Next-gen Deus Ex to star a Japanese Illuminati Shadow Agent?

First details on the next Deus Ex game, confirmed in development earlier this month, may have leaked via a casting call for an unnamed Montreal video game studio.

The casting is seeking talent to play Hiroshi Saito, a Japanese man in his 30s.

The full call reads:

Should appear Japanese, early 30s, 5’8″ to 6′. Should be athletic/built, in the 185lbs category. All submitted talent should fall within these specs. Any knowledge of stage combat & martial arts a plus. Hiroshi Saito is an Illuminati Shadow Agent. His current assignment is to infiltrate the Augmented Rights Coalition, to replace its leader and to discredit its movement by committing a series of attacks in their names. He is fierce, unsympathetic, cunning, and arrogant. Disciplined, unemotional, intelligent, gritty. He has a mild Japanese accent, able to range from professional with his superiors, militant when undercover, and smirky when talking to enemies. Previous motion capture experience is a bonus.

The casting call doesn’t mention Deus Ex directly, but it’s not exactly necessary. Eidos Montreal is the developer of Deus Ex, and are, as their name suggests, based in Montreal. Deus Ex is a game with heavy themes of augmentation and corruption, both of which appear in Hiroshi Saito’s description. Though, since this isn’t coming straight from the developer, it’s not something we can consider confirmed.

Okay this game sounds badass already.

      hey your back here ^^

  • bloodiOS

    Oh, heck yeah!

  • Skerj

Illuminati and Augmentation = Deus Ex. Hyyyyyyped.

I’m hoping the less-than-stellar response to Thief so far doesn’t mean anything for the new Deus Ex.

    I loved Human Revolution.

Also make a third person mode option

I on the other hand, hope it means EVERYTHING for it. If they are smart enough to take the overwhelming negative reception of that piece of trash and avoid the stupid moves it made entirely, as well as the many MANY faults people noted about Human Revolution, and avoid repeating them, we might actually wind up with a playable game this time.

Overwhelming negative reception? I don’t think you’re speaking for the majority with that one.

On “Thief” 4, the sequel to the game focused on darkness and not killing people, which has no darkness and lots of killing people?

          Pretty sure I am.

          • Alos88

Oh, thought you were talking about Human Revolution, nevermind.

      • Xaltmas

Where there really that many faults in HR? I thought most people enjoyed it, even those who were down on it at first.

The XP system rewards methods and not accomplishments, so it encourages very gamey behavior (deliberately avoiding passwords, which don’t give XP, and instead hack everything because it does is the most infamous).

Even if you disable the piss filter (only possible through a mod which forces the outdated DX9), the world is still washed out and hard to discern (just white and overly bright now), and the understanding of Victorian fashion, or even fashion in general, is laughable.

Swapping between third and first person for no reason is disorienting and gamey (using the stupid sticky cover system magically lets you see around walls).

It’s a bad game and one of the very few games I had to stop playing because it actually made me sick.

          • Xaltmas

Wow…okay. To each their own, I guess. I thought it was a great game, but whatever.

  • PrinceHeir

wow does that mean the setting will be in Japan!?!?!

    Neo Tokyo!!!!!

and why the mild Japanese Accent? should have gone full Japanese since the name itself is Japanese!!

Deus Ex HR already had a Japanese VA and it sounds awesome :)

they can even go Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex on this one!!!

man hearing Deus Ex again, makes me want to play the Director’s Cut badly!

can’t wait on this one!!! definitely is making me more exciting than MGSV :P

Bring back melee weapons from the original game and don’t give us stupid interactive cutscene one button punches and cyber blade bullshit anymore please.

  • tokyobassist

If this game expands on every aspect in all three Deus Ex games, this will be incredible. Can’t wait.

Probably a Villain/Rival character. I’d bet on Adam returning, or at the very least not a villain type like this sounds.
