The Standard High Line becomes a PS4 building.

Sony is hosting a PlayStation 4 review event today and tomorrow at The Standard High Line hotel in New York City. And tonight, it lit up the building like a PlayStation 4.

Geoff Keighley, who is attending the event, just tweeted a photo of the building.

To compare:

PlayStation 4 launches this Friday in North America.

Sony are going all out!!! I’m loving it

    • Lelouch Vi Britannia

      agreed on that.,.

  • AdamBoy64

    Um, it’s the blue lights?
That’s cool advertising, if people know what it means.

I’ve now just realised the PS4 is coming out before the X1 in the US.
    That’s interesting.

Over here, we need to wait another fortnight for the PS4, whereas the X1 is out next week (the 22nd).

Yep, Sony knows their worst market was the US last generation, so they’re fighting extra hard to get it this time around. MS did the same for Europe, as they were behind there last gen.

      • AdamBoy64

Ah yep. That’s a good analysis.
MS giving away FIFA in Europe could be a big hit. It’s a really good drawcard to have.

Will be really interested to see how the sales figures stack up.

It’s the same tactic that MS tried with the 360 in Japan actually. They actually paid for a bunch of content they thought that JP would buy their console to get. It failed in that instance though. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with Europe this time, as it’s still pretty much neutral territory, Sony didn’t have that huge of a lead there.

          • AdamBoy64

Ah, that’s true. That’s a good comparison to last gen.

That tactic they tried with Japanese content meant I ended up picking up a 360.

I only ended up with 2 games on it, but to be honest, I really like them. A lot.

And as you say, with Europe, it’s neutral territory now. It’s ‘game on’ for sales in Europe. Kind of exciting, actually.

At least Japan got the SanRokuMaru mascot out of it though. Who does NA get as a mascot for Sony? Oh wait… We don’t have one.

Why can’t we be cool like Japan and get Toro? Instead, we get a spokesperson that I can never remember the name of, but is “supposedly” funny… Yet I can remember the name of a fictional cat.

            • Kazriko Redclaw

No single mascot for sure. Sackboy is probably the closest thing we have.

Someone should get a shot around 3-4 am so that it should hopefully be all dark. THEN it would look really epic, lol.

    Still pretty kewl ^^

  • TetsuyaHikari

Er… Outside of the blue lights, I don’t really see the resemblance, honestly =3=

    • AdamBoy64

Yes.. it’s hardly there at all.

      • Kazriko Redclaw

If you look at the left edge of the building, it isn’t at a 90 degree angle, looks closer to 60-70 degree. The only thing ruining the illusion is that ridge in the middle of the building, probably a stairwell.

    LOL!!! Sony Is Creative.

It seems that journalists are happy with PS4

  • Budgiecat

And in other news, Microsoft lights up a random NYC sewer to look like the XBox 1…

    • shogunknight

      But…but…sewers are generally green

      • Budgiecat

        Radioactive green poo!

    • Kevadu

So many better jokes you could have made…like saying that MS lit up a building to look like the XB1 but nobody noticed since it’s just a black rectangle.

      • Budgiecat

But sewer is synonymous with shit….
