Rumor: First details on the next Deus Ex game

Next-gen Deus Ex to star a Japanese Illuminati Shadow Agent?

First details on the next Deus Ex game, confirmed in development earlier this month, may have leaked via a casting call for an unnamed Montreal video game studio.

The casting is seeking talent to play Hiroshi Saito, a Japanese man in his 30s.

The full call reads:

Should appear Japanese, early 30s, 5’8″ to 6′. Should be athletic/built, in the 185lbs category. All submitted talent should fall within these specs. Any knowledge of stage combat & martial arts a plus. Hiroshi Saito is an Illuminati Shadow Agent. His current assignment is to infiltrate the Augmented Rights Coalition, to replace its leader and to discredit its movement by committing a series of attacks in their names. He is fierce, unsympathetic, cunning, and arrogant. Disciplined, unemotional, intelligent, gritty. He has a mild Japanese accent, able to range from professional with his superiors, militant when undercover, and smirky when talking to enemies. Previous motion capture experience is a bonus.

The casting call doesn’t mention Deus Ex directly, but it’s not exactly necessary. Eidos Montreal is the developer of Deus Ex, and are, as their name suggests, based in Montreal. Deus Ex is a game with heavy themes of augmentation and corruption, both of which appear in Hiroshi Saito’s description. Though, since this isn’t coming straight from the developer, it’s not something we can consider confirmed.

Thanks, Superannuation.
