$59.99 version includes premium pin display case.

Killer Instinct will be free to download when Xbox One launches on November 22. It will include a single character, with the option to purchase additional characters via Xbox LIVE. Consumers can also purchase the ‘Ultra Edition,’ which includes the first eight characters, for $39.99 via digital download. But for those who want a box, now there’s the ‘Pin Ultimate Edition.’

Available for pre-order for $59.99 on the Microsoft Store and due out on November 29, the limited-run ‘Pin Ultimate Edition’ is packaged in a premium case that doubles as a display for collectible Pinny Arcade pins. It doesn’t actually include a disc—there’s a full game download code inside the box.

Thanks, NeoGAF.

there are 2 pin included, thery are overdelivering values at Redomond.

  • kiri25

Really…. Most usually give u a special case for free if u pre-order but I guess ms feels that since the game is free to play they’ve given enough for free so yea $20 for a case “deal with it”

  • $18114340

    What a waste of plastic.

    • Hidayat246

      M$ hate greenpeace

  • Invisbin

They advertise it as free to pay, but I guarantee there will be no advertisements on this until after the game drops.

    • IfritXnc

I guess you learned your lesson, NOTHING is 100% free in this world

      • fuck xbox_One & PS4

    • MogCakes

I read your post in Xehanort’s voice.

  • Budgiecat

    What fuckin nonsense…

  • Sevyne

What in the fuck? $20 for a case? LOL! You funny MS.

    • $18114340

Correction: $60 for a case. The game is free after all, even if the characters aren’t.

    • IfritXnc

it’s optional. you don’t have to buy it. just play it for free with one character, or buy all starter characters for $20

      • Sevyne

And I don’t plan to buy it. Doesn’t make it any less retarded.

  • bloodiOS

What is that case made of?

    • Bryce Blalex Douglas

      Gold apparently

  • pekot

Will that is a good way to sell game before people know it sucks

    • zeothedeathgod

i played it at a convention. it LOOKED great, but it didnt play great :/, it felt like a really budgeted game. almost like it was put together in half a year or less. but i mean it looks great and they can always balance/patch it to fix it.

  • Elvick

    $20 more? lol

  • Hidayat246

” It doesn’t actually include a disc—there’s a full game download code inside the box.”

for the first time i don’t understand what that means

until i read again, M$ really want make a money

    • TiAn

Also, those pin included are only 2, it isn’t expalined how you could collect the remaining and how much (maybe you can buy other dlc in store as a pin+downloadble code?

anyhow, this is greed to the max ms :D

      • Hidayat246

        to be honest
since the first, M$ dont have interest too bring back Killer Instinct from dead

  • captainhowdy

No thanks. I’ll just download it, I was hoping it would be a disk included.

    Ah well.

There is a reason why there is no disc. Apparently there are people who don’t use their heads. How can you make a fighting game with an expanding overtime character roster? Sure. You can create a disc with a certain amount of players, but what happens to players who don’t have Internet? How are they supposed to benefit from a disc on Day One?

    • Sevyne

Huh? You put the shit on the disc like any other game. You talk like people are idiots and a disc version is impossible when it really isn’t. So go ahead and defend it all you want, but you are very wrong.

Or ya know, don’t try to sell us a cheap game case for $20 more than the Ultimate Edition. This entire thing is especially dumb when plenty of other games have has steelbook cases as a FREE pre-order bonus.

      • Ivan Maximilian Perez

Can you put League of Legends on a disc?

What if it was playable offline? Do you think they are going to make a fighting game and put 6 characters on a disc?

        • Sevyne

Dude…Did you really just respond to a 3 week old comment? Get over it. Jesus Christ move on already.

          • Ivan Maximilian Perez

Yeah because I was off on vacation. Just trying to say, KI isn’t a game that’s possible to be put on a disc at launch.

            • Sevyne

Listen, believe whatever you want. Pretty sure I’m not alone in completely moving on from this topic and pretty much have forgotten about it. If there is one thing I absolutely can’t stand is someone necro posting in response to me. Seriously, it’s enraging seeing that I have a response to posts made weeks or months ago.

I’m not even going to argue about the topic because (quite frankly) it’s a dead topic to me. I don’t really care.

              • Ivan Maximilian Perez

You obviously care. You took the time to comment on this post anyways.

    • $18114340

lmao when was the last time you played a fighting game? 1999? Even when fighting games are on discs the roster expands anyway.

  • Wolfcum

The business model for this game is lame, what a way to screw such an anticipated game. I wish Nintendo still owns Rare…

  • Serovath

40 bucks for ‘the first’ 8 characters? lol.
40 bucks for 8 characters? in 2013? lol again.

    • The Guardian Fox

This article is incomplete. 8 characters is $20, 8 characters + all costume DLC + emulated online original Killer Instinct = $40.

In addition you get Jago for free, all modes, and can purchase a single character for $5, and then if you decide you want all 8 you get the rest for a discounted price.

This edition comes with no disc, because this was never intended to be on a disc, it’s a digital download game. The pins is to give collectors who were asking for it, something physical to go with their game.

The pricing model for this game is actually pretty fantastic.
