GungHo Online considering worldwide release?

GungHo Online Entertainment has trademarked Lily Bergamo in the United States.

The PlayStation 4 action game was announced and partially detailed at the Tokyo Game Show last month.

The trademark, filed September 30, could suggest the publisher is planning a global release for the Grasshopper Manufacutre-developed title.

Nice! I definitely am looking forward to this. Can’t wait to see some gameplay footage soon.

    • Tenshiken

They said this was running on Unreal Engine 4 so hopefully it looks great.

Not sure if this means much but Gungho are the pub behind Ragnarok Odyssey on VITA and that game looks fantastic.

And I’ve played cell shaded games that looked great on the Gamecube, so just imagine what the PS4 can do.

        • Budgiecat

Guilty Gear Xrd already looks like the best cell shaded game and it’s running on Unreal Engine 3…..

  • Alkhan

Well of course. It’s not like Suda 51 games actually do too well in Japan anyway, it would only make sense to go for a worldwide release.

    • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

I don’t think they do well anywhere.

      • Alkhan

It depends. Lollipop Chainsaw did well because it had a half naked teenager with a chainsaw on the cover with a lollipop in her mouth while in an “enticing” pose.

LC was the worse of his games but it sold on sex appeal. I hope Lily Bergamo doesn’t turn out anything like it, it certainly doesn’t look it so I think it’s safe.

But the thing is that they do absolutely horrible in Japan, whereas in NA they usually do simply alright for niche games. Nothing amazing, but passable sales for the kinds of games they are. Suda51 games (despite appearances) are just catered more for a western crowd in terms of gameplay in my opinion.

        • EX+

Exactly. I think that the concepts are catered the Japanese crowd. No More Heroes, about a guy who takes his anime and manga to seriously, LC a game about a half naked highschooler with a chainsaw who looks as vicious as Ruby from RWBY in combat and I really don’t know how to describe Killer is Dead. Lol

          • Budgiecat

            You missed:

            Liberation Maiden
            Shadows of the Damned
            Black Knight Sword
            Flower Sun Rain

and the PS2 import: Blood +: One Night Kiss.

      • AdachiTohru

They do well in my heart

      • LordKaiser

Well it’s not their fault that the publisher decides to launch their games near strong hits.

  • Elvick

I hope it’s retail. They’ve only done digital releases while that is understandable, it’s not what I personally want.

And unlike most Suda 51 games, this one looks like it can be up my alley from what we’ve seen so far.

  • EX+

Can’t wait to see some gameplay! 2014 seems like a good year for Japanese games.

  • PhoenixAutomatic~♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪~

Yes!!! I’m soooo happy! Looking forward to this!

  • Hidayat246

    oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 武神水樹

    Supreme action game

  • tokyobassist

I had high hopes for Killer Is Dead and it was really underwhelming. I’ll be picking this up but it’s definitely on a price drop or after watching some gameplay because Killer Is Dead seemed like such an ideal game as far as the combat system goes but it was pretty shallow.

and for the love of god Suda…POLISH YOUR FUCKIN’ GAMES!

Don’t just say “Hey! It’s functional. Good enough!”. No more. No more bullshit camera angles or loose controls.

  • Kodai Ichi

This is promising…Japan needs to return to the Playstation brand. Their absence on PS3, showed the lack of creativity by Western developers. The gaming industry is oversaturated by Western developed games, mainly FPS. It’s time to return to a diverse game era!
