Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Following yesterday’s image comparison, Konami and Kojima Productions have released a video comparing the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 versions of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

As previously detailed, the game runs at 60 frames per second in 1080p on PlayStation 4, 60 frames in 720p on Xbox One, and 30 frames per second in 720p scaled resolution on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Watched it on gametrailers. Pretty good despite the compression. Downloading the video now to get a better comparison I hope.

EDIT: Damn the game even looks good on PS3/360. o_O

  • PrinceHeir

the character models looks similar, but the backgrounds and framerate are the difference between last gen and current gen.

still this looks amazing, Fox Engine is a beauty to see ^^

    • Budgiecat

It’s still cross gen. Much like looking at an early 2007 cross gen PS3 game and comparing it to it’s PS2 counterpart.
Not like we look back at those now in awe or anything since PS3 has come so far. PS3 didn’t really start coming into it’s own until late 2008/2009.
So in other words, lets see what the PS4 can truly do in another 2 or three years once it comes into it’s own…

  • KiQun

I see, PS4 indeed has no cloud.

    • tubers

      pun intended? xD

  • MrRobbyM

Looks like the PS4 version beats the X1 by a bit but pretty much the same. The Ps3/360 versions are vastly inferior.

  • Gigus

Damn current gen still looks impressive.

  • bloodiOS

*LOL* Wow, looks like I need some explanations from Kojima regarding the PS4’s missing clouds.

    • MrFinalgamer

      I thought MGS V had dynamic climate…

      • bloodiOS

Yeah, but it’s rather funny when the other three versions all have clouds in the sky while the ps4 one doesn’t xD

        • 罪罰

          ps4 has no clouds.

          • Elvick

PS3 had no grass. PS4 has no clouds.

            • bloodiOS

XBO sacrificed 1,152,000 pixels to have both xD

              • MrFinalgamer

and it was worth every damn pixel. hey! at least the Xbone finally has something over the PS4 “we have grass AND clouds”!

                • bloodiOS

And as far as differences in resolution goes (in the words of Thief‘s director, Nicolas Cantin), “you really need good eyes to see the difference” xD

            • 罪罰

Mafia 3 with no grass and no clouds.

    • Budgiecat

      I TOLD you!

  • shogunknight

Xbox One literally has “the power of the cloud”

  • bloodiOS

Not a fan of A2C but at least at 1080p, it doesn’t seem to be as bad as I imagined it would be. I would love Phantom Pain to have full alpha transparency (for hair and foliage) though.

  • karmacoma

Man, PS4 is crushing every other version. But yeah, they all look great. Really impressed by the last gen versions.

    • Articuno76

Me too. I know the PS4/X1 versions are the ones people are most interested in, but you gotta admit, getting those graphics out of 7 year old hardware is borderline miracle work. Really impressive stuff.

  • tokyobassist

Current gen looks pretty good. It’s clearly choppy in comparison to the next gen versions though. It’s kinda of nuts because while it doesn’t look bad, I really do favor tight controls.

If Strider on PS3 is any indication, I think this will still feel responsive which is all I ask for.

PS4 is the best by far. But I have to say, the current gen versions look pretty good :)

  • Bob Obb

Looks really good in 1080p60… I can’t justify a new console for a demo though

  • Articuno76

That’s a clever way of trying to convey the framerate differences on a 30FPS capped video.

    • bloodiOS

Did you use the download link provided in the article? That one runs at 60fps.

      • Articuno76

        Wow. Thanks, didn’t realise that!

        • bloodiOS

        • sprayer

you can watch any youtoube video in 60fps
          you need

  • new_tradition

The PS4 version does look better, but not by much. If I was buying this game, I’d get the PS3 version since it’s cheaper.

EDIT: Wait, I’m not being objective enough; I don’t have a PS4, so I can’t really say for certain >3>

Although did they ever clarify if you bought the PS3 version and then got the PS4 version of Phantom Pain, they’d be able to reconcile the carry over data (wait, will it even have carry over data? O_o)

  • kaotron

…not that much of a difference.
