Planned size for the A+B Pack Set, producer shares on Twitter.

Dekamori Senran Kagura

Dekamori Senran Kagura, Marvelous AQL’s upcoming PS Vita download rhythm game spin-off of the handheld action game series, will be around three to four gigabytes in size, producer Kenichiro Takaki confirmed on Twitter.

Specifically, the size applies to A+B Pack Set. The game will be released in three formats: A-Pack includes 13 characters; B-Pack 11; and the A+B Pack Set includes everything in both packs.

Not surprising. I’m just surprised that went DD only for this. Hell, even Terraria got a physical release in Japan lol.

It also effectively means we don’t get to import it unless we go through the hoops of swapping accounts back and forth.

A great loss for the small SK Vita fanbase in the west, as I doubt it’ll be localized soon and rythm games are very playable without knowing moonrunes.

      • TheExile285

Well as long as we get Shinovi Versus I’m good.

        • Taedirk

Hopefully Xseed will come out and confirm it with a date soon.

I remember them saying this was their challenging part of releasing their first spin-off title.

So I’m guessing that they’re playing it safe. Instead of doing a physical release, they went with DD. I think…that’s the main reason.

    • almostautumn

Is it confirmed digital-only? I guess I misread that Siliconera article: I thought there was going to be a premium price physical version?

        • almostautumn

          Ah, that’s a shame.
At least there’s the PSP edition though. Doesn’t require an arm and a leg to switch accounts there.

          • TheExile285

There is no PSP version. That was a mistranslation.

            • almostautumn

…but for real: that’s quite a shame. I really might not ever play this now, because the way Vita handles account-switching is enough of a pain for me to avoid buying anything from the JPN store. Free demos are one thing, but to go through all that effort for a title that I paid money for— just not worth it.

              • OverlordZetta

Really wish they could have just handled it like PS3s – if it’s on the system, you can use it. Or maybe make a function where if you download it from a matching account, it works,

                • almostautumn

PS3 handles it best, for sure. But even then I’m okay with having to play it on my JPN account as I’m not a stickler for trophies. At least with PSP it was just a quick delete and then sign-in: only took a few seconds to do. But with the Vita it’s really too much of a hassle to be bothered with. Switching accounts to check out free demos is okay, but when you have to do that for things you paid good money for and technically own it’s really just not worth it.

              • Tenshiken

It takes about 5 mins to switch accounts, it’s not that painful. I switched accounts to play SV so I could get the DLC, and it was definitely worth it.

                • almostautumn

I’ve done it plenty, but my point isn’t that it’s an arm and a leg to do, but rather that to perform those actions for access to stuff you paid for and own— it’s just ridiculous. Don’t feel like I really own much of anything when I have to go through setting up my Vita each and everytime.

Might I add: I’ve custom numbers for my router, so I have to manually do all of the IP Address, Subnet, and yadda yadda every single time. So it’s a bit of an extra pain for me.

Terraria is getting big in Japan you know?

just searched it on youtube and you’ll see a lot of players playing it along with Minecraft ^^

      • TheExile285

Still…. the game is 65MB lol

        • PrinceHeir

actually the demo i downloaded is around 250MB, not sure if the patched are there already or something.

and Japan loves physical editions as i too ^^

they even had a physical edition of Darkstalkers Resurrection and Dungeons and Dragons Shadow of Mystara :P

  • kurosan9712

Lol. Digital Only=100% no buy. I’d probably buy it sooner or later it it had a physical release. If it doesn’t – not even a chance, I hate digital only releases.
And I use the JPN store, so I can, just don’t want.

    • almostautumn

Well you clearly don’t use the JPN store, do you?

      • kurosan9712

I only use it. Just bought Criminal Girls Invitation today there.
I could provide a screenshot or a video from my VitaTV, but I don’t care enough.
Digital only releases are sh*t I will never support.
        I doesn’t even mean I don’t buy games digitally, but when a game doesn’t have a physical release – I won’t buy it ever.

        • OverlordZetta

          That’s completely asinine.

          • kurosan9712

Well, you guys enjoy being s****ed on by companies which make games digital only. I don’t.
There are games I won’t care how I’ll buy, but there being a physical release is a very important thing to me, because I like physical releases better.
I only bought like 3 games digitally anyways.

    • DenjinJ

I hear you. I put a $20 limit on downloadable titles, and making something so big download-only is just stupid. It better be at least 60 times as worthwhile as a 50MB game.

I’ve bought a bunch of smaller downloadables, and they’re good, but it’s essential to realize that they have an expiry date, unlike hard copies. When support for the system ends and my current console breaks down… that’s the last I’ll see of all those games, assuming pirates don’t step in to free the system by then. For that reason, no matter how awesome a game is, if it’s DL only (with the assumption of DRM like binding to account or console) then it must be cheap or it’s just a non-starter.

  • bloodiOS

Hmm, that falls within the limit of a Vita game card. Well, being digital-only would certainly feels more natural if Xseed ever localize it.

  • Six

I look forward to this game completely destroying the video game industry.

    Or something.

  • new_tradition

Are memory cards cheaper in Japan? 3-4 gb games as DD only make me cringe >.<

    • MXC

Yeah and even better for them they got a 64 gb memory card recently for the same price as the west’s 32 gb memory card.

  • Elvick

    Doom. I hate digital only in Japan, then we can’t even import. );

    edit; plus with my 4GB card… :

I wish the Vita at least had an easy to switch account system like PS3 does.

  • PrinceHeir

lol tbh i thought the title was talking about how big their boobs are XD
