Additional exclusives to be revealed "shortly."

VGX will play host to world premieres from Titanfall, Quantum Break, Broken Age, Dying Light, The Division, The Witcher 3, and an upcoming Wii U title from Nintendo, Spike TV announced in a press release.

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime will be on hand to present a first look at the upcoming Wii U game. It’s worth noting the press release doesn’t specify whether this is a previously announced or unannounced game.

Also on hand are South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, who will present the latest look at South Park: The Stick of Truth.

The press release dubs this the “first wave” of exclusive world premieres. Additional exclusives will be revealed “shortly.”

The award show will be live steeaed across Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Twitch, Hulu, Yahoo, Steam, VGXLive.com, Spike.com, ComedyCentral.com, MTV.com, MTV2.com, BET.com, and GameTrailers.com this Saturday, December 7 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific / 6:00 p.m. Eastern time.

As far as the Wii U is concerned… X or bust!

    • Budgiecat

lol seriously its like the only game I’m interested so far for that console besides Bayonetta 2…

      • bloodiOS

        Pretty much…

      • EX+

I’m just waiting for an X release date or the NEW Zelda.
Aside from that, there’s not much for me to consider buying a Wii U in an exact time frame, aside from Smash, but I’ll be able to wait.

        • Budgiecat

Smash looks just like Brawl to me though. And now without a story mode?

Smash should literally look like actual live action toys come to life. Or the closest to a Pixar presentation possible.

          • Heisst

Don’t tell me you think the story mode was good in any way, it was like, the biggest, laziest bore of a story mode a game’s ever had, only thing going for it being the cutscenes. Melee’s Adventure Mode was much better and hope they bring it back for this one.

            • Budgiecat

Just because it was doesn’t mean they can’t possibly try this time and do better instead of just giving up and removing it altogether.

              • Heisst

It’s better to remove it and instead make an adventure mode from Melee which was a much better portrayal of the Nintendo series’ universe and best of all it wasn’t tedious, copypasted and boring as shit. They put way too much time and budget on that thing that they could have used to actually improve Brawl’s crappy, slow gameplay.

    • EX+

For me, either that, or next gen Zelda.

      • bloodiOS

I think you may have to wait till E3 2014 for info on that next-gen Zelda.

      • SuperLuigi

        Nobody excited for smash?

        • EX+

          I am-sort of.
It looks good in both the graphical department. Not to mention I’m liking how fast the game looks. But it seems like more of the same to me.
          Recycled movesets especially.
That’s for me right now. It might seem more intriguing in the future.

          • SuperLuigi

Well sakura did say the movesets that are in are subject to change. I think they just ported some characters over and will change them a little I just want a revamped online mode. I want to play with randoms without having to have 4 player 2 minute matches -_-

  • Dark_N11

I’m so hyped for the witcher 3.

    • Budgiecat

      Why not South Park

      And where’s Dragon Age III

      • Dark_N11

I’m also looking forward for these games but W3 is easily my most anticipated game of 2014 :P

        • $83030187

As hyped as I am for The Witcher 3, I’m also ready for it to get out of the way.

          • EX+

Cyberpunk 2077 is interesting. We won’t be hearing anything about that game for a while though.

            • Budgiecat

Reborn RPG looks interesting. Would like to see more of that too

          • Dark_N11

New trailer for cyberpunk 2077 will make VGX even better .. also CD project is working on 2 smaller titles.

            • $83030187

I wonder if by “smaller titles” they mean like downloadable stuff, or just games that aren’t big, open-world RPGs.

              • Dark_N11

Well we know these 2 games are roughly 20hours games so maybe they are not downloadable titles..

funny how what they call smaller games are still double/triple the amount of hours you get in some AAA games.

                • $83030187

Exactly. I’m curious as to what they could be.

I’d love to see them try their hand and genres besides RPGs. I’ll probably get some shit for this, but I’d love to see what they could do with an FPS title.

                  • Alkhan

I wouldn’t give you shit for that. My biggest turn off for FPS are that so many of them are military based and are very dull in visual, music, and story IMO.

I always wanted to see an RPG developers’ take on a FPS. Particularly a JRPG developers take on it. I would love to play a FPS with an art style like Valkyria Chronicles.

                    • $83030187

Well, on a forum like this you can’t be too careful. Then again, I’m talking about a western dev, so most probably don’t give a shit anyway.

I’m sure if CDPR did experiment with the FPS genre, the result would be more Half-Life than Call of Duty.

                    • Budgiecat

I hate FPS. They are not needed in this world

          • Budgiecat

I hope the character models look as hot as that but usually WPRG’s dont do justice to their CGI counterparts…

            • bloodiOS

I don’t know, man… The gals of TW2 look pretty hot in the game.

              • Budgiecat

K I’ll give you that but thats only on exception…..and probably Miranda’s ass from ME2

                • bloodiOS

What I’m trying to say is that since CD Projekt RED did such a nice job on providing alluring women for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, I think it should be safe to assume that the gals of Cyberpunk 2077 would be just as nice (or so I hope), since the game is being developed by the same developers.

          • Alkhan

We really do need more Sci Fi RPGs.

I’m really excited to see how CD Projekt handles a SciFi RPG

            • $83030187

I’m hoping that since EA got the rights to make Star Wars games, Bioware makes a new RPG.

There’s also the next Mass Effect to look forward too. Things are looking good for those who aren’t all about swords, elves and dwarves.

Though I do want The Witcher 3, Dragon Age Inquisition and the inevitable Elder Scrolls VI.

            • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

Need more? They been taking over (at least in the JRPG circle). I want to see medieval JRPG games. I am in love with Demon Souls/Dark Souls but I don’t count that is since its not turn based.

              • $83030187

More JRPGs with a more traditional fantasy settings would be fucking swag, like the Tactics Ogre games.

                http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_XL7DNILu0Po/TTL49nKfm3I/AAAAAAAAD18/Z41uqaoGVj4/s1600/TO_wp3_1280.jpg

              • Alkhan

There are already literally multiple times more medieval RPGs than SciFi. That said, I would really like some more modern/fantasy style RPGs like Persona, .Hack, Digimon, and Pokemon( not sure if that counts)

Like with normal cars, humans, and other normal stuff but with some fantasy element to it(Personas, Tv worlds, Tartarus, and bizarre creatures that live along side people like its no big deal.

                • http://Xcite79.1up.com/ Keegs79

More? No there is not. Name me a couple! Sci-Fi has crowded the market. Final Fantasy isn’t medieval anymore. Persona never was medieval. Neither was Pokemon. Dragon Quest isn’t even a MMORPG now and the latest isn’t here. Tales is the closet thing there is and a lot of them are sci-fi based. What games???

          • Skerj

Yeah, Witcher 3 is cool and all but it’s just a roadbump to what I really want.

        • Budgiecat

But you only get to control one character in W3

          • Budgiecat

I hope that wasnt you who downvoted me….

  • $83030187

    GIMME DAT FALLOUT 4

  • EX+

    Please, next-gen Zelda, or X.
The new game reveals and exclusive trailers are the only reasons I’ll watch the VGX to begin with. But to get me through it, I’m gonna need some Dewritos.

    • $83030187

From what I’ve heard, the VGX isn’t going to be some fratboy shit with celebrities who could care less about games.

It’s more like an E3 or a Gamescom than an award show now.

      • EX+

Oh, no, that’s not what I mean.
I know the VGX isn’t gonna be like that. It’s just the awards.
I couldn’t give less of a shit about which game wins GOTY. I just wanna see the games, ya know.

        • Alkhan

Especially when you consider that there are like 300+ other different GOTY awards being handed out each year by all sorts of different websites and magazines. I have no Idea why people act like Spike’s award has more value than any of the others.

I only ever watched the VGAs for trailers and reveals because the rest of the show was just pathetic attempts at humor by celebrities who knew nothing about gaming, garbage music performances, and a guy dressed up like a military officer tea bagging people for having long speeches (they only did it once but it was incredibly stupid)

          • EX+

Exactly. Geoff Keighley also overhypes the hell out of everything.

      • Heisst

Yet we got Dark Souls 2 last time.

        • $83030187

          The Phantom Pain too.

  • $83030187

Some people think that the game Nintendo is going to show will be Donkey Kong.

Holy fuck, if those idiots show up to an event that is going to have The Witcher 3, Titanfall, Quantum Break and The Division with fucking Donkey Kong…

    • Budgiecat

      then they’ll have donkey dick!

      *bad doosh*

      • $83030187

I can see it now. Microsoft shows off some great footage for Quantum Break and Titanfall, Sony drops a bomb or two, Fallout 4 makes an appearance, The Witcher 3 looks phenomenal, and Nintendo is all like

WHOO YOU CAN PLAY AS CRANKY KONG!

    • EX+

Agreed. But I HOPE Nintendo isn’t that stupid.
I don’t think Donky Kong is kiddy or crappy, but people don’t want to see a 2D platformer as Nintendo’s only representation. They wanna see something that excites them. Myself included.

      • $83030187

Donkey Kong is a great series, but they are going to be competing for attention with some BIG games. DK won’t cut it.

A new Legend of Zelda for Wii U, X, Bayonetta 2 or even Smash Bros. is what they need to bring.

        • http://gamewise.co/ Nick Pantazis

It’s also the Spike TV audience, who are not exactly mature enough for Donkey Kong. If it’s not bloody and rated M, they don’t care.

          • $83030187

Step off with that smug shit.

            • http://gamewise.co/ Nick Pantazis

I think you’re mistaking my point. I’m not saying that M rated games can’t be mature, but that Spike is primarily watched by Teenagers and Teenagers ONLY see M rated games as mature. I don’t think there’s much debate to either of those points. If it’s not bloody, Spike doesn’t care. Sure, some people who don’t normally watch Spike will watch the VGAs, but it’s largely kids who think of non-gorey games as kiddy, not adults.

              • $83030187

Last year at the VGA’s we got Dark Souls II and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, while The Walking Dead won Game of the Year.

I’m not sure how any of that qualifies as bro.

I’m sick and tired of fucking Nintendo fans who have put themselves on some kind of pedestal when it comes to video games. “Oooh, we don’t play that violent stuff, it’s so beneath us!”. Like they are better or some shit, and that the rest of us are uncultured manchildren who love nothing but shootbangs and football.

Fuck that noise. (Not aimed at you in particular, just something I needed to vent about)

                • http://gamewise.co/ Nick Pantazis

Just FYI (I know you said it’s not aimed at me but I feel I should clear it up) I’m definitely not “just” a Nintendo fan. I’m a PS4, 3DS, Vita, gaming PC and Wii U owner, currently playing A Link Between Worlds, ACIV: Black Flag, and CoD: Ghosts (as well as replaying Flower for Platinum).

Again, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with violent games. I just feel the tone of the VGAs remains decidedly bro. They’ve gotten better for sure, but think about all the games you just announced. Yes, they appeal to adults too, but nothing in there is every E rated and rarely is anything T rated.

But hey, they claim VGX is a new start. I’d love to see them prove it. I’d love this to feel more professional. And if nothing else, at least it isn’t as bad as the grammies!

                  • $83030187

Sorry about blowing up. I’ve been holding onto that for a while, and I needed to get that out.

I’m not going to deny that the VGAs haven’t been INCREDIBLY bro. Remember that tea-bagging bit? I wish I didn’t.

From what I’ve heard, the goal is to turn this thing into more of an E3 than an awards show, which is what everyone wants anyway.

No one cares about the celebrities. Everyone wants new games.

Also, A Link Between Worlds has been kicking my butt. I have spent at least 1/3 of my time completely lost. I’d complain, but I’m just glad they took the training wheels back off the franchise.

                    • http://gamewise.co/ Nick Pantazis

ALBW is considerably harder than most recent Zeldas yeah. I just replayed Wind Waker via WWHD, and it’s a big jump into something much more difficult (though Hero Mode helps Wind Waker some). Hopefully the next 3D Zelda keeps that in mind as well. I feel like ALBW is the perfect balance of familiarity, new mechanics, and difficulty.

                    • $83030187

I agree. I also love the lack of tutorials. The chore of getting through them in Skyward Sword has made that game less enjoyable than it should be.

                • Heisst

I don’t see any Nintendo fan saying that, only that they don’t limit themselves to mature games like childish people do. In fact, Nintendo fans have Bayonetta 2 upcoming.

                  • $83030187

Oh, I have come across quite a few who do. They convince themselves that other gaming platforms aren’t worth owning by telling themselves that they have nothing but dudebro shooters and sports.

When in actuality they are just bitter that most developers don’t care about their console of choice.

Of course, I’m not speaking about all Nintendo fans.

                    • Heisst

But how can ANYONE say ”I don’t play mature games at all”? That’s not what people say, they just mock those who say ”I only play mature games”, they never say ”I only play non-mature games”, like, that’s stupid since even Nintendo has M rated games like Eternal Darkness.

                    • $83030187

I assume it would be okay if the games were on Nintendo platforms. Like, GTAV is shit, but it would be fantastic if it was on Wii U. I guess you could actually accuse fanboys from all sides of that attitude…

I don’t know, this is all just shit I’ve come across on random forums. Trying to find logic in console warrior bullshit is something I have long since given up on.

With the Wii U being a huge flop, and with the PS4 and Xbone doing very well, fanboys are bound to panic and get all hyperbolic about stupid shit.

Playstation fans did it at the beginning of last gen with $599, two jobs and no gaemz, Xbox fans did it back in May when the DRM shitstorm hit, and now it’s Nintendo fans’ turn to get all crazy because their doomsday prediction for the industry didn’t come true.

    • Steven Hays

Even though Donkey Kong will be amazing and most likely better than half the games you listed, this would be a very stupid move on Nintendo’s part given the demographics of the audience.

    • Heisst

How can it be DK if it’s a first look?

      • $83030187

Who knows. I’m just going off of what the majority of people are saying based on other sites I visit.

I’m going to expect nothing, and maybe I’ll be surprised. It would probably be best to have that mentality for the entire event.

  • McPoo

Calling it now, Nintendo’s bit is all about Wind Waker HD.

    • AdamBoy64

Upcoming? Has that not been launched in the US as of yet?

      • McPoo

I’m in the UK, I was just taking the piss tbh. Up until it’s release, everytime they said they were going to be showing off software, everyone would get hyped up only to see it was more Wind Waker footage :p

  • EX+

Not surprising that there won’t be any/many Japanese games.
It’s not another dude-bro event, but Spike has always been about the Western stuff.

    • $83030187

I think it’s because there really aren’t many Japanese games for consoles anymore.

In a perfect world, next to all these big western games we’d have Devil May Cry 5, The Devil’s Third, Silent Hill 5, Fatal Frame 5, Clock Tower 4, Ace Combat 7, Ninja Gaiden 4…shit, help me think of more.

A new Tenchu, Final Fantasy Tactics 2…

      Man, now I’m all sad.

      • EX+

I get what you mean. Before, Japanese devs were ruling the industry. I don’t think they’ll be able to do that again.
I do believe that games like FF15 could very well revitalize Japanese devs on consoles, but they can never regain control of the Western console market. Is that a bad thing to me? Not entirely.
At least we’ll be getting quality console JRPGs. Look at what we have for the PS3 next year. KH2.5, the new Tales and Persona 5.

        • $83030187

I wouldn’t be down on western publishers ruling the industry if they were decent companies.

Instead of Valve and CDPR running things, we have EA and Activision.

        • Budgiecat

Some Western developers truly raised the bar on presentation quality, (albeit not adding much to artistic asthetics and creativity though)

Compare a cutscene from FF XIII to one from The Last of Us or Beyond: Two Souls. It’s like night and day.

Sure FF XIII wins in the regard of creative looking outworldly world (but TloU & Beyond really werent going for that anyway), but the level of detail in the cutscene animation, voice acting, motion capturing are on a completely different level.
FF XIII suffers from manniken face, and some realy horrible script and direction and animation, and they’re (S-E) considered some of the top of Japanese game design.
Hopefully FF XV is handled more respectfully and maturely in that regard. No more cringe inducing scenes.
This is a pass for simplistic game design but when you try to go for photo realism; it just looks off.
Is it any wonder Kojima is taking his time with MGS V. He probably doesn’t want games like The Division and others eclipsing it since he speaks so much of trying to ‘win’ back the respect of Japanese gaming industry.

An actor is only as good as the focus of his director. Look at how lame Troy Baker sounds in FF XIII yet how well he pulls of Joel, Booker and the Joker…

          • Bobby Jennings

An actor is only as good as his paycheck lol

          • McPoo

I’d argue that TLOU has a creative looking world. You seem to be equating creativity to fantasy, which I don’t really agree with.

TLOU may have realistic looking graphics, but the world itself looks really inspired and is perfect at giving the impression of a modern day world after a huge devastating event. The mix of natural and urban aspects really gives it a weathered look that seems like time has taken its toll, and personally I think that’s a really cool way of depicting things.

And on a personal note, I don’t find anything about FF creative really. Maybe 15 years ago, but certainly not now.

          • EX+

It’s Nomura. All of his games have more polish than any of the other directors at SE, aside from Ito.
I’m not sure if I’m the only one who noticed, but the animations in KH1 are very good for their time. And yeah, hopefully they don’t have any crusty voice actors this time.
I think Yuri Lowenthal would be good for Noct. He has a lot of experience. Sasuke PTS, Sasuke Shippuden, Yosuke etc.

  • Crossbones (Prodigy-X)

    Uncharted PS4 Please!!!!

It shoulda been Shenmue III cocollaborated with Yu Suzuki and Mark Cerny with Naughty Dog helping them and Sony funding everything

      • Eder García

with Antonio Banderas and Dwayne Johnson as main characters

  • Elvick

    Bayonetta 2? X?

Those are the only things I could see being shown off there. Aside from something new, which I could only see being something Nintendo paid to be made by a 3rd party.

  • Heisst

It’s a ”first look” so wouldn’t that discard X and Bayonetta 2? I can only think of SMTxFE and Zelda U, if it’s indeed a previously announced title that is.

    • $83030187

While we have seen X trailers twice, we really don’t know anything about it other than it’s an RPG, it has mechs and it’s open world.

We know nothing about the story or characters.

    • Budgiecat

I dunno. I would think it’s a well know 1st party Nintendo IP before it’s one of those.

    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Zelda U would kick ass. And is likely.

      • $83030187

Man, I hope so. Nothing could top the announcement of the first HD Zelda title.

        • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Wind Waker is HD? I guess you disclude that though since it is a remake?

Wind Waker HD honestly slipped my mind for a second, but you know what I mean.

I hope there is a lot of world exclusive unveils. While its cool to learn more about these games, I am more impressed and surprised with new previously unannounced games.

  • SGTMAR

inside scoop. it will be Zelda. Robby B Nintendo trusted source says it is.

  • SGTMAR

Wait sorry, it’s gonna be Smash Bros. as the main featured game. With some Zelda news. Just got the scoop. http://i.imgur.com/geybWUg.jpg

The new look is referring to the Miis in Smash.

This sounds pretty believable to me.

      • Rezar

Also the daily image from the Smash Bros. site is a boss from Find Mii so it makes since.

      • Heisst

So does this mean that the ”first look” part of the statement was false?

        • McPoo

The quote I’ve read on various sites is “new look”, not first look. The way I read it, I thought it’d be a new look on a game that’s been touched on in the past, like X or something.

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

It’s a random 4chan post, so I would take these things with many grains of salt, but it doesn’t sound unbelievable.

Mii being confirmed would make 4/6 confirmed for what that source told us a few days prior to E3 (Mega Man, Animal Crossing Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Mii, Pac-Man, and Little Mac).

Cranky Kong was also already leaked via Amazon Italy.

So if this is accurate, Nintendo’s VGX appearance would just be, well, confirming leaks. Which would be pretty lackluster.

Give me a teaser trailer and name for the new Zelda. =(

      • Heisst

Also today’s SSB website picture is a boss from Find Mii.

New trailers for Dark Souls II and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 would be pretty badass.

Also, Telltale is supposed to be making a Game of Thrones game. I could see that being debuted there.

Also looking forward to The Witcher 3 showing plebs how you make a real RPG.

Direct Tv has a problem with me VGX. It’s showing “the Day after tomorrow” on 12/7 at 6pm. I’m pretty sure VGX starts at that time :

Update: It’s still not there. I hope they update soon, because all I’m getting is cops on my list.

Update: I went further ahead to the VGX highlight episode on the 9th at 9pm, and that is showing properly.

What about… “Murdered: Soul suspect” ?
