Xbox One's new dashboard demonstrated.

Microsoft has released a 12-minute user interface walkthrough of Xbox One.

The interface, demonstrated by Microsoft corporate VP of marketing and strategy Yusuf Mehdi and chief product officer Marc Whitte, is running on live code, and focuses on features like voice command, biometric sign-in, instant resuming and switching, watching live TV, game video recording, and Skype.

Watch it below. View some new images at the gallery.

Update: IGN has posted their own walkthrough, as well.

    Ads. Ads everywhere.

It’s also quite cluttered and shares an unfortunate relationship with Metro.

That said, it’s probably better than the 360’s current awful UI. Not as good as what we’re seeing on the PS4, though.

Oh well. I wonder if they’ll keep changing it the way they did this past gen.

“Not as good as what we’re seeing on the PS4, though.” Funny because most of posts I saw on Neogaf said otherwise.

I’m not especially interested in a random passerby’s unscientific sample. Even if you did have legitimate sampling, not many people have a good understanding of UI principles.

But I hope you enjoy whatever you buy. No hostilities intended! c:

You know how we know you didn’t watch the videos?

      • Zackasaur

Now, now. Let’s not be asinine. I’ve watched it twice, and I’ve watched some other runthroughs as well. I’ve always taken an academic interest in user interface design. I feel quite avidly that this is a poor one.

If you’re talking about the ads, this definitely has ads. It doesn’t have the worst kinds of ads we know will make their way there post-launch, of course, but it has ads for content that the user may not want to show up.

    It’s cluttered…too cluttered.

    • Zackasaur

      I definitely agree.

Clutter is at least a bit more tolerable if it has massive levels of customisation. Think of a PC OS, for example. This lacks that, though.

Looks great. The skype zooming was definitely interesting. The clip editing was pretty awesome too.

I love how he keeps calling it “magic.” xD

I really miss the blade dashboard..
