How is Japan getting Lightning Returns so soon? I thought it was delayed till Winter for them as well?

    • Josephl64

      review copy maybe?

    • dmysta3000

LR was never delayed in Japan

    • ayb_91

Japanese will always have the first priority you know.

      • gulabjamal

Except for with the PS4 :)

        • DevilMayCry898

HAHA!!! It had to suck to get their own console last(not as if there was much to talk about but still).

    • Arcana Gear

Japan usually receive japanese games first than us by months…..

      • DarthBrian

For XIII, they got the game in December, we got it in March.

For XIII-2, they received the game in December, we got it in February.

Now they get Lightning Returns in November and we’re not getting it till February.

        They’re going backwards.

    …Lightning Returns score big

The game’s total score, however, is lower in comparison to the total score of each previous entry in the trilogy. 2 points lower than Final Fantasy XIII and 3 points lower than Final Fantasy XIII-2, to be exact.

      translated part of the review:

According to the reviewers, the battles in Lightning Returns are interesting and the feel for speed is great. They are “extremely entertaining,” but if the player fails to pay attention to an enemy’s weakness even trash mobs can prove difficult. As a result, it’s important to make split section decisions during battle. Even on Easy mode, Lightning Returns can be surprisingly difficult. The time constraints don’t appear to factor into that difficulty too much though, and didn’t stress the reviewers out much at all.

It’s not all about the battles, though. Clearing quests is obviously the goal here and the amount of freedom given to the player is so high it’s easy to get lost in it. Hints for each quest are actually fairly scarce and as a result, it might take casual users a bit to get used to. Players can become absorbed in trying to complete a large number of quests, as well as customizing and strengthening Lightning. The level of uniqueness you can achieve with her appearance and ability setups is said to be “entertaining and stunning”. The reviewer also states that the game is quite beautiful.

Seems Famitsu reviewers dont like increased difficulty and non linearity in their games as much

      Demon’s Souls 29/40
Resonance of Fate 32/40 or 34/40.
      Dark Souls 37/40
      Xenoblade 36/40

And in the end, it’s back to what we’ve already known, Famitsu can’t be taken seriously anymore.

I personally stopped taking them seriously in between the time they gave 13 a 39/40 and 13-2 a perfect 40/40 score.

Famitsu’s list of perfect scored games doesn’t hold the weight it once used to: before they were in my personal eyes, the cut-throats when it came to delivering scores. All that went away during the time when 13-2 came out and upon hearing it got a perfect score, it seemed to me like they did it as an apology of sorts like saying “Sorry we gave u a 39, here’s a 40 as an apology, our bad.”

      • MyBodyIsReady

        Demon’s Souls 29/40
        Steel Battalion Heavy Armour 33/40.

        Gotta love Famitsu!

I wanna know how the hell they could enjoy Dark Souls so much more than Demon’s Souls? It’s not like they’re completely different games. Seems like BS to me.

Man, a nice score for Super Mario 3D World.
    Really looking forward to it.

    • McPoo

I’m really curious to see how it effects the Wii U’s sales. Personally I’m not interested in it, I just don’t really enjoy Mario games anymore.

That said, it’s obviously something a lot of people will be looking forward to, I wonder how many consoles it’ll shift though. It’s meant to be Nintendo’s heavy hitter going into the holiday season, so if it doesn’t have as much of an impact as they’d hoped then something’s obviously very wrong.

      • AdamBoy64

Yes, it will be very interesting to see how it sells.
One thing that’s a bit concerning is, well, they’ve made a console bundle with NSMBU and NSLU.

But I would have thought a new bundle with SM3W would be an obvious choice, and would really help sell the thing. Why didn’t they..?

Anyway, that worries me a bit.
        Thanks for your response.

  • Elvick

Sometimes I wonder if they actually review multiple versions, or just copy/paste them. Seems that most of the time multiplats are exactly the same in score. Only thing I can recall that was different was God Eater 2.

    • Budgiecat

Their FIFA 14 reviews were varied

  • ayb_91

    Lightning Returns !? Yes !!

  • kurosan9712

Ho-ho. I feel I made the right choice about pre-ordering Shin Rorona no Atelier already. Not like I ever felt otherwise.
I’m getting both PSV and PS3 versions, btw.

  • divinelite

it’s happening. now the last saviour of WiiU hath arrived.

oh and yeah, last time for Lightning…

  • FitzpatrickPhillips

Yeah I’d agree on the Akiba’s Trip 2. Its pretty ehhh gameplay wise.
