Can’t wait to play this one.

Gust, Compile Heart, Imageepoch, Tri-Ace, Monolith Soft and Level 5 are the best JRPG developers of that exists today.

    • Anime10121

I like Gust and some Compile Heart products, but to put them in the “best JRPG” dev group along the likes of Tri-Ace (even if they have been slipping lately), Level 5, and ESPECIALLY Monolith Soft, is completely and utterly ludicrous! This coming from a fan of all of the devs listed (well besides Imageepoch), but Gust and Compile Heart and even Tri Ace just dont compete with Monolith and Level 5…

Add Atlus, Falcom, Namco (Tales) to yours and my list is complete.

Monolith Soft is totally own tier.

        • Budgiecat

          Why you leave out Mistwalker….

          • KiQun

            Ouch, forgot that.

            • Budgiecat

Allright I’ll let it slide just this once…

          • Anime10121

Because they made three well recieved (though I personally only liked 2) console games and disappeared into a sea of mobile :(

          • Elvick

They didn’t develop their own games though.

        • Anime10121

If Falcom gave us more TitS, I’d nearly put them on a level with Monolith Soft too :P

But yeah Atlus, and Namco are top notch too!

Being absorbed by Tecmo Koei is the best thing that has ever happened to Gust.

Atelier games just look downright beautiful on that Dynasty Warriors engine.

    • Budgiecat

      What are you talking about?

      • Budgiecat

Don’t downvote me answer the question….

        • Anime10121

He means that when TecmoKoei bought Gust, they gave them access to all of their development tools/engines to help Gust make a better game easier, and with finer results.

Gust chose to use the Dynasty Warriors engine to develop Atelier E&L on, and you can see between screenshots of the first title and this one, that it VASTLY improved the looks of the game, and considering the battlesystem, it also improved that part of the game too.

I wonder if changing the engine will have any effect on the chances of a Plus version for Vita.

            • Anime10121

It shouldnt, as the Dynasty Warriors engine works on Vita as well… It’ll likely have a Vita version, just like all the rest of the Ateliers of the previous gen :P

    • Elvick

      Not for western releases.

      I miss my limited editions.

Always been interested into playing the Atelier series, but couldn’t get into it. Been interested in the game-play though. I look forward to playing it. Still, March? Too many games coming out in that month… my wallet..

    • Anime10121

I’d recommend starting with Ayesha rather than the Arland games Rarona (unless you choose to wait for the improved Rarona remake)! I had A LOT more fun with Ayesha than Rarona, but I prefer the artstyle of the Arland games (DAT KISHIDA) vastly over the “Dusk” series.

    • Ladius

Start with Ayesha, it’s more friendly to newcomers compared to the Arland trilogy and it’s the first chapter in the series that is continuing with Escha & Logy. More importantly, it’s a gorgeous game with a great setting and art direction and a killer soundtrack.

My wallet is not ready, I’m beginning to see this trend of games that I want, bombarding Q1, then leaving me dry for the rest of the year. I’ll have to properly plan in the future to save money during the latter half to spend during Q1 if I want those titles Day 1 going forward.
