Anyone here try remote play yet? How good is it?

    • ddsfan2

I tried it with Tokyo Jungle. It works, but it has annoying amounts of lag at times. Still a nice feature though.

Why it wasn’t implemented for most/all games is beyond me.

      • icecoffemix

PS4 RP is far better than PS3 RP and it is a mandatory feature for every PS4 game that doesn’t use camera for gameplay (like playroom and something like just dance).

    • Bobby Jennings

It’s great for me. Haven’t had lag with it yet.

    • Leon Keyv

It works great. not really a fan a of the control though

Varies on the game. I played a shit ton of LEGO Marvel through remote play, mostly the open world stuff (which was a lot) and cleaning up trophies. I played a ton of Knack that way as well. Played both downstairs from my PS4 (directly below where my PS4 is).

I played some Assassin’s Creed 4 the other day and the button mapping is perfect on it. I’ll be doing all the optional open world stuff with remote play so I don’t take up the living room tv doing the tedious stuff.

Tried Warframe early on, but it needs the PSP claw to aim instead of using L to aim. So I hate playing it that way. Played a bit of Contrast near launch that way.

It all depends on your connection. I have issues with my internet in general, so have some connection issues at times. I don’t know whether I end up with a local or internet connection through remote play it’s not very clear to me.

But yeah, I love it overall.

I feel it’ll probably work the best when used for more simple games like Knack, LEGO games and things of that nature. Though when a developer actually puts thought into the button mapping, it makes a good case for just general use.

But it remains to be seen how often developers will nail the proper button mapping. At least for me, since the only full complex game I have is ACIV. Well, and Killzone: SF but I didn’t try that with remote play.

Just in case you didn’t know, use a cord, direct connection with your PS4 to your router/modem.

The PS4’s wireless chip will then be dedicated to just the VITA for Remote Play.

        • Articuno76

What I don’t get about this is why the PS4 is doing anything at all other than video compression.

Why can’t the video and everything be sent out over the router? Or if the PS4 wireless is doing the work why not just using the PS4?

It all seems very strange. I can get high quality youtube video streaming fine on the Vita anywhere in the house on the Vita. If I leave the room when using remote play it freaks out.

Read that title too fast and got hype. Metal Gear for Vita. Someday. Someday.

Dreaming is a dangerous thing friend.

  • bloodiOS

So, basically confirmed that Remote Play works? That’s rather… pointless.

    • icecoffemix

What is? The confirmation or RP?

And it’s not like he prepared an entire show just for this, it’s a fukcin twitter post man.

      • bloodiOS

It’s nice that he wants to show things but even without anything shown, we already know that it’s coming to the PS4 (there’s even a confirmed release date) and it’s already a given that the PS4 version of the game will be playable on the Vita via Remote Play (since it’s a mandatory feature.) We didn’t need an article for this, hence pointless…

        • icecoffemix

Hint: Not everybody aware of this and RP being as it is. This article is not solely made for you to read.

          • bloodiOS

            Okay, I’m sorry…

  • DarthBrian

Taking Transfarring to the next level!

  • icecoffemix

Kojima is part of OLED master race confirmed. :P

    • bloodiOS

Good screen is hard to resist.

    • 罪罰

kojima doesn’t care about plastic chimichangas

    • tubers

Because the 2K’s screen is far from flattering with offscreen photos uploaded on the net.. compared to OLED ;)

      • icecoffemix

I don’t have a 2K tv on my toilet, nor can I bring it on public transportation. ;)

Anyway, I’m obviously talking about his Vita of choice, with the new model available in Japan which drop OLED for pleb LCD yet proven to be popular. He know his stuff enough to get the superior one.

  • jujubee88

I wonder how Kojima feels about Playstation Now. He liked the concept of taking a game wherever you go (hence his horrible “transfarring” coined term).

    • Elvick

I like how he made a huge deal about that stupid term, and then they barely did anything with it or Vita… and cross-save is a thing. I don’t know why he coined the phrase at all.

      • César H. Sandoval

        Hideo loves his engrish.

        • totoro

No, not normal vengeance, revenge… with a vengeance.

  • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

And thanks to RP, Kojima will probably not do an native MGS for Vita anytime soon. =(

  • shogunknight

Seems like the vita remote play is a really serious feature for the PS4. Thats good, heh, how bout the other way around Sony (Vita to PS4)? :)
