    Ah, Vita is below WiiU.

    • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

According to Media Create anyway, Famitsu has it slightly above it.

      • Heisst

I had the impression that Famitsu was much less trustable than Media Create, what with their status as the IGN of Japan.

  • bldudas

I guess my copy of Project Mirai 2 is one of those 88,708. >.<

Also, wow for the Wii U.

  • Alkhan

Is the PS3 version of Dynasty Warriors 8 with Xtreme Legends supposed to be listed twice?

    At #5 and #16

    • windrincar

I think the first one is the Xtreme Legends only version, while the second is the original and the Xtreme Legends version (like FF X and X-2 remaster in one disc)

    • surachokes

I believe they sold two versions of the game. One is the Xtreme Legends standalone another one is the one that include the original Dynasty Warriors 8.

  • Furious Francis

Wii U is on the rise in Japan, 3DS is the unstoppable force nobody saw coming.

  • Renaldi Saputra

    too bad for Criminal Girls

  • TheExile285

The highest selling game this week only did……88k?

    Man, LRFFXIII really dropped.

  • XypherCode

I reaaally wanna see combined sales for physical and digital copies of SM3DW

  • perrandy

glad to see the 3ds doing well.and wiiu sell this week wasnt to shabby either.for what its worth anyway.ps vita and ps vita tevee putting underwhelming numbers but that’s something that i dont think will change too much due to market saturation of tablets, smart and dumbphones.its going to be interesting how the ps4 will fare over there at launch,i wont even talk about the xbone because that’s going to be pretty lolworthy over there.glad to see that they announced a sequel for braverly default.even tho i dont know how good or bad the first one is?

non fake edit: i was really hoping for the vita tevee to fare better, but it seems that the japanese doesnt like the device too much.

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

    I thought SWR did better?

    • Renaldi Saputra

maybe too many SRW/Gundam games for now

Project Mirai 2 sold under 100K first week? I guess I learnt my lesson for real now with first hand experience…

In “Lightning Returns Defends First Place While Mario Sinks on Major Japanese Retailer’s Sales Charts” article on Dualshockers (http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/12/02/lightning-returns-defends-first-place-in-japan-on-major-retailers-sales-charts-while-mario-sinks/#comment-1147960638 ), I commented that Project Mirai 2 on the eShop had a surprisingly high number of ratings (1080 right now) while One Piece Unlimited World RED also on the 3DS had much less despite being out for a week longer (449 right now)… I figured that ratings were too small relative to sales speaking to be a strong indication of sales among other circumstances which could get in the way… >_>

I suppose it did very well even if I was sorta expected more. On the others, nice to see Mario and One Piece World RED hanging on while Kamen Rider did pretty poorly at launch but I suppose Namco budgeted for the weak sales.

  • DarthBrian

    Yay Miku!!! <3 <3 <3

Also, mai waifu continues her domination over that plumber miscreant. ^_^

    • Lelouch Vi Britannia

I love Mario but it seems as though Mario just doesn’t have the appeal he used to have years ago. Nintendo’s whole strategy on continual “Nostalgia” is starting to seriously show its colors.

      lol

The disparity in numbers for hardware between Famitsu’s WiiU and Vita versus Media Create is a bit puzzling. Few thousand I can understand but 8k? Weird. Nice to see God Eater 2 still selling, I hope it hangs in through the holidays/early new years period.

    • Pyrofrost

I would be more incline to trust Media Create. As Famitsu is pretty much the equivalent of GameInformer in the west.

      • http://gamewise.co/ Nick Pantazis

Indeed, and they track far fewer retail sources. Media Create is the gold standard of Japanese retail tracking.

      • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

I don’t particularly swing one way or the other between Famitsu and Media Create myself, I’m just amused whenever the disparity is large. @NickPantazis:disqus if they track far fewer, then how’d they get 28k versus 20k Vita? I don’t believe such a claim can easily be substantiated but if you can do so, then I’d like to see it.

        • http://gamewise.co/ Nick Pantazis

Famitsu is a gaming magazine, and they determine sales numbers via polling and shop sampling. Media Create is an actual sales analyst and tracker. Neither are perfect, mind you, but this is what Media Create does, and they’re the official numbers that major publishers use to track their games (Capcom, Nintendo, Square Enix, Sony, Konami, etc.).

Famitsu may on occasion be closer to right (none of them track 100% of the market after all) but they are considered less reliable. No publisher will ever report Famitsu sales numbers.

          • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

The first half of what you stated I’m well aware of (i.e gaming magazine and shop sampling) the polling is a bit new to me but it doesn’t sound like a stretch. The latter half sounds quite confident without some sort of backup. At best, I’ve seen Media Create mentioned on occasion but that’s about it. Do you, by chance have a link to an press release that either Capcom, Nintendo, Square Enix, Sony or Konami have issued which quotes a Media Create number or make reference to it?

            • http://gamewise.co/ Nick Pantazis

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/event/conference2008fall/presen/e/index.html Sure, I went pretty lazy with this and just followed a Wikipedia link but this is Nintendo’s official 2008 Fall conference, in which they source MC numbers. Googling can pull up others, as they are mentioned fairly commonly in Conferences from the big companies.

              • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

Good source, thanks for that. Definitely gives them some favour.

    • seiya19

Famitsu is just combining the sales of Vita and Vita TV, just like they do with 3DS and 3DS XL. The difference between trackers is actually of only a bit over 2k.

  • MrKappa

Little surprising to see a SRW game selling so poor.

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Not really. The game itself looks like its garbage. This coupled with the fact that Japan is just sick of SRW stuff at the moment was a recipe for disaster.

  • Pyrofrost

    Talk about an overall poor software sales week -_-;

  • 1Truth

I hope Super Mario 3D World has legs.

    • Aiddon

it’s Mario, it’ll be fine. In Japan though the 3D entries are nowhere near as big as the 2D ones.

  • Aiddon

huh, interesting that the Wii U is on an upward trend over there.

  • Serovath

maybe this low sales for srw infinite battle will wake banpresto up, and give us a true srw game for ps3. final dynamic special needs to be in HD.
