Geralt prepares to save a man being beaten.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt RED has shared three new screenshots of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in celebration of its new forums opening.

The shots show Geralt riding on horseback through a field of corpses, unsheathing his sword, and again on horseback eyeing other horsemen across the lake.

Wow, that looks really good. When do you think we will get a solid release date?

    • Alkhan

At one point myself and others received emails from Amazon.com claiming that the estimated arrival date for “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt- Playstation 4” was May 6th, 2014.

They later corrected themselves and removed the release date from the product.

This happened around the last week in December.

      • rainelee

That sounds reasonable since May fits the Q2 2014 release date. Maybe Amazon knows something we don’t? And CDPR told them to shut up about t? :p

    • karmacoma

Probably not till the next big games convention. CD Projekt RED always have their own little online livestream announcements around con time.

  • Gariya

Hm, for another brown grey WRPG with bland art direction, the visual actually looks pretty nice.

    • Alkhan

Oh look! More anti- WRPG(and anti anything non-Japanese) stealth trolling from you.

Don’t you get tired of that?

      • Gariya

WRPG is not dudebro shooter shit nor do they drag down diversity in console gaming, so I don’t hate them. Just not my cup of tea.

        • Alkhan

Here we go with that “drag down diversity in console gaming” nonsense again.

There is no lack of diversity in console gaming. Would you rather we go back to the SNES/Genesis days where everything was either a platformer, a 2D brawler, or a JRPG?

Console gaming is more diverse than it’s ever been. There’s literally something for everybody.

          • Budgiecat

            Where’s my Gamera game?

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

You say you don’t hate them, yet the words you speak are coated in poison.

    • karmacoma

Witcher.. brown grey.. bland art direction. WAT.

      • Budgiecat

Well from what I remember, Witcher 2 was a lot more colorful than Witcher 1…

And never really dug those uglified European faces..

        • karmacoma

Yeah, the characters look super Polish. I kind of dig it, since it makes sense that they’d look Eastern European, coming from a Polish developer. But I could see how it’d be off putting when every other game has super models for characters.

(although I think some of the females are really pretty :o )

          • Budgiecat

Well they’re slightly above Dragon Age (actually a lot if you just go by the females), but yeah it doesn’t really have too much of its own unique style. I remember some troll posted footage of it as “Dragon Age 2” footage on Youtube (before DA 2 was actually revealed) and a lot of people fell for it….

    • Dark_N11

I say we need more brown/grey/dark/gritty games
i can’t live without those types of games ;)

      • Gariya

After what we’ve seen the past generation, it still isn’t enough for you? Wow.

      • Budgiecat

        Well your name is Dark…

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

          >you’re

Yeah. Apparently, you are name is Dark.

          • Budgiecat

And your true avatar is Godmars but everyday you lie to yourself…

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

To be fair… The avatar was actually of Takeru, not Godmars itself. Your argument is invalid.

              • Budgiecat

Takeru IS Godmars he is the human embodiment of the justice that is Godmars and you have failed that justice!

                • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

                  Lol no.

Anyway, back to The Witcher 3.

    • Shippoyasha

I love the Witcher series even though I am a huge otaku game fan. It does have its own sensibilities and vibrancy. It is not easy to describe the game on looks alone. It does have a decades long history due to its short novel series during the era where Guin Saga and the Song of Fire and Ice (Game of Thrones) novels were in their full swing.

  • karmacoma

I can’t wait for this game. I really need to get around to finishing the first Witcher, so I can replay Witcher 2 on PC and then send that save file over to Witcher 3.

Unless it’s too intense for my laptop, in which case I’ll just buy it for PS4. :p
The graphics don’t actually look much better than The Witcher 2, but that game looked phenomenal so it’s not a big deal. It just makes it more likely that I’ll be able to run it.

    • Budgiecat

Why would you want to play on a laptop vs the PS4 anyway

      • karmacoma

Mostly for the cross-game save file. Although, I could always hook my laptop up to the TV and use a 360 controller if I desire 46″ greatness.

        • Budgiecat

Ah I see. Is the save file really that important?

          • karmacoma

I’d like to play it through at least once and see my how my actions affect little scenes. It was one of my favorite bits of Mass Effect.

Hell, I may double dip and get both versions if the PS4 version performs much better than what my laptop can handle.

            • Budgiecat

But you shouldn’t double dip. You need to save your money for the March Madness onslaught of games…

              • karmacoma

Well, I don’t think this will be out by then. :p
Also, I uhh.. kind of didn’t like the first inFamous so I doubt I’ll be getting Second Son. :x

                • Budgiecat

But there’s J-Stars Victory VS, South Park, Gundam Extreme VS Full Boost, Atelier Escha & Logy, Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes, Dark Souls II, Natural Doctrine, Super Robot Wars Z the 3rd, The Witch & The Hundred Knight, Deception IV: Blood Ties, and Sengoku Musou 4

                  • karmacoma

I’m holding out on MGSV until the second half comes out. I’m hoping they release a collection that’s the entire game in one box (on one disc?). Not digging that Kill Bill thing they’re doing with the game. I rarely import games so most of those games kind of don’t exist for me, although I’ve always wanted to play Super Robot Wars. Deception IV and Witch & The Hundred Knights are definite buys though.

    • LastBoss

Now I definitely agree with you 100℅

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

So, in order to save the man from being beaten, he’s already preparing to unsheath his sword? Lol. Either way, I’m not entirely sure how I feel about this.

I didn’t play the first two and I’m not fond of WRPGs, but I might be willing to give this a chance. I don’t have a PS4 or XBOX One, so I guess I’ll have to settle on getting it for PC when it comes out.

  • Elvick

I wish we could get a game that looks this impressive visually with Amano art design (or like Bravely Default, minus chibi characters in game).

The environments look awesome. I usually have more an issue with character design from WRPGs. Any good shots of the character models of the game yet? Or can I just look at Witcher 2 to get an idea?

And for those who have played the series, what’s the gameplay like?

    • badmoogle

Yeah this is true for me as well,i always like the environments in WRPGs but the character designs well…. not so much.
But i think the character designs in W3 are ok.

  • badmoogle

Off topic i know but these screens actually wetted my appetite for a next gen Dark/Demon’s Souls.

W3 is looking great i’m sure this game will have some really jaw dropping areas.
