Final Fantasy XIV PS4 release date offically announced
See the U.S. box art and collector's edition.Following its announcement during the latest Letter from the Producer LIVE, Square Enix has sent out the official press release dating the PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn for release on April 14.
Alongside the announcement, Square Enix revealed the game’s U.S. PlayStation 4 box art, as well as the contents of the collector’s edition.
The $79.99 collector’s edition includes:
- Special box featuring artwork by Yoshitaka Amano
- Art Book – The Art of Eorzea: A Realm Reimagined
- Special Soundtrack -The Sounds of Eorzea-
- Seventh Umbral Era Special Movie Content Disc – The Waning of the Sixth Sun
- Art Card Set
- Themed Security Token
- In-Game Items – Coeurl Mount, Behemoth Barding, Baby Behemoth minion, Helm of Light, Fat Chocobo Mount, and Wind-up Moogle minion
Pre-orders for both editions include two in-game items—the Mog Cap & Cait Sith Doll minion—and the ability access the game early on April 11.
Existing players of Final Fantasy XIV who have a registerd copy of the collector’s edition, or who utilized the digital collector’s edition upgrade service, will automatically receive the Fat Chocobo Mount and Wind-Up Moogle minion items making their debut in the PlayStation 4 collector’s edition.
PlayStation 3 players of Final Fantasy XIV will be able to transfer their accounts to the PlayStation 4 version for free starting April 11. Once transferred, PlayStation 4 players will no longer be able to access the PlayStation 3 version. To play both versions, players must purchase the PlayStation 4 system version separately.
A public beta for the PlayStation 4 version will begin on February 22.
