  • SuperLuigi

Ouch for anything that isn’t a 3DS. MH is killing it! Might pass animal crossing sales.

  • McPoo

Wind Waker HD hasn’t done great, has it?

    • SuperLuigi

In Japan no. In the UK? It did well for its first week and no clue for America.

      • McPoo

Yeah did pretty well in the UK, got to 4 didn’t it? I can’t imagine it’ll hold that position though, I think it’ll fall back to the middle of the chart next week, then probably drop off the week after.

I’m just a bit surprised, is all. I would’ve thought it’d have done better in Japan.

For me, it’s the price that’s a barrier. I can’t justify £35 for an HD update of a Gamecube game. When it’s £20 I’ll snatch it up, maybe £25, but no more than that.

  • Alkhan

Have Vita sales ever dropped this low before?

Pokemon X/Y aren’t going to show any mercy either…

    • Duc PC-QB

Next week is the Pokemon week.

    • Bob

It was like this a lot pre-price drop. The new Vita model as well as lot of games will be out next week to combat Pokemon (4 new games and I think 6 repacked games under the, ‘The Best’ label to compliment it). But, I don’t think it’ll do all that much long term. It just has too look decent enough until Vita TV is out with God Eater 2. After that, Vita should be like 20k weekly, hopefully.

      • Lester Rat

What we don’t know is whether the new Vita model is a big deal in Japan or not. Vita used to be constantly over 10k before TGS week when the new model was announced. After that, it plummet on the charts despite some games that sold well being released.

It will be interesting to see not only next week’s Vita numbers, but whether it returns to the 10-15k numbers without game launches or if it returns to the 5k numbers even with game launches.

        • Bob

Yeah, we don’t know about how Vita 2K will do. But it’s possible to make a fair assessment about Vita TV since it was being preordered like crazy. All we know is that DaganRonpa + 2K will probably boost sales. But more than likely very little considering Pokemon is in the same week.

          • Lester Rat

The thing is, if Vita 2K is a thing in Japan, chances are that people were holding back the last month, so Vita sales should be high even with Pokémon coming. If it is not, Vita sales will surely be higher than this week, but not that remarkable.

About Vita TV, I think it will be more appealing to western audiences, but let’s see what happens.

            • Bob

Yeah the west has made it exceptionally clear that they want Vita TV. As for Japan’s interest, well, it’s been sold out on Amazon before and highly ranked at one point. So there is certainly some interest of some sort. Not to mention that this is the device of it’s kind (a set-top box) there. So it certainly has an edge in it’s own way.

  • EspadaKiller

Oh my, Nintendo is killing it from MH and Pokemon next week. No mercy from them, at least before the PS4 launches in Japan lol.

  • DesmaX

Well, talk about a lame week overall

Next week will be really interessing

    • Anime10121

Nah next week will be Pokemon X number 1 with over a million copies sold with Pokemon Y also no 1 with over a million copies sold, thusly obliterating every thing else on the chart! I can guarantee that you would be able to add up every other game on the Media Create top 50 chart and it still wont reach half of Pokemons total numbers.

Next week will be the Poke Create :P

      • Lester Rat

I don’t know why some people view Media Create numbers as a competition when it is just an assessment of the Japanese market.

Everybody knows that Pokémon will be the top game next week and for a few more. It is silly to compare it to games developed to sell 10,000 copies, because gaming business is no race to top Media Create charts.

However, unlike Monster Hunter 4 launch when everything went down, there are many things to watch next week besides Pokémon.

        • Anime10121

Never said it was a competition, just stating the facts. Next week Pokemon will blow EVERYTHING else outta the water, I’m not even that big a Pokemon fan (in fact I’ve disliked the series every game after Gold/Silver besides Black/White), but facts are facts. It wont be an interesting chart we already know pretty much what it’ll look like.

          1. Pokemon X
          2. Pokemon Y
          3. Monster Hunter
          4. Everything else.

          • Lester Rat

Your answer shows that you are saying it IS a competition because you are only concerned about what will top the list, not what games the list will show, numbers for those games (above or below the expected), etc.

And you will be wrong because I believe Media Create charts combine the numbers of paired Pokemon releases. Besides, if Monster Hunter doesn’t have a big increase next week, it will not be number 2.

            • Anime10121

Dude, calm down, it really aint that serious. I couldn’t care less about how much games sell, as evident by me owning PLENTY of niche jrpgs like Neptunia, Atelier, and Ar Tonelico. I was kinda halfheartedly joking in my reply with Desmax that we pretty much already know what’ll be tops next week.

Again, dude, chill, it aint even that serious :/

              • Lester Rat

If it was not serious, why your previous reply was so serious?

Numbers are specially interesting for people who care about niche JRPGs. It is good to know when niche games from our favorite companies do well and worrysome when they constantly bomb (like NIS).

If you like Neptunia, you should pay attention to Fairy Fencer F. It has potential to be the best selling Compile Heart game ever and more money to Compile, a brighter future for Neptunia games and similar.

                • Anime10121

Ignoring the first part of your reply, as I can see that conversation going nowhere nicely.

But as for the second part, I have been paying attention to FFF, which I hope someone will pick up eventually for localization, but with that being said, I’m not expecting it to become Compile Heart’s saving grace. It looks to be, for all intents and purposes a Neptunia game (gameplay wise) with new characters, and more focus on the plot than on the funnies.

I dont really care how it sells in Japan, because if Neptunia, The Witch and the Hundred Knights, and games like Mugen Souls are any indication, the games they want to bring to the west, will be brought to the west, regardless of how they do sales wise in Japan.

                  • Lester Rat

Japanese sales are not an indication that the games will be brought (FF Type-0 and DQVII, for example).

But they are a pretty good indicator of how well the companies are doing in Japan. The Witch and the Hundred Knights sold a lot, but wasn’t profitable. Ever other NIS game but Disgaea are bombing hard. It might mean NIS (and NISA) demise. It will certainly affect us.

On the other hand, Compile Heart seems to doing well with their recent releases. More money to them, more games coming. Now, with Idea Factory setting up a NA branch, it may mean that more and more Compile games will come stateside. That would be great, wouldn’t it?

  • TheExile285

Man, sales for everything non-MH & 3DS are awful. Next week won’t be better :/

    • MogCakes

People are gearing up for Pokemon.

  • shogunknight

Woooah, look at them units for WiiU and vita. Really low, must be the lowest for them in japan. The new vita model comes out this week, maybe thats why. X/Y is coming out this week also, looking forward to PSV-2000 and Pokemon sales

  • $18114340

They might as well not even include the 360 on these lists. I’m expecting Vita sales to pick up after the revised model comes out, and if not, after the PS4 comes out.

  • MrKappa

I’m still surprised at how well Warriors Orochi did. Musou games don’t tend to do so well if I recall yet this one is selling quite well.
