Ace Attorney 123: Wright Selection due out April 17.

Ace Attorney

The first three games in the Ace Attorney series are coming to 3DS as Ace Attorney 123: Wright Selection, the latest issue of Weekly Famitsu reveals.

The first three games starring Phoenix Wright as main character, originally released on GameBoy Advance and later remade for Nintendo DS, will be upgraded to support stereoscopic 3D and will launch on April 17 for 3,990 yen in Japan.

The new release will include the English script, as did the DS Japanese re-release. A limited edition including a drama CD is also planned. Special favors include a serial code to download an original wallpaper and arrange BGM.

Thanks, Sinobi.

Excellent. Didn’t snag the series on DS and was planning on picking each up, so I could get around to the latest. Looks like I can go for this instead of the DS versions now, supposing Capcom brings it.

  • MrSirFeatherFang

    I guess no Apollo Justice?
Reminds me when Sven (Capcom USA) was trying to request getting an AA collection out… I forget if he wanted it for the 3DS or not.

    • Solomon_Kano

He definitely wanted it for 3DS, since the iOS version had already been announced at that point. Well, he got his wish. Too late, but he got it. :(

      • MrSirFeatherFang

        Man… I used to talk to that guy ;_;
If he’s the one who got the Okami OST on the Capcom Store, he at least fulfilled (partially) one of my requests lol

        • Solomon_Kano

          He’ll be missed. ;_;

Until he pops up elsewhere, anyway.

      • Six

        God rest his soul.

    • mirumu

I wonder if they have other plans for Apollo Justice? Seems an odd omission otherwise.

      • Solomon_Kano

I was thinking that too, but then they never put Apollo Justice on iOS either.

        • mirumu

True, but you’d think with AA5 building on Apollo Justice they’d really want it out there. It’d be annoying if it’s in limbo because of a rights issue or something.

  • Six

Definitely want this. I never put any significant amount of time into the DS games, so this is perfect.

  • new_tradition

Whoa, definitely unexpected to me O_O

Hopefully this makes it over seas so that Capcom can release a hypothetical 2nd trilogy release including GS4, GK1 and GK2; which they can then subsequently release over seas so that at long last, the second Investigations game comes out in English, hahahaha!!!

    *trails off into gross sobbing*

Would buy a retail copy. Been curious about it.

  • 罪罰

    That’s awesome!

  • Kurisu Makise

My question about this is will it feature the upgraded sprites from the iOS one or is it just the DS games compiled into one cart with 3D added? I can’t imagine the DS sprites looking that great with 3D on admittedly.

    • Leon_Tekashi

As long as they don’t go lazy on this, chances are pretty high.

      • Kurisu Makise

It’s Capcom though…subtle 3D effect might just be enough to slightly scale up the GBA sprites from the previous efforts and call it a day.

    • mirumu

That’s a good question. The 3DS screen resolution is a lot lower than an iPad or iPhone though so quite a bit of detail would be lost.

      • Kurisu Makise

Mayhaps detail would be lost but the clean look would remain, no doubt, especially in 3D.

  • Blaz

Im gonna import this, oh wait…

  • British_Otaku

That’s the game I’ll get that month then. I’m only missing one of the Japanese DS Dual Script releases, but I wouldn’t mind having all three in one plus a limited edition too…

I wonder what they plan to do with Gyakuten Saiban 4/Apollo Justice or Gyakuten Kenji 1 + 2/Ace Attorney Investigations though.

  • PrinceHeir

so is this based on the IOS version?

man and i just finished the 2nd game on emulator. i’ll probably still go and finish the other games since it will be a while till they localize this.

i also didn’t know that the JPN DS games had the english script with them.

also can we have the original character names please? Naruhodou sounds much better than Wright.

    • British_Otaku

No one knows what the visuals will look like yet.
Ace Attorney 1-3 were already localised, hence they already have English script for the Japanese DS rereleases (the first three were first on the GBA) so maybe this will come quickly. We didn’t wait long for Ace Attorney 5 (even if it cost having other European languages represented or a retail release).

I don’t think they are going to abandon Wright and Company, I feel for you as I’m mad that VIZ and FUNimation messed up Detective Conan plus the work on Inazuma Eleven but for whatever reason Capcom do a pretty good job even if it changes all of the names around. >_> I need to get myself checked out a doctor, I think I’m coming down with something called “hypocrite”.

Cool, this would be perfect for me to get into the series. I already completed dual destinies. I’m probably going to wait for an US announcement. Hopefully we get investigations 2 soon.

  • McPoo

I’d buy this, I only played the first two and the Miles Edgeworth game, so would like to go back and replay/finish them.

  • Samsara09

hope the 3ds gets more DS behemoths, for the people who didn’t get them when they released, and for people who wanna it for 3ds just for kicks.
Well, need to think positive, since I wouldn’t be surprised if this cheap remake practice gets abused more down the road.Ah,backwards compatibility,if you weren’t so limited.

    • TechHog

How is 3DS backwards compatibility limited?

  • fireemblembeast

Cool! I just started Apollo justice. My favorite game so far would be AA3…

  • Amanda Sassparilla

If they remake all the games translated… would that include Investigations 2…?
