards a difference audience (mostly).

Saying one handheld or another is geared towards otakus is kind of silly though. It’s mainly due to what kind of games they release on the handhelds, not the kind of people that play them.

            • Manny Being Manny

I don’t think its silly. Anime tie in games almost always go to Vita, VNs dominate Sony handhelds while Nintendo handhelds ignore them, and otaku are generally more interested in better tech which is why they were the first ones in the world to make Blu-ray the main medium. Vita just appeals far more to what otaku want then 3DS.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

                Anime games =/= otaku

Not all “anime games” are geared towards otaku. Some of these games just provide different graphics through use of more vibrant colors while trying to maintain a sort of realistic look to them (see: God Eater 2). I hardly think it’s fair for you to address a demographic as otaku simply because of the games that are put on the handheld.

Now, if we’re talking about someone who has a library with nothing but One Piece games, Dragonball games, so forth and so on, you’d be onto something there. However, by your logic… Even people interested in the Tales games should be considered “otaku” due to the games being so colorful and being on the Vita and PS3, and that’s not fair at all.

    • OverlordZetta

      >Vita support
      That’s a good one.

This is Vita support from the East coming overseas.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Ummm… It’s still being localized though, lol. Hence the support in the West. Vita isn’t doing well in the West (isn’t doing much better in the East either though), which is why I was surprised about this localization.

Keep up with the times, man :p

  • https://twitter.com/RyoonZ RyoonZ

    Wow NISA losing franchise again,
    Hope this come in retail.

    • Jesse

They’re still bringing over PP, so it’s probably just this one, and possibly Rebirth 2. =P

      • Manny Being Manny

Nah, I expect Neptunia is Idea Factory International for good now. Its Idea Factories biggest property, and it wouldn’t make sense to let other companies handle the localizations now that they’ve established an American branch.

        • http://burnpsy.wordpress.com/ burnpsy

The thing is, they handed Fairy Fencer F to NISA even more recently, and they put quite a lot of effort into that one. I’m confused. X_X

      • Anime10121

PP was picked up by NisA before IF formed their western branch. As long as they retain the dub VA’s though, I’m ok with IF localizing it… if not :(

        • Jesse

          Oh yeah. They’ll probably keep them, Recasting WOULD be kind of a pain. ^^;

    • Chestnut Bowl

I wonder about that. NISA may not be publishing, but they may still be handling the localization.

  • Maria Garcia

if its idea factory himself it will be digital almost 100% sure

  • DesmaX
    • Elvick

  • Anime10121

FINALLY! Now I’m surprised NisA isnt the one publishing this title for the west… I’m hoping IF sticks with the VA’s that NisA had! And this BETTER get a physical LE type release that NisA normally gives :V

But yeah, all that said all of my WANT!!!

  • Manny Being Manny

So, Idea Factory International. They’re a super small branch of 5 people who likely do not have the capabilities to do a physical release or a dub. But it makes total sense for them to release Neptunia games now since thats their bread and butter in the West… they’re not going to make a name for themselves releasing Monster monpiece.

I expect it’ll be a digital only sub release, and maybe they’ll look into doing more in the future when their company grows a bit more.

  • Jjilatt123

    Damn, this looks good.

I always thought the characters and story in the first game were underrated due to the bad gameplay, glad to see them revisiting it. Also glad to see IFI finally trying their hand at Neptunia, had to happen eventually with it being one of their bigger series and all.

  • http://www.cosmosgaming.com cosmosgaming

    Press release says:
    Voiceover options: Original Japanese/English voiceover
    Language format: English subtitles

So that sounds like a dub?

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

What it sounds like is that it has dual audio. This kind of gave that away:

      Original Japanese/English voiceover

      • http://www.cosmosgaming.com cosmosgaming

Sorry I phrased that wrong. What I meant to say was that it sounds like it’ll have a dub as well, since a lot of the comments I’ve seen so far are guessing it’ll be sub only.

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Ah. Yes, it will be dubbed as well if that press release is anything to go by.

    • Anime10121

Welp SCORE 1 for team Nep Nep :D

  • DarthBrian

So much good game announcements today. ^_^

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

And the day has just begun!

Well… On my side of the world anyway :p

    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

2 ports. 2 localizations. Some layoffs. A game being given to another publisher. And some indie? game for PS+. Hmm… I guess that is good? And much?

      • DarthBrian

        Cynic. >_>

And I said “game announcements”, not “game industry announcements”.

        • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

So… The ports and localizations? That is even fewer making me question much. As for good any of those would be good…

          • DarthBrian

            • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Yes. I didn’t say they weren’t. But 2 localizations. Isn’t “much” too me. Also like I said anything like that would be good. IMO.

              • MrFinalgamer

If those localkzations were VC3, and FF Type-0, would that be enough?

                • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

What do you mean enough? Besides that is still only 2 games.

                  • MrFinalgamer

…So even if we got 2 localizations of some of the most wanted portable games from last gen, that wouldn’t be enough for you!? You greedy bastard!

                    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

It is simply 2 games. How wanted they are doesn’t change how many games there are.

                    • MrFinalgamer

But those 2 games have a lot of quality in them…I would be praising the gods of we qere to get those 2 >_>

                    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Don’t get me wrong I would love to have them both, but simply based on quantity it is only 2.

              • OverlordZetta

2 Vita localization announcements in one day isn’t much?

                • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

      • OverlordZetta

The localization news has been rather good.

        • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

          All localization news is good.

  • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

    YES!!! Wooo.

  • albedo

  • z_merquise

This could be my first Neptunia game.

  • JuhRo

Definitely gonna try this out. :o

  • Nightcore34

Already own neptunia 1 on ps3 so I’ll skip this but still looking forward to mk2.

    • Anime10121

This game is almost an entirely different game than the original PS3 Neptune…

      • Nightcore34

Then I may reconsider so far of all the trailers I’ve seen which isn’t many there’s been only an improvement on gameplay and graphics.

        • refrain

That’s where you’re wrong. I’ve played the JP version. It’s one of the best (if not the best) in the series

          • Nightcore34

Hmm may have to re-think whether or not to purchase it.

        • OverlordZetta

The script has been entirely rewritten. It’s a new game entirely with a similar story.

Re;Birth 2, however, is pretty much the same game as MK2 with some gameplay tweaks and a new ending.

          I don’t get it either.

          • Nightcore34

I never played MK2 so I’m not bothered if it’s the same.

  • kirby755

First Project Diva 2nd and now Rebirth 1, this day was not going well for me at all and now it is one of good days now XD!!!

  • Nerroth

I wonder if this means we should expect IFI to also handle Re; Birth 2 SISTERS GENERATION by themselves, when the time comes?

Or, indeed, who may end up publishing Geki Noire

    • dark-kyon

well, maybe nisa need help to bring the neptunia games, now left 4 neptunia games what need announcement, maybe nisa and ifi can split the games to not get too far to japanese release.

  • Pyrofrost

Wait, I thought Vita has no games :o

    • Kenyah

      Blame the piracy on west.

  • TheExile285

    Great news. Also:

“New “Remake System”! A new system has been added to Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1: the “Remake System”! It lets players customize and make changes to the game system itself by obtaining “Plans”!”

Wow, I had no idea a system like this existed in the game. *___*

  • Wolf Star

    This made my day :)

  • http://ryuz4ki57inenglish.wordpress.com/ Thomas FROEHLICHER

    Goddam yes! What a day!

  • http://Gematsu.com Vayne

More games with horrible dub English coming.

    • BossTuff

As stated in multiple comments below *and* the press release on the Idea Factory main site:

      Voiceover options: Original Japanese/English voiceover

So just play it with the original Japanese voices…

      • artemisthemp

They sadly forgot to confirm a Psychical EU copy

        • BossTuff

They didn’t confirm that a physical copy would be released at all. :(

Again, from the press release, which is found here:

More detailed information regarding the release method and the release date will be available soon!

Also, it is listed in the article above, pretty clearly stated.

  • Reki Honoo

Hopefully if they come out with a limited edition, it’s not a online store only sale.

  • Elvick

If this is digital only, then fuck this shit. First Atelier (on Vita) then this going digital only after being lost to NISA. D:<

  • Budgiecat

Six is absent from this thread…

guess his appreciation for moeness only goes as far as Hatsune Miku despite his support for Vita games…

  • Wolf Star

    I’m sooo buying this!!

  • Guest

    OOOOOOH hell yeah.

They’re remaking the first game with Victory’s battle system? Oh god yes. I’m getting this day one.

  • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

Woohoo! I’ve been hoping for this announcement for a while. :P

  • Ace

  • Missy2835

Hopefully it comes in time for my birthday! :D

  • Rin-Coconut

Looks dope and cute lolis. Will definetely keep an eye on this game’s updates. Will be dope if it’s aphysical release. I love how it has the japanese voices too, otherwise I would have to mute the voices lol
