May I accompany you my good sir or lady? Tis shall be glorious duel fapptation! HOREO!

      • DarthBrian

My name is Brian. You should be able to tell if I’m a sir or lady. :p

        • HighBrowDrifter

You sure about that sweet cheeks? j/k ;-)

  • Syltique

So a cinematic TPS with cool characters and an interesting world. I’ll play that.

If they actually have some innovative new gameplay elements, I’ll get it day 1. I also hope it’s not excessively short.

  • Warboss Aohd

    dem graphics.

……but will the gameplay be any good? i hope so.

  • Elvick

    Praise be to leaks.

    Looks awesome.

  • bloodiOS

Gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the actual footage.

  • Gariya

Okay, so, a “GUYS, LOOK AT HOW HOLLYWOOD MOVIE-LIKE OUR GAME IS” cinematic experience linear AAA cover TPS with press X to awesome.

    • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

Amazing how deep your impressions are from seeing next to nothing.

      • Rikimaru

We’ve see nothing from Final Fantasy XV and we know its going to be good.

        Let that sink in.

        • KingKellogg The Waffle Haggler

          We’ve seen multiple gameplay trailers.

    • Elvick

Okay, so, a “GUYS, let’s complain about a game being exactly as it was pitched” comment.

      • Gigus

Its the end of the world as we know it elvie

    • HighBrowDrifter
    • Unretributed

Is it just me or do you come on every single article for every single modern western style game and bitch about why it’s using modern western style graphics and mechanics?

We get it. You hate western games. Luckily no one cares about how you feel about them and plenty are hyped for this game. Get over yourself, the industry doesn’t revolve around you and you’re taste.

    • TetsuyaHikari

You know something is wrong when I’M disagreeing with someone about how disappointed they are with a Western game. Even I’m hyped for the game, lol. Just let that sink in for a moment…

    • bloodiOS

Yeah, we get it. You don’t like the game. As if you didn’t express it enough here:

  • Budgiecat

    it looks like prerendered FMV

Though I dont like that typical “X for dodge” QTE prompt or how the bottom right HUD suddenly vanished letting you know its a scripted moment. Should have just been a timed analog ducking move like in Beyond so it doesn’t break immersion

    • TetsuyaHikari

Ryu ga Gotoku/Yakuza uses these QTE prompts as well, but it doesn’t break from the immersion. I don’t know where you’re getting that from. You push the button (or miss it) and go back to standard gameplay. This has been going on for over a decade at least.

      • HighBrowDrifter

I personally like QTE’s if they are implemented properly…it gives a bit of diversion to the flow of combat imo.

        • TetsuyaHikari

Yeah, I don’t mind them too much, but I’ll stay away from games like Asura’s Wrath that are 90% QTE, lol.

          • HighBrowDrifter

It was okay for the 1st hour or so (loved the first Deity battle!)…but afterwards it gets stale and repetitive. Sad, because Asura’s Wrath had immense potential if handled with a little bit more care and polish.

            • TetsuyaHikari

Yeah. Personally, I just thought they went a little overboard with the QTE stuff. I’m fine with it if it’s implemented properly into the game, like you said.

Even good things can actually turn bad if there’s too much of it though. Everything in moderation and all that.

              • HighBrowDrifter

Precisely. I wish they would have integrated some sort of RPG elements or at least an evolving combo system/interchangeable combo system….oh well.

      • Budgiecat

Yakuza isnt trying to be as Hollywood cinematic immersive as this.
Certainly not with flaming blue or pink red aura and stuff

        • TetsuyaHikari

I still don’t see it breaking from the immersion, man. It’s doing the same thing we’ve seen a thousand times before. QTE pops up, HUD disappears, QTE finishes, HUD returns.

Stop making a big deal out of something just to complain, man.

          • Budgiecat

You think I’m complaining but I’m not. I’m critiquing There’s a difference. This game unlike Yakuza, is obviously desperately trying to immerse you in the sense that you’re not playing a standard video game what with the great attention to cinematic detail.

Not once in Yakuza am I under the impression that its ever trying to emulate a movie. Sure it doesn’t have Animu graphics but I am always aware that it is aware that it is still a video game. And I’m okay with that.

This game prides itself from the beginning of its reveal that it is literally playable FMV come to life; that so far the graphics are its greatest selling point.
So thats why the HUD is so minimal as compared to Yakuza. Thats why they try to keep obvious video game hints to a minimum.

So with that approach, a “press X to dodge” then all of a sudden seems silly (when even old games like Megaman X didn’t feel the need to state the obvious and you had to find out things for yourself).

So with the Hollywoodesque cinematic scripted approach they are taking, like I said, I think the less obvious approach to dodging or ducking using Beyond’s analog stick move, would have fit better for the sense of immersion they are obviously trying so hard to put you in.
Especially since they already have the Matrix like slowdown anyway

            • TetsuyaHikari

I take it you had a LOT of problems with Heavy Rain then, lol.

              • Budgiecat

I didn’t mind it at the time but I think we’ve evolved since then hence Beyond.
Though yes some of the stuff was annoying…like climbing that rocky ledge at the nighttime crime scene in the rain

                • TetsuyaHikari

Meh. You can keep going back to Beyond all you want. I think it works fine here, man.

Beyond isn’t the be all of “cinematic gaming”.

                  • Budgiecat

No where did I say it was but if you think game developers just ignore other people’s ideas and designs then you’re wrong. It can definitely be improved upon.

I mean, this game could easily just use static 2D shots of the characters facing each other side to side or the story scenes now couldn’t it? But I’m sure they wouldn’t be satisfied with that…

                    • TetsuyaHikari

Nowhere did I say that developers ignore other people’s ideas. You’re just bitching to bitch now, guy, so I’m done here.

                    • Budgiecat

You always get mad and run away. Next time I’m putting a leash on you…

                    • TetsuyaHikari

I’m not getting mad, lol. I’m just tired of your bullshit, so I didn’t see a point in going any further since the discussion had run its course.

                    • Budgiecat
                    • TetsuyaHikari

That’s the kind of reaction I should start giving you from now on since you just seem to enjoy stirring shit up. THAT is why our discussions generally turn out the way they do.

Anyway, I think next time you want to give some “critique”, you might want to keep it to yourself, or at the very least… Learn a better way of giving it. That’s all I’ll say on the matter.

                    • Budgiecat

We wouldn’t be at this conflicting crossroads if you’d just have changed your avatar back to the rightful Godmars

                    • HighBrowDrifter

                      Bondage Time….I likey

  • Gigus

Hmm…. judge now or judge later….. hmmm. I’ll give my impressions on it later once I’ve seen more. As far as graphics go, it looks awesome. I want more beard and moustache screenshots.

  • RSene

Could anyone please tell me how much left untill 5 a.m. PST / 8:00 a.m. EST? I’m totally lost with time zones.

    • MrFinalgamer

until 5 a.m is still a good 13 hours more or less

      • RSene

  • Vayne

These types of games only have 6 hours of gameplay.

    • TetsuyaHikari

      Is that a problem?

      • Vayne

Well, yes, because after finishing will get dusty in the living room.

        • TetsuyaHikari

Says you? There are plenty of games out there that can be completed in 6 hours, but people keep playing them and dump a good 60 hours or more into them anyway.

EDIT: Vanquish and Bayonetta come to mind.

          • Vayne

I’m kind of finish a game and go to another.

            • TetsuyaHikari

Well, everyone has different ways of “finishing” the game, so that’s why when you see something as a “6 hour long” game, it may not apply to someone else because they will find ways to get their money’s worth out of the game (e.g. custom challenges, achievements/trophies, etc.).

          • Elvick

Ah Vanquish… it wasn’t even as short as reported. The in-game timer only counted successful encounters. :

Plus, it’s like an arcade game. Meant to be played again and again. Luckily some reviewers “got that” about it. Which surprised me TBH.

    • Elvick

Doesn’t bother me as long as that 6 hours is amazing.

      I enjoy replaying games.

      • Budgiecat

There’s far too many good games out there now to be replaying decent ones.

I’m still not done with my PS2 library for one and then there’s the PS3 and 360 library and my DS, PSP and 3DS library…even some PS1 titles I need to finish..

I literally JUST finished Uncharted 2 yesterday. Crazy I know..
and as much as it and “The Last of Us” hint at me to replay them on a different difficulty level, I just dont have the time or see the point. Other games I need to finish

        • Elvick

Too many good games for them all to be 80+ hours too~

(not that any story is actually that long, games that long tend to be because of filler or optional stuff)

          • Budgiecat

A lot of that optional stuff is there to break monotony. Is why many people enjoy the Yakuza games

    • Bryce Blalex Douglas

I’m sure this will have about the same length as TLoU or longer.

  • HighBrowDrifter

Less hate people, more anticipation!….Let’s not be prejudice and give this hot piece o’ arse a chance eh?

  • Zackasaur

    Holy shit. o_o

    I’m glad I pre-ordered.

    • DarkLegacy

      I pre-ordered too. Can’t wait ^^

  • Sal Romano

    Added a third GIF.

    • HighBrowDrifter

      Merci monsieur :)

    • bloodiOS

      Grazie signore =)

  • Dark_N11

    looks great.

  • Unretributed

I can’t believe there are people on other sites complaining about the size of the gun in the HUD.

lol Seriously? I didn’t even notice it. This game looks amazing.

  • MrRobbyM

Judging from the 4th screenshot, looks like it needs some work. Maybe it’s just the filter but the brick texture looks a bit fuzzy. Guess we’ll find out tomorrow!

  • maruhadapurpurine

    These graphics are unbelievable.

    • DarthBrian

      dat PS4 power. <3

  • SuperLuigi

Looks awesome. Hope it plays well. Gonna get flack for it but sucks no multiplayer.

  • Invisbin

I just see a third person shooter, so I must wait for actual footage

  • RyoonZ

    That second gif is sublime.

  • karmacoma

Well, at the very least, we know it’s going to be gorgeous. Crysis 3 has just been dethroned.

  • chibuki

    this is gonna be win

  • shogunknight
  • nerazzuro

    Amazing hoy graphics drive hype.
It definitely looks great, but I’ll wait to hear about what it brings to the table aside from cover shooter mechanics.

  • Zuhri69

It looks gorgeous!!! Regardless, I hope the game have an upgrade system to level up your character and weapons.

  • rurifan

Take your 30fps back to the PS3, we don’t want you in this generation. :(

Seriously people, you’re ooing over screenshots and gifs and ignoring what matters most in games: MOTION.

Before anybody says 30fps is enough, look at the three comparisons here:

    • TetsuyaHikari

      >Seriously people, you’re ooing over screenshots and gifs and ignoring what matters most in games: MOTION.

Those gifs aren’t in motion? k

Come back and say the same thing after the trailer has been released, I guess.

      >Before anybody says 30fps is enough, look at the three comparisons here:

30fps IS enough if you’re actually developing it to run that way. All that test proves is that the variables change based on the perception of each individual user due to the monitor/TV/etc. they are using, so it makes 30fps look like crap, lol.

In other words, your “test” is rigged and doesn’t apply to this situation. There are plenty of games that play perfectly fine in 30fps on PS3 and there are some that have framerate issues. Having said that… There are also plenty of games that play perfectly fine in 60fps on PS3 (even as far back as PS2 actually), but there are some that ALSO have framerate issues.

      • rurifan

Everything you said here is nonsense. The test is accurate and shows exactly the difference in human perception viewing 30fps and 60fps. The different in motion resolution is immediately obvious.

I understand that you and many others don’t understand this yet. But you need to start paying attention and understand what is going on or your ignorance will encourage developers to give us another generation of “games” that are beautiful as screenshots and blurry garbage in actual movement.

Before you argue, go watch th 30fps vs 60fps comparisons again. You cannot defend the mess at 30fps.

        • TetsuyaHikari

          >Everything you said here is nonsense

          Lol no

          >The test is accurate and shows exactly the difference in human perception viewing 30fps and 60fps

I don’t think so, Tim. It clearly tells you that the motion will look different depending on the refresh rate of your monitor. Again, your “test” doesn’t produce the same result for everyone, therefore it is flawed. Much like a fighting game running at 60fps won’t look the same on a HDTV as opposed to a SDTV (and no, I don’t mean graphically… Still talking about framerate here).

          >I understand that you and many others don’t understand this yet.

And I also understand you don’t seem to know your ass from your elbow.

          >But you need to start paying attention and understand what is going on or your ignorance will encourage developers to give us another generation of “games” that are beautiful as screenshots and blurry garbage in actual movement.

I’m sorry, did you just start playing video games yesterday? People have been making games in 30fps for decades, man, and they don’t look like the 30fps this “test” is showing, lol. If they’re developed properly for the hardware, it won’t stutter like that. All this “test” is proving is what I’ve been saying this whole time about the 30vs60 argument.

It’s simply solidifying the placebo effect. Did you know there are still arcade games being made in 30fps these days, yet they look like they’re running at 60? Now, why do you think that is? I’ll tell you why.

It’s because, while 60fps may be all well and good to display lots of action taking place without slowdown, 30fps is still capable of running fluidly since the human eye can’t actually detect anything beyond 27fps or so anyway. It’s an illusion, man. Your mind is playing a trick on you, basically.

If the game is actually made to run in 30fps, it won’t stutter as much as the 30fps does in that “test”. So, while 60fps is actually more aesthetically pleasing, it certainly isn’t required by any means. People have been fine with playing games in 30fps since the 90’s. The only reason people want 60fps now is because it’s higher and should be the new standard with 1080p resolution.

Like I’ve also told plenty of people before… I’d be willing to bet that MOST of the people ranting and raving about 60fps doesn’t know the first thing about perception and simply want it because 60 is higher than 30, so it must be “better”, lol.

          >Before you argue, go watch th 30fps vs 60fps comparisons again. You cannot defend the mess at 30fps.

You’re right, I can’t defend that mess. However, you also can’t defend this mess you call a “test” either since it isn’t in a controlled environment. If you were comparing the same game, one running at 30fps and one running at 60fps (developed by the same company), then you’d actually be onto something here. As for this though… I could just as easily create a test to determine the quality of audio through the use of speakers/headphones/etc., but you know what?

Everyone is going to have different types of speakers/headphones/etc., so the results will never be truly accurate. Therefore, your test is moot and so is your defense. Thanks for playing~

          • rurifan

Wow, that’s a wall of text. But sorry, I didn’t read any of it since your first statement is so wrong.

The test demonstrates the effect of different frame rates on the human visual system. The effect has nothing to do with your hardware (other than maxiing out the rates it can demonstrate). Until you grasp what the site is showing you, nothing you say has meaning.

            • Budgiecat

Well any ways, this game is trying to convey a Hollywood Cinematic feel and since the 20’s, pretty much all Hollywood movies have been filmed at an industry standard of 24fps, with only the Hobbit recently being an exception at 48fps.

Most home video and many TV shows get filmed at 30 to 60fps which many refer to as “Daytime Soap Opera Effect”, which is why the movie industry also hasn’t tried to adapt to it as to not get that cheaper looking effect.

Now of course, games are rendered not shot, but the illusion of a Hollywood cinematic feel I guess would be conveyed better when it’s closer to its framerate I guess…

As long as the framerate is consistent, then it should be fine as this game is single player only anyway…

              • rurifan

Go look at the link I provided in the post above. 30fps is not enough for anything that moves. Unless you like looking at a blurry mess.

Movies are filmed very carefully to (partially) mitigate bad effects of the pathetic frame rate they are shot at, and directors hate it. People are used to *not seeing detail in motion* in movies because the low frame rate destroys it. Failure to achieve 60fps is nothing but a flaw, not something you add for “artistic effect” in games.

                • Budgiecat

I’m just telling you what they’re aiming for and Battlefield went along just fine in 30fps anyway past gen. Its not like its an unplayable experience.

                  • rurifan

I won’t play anything that’s not a modern 60fps on current consoles. Had enough of 30fps eyesores in the last worthless generation.

        • LustEnvy

As much of an advocate as I am for 60fps, truth is, not all games need it, and certain games gain a cinematic feel with 30fps. 60fps essentially puts you in the action, while 30fps is like playing a movie. Games like Uncharted to me would look odd at 60fps, since it’s so cinematic. The Order runs at 21:9 aspect, and is essentially like playing a movie. 30fps is fine.

Also, not all 30fps games look and feel the same. Motion blurring can greatly reduce how bad an unfiltered 30fps feels. For example, if you use a fps limiter on pc games to 30fps and compare the same game on PS4 (i.e. Lego Marvel which runs at 30fps on ps4), you’ll see the PS4’s motion isn’t as jerky as the PC version capped at 30fps.

30fps isn’t trerrible. It CAN be, and is, many times, but if used right, it enhances certain games. Hell, the creator of Shadow of the Colossus stated he capped the game at 30fps to retain a cinematic feel, when he could’ve used 60fps on the PS3 collection.

          • rurifan

“Motion blur” is a hack to hide how bad the low frame rate is. Why would you ever advocate this?

30fps is never fine. Look at the testufo link I provided; it shows clearly what happens to your beautiful game every time it moves at 30fps.

Also, I played the ICO remaster on PS2 and it looks great — until the camera moves, where the blur filter turns it to absolute barf. So sad to see. :(

      • Budgiecat

Squaresoft’s first game for the PS1, Tobal #1, ran at 60fps

        • TetsuyaHikari

Okay? Some N64 games also ran at 60fps. You missed my point, bro (as usual).

          • Budgiecat

Tobal #1 precedes N64, 32bit vs 64bit. I wasn’t arguing against your point; just that you said ‘as far back as the PS2 actually’ which isn’t accurate as I said Tobal #1 was Square’s first PS1 game back in mid 1996 right before N64 came out.
So it’s “as far back as the PS1 actually”.

  • Wolf Star

oh my god!! :O the game looks really really amazing!! :D to me it looks like the developers already tapped the high power of Ps4 :3 oh man it looks beautiful that I’m going to cry.. I still wonder why people are still choosing Xbone over Ps4.. “Meh” it’s their choice :) I’m happy that we are getting the game!! :D Whooot!!! :D

  • DesmaX

Holy shit, that looks amazing. Can’t wait for tomorrow

  • DarkLegacy

The screenshots and gifs are looking awesome. Can’t wait to see the trailer

  • RoyalR R.M

    aahhhhhh.That Graphic!!!!!!
    I’m dying.

  • Zukato

    Woah! Awesome!

  • Tracy

    Looks like a motion picture!

  • easedpaladin

DAMN!!! didn’t expect a third person shooter to have such rich graphics

  • Unretributed
    • easedpaladin

      That trailer was hot

    • TetsuyaHikari

See? Just as I thought. That QTE sequence was pretty damn fluid and didn’t take away from the immersion at all. The trailer itself was alright, I just wish that dude wasn’t talking and I could actually hear the game’s sound effects, voices, and such.

      • Unretributed

I hoped that the trailer would show these “werewolves” or whatever you’re supposed to be killing in the game.

I’m a little bored of watching humans shoot at humans all the time.

        • TetsuyaHikari

They will probably save it to show later :p

They already have people hooked as it is, so let’s save the best for last, heh.

          • Unretributed

I just hope you don’t fight hordes of them at a time and these creatures have actual intelligent A.I. and aren’t just mindless cannon fodder.

I’d like them to be very quick and stealthy. But judging from the power and ammo capacity of the weapons shown in the trailer I’m guessing you’ll just be mowing them down rather quickly.

But besides all that, the game skill looks terrific.

            • TetsuyaHikari

Well, I’m sure they will probably give you difficulty adjustments and whatnot. You can probably mow them down rather easily on Normal, I’d imagine, haha. Maybe there will be something more challenging though :3

  • Cry_Zero

PlayStation exclusive. What more can I say?

    • TetsuyaHikari

Off to a good start from the looks of it.
