New trailer for Ubisoft's turn-based RPG.

Child of Light

Child of Light, Ubisoft Montreal’s downloadable turn-based RPG, will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC (via Steam) on April 30 for $14.99, Ubisoft announced.

The game, set in the world of Lemuria and inspired by classic Japanese RPGs, follows Aurora, a child stolen from her home, who on her journey home must bring back the sun, moon, and stars held captive by the mysterious Queen of the Night.

    I’m looking forward to it

It is far from the same quality of jrpg.

-Complain that no big western publishers want to make games that are inspired by classic JRPGs.

-A western publisher makes a game inspired by classic JRPGs

-Complain that it’s “far” from the same quality of JRPG as if that can be accurately judged from 3 short trailers and a few screenshots.

I still love JRPGs but I HATE JRPG gamers with a passion. Especially in the 7th gen.

Don’t lump us all in with that guy.

The literal volume of certain peoples here is a tad discouraging.

        • Alkhan

I didn’t say “every single one” but for the most part, I can’t stand the majority of them. I’m sure you already know the type I’m talking about.

The ones who act like the entire western industry is to blame for the decline in universal JRPG interest when the ones at fault are the JRPG developers( save for a few niche devs and a few other non niche devs) for failing to truly captivate their audience like they use to and the consumers themselves for their overall singular taste and lack of genre curiosity.

          • Elvick

I know the type, but I don’t see why the focus should be put on them.

I like to focus on people who don’t suck. *shrug*

Yeah, it is definitely far AHEAD.

i want this on vita :l

Attractive pricing. I actually had my eye on this, but I dunno how big of a file it is. My 60GB PS3 has been filling pretty quickly the last few months D:

Also, they said PS3 games won’t work on PS4, so is there a separate PS4 download for this game when it lists on PSN..?

    • http://s932.photobucket.com/ usagi_san

Yes, that would be the case. Separate files but doesn’t stop a company from making a game a cross buy title, look at Flower from thatgamecompany.

Great price! Hopefully it’s a cross buy title, so I can jump on to this whenever I get a PS4.

Such a beautiful looking game. I take it that the release date is a worldwide release, or just the NA one?

  • Zackasaur

I am insanely excited for this. I sure hope it sells well and inspires more developers and publishers to jump into JRPG-style games!

I’ll get this on PS4 the first moment it is available.

  • Elvick

Buying the crap out of this on PS4.

I still don’t know why last generation didn’t have more downloadable RPGs.

Would buy again on PS Vita… come on Ubi. ;D

  • MrFinalgamer

definitely looks interesting, i would need more info on the story though, since that’s mostly the reason why i play JRPGs (BTW this is the first time i’ve seen and read stuff about it so…yeah, myah)

  • DichaTesoro

The music sounds good. It’s all so pretty too.

  • Silver Citizen

It’s also coming out for Wii U.

    • Zackasaur

I think he just forgot to type that in the article, because he did use the Wii U tag. Good correction, though.

  • artemisthemp

Looks like I will have something to play after Infamous Second Son :)
