Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2

Konami has announced the first downloadable content for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

Due out on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE on March 25, the ‘Revelations’ add-on puts players in the role of Alucard. As the turned son of Gabriel, Alucard has shunned human life for years, hunting only creatures the night. The add-on is set just before the events of Lords of Shadow 2, where Alucard readies for his father’s return and the forthcoming battle against Satan. The plot will reveal “how the lone vampire is inextricably linked to his father’s fate.”

Alucard is equipped with his own unique abilities, including use of the Glaciem and Igneas powers, as well as the ability to transform into a wolf, swarm of bats, and even turn back time.

Didn’t they strip VERY vital story content from the first game and sell it at $9 each? They didn’t learn their lesson from the backlash before?

Welcome to modern gaming, almost every company does this DLC stuff now and it’s not going away anytime soon.

    • bloodiOS

Stripped? They spent a good long while working on those after releasing the game.

      • Unretributed

They were very essential to the overall plot of the game and they weren’t in the game. They were stripped.

If you bought just LoS and LoS 2 you’d be confused at how he suddenly went from Holy Knight to Dracula unless you bought the $20 DLC combo

        • bloodiOS

When they first worked on the original, who would know that the game would be well-received enough to warrant a sequel? It was only after the success that they started planning out the sequel and realize that it needs a proper lead-in, so come the DLCs. Both the DLC and the sequel are after-thought, and how long it took for them to work on those DLCs is already evident enough that it’s not some cut contents. They were constructed afterward, not stripped.

Did you see the post credits scene in The original game? They knew they wanted him to be Dracula from the get go. You just had to pay extra to see how.

            • bloodiOS

Of course they intended that but that isn’t the point. The point is that they didn’t know if the game will be successful enough to warrant that, which is why all we got was a tease. Had the game not been successful enough that would’ve been it right then and there, no DLC, no sequel whatsoever. It was only after the success did they finally properly plan things out with the sequel, and realize that it needs a proper lead-in which lead to the creation of the DLC. No one spends a total of 8 months to create DLC from “stripped” contents!

              • Unretributed

Then the script was stripped and not the actual gameplay.

The gameplay was just a few minutes worth of platforming, one puzzle, and a boss fight between the 2 DLC anyway so it was an obvious rush cash in.

But the script was 100% stripped to spread across 2 DLC.

                • bloodiOS

Then it simply doesn’t add up to the time it took to work on those DLC. It’s more likely that they only had mere concepts to work with and had to take time writing out a script and designing the gameplay. Cash-in, yes, but not cutting contents from the get-go.

The DLC feels too rushed and it’s not even video animated to be a stripped feature.

  • shogunknight

    Let me guess, NOT FREE

    • César H. Sandoval

Maybe when they release the “complete edition” LOL

      • shogunknight

Or a GOTY pack end of this year, a dlc so soon :(

  • MrRobbyM

DLC this early leaves a very bad taste.

  • Vayne

This game was crappy, can not remember SOTN which for me was legendary, that this shit should withdraw from the market.

  • 武神水樹

Too quick for dlc, game just came out

  • tokyobassist

The leak of this DLC is exactly why I didn’t buy the game.

  • Sae-Won Yoon

So….where’s the inevitable Simon or Victor Belomt DLC?

  • karmacoma

Didn’t this game *just* come out?

  • LustEnvy

Sweet. I’ll be getting LoS2 and the DLC, once the game plummets in price on Steam. 1080p/60fps is how I wanna play this game.

  • Budgiecat

Can we get back to this now?

    • PrinceHeir

      YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
