PlayStation 4 third-person action game runs at 30fps.

The Order: 1886

The Order: 1886, Sony Santa Monica Studios and Ready at Dawn’s upcoming PlayStation 4 game, will not feature multiplayer, Ready at Dawn co-founder Andrea Pessino has confirmed.

“No multiplayer,” Pessino said on Twitter. “It is a single player, third person action adventure game.”

In related news, Ready at Dawn co-founder Ru Weerasuriya recently told Play3 the game will run at 30 frames per second in 1080p.

“Currently, we are not targeting 60 frames per second,” Weerasuriya said. “In a first-person shooter, sure, that makes sense. Also, fighting games are undoubtedly suited for 60 frames. But for this, the cinematic experience is in the foreground—presented in full HD, 1080p. We’re in favor of spectacular effects and the highest possible resolution, but we limit ourselves to 30 frames per second.”

We haven’t heard much from The Order since its announcement. That should change soon. Ready at Dawn showed members of the press a 40 minute gameplay demo earlier this week, with a preview embargo set to lift on February 18. Expect new information and footage by then.

Good. Not every game needs a multiplayer mode.

I was hoping that it would at least have some sort of co-op based on the trailer that we saw, but we don’t even get that? O.o

  • Wolf Star

That’s good. I can’t wait till they show a new trailer for Order 1886 :)

  • Dick Mountainjoy

I hope it has something extra to offer.

“Cinematic Gaming Experience” usually amounts to to 5 hours of gameplay with 5 hours of walking slowing while exposition is vomited out.

  • Gariya

First inFAMOUS: SS and now this.

Sounds good. I want devs to solely focus on the single player if the game is indeed made with single player experience in mind.

  • Dick Mountainjoy

Does anyone know what this game is about?

    Steampunk Gears of War?

Because they have been ultra vague about it.

    • AdachiTohru

It’s more a The Last Of Us like than a Gears Like, a real story driven experience

    • adhesive

That’s probably the best case scenario considering Gears of War is the only fun cover based shooter out there.

  • MrFinalgamer

not even co-op!? oh well, the game looks incredible, but a bit odd since the trailer looked like it would feature co-op. with this in mind, could we see some gameplay soon?

  • bloodiOS

Good, because I don’t care much for multiplayer. That aside, since the game is rendered natively at 1920×800, I would hope that the frame rate is going to stay locked at 30fps. I’ve been wondering though, how would a game look if they implement a feature that forcefully makes the game run in 24Hz mode?

    • Marco Tinè

Where did you read the game is rendered at 1920×800? RaD were adamant about the Full HD specs, as far as I remember.

      • bloodiOS

Well, their screenshots definitely tell a different story…
The game runs natively 1920×800 without any scaling, so it will look just as good as native 1080p, with the exception of having a total of 280 lines missing from top and bottom, forming two huge black horizontal bars. That combines with the 30fps cap (and other stuffs) sure makes it a cinematic experience, alright.

    Gimme online coop, geez

I wasn’t really expecting multiplayer in a game like this anyway and I’d take a solid 30fps over a choppy 60fps any day of the week.

  • MrRobbyM

If it’s a really refined, fun, single player experience, I see no need for multiplayer.

About the fps thing, again, I see no need for 60fps. Not everything needs to be 60fps. Sure, it looks better, but if they really plan to squeeze that much detail into the game, 30fps would be fine.

    • Budgiecat

60fps is good for fighting games and action games that play like fighting games. Its pretty cool for racing for a better sense of speed but outside those two genres its really not needed as much. Yes even FPS

      • MrRobbyM

I’d argue that 60fps helps in multiplayer FPS but I wouldn’t say it’s mandatory.

Preferably everything would be 60fps in a perfect world but people put too much importance on it.

  • Impressionnant

My concern is their approach to making it more “filmic” than a game.

    • HighBrowDrifter

      *cough* *BeyondTwoSouls* *cough, cough*…..

    • LastBoss

That never stopped Uncharted or Metal Gear.

  • $61526767

Oh well. Going to be enjoying the single player.

  • Elvick

I don’t care. Most MP modes are throw away… *looks at Tomb Raider*

I just want a great single player experience.

Hope it’s locked 30FPS. No dips would be nice.

    • Marco Tinè

I’m quite confident it will. Ready at Dawn are fantastic developers, and they even have some tech support from Sony’s Santa Monica Studio (God of War). Both knows a thing or two about game engines :)

  • shogunknight

As long as the game is well done, thats all that matters

  • Bob Obb

Awesome. Sometimes I wonder how much more awesome TLOU would’ve been if they hadn’t wasted time or money on the useless MP

    • Luna Kazemaru

umm people actually liked the MP in TLOU it was pretty well thought out in terms of using logic of the SP soo yeah.

  • Raiu

Remember the old days where multiplayer wasn’t the fad? This is great now that it won’t get shoehorned in just for the sake of being in the times….

  • FlareKnight

No complaints here. Rarely play multiplayer anyways. Just want a good game.

  • Rogerrmark

Thank godness, tired of games with awesome single campaign and bland multiplayer.

    • Budgiecat

Some games with tacked on MP are dead on arrival.
      Dark Sector
      Quantum Theory
      Vampire Rain

And I barely touched MP in TLOU, Uncharted or ME3 anyway..

      • Rogerrmark

So true, me neither. Didn’t even mentioned the MP-exclusive unlockables, trophies, etc
