Mobile Tales RPG to hit App Store and Google Play this spring.

Tales of Asteria

Namco Bandai has announced Tales of Asteria, a new RPG for iOS and Android featuring Tales characters from previous games in a brand new story.

The scenario writer of the Tales series will handle the game’s story, which brings together Cress, Lloyd, Luke, Yuri, Sophie, and Milla. Here’s a snippet:

Fragments of a star that makes wishes come true…

In a world where disputes over the fragments continue, six chosen people will draw out a solution…

The game will feature voice acting and a new tap-based “cross slide battle” system.

Wit Studio, known for its work on Attack on Titan and Hoozuki no Reitetsu, is in charge of the game’s opening animation. And Do As Infinity will sing the game’s theme song.

Pre-registration opened up at the game’s official website today, making it possible to obtain Tales of Xillia‘s Milla Maxwell as soon as service begins.

Tales of Asteria will launch in Japan this spring. Watch the teaser trailer below.

“Do As Infinity will sing the game’s theme song.” Well, at least there was some good news in there.

The only thing I could find too.

      • DyLaN

What aby the OP animation? Wit is some pretty big name due to SNK I presume.

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

They worked on Sengoku Basara 4 also and that turned out to be pretty nice.

  • fyi1191

Party of 4 male 2 female?
Where’s the gender balance? Oh, there’s Yuri.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

What’s this? A Tales game having a male dominant party? What is this madness?!

    Just a few things:

    >In a world where disputes over the fragments continues

I’d change “continues” to “continue” here since it’s already using a plural form instead of singular. It just sounds more proper, but that’s my opinion :p

    >Wit Studio, known or its work on

Needs a ‘f’ in front of ‘or’.

    >Pre-registration opened up at the game’s official website today, making it possible to Tales of Xillia’s Milla Maxwell as soon as the service begins.

Making it possible to… What exactly? I have a feeling there’s a word or two missing there, heh.

      Aww lawwwwwdd.

      It’s 3am, lol. It’s been fixed.

Haha. I’ve seen it time after time again from talking with people this early. It happens.

  • Duc PC-QB

    Need gameplay vid

  • LunarHaven

I love the Tales series trust me, but these kind of BS additions is something I don’t care much for. They should stick to mother titles only I think.

    • DyLaN

We won’t get them anyway so no point getting worked up over it.

      • LunarHaven

        Yeah, you speak the truth.

    • Arcana Gear

this is a way of gaining money to put in the development of bigger titles, so i’m okay with it.

      • GDI

Capcom has proven that it will rather put money gained from successful console titles to fund mobile development.

  • TheBlackRabbit

you know what? i don’t mind the mobile guys getting some tales love. like we can’t get em all :D besides guys we got tales of graces f, tox, an tox2 in the last 2 years. it’s ok if they get something too XD

    • LunarHaven

Yeah and the massive Symphonia pack this months! With 40 new moves, cutscene additions and Japanese voice overs. Gonna be SWEET

      • TheBlackRabbit

wait what? really? even better dude.

  • ayb_91

Looks promising. Now hurry up Bandai. :3

  • Claude

What happened to Tales of Link? Sounds like they’re really starting to pump out Tales games on mobile again. I was hoping they were localize at least one of them…

  • https://twitter.com/Stealth___ Stealth

Why wont they put anything on 3DS? Makes no sense.

Every mobile tales has been garbage including the last one which is the loweest reviewed tales in the HISTORY of the freakin series.

    • EX+

Ikr?! Didn’t TOA do well on the 3DS?

      • OlimacFTW

Around 70k in the first week if I remember correctly.

    • Duc PC-QB

Because mobile Tales is easier to make money and develop.
I think we should say farewell to 3DS Vita Tales Namco Story

      • EX+

That’s true, but you can’t tell me that Japanese gamers are content with titles like the Tales series being on mobiles.

        • Duc PC-QB

They (gamers) might not content with the Tales mobile, but the publisher and developer wont ever care, money always come first, everthing else come later.

        • Arcana Gear

Japaneses gamers like mobiles… this is why its is very profitable.

  • Hatsuaki

I don’t mean to sound like a hater, but these games sound stupid at best. They receive little to no support (see what happened with Dice, Link, Biblioteca or wtv it was–nobody remembers those anymore) and they add nothing of new to the series?

If they launched them in consoles like 3DS or Vita or something, I’d understand, but the mobile tales games are all garbage.

  • Samsara09

i don’t know what the problem is.We will be gettin symphonia chronicles(1 and 2) next week…xillia 2 around this year and,who knows, zestiria next year(better pray).

    • Ladius

Yeah, I’m in the same boat. Those mobile Tales games could be decent or awful, but chances are they will never be localized (Phantasia’s port probably hasn’t been particularly successful) and we can safely ignore them while enjoying the three upcoming PS3 Tales releases.

  • rurifan

Yay, a new tap based battle system!

And now we remember why mobile gaming remains worthless.

  • orange

Not liking that story. I’m a big fan of the Tales of games but the only times I want returning characters are when it’s a direct sequel where the plot continues with the same plus new characters. I mainly play RPGs because of the interesting story and character development. Doing some sort of crossover thing feels like it’ll cheapen the old and new games for me.

Anyway, I do want more new Tales of and RPG games in general on Android. The ones I’ve played are mostly boring. I can live with subpar graphics and gameplay because the story and characters are what drives me to continue playing.

  • DriftSlave

When they described the battle system…the first thing I thought of was FF all the Bravest…..I pray for Namco that i’m wrong.

  • Elvick

Waste of resources. Put it toward a handheld game or something that people will still care about in 2 years.
