Small update in this month's issue of V-Jump magazine.

V-Jump this month has a brief update on Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth.

Not much is shared in terms of new information, but two small images featuring the main character, and his Agumon and Palmon, battling a Peckmon, Guardromon, and another Digimon are shown.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth

The text reads:

A grand story of Digimon and boys!

A super evolution four years after [the previous Digimon Story game]. The veil is lifted on a dramatic story that begins with an encounter between boys and various Digimon.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is coming to PS Vita in 2015 in Japan.

They’re going out of their way to hide the MC’s face. I think it’s pretty clear that the Devil Survivor guy is doing the art again.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      pretty much

    • Detrimont

      Suzuhito Yasuda

    • bloodiOS

      The face was shown, once:

  • BigDix

    Boys!?

    Mmm, boys….

    • Renaldi Saputra

so, any girls chara on this game are traps

  • bloodiOS

The hairstyle and goggles look an awful lot like this guy:

    • Renaldi Saputra

yep, most likely Yasuda Suzuhito strikes again

  • MyBodyIsReady

Would be cool if the Vita had a great Digimon game to combat Pokemon. Digimon has a crazy amount of potential. Graphics look awesome too.

    • Renaldi Saputra

well, pokemon won’t be on sony console.. maybe never

      • MyBodyIsReady

        …yeah I realise that

    • bloodiOS

      Here’s the thing though:
      1) 3DS outsells Vita by a large margin
      2) Pokémon is way more popular than Digimon
There’s no way Digimon (on Vita) can combat that.

      • MyBodyIsReady

Yeah, I know. But Digimon games could be so much better, plus It would be nice to have an alternative on Vita other than Invisimals. I know the Vita won’t ever have as a big a seller as Pokemon.

I was talking about quality of the games rather than sales

        • bloodiOS

Well, it should just focus on doing fine as it is now. Trying to be as successful as Pokémon is simply aiming too high. It’s like asking God Eater and Toukiden to be as successful as Monster Hunter.

EDIT: Since I missed your edit earlier…
If you’re just talking about quality only then what’s the point of trying to combat Pokémon then? A better game isn’t recognized as such if it doesn’t have the sales to back it up. So really, it simply needs to focus on being what it is. It doesn’t need to compare itself to Pokémon.

          • Renaldi Saputra

the core of pokemon is competitive battling.. digimon won’t be appropriate for that thing if I can say. making a good story, characters, graphics, sounds and gameplay are the ways digimon can do

        • OverlordZetta

In general Digimon games are usually pretty great, I find. Sometimes inconsistent from game to game, but that’s life.

      • Renaldi Saputra

        that’s the truth, though

        • Renaldi Saputra

these downvotes, they’re really angry apparently

      • jujubee88

Yes, that’s a “thing”. Very observant. But it’s got nothing to do with Digimon combating Pokemon against being a quality product and fun game.

        • bloodiOS

Actually, that is the thing, that you somehow failed to see. How do you combat another game? Based on quality. And just what determines which one has better quality? Opinions. So there, you and I can see Digimon as the better series, but if it doesn’t have the sales to back it up, it’s meaningless. And when you’re up against one title that is more popular and is also on a platform that outsells the platform this game is on, it’s even more pointless. Because no matter what, the opinion of the majority would be that Pokemon is the better game. This game and this series shouldn’t be combating Pokemon, nor should it be compared to Pokemon. It just has to be its own game and does its own thing, and let the fans enjoy it for what it is. Trying to combat Pokemon just sounds like an unhealthy obsession.

          • jujubee88

Nope. It’s a game and you only have time enough game(s) “x” “y” and “z”. You don’t live forever and (most of us) don’t have time to play every game we hear of or even some of us only have a VITA or 3DS. We know were the stats are, fine, I know.

Now this is where you and I disagree. AFAIK the correlation between games and how good they are is not a straight line from how well they sell (like you claim). It depends on a variety of reasons most of which are totally dependent on the variable of subjective tastes one has. A person can not have a 3DS and not like Pokemon. Hard to believe for many, but it’s a reality (devoid of cognitive disconce that, “Pokemon IS ALL!!1”.

Also, you are the one drawing to conclusions that other people are saying Digimon should battle Pokemon in sales and merchandising appeal. Don’t frame me that way or others. It’s totally stupid and you know it.

Then play games and be happy. No need to worry that this game on this system should try to be better to combat the other game on the other system.

Nothing too hard to believe, given that Pokemon is available on more than just game consoles, so that’s just more like common sense. In the end, those variety of reasons are all determined by one single thing, one’s opinions on the matters. It never is about how much it sells that makes it better but that people think it’s good enough to warrants that much sales. But that’s just the mass, one can simply choose to ignore that and enjoys what’s there.

When all is fine and on topic, then suddenly someone starts bringing up an unrelated game on an unrelated platform and hoping that this game should be better to combat the other one, there isn’t much else to go on.

  • Mnoz

So I have to learn japanese before 2015. I NEED. this game. I remember enjoying Digimon World 2003 on the PS1 soooooo freaking much.

  • MrKappa

The game is a year away from release, I don’t think they should be concerned with minor info updates like this just yet.

  • Mnoz

BTW that third digimon is otamamon.

  • Elvick

Got Digimon World Re: Digitize today in the mail.

Should hold me over for awhile. Hopefully I can get Digimon Adventure a bit cheaper than it currently is too to tide me over until this.

    This looks fantastic.

    • Renaldi Saputra

      the PSP one?

      • Elvick

Both games I’m referring to are for PSP, yeah.

I don’t remember what the 3DS title was… I know it’s the Digimon World game with more content, maybe I switched them around. (titles)

        • DyLaN

          The 3DS R:D have a “Decode” subtitle.

          • Elvick

            Ah, that’s right. Thanks

  • jujubee88

The game looks good. Also, since when did Gematsu’s comment section turn into a battle ground of Pokemon vs Digimon? LOL!

    • Renaldi Saputra

      maybe they’re bored of everyday-pokemon-talking..

  • bloodiOS

No joke, from a normal, on-topic discussion then suddenly out of nowhere comes a comment about hoping this game should be better to combat an unrelated game on unrelated platform. And then comes more comments, posted after doing some selective reading. Freaking wonderful…

You should have said that before. You do know your having the extra formatting makes you stand out like your the one ring leader. behind this convo.

That was me. I’m sorry. I feel pretty horrible that you some how brought that quote back after I had deleted it.

Tbh, I was just infuriated that you didn’t seem to acknowledge that the ‘time+money+preference’ variables are a combat for any media you want to consume over another. I actually don’t care about if someone else enjoys this game or Pokemon nor do I want to see that sales stats behind Pokemon or care about Digimon selling half that (at best). Hell, I don’t even really care about marketing of this game or Pokemon (unless I see something that will be in the game I like). I have the time, money, and taste only to say that in a combat of Digimon vs Pokemon that I choose Digimon.

Don’t even get me started on my history of how I used to hate Digimon. I’ve not got all the time in the world (I should say!) XD

Like it’s suppose to matter that I somehow stand out for whatever reason.

So, in the end, you only care about your own preferences. Well, there’s nothing wrong with that.
