Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed

XSEED Games is bringing Akiba’s Trip 2 to PlayStation 3 and PS Vita in North America this summer as Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed, the publisher announced.

Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed

The game, first launched in Japan last November, takes players to Tokyo’s Akihabara district, where they’ll battle vampire-like foes in “over-the-top, highly stylized” action. It tasks players with repelling creatures known as “Synthisters,” who pray on Akihabara’s otaku patrons like vampires, but feast on their will to live and energy to socialize rather than their blood. Direct exposure to sunlight destroys Snythisters, and it’s up to players to strip enemies down and make sure they’re fully exposed to the sun’s rays.

To do this, players will roam the otaku haven of Akihabara and identify human Snythisters with the help of a handy smartphone app. To battle them, players can use everyday objects, including baseball bats, comic books, and even motherboards. Players can take an enemy’s clothing for their own use, as well.

Story-wise, you’ll act as a young man named Nanashi, who was lured into a trap and transformed into a Synthister. Fortunately, he was saved by a Synthister hunter named Shizuku, and is now sworn to save Akihabara from the Synthister threat. Together with the rest of his comrades in an organization known as the “Akiba Freedom Fighters,” the pair will uncover the truth behind the Synthister plague.

Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed will be available in both physical and digital formats with Japanese audio. XSEED are currently looking into dual audio (English voice-overs), and doesn’t plan to remove anything from the Japanese version.

Localized name changed to Akiba's Trip: Undead and Undressed.

Smarter than what Atlus did with Conception 2. One has to wonder what the heck were they doing not dropping the “2” when they clearly had no intention of ever localizing the first one.

    • Anime10121

Probably figured that 9 out of 10 people that would buy the game already know it has nothing to do with its prequel.

    • Budgiecat

Or Capcom with Street Fighter II for consoles…

  • Pyrofrost

    DAY FUCKING ONE!
    (and loving dat subtitle)

  • Six

    Should I be excited?

    • bloodiOS

Clearly isn’t up your alley so… no?

      • Six

Oh. It kind of reminded me of Senran Kagura, which I’m a big fan of.

        Oh well.

        • bloodiOS

Yeah, I don’t think you can find SK’s intense speedy combat here.

    • Pyrofrost
      • DesmaX

Well, battles seems to take way too much time

        • new_tradition

Yeah, I agree. If there’s a leveling system, I hope that vid is just the player under leveled or something, otherwise I don’t think I have the patience for that :/

I guess it could be to prolong the time you get to see the enemies exposed or something >3>

          • Audie Bakerson

I’m pretty sure the person playing just isn’t blocking and thus has to replenish his health a lot and can’t get in as many attacks as a result.

            • Kevadu

Nope, that’s just how the game plays…

      • Six

Nice to see that the clothing destruction is equal opportunity.

My summer is pretty barren so far outside of The Evil Within, so I’ll keep an eye on it.

      • http://www.shonengamez.com/ Kaitou

Awww yeeah, that’s my gameplay video!

Can’t wait to play this in English

        • Budgiecat

Did you ever play “Gatchitora! A Roughneck Teacher in High School”? Kinda similar.

          • http://www.shonengamez.com/ Kaitou

nah, but I played the way of the samurai games tho

          • Kevadu

I loved Gachitora. Very under-appreciated game, I think. Never got much attention here (well, it *was* on PSP…). Having played both it and Akiba’s Trip 2, I’ve got to say that Gachitora was the much better game.

  • Wolf Star

I never played the 1st game… Well I know what I’m buying for Ps Vita!! Day one!!

  • TheExile285

    Sweet, looking forward to it~

  • Solomon_Kano

Undead & Undressed. Heh. I like it.

  • Pyrofrost

Here is more info about the localization!

    • Wolf Star

Hell yeah!! Uncensored and uncut!! Awesome. Everyone knows Akibas Trip 2 is going to be rated M. There you have it. No need to censor if the game is towards mature audience.

    • PrinceHeir

      VERY FUCKING GOOD.

Take notes companies(looks at Nintendo, Atlus US etc)

      • Pyrofrost

To be fair, Atlus USA largely does a good job in leaving their localizations fully in tact. Would Japanese voice overs be nice, yeah; but overall, they pretty much do the best localizations in the business.

I will definitely agree about Nintendo though.

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

      added to the post =)

    • Takane Shijou

Should make mention I’m not associated with XSEED, just wanted to post the message Hatsuu posted on Twitter and such.

      • Pyrofrost

Saw these notes of things on twitter, I just didn’t know how to post a twitter post on discuss comments properly.

When I saw your posts there, being the same thing, I just thought you were Hatsuu reposting; as Tom tends to post there a lot, as well. So I just decided to ‘print screen’ that and crop it here.

Thank you for your honesty and pointing out my mistake though. You have my apologies.

  • Sevyne

Excellent! Will be getting day 1. Liking the title as well.

  • Anime10121

Mine mine mine, I want it!

  • Elvick

    Yus. This will be mine.

  • http://Gematsu.com Vayne

How to Acquire lets Xseed obtain your games?

  • Wolf Star

Also.. I’m buying both day one!! :D PS3 and Ps vita version :3

  • almostautumn

Very cool: I’ll be pre-ordering the Vita version.

  • Kiryu

    Great,XSEED delivers.Day One.

  • orzorzorz

fingers crossed for an LE but i won’t get my hopes up. thanks xseed

    • Anime10121

Well XSEED does do LE/CE every now and then, so you may be in luck :)

  • artemisthemp

Now we just wait for EU publisher that, won’t censor the shit out of this game.

  • http://www.shonengamez.com/ Kaitou

I have the Drama CD and a oneshot manga that came with the game but its’ all in Japanese. I hope they localize that.

  • Budgiecat

    Nice

Now why can’t Sega and Namco be this nice

    • http://www.shonengamez.com/ Kaitou

      Not true.

Only reason why they don’t for example. J-Stars Victory Versus is because of licensing issues.

      • Anime10121

Probably specifically talking about the Vita Tales of games and Sega’s Yakuza games…

        • http://www.shonengamez.com/ Kaitou

          Maybe.

But Namco has localized Graces f, Xillia, Xillia 2 and off the bat said they were releasing Zestiria.

          • Anime10121

Trust me, I have no problem with the way Namco’s handling the Tales series, as I’d much rather have the larger console mothership titles than remakes of the (my opinion) substandard Innocence and (even though I’ve heard a lot of good about this one) Heart

            • Budgiecat

Vesperia PS3 is still an unopened wound and putting Hearts on iOS was ugh

          • Renaldi Saputra

but they kind of forgot games like Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode, also more Vita games

        • Chestnut Bowl

And Valkyria and PSO2 and the Shining series.

          • Budgiecat

            and Gundam and GE2..

    • Renaldi Saputra

      Bcos they’re weird

    • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

I think they are hesitate to take chances. I want to say its weird they release Hatsune Miku: Project Diva over here but not Yakuza 5. I would have to guess because of the poor reception from Yakuza: Dead Souls which I think they should realize is simply because it was a terrible spin-off.

      • Budgiecat

But Hatsune sold less than Yakuza in both Japan and the U.S.

        • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

What are you saying? I am saying that its weird because Hatsune Miku is a bigger risk because it would sale bad in comparison to the Yakuza series with the exception of Yakuza: Dead Souls which sold horribly compared to the past Yakuza titles.

  • new_tradition

I was under the impression that in the first game, if you stripped regular humans, you got thrown into jail, or was penalized in some way, so is that in this game too?

    • Audie Bakerson

Only if you do it in front of the cops and get caught. People will hate you if you do it enough even without getting caught, but as far as I can tell, this doesn’t actually DO anything but change dialog in 1.

edit: Pissing off the other groups DOES make them attack you on sight though.

  • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

    lol Oh god. >.<;

  • Gojira Twit

    Well, that was unexpected.

  • 罪罰

    Oh my fucking god

    #based XSEED
    IM GOING TO CRYYEYEYEYES

  • RSene

Why they take off their cloths?

EDIT: humm.. never mind.. Foget it

  • https://twitter.com/RyoonZ RyoonZ

XSEED the glorious bacon of light of localization <3

    • Sevyne

      mmmm, bacon.

  • Wolf Star

New info from Facebook!! About the game!! :)

    • Zechs

No plans for Europe eh? :(
Does this game have DLC? Perhaps I could import it.

      • Wolf Star

Yeah for now.. I guess Europe has to wait for a while until they announce it, idk for how long. it might take longer or might never get it at all. Overall don’t worry Europe might get this game.. Eventually. I recommend importing it from US when it come out. Also I don’t know about DLC, I never played this game. I just heard about it little bit yesterday and today.

      • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

        Yes, there’s costume DLC.

  • DukeMagus

    Ah Xseed, please NEVER change!

  • DamageCity

I’m glad they are leaving everything in. One of my favorite collectables are the flyers people hand out on the street.

Just don’t talk to those art gallery ladies.

  • Learii

I hope we get ps3 version too

  • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

Not censoring makes me want the game even more. I will be getting the Vita version. I don’t need more reason to have PS3 out than I have to.

  • Audie Bakerson

Nanashi/名無し is a pun, it means “nameless” (at least for this context) and reflects his blank stateness. I think it’s the default name in at least in the JP version of Way of the Samurai 3 as well (possibly others in the series).

  • Zukato

No plans for Europe yet, and I wouldn’t be suprised if it would never come here anyway. How many times have this happend?

    • Wolf Star

I heard that a lot of times, so far what I’ve seen for Europe is, “yes or no” situation. That’s about it. idk where is SMT IV in Europe?? Still not even out, plus ruin factory 4 was canceled in Europe. idk what’s going on in Europe and JRPG games lately.

    • Wolf Star

Cross your fingers for localization in Europe. If not, well try importing the US ver.

  • Rin-Coconut

I like the idea of everything is a weapon and the anime references. I saw Kodomo no Jikan in another post about this which is always a plus.
