Become Kei, a high school student given the power of "Mind."

Aksys Games is localizing Acquire’s Persona-like dungeon crawler Mind Zero, a prematurely posted GameStop product listing has revealed.

Mind Zero

The product page lists the game for a May 27 release at the standard $39.99 PS Vita game price point. There’s even a full English description to accompany it:

From Aksys Games and Acquire, the studios that brought Gladiator Begins comes Mind Zero, an exciting dungeon-crawler RPG for the PlayStation Vita! Kei, a high school student is given the power of “Mind,” the ability to control a persona with powerful abilities. However, “Mind” is much more than it seems. With the government and others tracking them down, what will Kei and his friends discover about themselves, but more importantly, about this mysterious power?

Features:

  • 50+ Hours of Gameplay – Mind Zero offers not only replayability, but non-stop action! Complete the game and unlock a new dungeon to play!
  • Mind Blowing Battle System – Mind Zero‘s battle system offers players challenging action. To succeed learning to use your “Mind” and mind is pivotal.
  • Free Roaming Map – Allows players to buy items, advance the story or enter dungeons to level up!
  • Unique Characters & Moves – Each party member has a unique “Mind” and abilities. Switch out party members to advance their skills and master all characters!
  • A Compelling Story – Mind Zero is not only action-packed game, but a complex, suspenseful story. Delve deep into the mythos and compelling characters as the story unfolds.

We expect an official announcement shortly.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

    Fuck. YES!

    ITS HAPPENING!!

  • Elvick

This year is being so good to my PS Vita. <3

My wallet is being abused though. ;3

  • icecoffemix

Might get this instead of Demon Gaze, or both.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Demon Gaze is better, imo, but Mind=0 is still good in its own way. I just hope they keep the original VA.

      • icecoffemix

In what way if I may ask? I’m really not keen with the lack of character significance on DG.

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, in my opinion… I don’t really care for the 3D battles in Mind=0. I prefer the route Demon Gaze took with static images. Don’t get me wrong though, I enjoy both games and they both have a customization system (Demon Gaze has one for items, Mind=0 has one for skills). I’d say that Mind=0’s story is better, but… The game ends on a cliffhanger, which sucks, so there better be a sequel (Mind=1?) announced, lol.

          • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Each character in Mind=0 actually plays a role in the story though, so you would probably enjoy this more than Demon Gaze and not be as annoyed by the 3D battles as I was.

            • icecoffemix

Aaand that cliffhanger thing kinda kill my hype for this game, since it also didn’t sell well in Japan I’m not sure if they ever gonna make a sequel. Damn.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Yeah, it got a lot of 1 star reviews on Amazon.jp from customers regarding the ending. You know, just typical stuff you’d expect:

“What is this? Where’s the rest of the game?!”

                “Is this really all?”

                “I finished, but didn’t ww”

Back to my original point though… I love the artwork in the game for static images and portraits used, but when you see something like this:

                • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

                  Turned into something like this… It becomes disheartening ;w;

                  • icecoffemix

                    Ehh, seems a bit better than P4G. I think I’ll manage. :P

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Funny you should compare it to Persona :p

                    • icecoffemix

Yeah, heard a lot about it.

I really hope this release has extra dungeon or something so they can properly finish the game. Not hoping much though, Aksyss probably picked it since the license is cheap after bombing in Japan. :/

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

To be fair, Acquire/Zero Div games never sell well anyway, lol. They always make niche games that cater to such a small crowd, so small sales really isn’t surprising.

                  • bloodiOS

Whoa! And it doesn’t even run at the Vita’s native res? What an ugly mess! They might as well just use static 2D sprites and have the game runs at 15fps instead. At least looking at good artworks on the Vita’s OLED would be something to behold…

                    • MrFinalgamer

it looks like it has slightly better character models than P3P…that’s just sad

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Yeah, I took a handful of screenshots (like I usually do for Vita games) and it looks nice on the Vita, but I’m still not comfortable with the 3D battles. At least the pictures come out properly, unlike my God Eater 2 screenshots anyway, lol.

I’m not sure why the quality is just so terrible when you take one in that game. It just looks so grainy and shit.

                    • icecoffemix

Not as terrible as Valhalla Knight 3 really, it looks like mess on Vita and even worse on screenshot. :P

                    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well yeah, but… It’s Valhalla Knight, lol. I kind of expect crap from it >.>

      • MrFinalgamer

for someone that isn’t too fond of 1st person RPGs, would you recommend Demon Gaze?

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, the one thing that tends to push people away from these games is the difficulty. A lot of them are just brutal (looking at you PSN Wizardry, lol) to newcomers. Fortunately, Demon Gaze is actually friendly to newcomers, so it’s rather rare for you to die in the game, unless you are just downright totally unprepared and try to fight a boss while being 5-10 levels lower than it.

          • MrFinalgamer

okay, i’ll probably give it a go then, especially with it being after the craziness that is Feb & March

  • AlphaSixNine

    ALL MY WANT. OYES!!

Man… I have so many games lined up for Vita now. I was right to believe on my Vita to pull through!

  • MrFinalgamer

i actually saw this minutes before it was posted here on gamestop. i was gonna talk about it but i guess Sal beat me to it. this is basically a persona clone, so i might give this a go

      Renge’s eyes bother me so.

    • Elvick

Looks like she’s getting ready to fight.

  • jujubee88

I finally get to play a 3D dungeon RPG. :)

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Yes and no, lol. Exploration still takes place in first person, but when the battle begins, it switches to 3D :p

      • jujubee88

First person is in 2D? Huh? Is it defying the rules of mathematics? XD

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Not really. I’m sure it has been done a lot since then, but the last time I remember playing a dungeon RPG like this was Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land for PS2 (the last Wizardry we got until the PSN game). You explored areas by walking around in first person, then when the battle began, it showed 3D monsters.

It was a little different in this case though since the player still had a first person perspective, despite the battle being in 3D, so it just moved the camera when you would charge forward to attack and whatnot.

This is the kind of thing you can expect when exploring dungeons:

          • jujubee88

It’s on a 3D plane by definition. Movements use the x, y plane to navigate about an object the length of (static) z units.

          • Budgiecat

With the annoying sluggish grid animation movement for no reason (the third Wizardry DS game btw changed this by having fluid 1st perso dungeon movement)

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I still don’t see this as a problem. Hell, Knights of the Round doesn’t even let you walk backwards in a dungeon. When you push down, it makes you do a 180 instead, which is kind of lame. Dungeon RPGs aren’t exactly known for being fluid or advanced, so it’s kind of silly to complain about that sort of thing :p

              • Budgiecat

Why would Wizardry bother to change it then

Its silly to complain about not using proper controls and wanting decent animation? Just to be fine with complacent stagnancy? So if thats the case why are we not just still playing with Vector graphics?

                • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

                  Lol

Wizardry has changed a lot over the years actually. Some dungeon RPGs use the down button to perform a 180 while others allow you to walk backwards instead. I prefer the latter, personally. We’ve been down this road before though, you and I, and I’ve already told you time after time again as to why things remain the same in this particular genre.

Going into a dungeon RPG and expecting a lot is like going into an open world RPG and expecting little.

  • Warboss Aohd

    ‘Government tracking them down’

you know in retrospect, i’m kinda shocked that was a plot point in the Persona games, especially in 1, Innocent Sin, and Eternal Punishment when they were numerous (and if a certain mook is to be trusted, there are Persona Users worldwide, or at least in Germany.) And could summon them anywhere, anytime.

    • MrFinalgamer

would be nice to see a Persona game that’s not in Japan, just for a change of pace (although i doubt this will EVER happen

      • Warboss Aohd

it could happen if they wanted to, hell a conflict between the Persona Users of multiple countries would be pretty cool. (granted we’d probably be the Japanese Persona Users, who inexplicably are more skilled and stronger.)

or to go even further, World War 2, with Persona Using Special Ops.

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, they could easily have something similar to Interpol and have overseas governments which are doing the same thing Japan’s group is doing. Eventually, they would have to work together with characters from Europe, America, etc. and it would basically amount to people from all over the world coming together to save, well… The world :p

          • Warboss Aohd

            theres an idea.

          • Budgiecat

They could also travel the globe via funding from the Speedwagon Foundation with the main character high school student from Japan, his ex rival high school classmate, his grumpy grandfather from Britain, a middle eastern mystic man, a comic relief Frenchman, and a semi sentient dog all with their own Personas ready to battle the evils of ZA WARUDO!

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Don’t mention Speedwagon. People are already mad that he’s not in the NA version of ASB, lol. Apparently they couldn’t get the voice actor for him. That’s a story for a different time though.

        • MrFinalgamer

unless the people we’re up against are like the cast of P1 and 2 which can basically hold multiple personas…which means we’re in deep shit

  • tubers

    Dubbed, subbed or both?

  • jujubee88

Thinking about it, this is freaking random. It’s a game worth localizing and putting on retail though. It’s got that P4 perfume. Fair enough!

I hope its good and does well (sales wise) so Aksys can keep on localizing VITA games. ^_^

  • new_tradition

lol, I was just thinking about this game! I know once the plethora of Persona announcements came the hype for this game went down, but I was still curious about it.

May 27th, eh? Better try to get a Vita by then ^^

EDIT: So they are calling them persona? I guess it’s not an original word in the first place…

Hmm… they actually used that word in the description…

Can’t say I was interested in it, but good for the people who were (especially now that X-Seed DID tease the Acquire game I was interested in for 2014 release)

    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

      What game is that?

      • icecoffemix

        Most likely Akiba’s Trip 2

Damn it, Vita is killing (my wallet) in 2014!

        • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Oh I see. I didn’t care for what I saw of that game so eh. But yah we are finally getting the stockpiled rpgs from Japan. It is like I said the Vita has a decent amount of games but they are stuck in Japan and now we are getting them dumped on us. Our poor wallets!

          • MrFinalgamer

now if Bamco would do the same with the 2 Taes of games, and Squeenix with Type-0, and Sega with VC 3…

            • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Technically Type-0 and VC3 is PSP but I do want those. And yah seriously stupid bastards at Bamco need to get off their asses and give us Tales of ‘X’ R.

              • MrFinalgamer

if the localization team at sony convinces any of them to bring over their games, then god damn is the vita slowly becoming a great successor to the PSP

                • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Mmmhm. 3DS is also a RPG powerhouse. *looks at poor Wii U*

                  • MrFinalgamer

it is getting X and SMT x FE at some point (which i hope is soon). other than that though…yeah. then again the Wii never had a big library of JRPGs, but there’s smash 4, and hopefully a metroid game (which i hope is a sequel to fusion, because god damn it’s been like 10 years since that came out!)

                    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Yah. I am just sad it has only a handful of good games. I am definitely excited for X and SMTxFE (which we seriously need to hear more on… :/). I don’t care much for Smash anymore but yes a new Metroid would be lovely. There is also Zelda which I love too.

            • icecoffemix

Nah, those big companies won’t ever bother moreso since two of those are PSP game.

              • MrFinalgamer

bamco did bring over 1 of the 3 tales games on psp…maybe we can hope they do the same? plus they’ve been localizing a whole lot of tales games!

                • icecoffemix

Now you wonder why it’s only 1 out of 3 :P

Furthermore, PSP was far more succesful compared to Vita. I suggest not to get your hope up.

              • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Tales of ? R only then. But Bamco are bastards and refuse to do so. Though we don’t know what Square is up to. They could be working on a Vita port of Type-0 if… bahaahahah no they aren’t. They are working on shit mobile game ‘x’.

                • MrFinalgamer

which ironically is that port of Type-0 (or sequel or prequel, i can’t remember)

                  • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Prequel. But they are working on far more mobile games than just that trust me. That is all they are doing now. I mean they keep saying they are working on 15 but ha.

                • icecoffemix

Nope, not happening really. They’re too big to care about few tens of thousands sales at most and too proud to license their IP to external publisher.

                  It’s a wish-wash :(

                  • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

                    LIke I said bastards.

                    • icecoffemix

                      Yeah.

Sometimes I wish they implode and let more competent publisher pick the IP. Bamco has been sorta good these days though.

                    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Eh I would agree they are doing better, but they are still up in their arses for money.

                    • Budgiecat

a lot of these companies are out of touch with their customer relations; a poor lack of direct communication…maybe its the language barrier and the poor Western publishing divisions they have.

Direct intervention. This is what enabled Saint Seiya Brave Soldiers to be localized (some SS fans ran up to a Namco employee at a convention and begged) and for S-E, the developers had no idea that Bravely Default would have an outside audience in Japan savoring for their game which they thought would be dead in the West and were ‘deeply moved’ when found out.
They need to set up better dialogues with the West to learn more about what they want so they can further trail blaze to the West…
For this, they need to make a 00 Raiser Quantum Burst system…

                    • icecoffemix

They should strive to become Gundam.

                  • MrFinalgamer

the thing that angers me about the whole type-0 thing is that it’s been confirmed by tabata himself that the translation was basically done, but square never let them bring it over (since apparently square translates stuff, THEN decides whether to localize it or not) so if they already put money on translation, why not release it and try to make SOME money back!?

                    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

If that localization procedure is true/accurate that is the stupidest shit I have ever heard. There is a reason they went into the hole and that is one of them. >:/

            • Wolf Star

I have completely forgotten about Type-0
That to the point as of now, I don’t care anymore. The 2 tales games, if it gets localized that’s a day 1 purchase from me :) Sega already have said No to Valkyria Chronicles 3 on localization.

            • Renaldi Saputra

              Bamco should do digimon, duh..

              • MrFinalgamer

it’s still a long time before that releases so i think we can wait on that one for a while

                • Renaldi Saputra

I mean localizing Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode ASAP.. The Cyber Sleuth one is still in 2015, so we shouldn’t worry much about it

            • Budgiecat

Also Monster Hunter (even though I’m not that big a fan of Monster Hunter)

Nintendo must have some type of lock on Capcom to make new main MH games (not a rehashed older title or MMO) or Sony pissed Capcom off or something because everyone knows a MH game would sell Vitas like crazy in Japan and arguably would look better on the Vita screen vs the 3DS, provided Capcom actually put some effort into it and didnt just continue to rehash their MH PS2 engine.

        • Audie Bakerson

That’s the one (though I was planning on the PS3 version).

        • Renaldi Saputra

          source?

          • icecoffemix

An image they teased back then, a silhouette matched with Akiba’s Trip 2 character among others.

  • PrinceHeir

lol i almost forgotten about this game :D

glad it’s coming along! more Vita games is always a good thing!

  • Renaldi Saputra

    as I expected

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

What could possibly have made you expect we were ever getting this game localized…?

No, really. I’m curious. This even surprised me.

      • Renaldi Saputra

I’ve read a link from my friend contaning the gamestop website about mind=0.. and it’s not a lie after all

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Ah. I thought you meant you expected this to be localized, lol. I was about to say… That’s pretty out there :p

  • Alos88

Has anyone here played the import version? What’s it like?

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

      Got it right here, lol.

If you have anything specific you’d like to ask about it, that would be easier to answer than “What’s it like?”

EDIT: Maybe the video I provided below will be enough to answer any questions you may have. If not though, feel free to ask.

      • Alos88

I’d like to know what the story and combat are like in particular, and thank you for providing the video :)

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, without giving much away… The story is pretty simple in the beginning. It starts out with a police investigation and a group of high school students are involved (Persona 4 anyone? Lol), then it just snowballs from there and you find out that the incident goes much deeper than anyone could have expected, basically.

The combat itself is pretty easy if you’re familiar with elements and such. Some elements do more damage against others, so it’s good to keep track of what elements the enemies are and have specific characters attack specific monsters to hit their weakness. You can use physical attacks from your physical body against enemies, but this is generally not advisable since this poses a risk to death.

It’s better to use your MIND and summon. The summon will take damage instead of you when it’s on the field, but when it drops to 0, you will run out of MIND and be unable to summon it again until later, so you need to be careful about how you use your skills and such. Otherwise, you may find your MIND is gone and your physical body is left vulnerable to attacks.

          • TheExile285

            How’s the end game content?

Hrm… I don’t really recall any end game content actually. It has been a while, but… I know there were different difficulties you could play on. I was going to play on Expert next since I went through on Normal at first.

My backlog is still fairly big right now though, lol. Honestly, I probably won’t ever get back to it =3=

EDIT: Also, on a random note, thanks for subscribing! Er… If that was you anyway :p

          • Budgiecat

Pfft…why’d that other guy try to defend the game and say its nothing like Persona at all….

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

              No idea.

  • crimsonidol

Personally not a game I really care for (yet, it might change), but nice to see some unexpected announcements incoming.

  • Alkhan

I’m not going to reply to all the people calling this a poor Persona clone or “shovelware” because that’ll be a waste of time. Instead I’ll just say this–

It’s a Persona clone but is that a bad thing?

Would you prefer a CoD clone? Another ecchi moe game? Another MH clone? More ports? Or how about no games at all?

It’s not like we’re getting a crap ton of original non-indie games anyway.

I’d rather have a Persona clone than the alternatives.

    • Altin

      I still remember when people called VC2 a Persona-clone x3

      • Alkhan

        Valkyria Chronicles 2?

        • Altin

Yes, sorry for having used the initials only :D

          • Alkhan

I thought you may have been talking about another game with those initials since I couldn’t possibly see how VC2 could be called a Persona clone…

But of course people will never cease to amaze me with their ignorance >->

            • Altin

You would be really surprised how many people thought of that :D

      • MrFinalgamer

the hell? unless they’re talking about the outings with different characters (which is no where near as interesting as social link events), and that it takes place in a high school. for fuck sake one’s a turn based-real time-strategy-third person shooter RPG (which saying it outloud makes no sense), and the other is a turn based game XD

        • Altin

And this is where for some people the similiarities begin and they can claim such stuff. Reminds me of some Vita games that are constantly accused of being a MH-Ripoff, like Soul Sacrifice for example.

    • farios

It’s a bad thing because the comparison between this and Persona would be inevitable

    • MaximDualBlade

I had never thought of it like that. Nice

    • dior

I’ve had the JP version for a while. It actually is, just a horrible poor quality Persona clone though. Find it disrespectful tbh, making something this shitty rip-off of my favorite game OAT.

      • Hikari Langley

Mind Zero wasn’t crappy, it was rather decent. But I guess people have a problem with getting over the First Person view which is a shame.

        • Budgiecat

There doesn’t seem to like even be a point to the choppy grid based first person viewpoint dungeon exploration if there’s 3rd person character models in battle which just leads me to believe they only did it for SMT like nostalgia pandering mixed in with a little Persona homage (as it seems more like SMT than Persona anyway).

          • Hikari Langley

Developers are free to what ever they please. Maybe they did it as a SMT homage, but I barely found any Persona feel in Mind Zero.

There are other school based RPG’s Persona isn’t the only one that did that.

            • Budgiecat

oh please when you tie in all the familiar elements together yes it leads to more than obvious SMT and Persona emulating.
I’m not saying there’s anything necessarily wrong with it; just pointing it out because people will obviously see it coming if they’re familiar with both series and thats probably this developers intention.

              • Hikari Langley

I assumed you also got the game? If so really, after about 3 hours in it’s much different.

                • Budgiecat

The characters have demon like personas. How can you say it has no similarity to Persona. What happens 3 hours later they completely lose them upon beating the final boss and the game turns into a normal friendly slice of life dating sim?

    • TheFoolArcana

I can’t say I care what its a clone of when it looks like a piece of shit regardless.

“Would you prefer a CoD clone? Another ecchi moe game? Another MH clone? More ports? Or how about no games at all?”

A good game would be nice. I don’t really care what genre it is or what’s its a clone of.

    • RedSuisei

No one here actually played Digital Devil Saga? Because from what I’ve seen, this is a lot closer to that IMO. The whole ‘use skill when you have your MIND out but no items, or use items but no skill without your MIND’ reminds of Digital Devil Saga’s ‘use skill when you’re in monster form but no items, or use items but no skill in human form’.

      • Budgiecat

What difference does it make, Persona, SMT, Devil Summoner; they’re all spin offs of SMT…

        • RedSuisei

Because they all have differences in their gameplay?

          • MrFinalgamer

the more recent SMT games have a battle system closer to Persona TBH, minus the whole recruiting thing of course (which i wouldn’t mind making a comeback =D)

            • RedSuisei

I was referring to an older SMT though, and even if they have some similarities, there are still enough of a difference between DDS and newer Persona (3-4) to say that this game is closer to DDS IMO.

              • Budgiecat

SMT style city map – check
SMT 1st person gird dungeon crawling – check
Persona like modern high school setting – check
Persona like demon’s that stand behind you sort of like….Stands – check

Sounds like a mix of SMT & Persona.

Point is, DDS, Persona, Devil Survivor all derived from SMT as they draw heavily from it as its the source and this game draws heavily from SMT and all is spin offs.

                • RedSuisei

I never disagree that this is close to SMT; all I said is this is closer to DDS (which is also another SMT game, so that shold implicitly imply similarities to SMT). It was meant for people who kept saying this is a Persona rip-off, while from all SMT I’ve played, this is much closer to DDS than any Persona games. Those MINDS standing behind your characters might look similar to Persona’s, but the mechanics of using them is much closer to DDS’ mechanics.

  • artemisthemp

Looking forward to play Mind Zero

  • Folk Hellfang

Sexy! I have been hoping this game didn’t get lost in the shuffle. Based on their work on Muramasa, I am excited about this localization. Can’t wait!

  • Budgiecat

    Cool I guess

Now if only Bandai Namco would start localizing more of its Vita titles.
They’ve only localized 3 games out of 14 released Vita titles:
    Ridge Racer
    Touch my Katamari
    Dragonball Z: Battle of Z

    WRC3 (PS Store published)
MUD – FIM Motocross World Championship (U.S. published. Milestone)
    Shinobido 2 (U.S. published. Acquire)

That’s pretty pathetic Namco, considering you’re one of the top Eastern publishers. Not to mention no Tekken/Ace Combat/Soul Calibur Vita titles…

They have these to choose from

    God Eater 2
    Gundam Breaker
    Shin Gundam Musou (TK developed)
    MS Gundam Seed: Battle Destiny
One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 (TK developed)
    Tales of Innocence R
    Tales of Hearts R
    Girls und Panzer
Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Masou Kishin III – Pride of Justice
    Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth
    Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment
    Madoka Magicka The Battle Pentagram
    AKB1/149: Love Election
    Super Heroine Chronicler
    3rd Super Robot Wars Z
    J-Stars Victory VS

    • Elvick

It still baffles my mind why they didn’t at least toss One Piece our way. They did the PS3 version.

Just ridiculous. Especially since RR and Katamari were budget games. The former being a total rip-off.

If only they’d let others bring over their games.

      • Budgiecat

Yeah WRC 3 & MUD (both Milestone) I edited thanks. Also forgot Shinobo 2 (Acquire developed/Namc published)

Yeah and especially since RR, TmK & Battle of Z aren’t really that well received…

Also, Capcom is even worse. They need to actually also make more games:

          • Hikari Langley

Whoooa you’re like off and old. For like a lot. Capcom made more games you know… IIRC they did make EX Troopers. Also Phantasy Star Online 2 didn’t block IP’s I still play it to this day.

            • Budgiecat

Just because they didnt catch you yet doesn’t mean they dont block IP’s. All it takes is for some Japanese asshole player to flag you if they find out.

And no E.X. Troopers is not on the Playstation Vita and that is the entire Capcom released Vita list so wtf are you talking about…

              • Hikari Langley

Nah, I’m not breaking any rules and I’m pretty active and openly chat with any players I come across. So I’m pretty secure, no one has been blocked. It was a nasty rumor that has long been killed off.

Also you didn’t mention only VITA games, my mistake.

                • Budgiecat

Yes I did mention Vita. I said i right in my first sentence and the sentence after it. And even if I didn’t, this thread is focusing on Vita titles since the news is about a Vita released game being localized..

                  And:

                  http://segahates.us/

                  http://forums.sega.com/showthread.php?485469-Sega-Hates-Us

                  • Hikari Langley

Like I said ” It was a nasty rumor that has long been killed off.” At the time there was a lot of server related problems that were occurring such as some players hacking. We have already discussed to death that there was a chance this player might have partied with the hacker, or even hacked themselves.

Since it was never stated exactly why by that player, why he/she was banned, sad but that’s life.

Given with still have occasional hacking issues, but most players now report the hacker within minutes.

                    • Budgiecat

Sega should have looked into it further instead of just blindly banning. And them being hush about it as well as hush about localization doesn’t help matters

                    • Hikari Langley

It was SEGA of Japan, they aren’t exactly fluent with English. It just saves the trouble to do that, sad but welp. Nothing is stopping that user from making another account. Also that issue like happened to what 3 users at the most.

                    • Budgiecat

Thats no excuse they are a multi million dollar company they need to stop acting like cavemen. There’s dozens of other reasons Sega sucks right now and this is just one of them…

                    • Hikari Langley

Perhaps, but it was sketchy the whole banning issue. But Sakai the producer has stated they won’t take action on it, and ever since no player has been banned for “being english” It was a odd occurence.

Can’t hold SEGA down for one small incident like that, it’s just silly.

                    • Budgiecat

I hold SEGA down for many reasons not just that..

                    • Hikari Langley

I’m talking just about the issue of Phantasy Star Online 2, I couldn’t care for the rest.

                    • Budgiecat

Well thats clearly a flaw on your part

                    • Hikari Langley

Nah…. I’m better off not caring.

                    • Budgiecat

Whatever helps you sleep at night….

          • phayroent

I’ve always wondered why they never localized the Winning Post games. Horse Racing is a big business in the US, and a game focusing on breeding, buying, training and racing could sell if released at the right time.

            • Budgiecat

Actually they did…once. For Sega Saturn in the U.S. Winning Post (aka Winning Post 2 in JP) in 1996.

              http://image.gamespotcdn.net/gamespot/images/box/4/6/0/574460_13937_front.jpg

For whatever reason, after that, they stopped localizing the Winning Post series.
They didn’t even bother localizing the PS1 version that year even though the PS1 was the more popular console at the time…

Other than that, Koei’s other horse racing series
which was called G1 Jockey series for PS2 , had their first four games came to EU (1st one was localized in EU by THQ) and the third one was localized in the U.S.

Also before the merge, Tecmo themselves had a horse racing game series called Gallop Racer for the PS1 through PS2 which several were localized as well:

Gallop Racer PS1 (Gallop Racer 3)
Gallop Racer 2001 (Gallop Racer 5)
Gallop Racer 2003: A New Breed (Gallop Racer 6)
Gallop Racer 2004 (Gallop Racer Lucky 7)
Gallop Racer 2006 (Gallop Racer 8)

Then, after the merge of Koei and Tecmo, they combined both of their series and localized them for the PS3, 360 Wii as:

Champion Jockey: G1 Jockey & Gallop Racer

Horse racing is indeed big business in the U.S. but like gambling, (and unlike the Japanese with their Pachinko and Pachislot home console nad handheld games), they focus their interests on the real thing and much less home title or handheld games, where you can actually win real money (unlike Japan where you have to go through some funky loophole to do it since gambling is illegal there).

    • SuperLuigi

I would buy 10 of those titles if they were in English. :-

  • Gariya

    Ehh, a first person JRPG?

    Hmm, I don’t know.

    • AdachiTohru

      Persona Like

  • Jesse

I was hoping someone would pick this up.

  • Nerroth

It’s been confirmed by Aksys here:

    http://www.aksysgames.com/2014/01/30/mind-zero-entering-us-minds-this-spring/

It’ll be a digital and physical release in North America, but digital only in Europe.

EDIT: Never mind, I see the new article popped up just after I posted this…

  • Renaldi Saputra

and that’s what I’m afraid that this game might won’t do well in the west.. for ppl’s first looking, they’ll just say “this sucks, it’s a Persona/SMT rip-off, I won’t buy..”

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Please. If that were true, nobody would buy any FPS unless it was Call of Duty since other games “rip off” of that.

  • Renaldi Saputra

I mean something like Pokemon Digimon thing..
I have no idea about that.. since FPS is a genre..

  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Well, that’s a good example right there. Pokemon and Digimon are somewhat similar, yet people still buy both. I’m not going to lie and say Mind=0 stands on its own since it does look heavily influenced by Persona, but it’s still a decent title for the Vita and that’s what is important, I think. Vita needs all the love it can get right now.

  • Renaldi Saputra

    >ppl still buy both

it’s true, but almost no love for digimon bcos some many of them accused it as a rip-off so they didn’t buy bcos they got pissed off of digimon’s existence.. they both have almost no similarities after all except that they’re both human with evolving monsters and both name (not monsters’ name) end with -mon..

yeah Vita needs more love exactly, waiting for Cyber Sleuth
