Source claims slim to cost £189 with a game.

New PS Vita @ ShopTo.net

A ShopTo mailer sent out today lists “The New PS Vita Slim Console” as being available for pre-order tomorrow.

And on its back, a “reliable source” of VG247 claimed the PS Vita 2000, launched in Japan late last year, will be announced at tomorrow’s London event.

It is said to only be available in black at release and cost £189 with a game.

Considering ShopTo is a U.K. retailer and tomorrow’s event is in London, it is uncertain if the news will pertain to North America.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

  • Gigus

    Aww guess no vita TV.

    • Gariya

      Guess not.

Sony released Vita TV on Japan first because they had no competition there when it comes to set top box streaming services. And it flopped.

If it flopped in Japan, you can imagine easily how it would do in the west where it has to compete with Apple TV, Roku, etc.

      • Gigus

it failed japan? I thought it was popular there? That sucks.

        • Budgiecat

Japanese people buy handhelds so that they can play on the go due to hectic schedules and meet up physically with friends to play anywhere. It’s no like the West where people like to play at home and online….

          • Gigus

Yeah that is sadly true. Oh well. Doesn’t really stop me from playing my vita.

    • Budgiecat

The Vita TV kinda seems like it can discourage developers from taking risks by making PS4 games.

Plus, couldnt the PSP 3000 play on your TV. Why’d they make it so the Vita can’t thats weird….

      • Gigus

True, but I still wouldn’t mind having a vita tv. Oh well. The 3000 can play on the tv but not alot of people use it cause the cables were a bit expensive I think. It is weird the vita doesn’t have a tv output cable but I think thats what our mystery port was for. Hopefully they didn’t forget about that….. sadly I think they did :/

    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Nope. It was ignorant to think it was going to be there.

      • Karysonson

How so? it is a pretty slim console…

        • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

BEcause it has sold like shit, and well there is no need for it, and it cannot replace the PS Vita as the player for its game as it only supports games without touch controls.

      • Gigus

Wow, sorry mr. internetz. Joking aside, no need to be rude XD.

        • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Didn’t mean to sound rude just honest.

          • Gigus

still, calling someone ignorant is a bit off since no one has solid proof of what the announcement is about other then being vita related. And this coming from a retailer is still 50/50.

I’ll just wait till the announcement even if vita tv won’t be announced.

            • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

I am usually right when it comes to these events. I do apologize though. Sorry.

              • Gigus

Its ok lol. Im just being a jerk back for internet funsies. And if you’re assumption is right then you’re right. But theres nothing wrong with hoping for something different even though you know the inevitable. Even I know there is a bigger chance it won’t be vita tv. To be honest though, what I really want is new information on our damn mystery port on the vita and what its used for. someone on a different forum said its just an audio cable but that doesn’t make sense at all when you can use a regular auxiliary cord and the bluetooth feature.

  • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

You better announce some games tomorrow Sony!!!

    • Raiyu

Already said don’t expect any software announcements.

      • Gariya

        Shit, I forgot about that.

      • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

        Maybe Their Lying

        • Gariya

          I hope.

        • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

          They aren’t.

          • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

            :'(

            • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

*rubs your back* Sorry, but that is how it is.

  • McPoo

You can buy an original Vita, 8gb card and anywhere from one to ten games for £150 or less >_>

    • jujubee88

      lol Maybe in europe.

      • McPoo

In the UK the Vita is dirt cheap (and still not selling).

You can find the console preowned for less than £100, or new one with these games bundles for less than £150.

I’m surprised it’s not more popular tbh, especially with people buying PS4’s now.

Edit: Just seen on FB today actually: 3G Vita, 16gb memory card, starter pack and 10 games including LBP for £139.99.

  • http://Gematsu.com Vayne

Too bad the PS VITA has to be sustained by the location of the games in Japan, without them the VITA would be a disaster in the West.

    • Budgiecat

The same can be said for the 3DS. What top sellers for the 3DS are Western games?

      • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

Braverly Default or whatever I think

        • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

It is Bravely Default. And that is a Japanese game. There are 0 western top sellers for 3DS.

          • http://youtube.com/miyabigaming 武神水樹

            That’s bad

            • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

              Why? Western games typically suck.

              • 罪罰

                DAT BATTLE CRY

              • McPoo

As far as the 3DS goes I think you’re probably right. I can’t think of any decent western games for the 3DS off the top of my head.

                • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

                  Yah.

                • British_Otaku

I can think of a bunch of em, but all of them are digital download indie projects? Do they count?

                  • McPoo

Of course, and if you’ve got any suggestions then I’m all ears :)

                    • British_Otaku

Okay. Shantae (series), Mighty Switch Force (series), AiRace, VVVVVV, Gunman Clive, Jett Rocket and Mutant Mudds.

I mostly game on a Japanese 3DS so I had to think about the few localised for Japan and games I played on a EU 3DS. I bet there are many more even retail ones.

  • blank059

What is with the price? The Tearaway Vita bundle had LPB, Tearaway and a 16GB memory card for £160 (probably lower) on Amazon.

  • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Called it, this was pretty obvious.

  • Elvick

I just hope the OLED model isn’t* discontinued.

  • new_tradition

Ouch. £189 is about 350 Canadian dollars X_x

I know there are some market factors to consider, but even Vita bundles rarely go over 200 these days at retail…

  • jujubee88

I wonder if Sony knows the VITA is close to being hacked to run native code.

Some VITA game(s) has already been dumped.
