Latest information on March-due prologue.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Early buyers of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will receive exclusive downloadable content for use in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami announced.

The bonus content will only be available in the first batch of retail editions and for a limited time in the digital version. It provides players with additional resources for a “Mother Base” area available within The Phantom Pain, which is introduced during the events of Ground Zeroes and plays a “central role” in The Phantom Pain. Details are scarce, but it promises to give players an “edge” when they begin The Phantom Pain.

Additionally, Ground Zeroes consumers will be able to unlock exclusive content for use in The Phantom Pain. Prisoners of War and VIPs rescued in Ground Zeroes will be added to The Phantom Pain‘s Mother Base, and character skins will be carried over.

Konami also detailed second screen functionality through the iDROID app, which replicates Big Boss’ in-game communication and map device. It will be available through iOS, Android, and Xbox Smart Glass free of charge, and can be used to call up maps, summon air support, or play the cassette tapes found throughout Camp Omega.

Finally, Konami announced it is dropping the price of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One retail versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes from $39.99 to $29.99, bringing it in line with the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 retail versions.

As previously announced, the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One digital versions will cost $29.99, as well, and the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 digital versions will cost $19.99.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will launch on March 18 in North America and March 21 in Europe.

Make the physical copies $20 and I’ll consider it.

  • DarthBrian

Or you can just buy all this bonus content later I’m sure.

  • JoJo_718

SPOILERS If the mother base of Militaires Sans Frontières (Peace Walker) gets destroyed in one of the trailers, then you’re creating the Outer Haven of the original MSX title?!

    • alok

Yes in the Phantom Pain you will be going to South Africa and establishing Outer Heaven.
      Outer Haven is different.

  • Zero

The drop from $39 to $29 is a good start.

  • XXX

$29.99 for next gen versions is a good buy in my book :) Much better than $59.99 for a graphical enhanced Tomb Raider.

    • Budgiecat

er…MGS GZ is a cross gen +2 hour prologue game experience
TR is still an 8 to 10 hour cross gen experience whether its enhanced or not

      • Surgeon of Death

I got TR for $40 off amazon. That was the most I would pay for it since it’s just a port.

    • Surgeon of Death

So basically your trying to say that an overpriced demo(cut from a full $60 game and slapped a premium price) is a better buy that an over priced PC ported (graphically with subtle editions) game? Yeah I guess that justify s the price.

    • karmacoma

As Budge mentioned, you’re comparing what is essentially a glorified demo to an enhanced port of a FULL GAME, including DLC. No, it is not a better deal than buying Tomb Raider Definitive Edition.

  • Bob Obb

$30 is still a ripoff but I guess it’s good they’re listening to the complaints

  • McPoo

I will give them 10 English Pounds for the PS3 version, and not a penny more.

  • PrinceHeir

Have they confirmed if the US will have Dual Audio?

the JPN one is already confirmed to have English Subs(not sure about ENG voices)

I’m torn with this since i was planning on buying this and Metal Gear Rising Special Edition(with all DLCs and exclusive Solid Snake sword) on Playasia this summer.

Though i doubt the resources are that integral to the story aside from a early boost for mother base and all.

What about save data transfer? will we be able to use our PS3 saves on PS4 Phantom Pain in the near future?

The price drop of next gen versions are a good start!

    • alok

I’ve already bought the Special Edition from play asia. I was surprised, the combat is amazing.
But Metal Gear Solid V:Ground Zeroes is a must buy now.

      • PrinceHeir

YUP! played the US version and clocked around 44 hours(not yet starting the VR missions or DLC ones)

I’m mainly getting this just for all the DLC which includes the White Armor and Solid Snake Sword(EXCLUSIVE JPN)

That and i love the cover ^^

        • Anime10121

Still sad about whatever fallout Hayter and Kojima had that caused us not to get the Solid Snake sword :(

  • Skerj

Nice, DLC bonuses for a game that’s like 2 years off.

    • alok

Really? how do you know it’s two years off?

      • Skerj

Because I’m from the future, don’t question me.

  • tokyobassist

The digital releases should be $10-$15 across the board.

Still good to see they are listening to complaints. If the physical release has an actual manual (not a pamphlet) then I’ll let the $30 entry point slide.

Ducktales Remastered is nice to own but it has no manual. Heck I JUST bought EDF 2025 and that doesn’t even have a manual either.

    • Bryce Blalex Douglas

9/10 games won’t come with a manual anymore. It’s all online or on disc.

    • karmacoma

Yeah, personally, I’m still going to wait until it’s $10-15 on a PSN sale, or ideally, when it and Phantom Pain release as one complete game.

But good thing they lowered the price, even if only a little.

  • Zackasaur

Yay! This is much more equitable.

  • TetsuyaHikari

Props for the price drop. It’s still unreasonable, given the content, but it’s a step in the right direction at least.

  • Anime10121

Good news good news everywhere :D

Konami finally coming to their senses! Man it feels good for this thing to be priced the way it SHOULD have been priced to begin with!

  • DrForbidden
    • Budgiecat

I’m gonna guess an angry feminist mad that….

      • DrForbidden

I don’t know if the artist is an angry feminist or not, I just think that having Snake go through the entire game in that outfit will be a hoot…

  • Keegs79

Hell yeah! That is ten more dollars in my Amazon account for another game!

  • Auragar

Mmm… well that is better at least. Still a bit too high in my opinion, but you know whatever, it is better.

  • Budgiecat

If this came with Metal Gear Online then I doubt people would be complaining as much…
