Japan. Enough with the PSP games. Okay?

Let me take you to the side and introduce you to a little something I call the PS VITA. :D

    • Pyrofrost

Is it really that surprising to see a console that hasn’t been discontinued and with such a large install-base still getting games? Games were still coming out on the PS2 this year.

      • jujubee88

Your transposing my abstract plea onto a deduced reality and making me look at the situation (in an objective manner).

        ..Please, don’t do that.

How about those 2013 Nintendo DS games huh…

        • Pyrofrost

          What about them?

          • jujubee88

It’s probably a satire. Just like my OP was.

Wake up. Japan barely gives a **** about Vita, and that’s pretty fine with me. I was against it since it was announced, and I only bought it because I was offered to buy it at the right price(around 150$ or so). After all the time passed since Vita release, it still only has like 5 games I wanted(and bought), at 2-3 per year rate.
I prefer my JPN 3DS and PSP still.

      • Sevyne

It’s fine that you are against the fact that it even released. I’ll give you that (don’t know why, but whatever). However, saying it’s fine that Japan doesn’t care about it? Come on now. Whether you like the thing or not, nobody should ever be fine with other people suffering who payed good money for the thing.

        • $18114340

Oh come on. “Suffering”? Everybody makes a purchase they regret sometimes. Maybe someone out there regrets buying the Vita, in which case they don’t have to hold onto it in the hopes that it’ll get the games they want. Maybe others will be satisfied with the games that it *is* getting.

It’s not like the Vita has some severe game drought. There are plenty of JRPGs coming out for it, and while a lot of them are ports, it’s better than nothing.

It’s “fine” for a game console to be unpopular insofar as the assumption that consumers might simply not be interested. It’s not “fine” for Sony in this case of course, but that’s a different story.

          • Sevyne

Maybe “suffering” was a poor choice of words, but it doesn’t change the message. Yes, people make purchases they regret sometimes, but does that make it not shitty that someone thinks it’s A okay that those folks be left hanging? No it doesn’t. It’s just cold as hell.

Now I personally have plenty to play on my own Vita and I enjoy it as it is (surprisingly like triple my 3DS library), but I do not fail to acknowledge that many other folks do not and I can only hope that they see the games they’d like join the lineup. Ya know; Instead of that being “pretty fine with me”.

Also let me add that part of the reason he doesn’t like it is because it’s not getting enough games that interest him so he’s cool with it not getting games. Let me ask you this (and a serious answer please); Does that make a lick of sense to you at all? I can’t even place a word on how I feel about that without being insulting, so I’ll refrain from doing so.

Anyway, I’ll conclude on a merrier note and wish all of you a happy holiday and stuff.

            • jujubee88

Your very rational and a gentle man.

              And happy holiday!

I’m not understanding what you’re getting at here.

I think it’s perfectly okay for folks to be “left hanging”, since that’s not the result of some ill-spirited movement (or maybe it is, depending on who you ask) but rather simply the current circumstances of the market. Because ultimately, if a Vita owner is left hanging it says something more about the the industry than it does about the system itself. Although it does say things about the system as well, I don’t think people can easily deny that the Vita is at least a capable platform with potential. But so are mobile platforms, Android-based microconsoles, the Wii U, and any other numerous industry underdogs.

I don’t think that it’s schadenfreude to state the simple truth that the Japanese market apparently has little interest in the Vita and that this is for whatever reason. In fact, I’d argue that there’s some insight to be gained from that which could help the Vita if understood properly by a willing industry. But the fact is, the Vita is not doing well — I make no statements as to whether it should be doing well or not, nor am I saying that it’s right for the Vita to not have any games.

All I’m saying is that there’s a reason why all of this is happening and more often than not I feel as if the Vita begging (for lack of a more neutral and sympathetic term) seems to completely overlook the possibility that the reason why the Vita is doing so poorly in the market is precisely because the games that vocal fans seem to want are often the games that are already on other systems (and are probably making more money on those).

Lastly, I don’t know what you’re getting at in the latter part of your reply but I *did* concede that the Vita is getting games after all (and quite a few exclusives, I might add), so ultimately my position is that I don’t really see what the problem is — if you bought a Vita under the impression that you would be getting games that it’s currently not getting, I’m just saying that it’s only going to become increasingly more unlikely that you’ll see those games come to the platform as time goes on.

              • Sevyne

Your problem is that you are thinking about things on the business side and that’s why you aren’t understanding. I’m talking about the feelings of those who payed good money for an item they may or may not be satisfied with because of the support (or lack thereof). Being fine with those folks being left hanging is just cold and heartless because you are so absorbed with who is to blame for why it’s happening instead of how it effects the consumer. Whether you care or not about those people, nobody deserves to deal with that (although they can and they will).

You obviously weren’t reading very well either if you are assuming I’m not happy with my Vita, as I very clearly stated I am quite satisfied with it. I’m just not some selfish bastard that only thinks of myself is all.

You also didn’t actually once in all of the typing answer the question I asked at the end, but that’s quite alright I guess. We’re clearly not going to agree here. One of us seems more absorbed in the cause and not the effect.

          • jujubee88

You seem to be spilling out your own doubts in the device and trying to map that negativity onto happy VITA enthusiasts like me, though.

Why? I actually know what the library looks like and enjoy the device. It’s pretty easy just to leave it at that.

If you want to challenge Sony or whoever else that’s making or not making games on the device than do that. But don’t paint it like no one should give a crap when clearly you know that’s a lie.

            • $18114340

I’m not. But the Vita is not the first console to have to deal with a sparse library and it’s far from the last.

I’m not saying that it’s okay to put Vita owners down for being enthusiastic about their system of choice, I’m just saying that realistically speaking if there’s no market for the system then no amount of enthusiasm from vocal fans will change that short of a mass-consumer revolt.

So you’re reading far, far too much into what I actually posted and making assumptions of what I really meant. I don’t think that nobody *should* give a crap, just stating the reality that as it stands, nobody currently does, and there’s probably a reason for that.

      • jujubee88

Uhuh. Look.. you don’t own a VITA, firstly. Secondly, games you find “good” are subjective to your tastes.

And why should I care about your opinion anyways? VITA is the above mediocrity of other dedicated gaming devices in Japan and is second place crown jewel of the country.

        “Wake up” on that reality.

        • kurosan9712

          Bwa-ha-ha. Say that when it’ll top 3DS sales(total sales).

Until then – it’s just as I say, no matter what you want to think.

  • Bruno Cesar

    Uh… where is FFX?

    • Sevyne

      Probably next week’s scores.
