Flower, flOw, Sound Shapes, and Escape Plan coming to PS4

PlayStation 4 versions free to users who already own them.

Four games already available on PlayStation 3 or PS Vita are making their way to PlayStation 4.

First, there’s Flower, Thatgamecompany’s PlayStation 3 wind-controlling, flower petal-blowing game. It will launch for both PlayStation 4 and PS Vita on November 15. The PlayStation 4 version will run at 60 frames per second at 1080p resolution.

Also due out on November 15 is Queasy Games’ music platformer and level creation game Sound Shapes, which is already available on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita.

Coming to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita on November 29 is flOw, the Thatgamecompany aquatic microorganism game that started it all, first released on PlayStation 3 in 2007.

Finally, there’s Escape Plan. Originally launched for PS Vita in February last year, the Fun Bits-developed puzzle game will launch on the big screen on November 29.

In Europe, all four titles will be available on PlayStation 4’s November 29 launch date.

All four titles are cross-buy, meaning if you’ve already purchased them on the PlayStation Store for other platforms, they’ll be available for download free of charge when you pick up your PlayStation 4. Likewise, if you haven’t bought any yet, they’ll be available across all platforms when you do.

Whoa, what? I didn’t expect them to offer them for free if you already bought the PS3 versions. That is damn sweet.

      Means just that, yeah.

And VITA. Escape Plan was never on PS3 (to my knowledge)

It should be this way with ever game, if you have already payed for it why would you pay for it again just because it has better frames and a little better resolution.

I wouldn’t mind paying 50 cents for their effort simply because its 99% the same game we have already payed for though.

  • bldudas

Wow, free? That’s really nice of them.

So PS4 retro cross-buy is now officially a thing … that’s a good sign for everyone wondering if Gaikai on PS4 will free stream games we already bought.

    • Azuardo

Good point. I hope other companies do this. I was worried this would never happen and I doubt every company will be as generous, but I hope they will be. Would love to get my Hotline Miami on PS4.

I think it’s a win-win for everyone. Their games get more attention, which means new sales, and gamers love them for not trying to double-dip, which in turn gives them more good publicity and more sales.

I wonder who handled the port for flOw and Flower. In any case, I honestly did not expect them to be free for those who have already bought the games, so this is an awesome deal. But I do wonder how it’ll work for those who bought Journey Collector’s Edition…

Nice. Hopefully more games that I didn’t bought for PS3 come to PS4.

  • artemisthemp

Hopefully Journey coming to PS4 also

  • Sevyne

Pretty neat that cross-buy is a thing passing over to PS4 from PS3/Vita.

    • Elvick

We already knew it was. When games like Hohokum (PS3/PS4/PSVita) were announced, they said as much.

      • Sevyne

Okay? Does that somehow change what I said? No, it really doesn’t. I still say it’s neat.

        • Elvick

It makes what you said irrelevant.

Since your comment implies we didn’t already know, which we did. We already knew cross-buy would still be an option going forward into PS4. Your comment wasn’t specifically about these games.

Be like starting a conversation like, “Did you hear the news? The world isn’t flat!”

          • Sevyne

Nice job twisting a simple and personal opinion of mine into something it really isn’t. Though, blowing shit up for no particular reason is kind of your thing I guess. Sorry that someone seems to have pissed in your Wheaties and you feel the need to lash out at me for being happy about something. Now if you don’t mind I’ll not continue this completely pointless argument you so greatly felt the need to start.

  • Elvick

Awesome! I would have gladly bought Flower again, but since I don’t have to… yay~

  • bloodiOS

For those interested:• Bluepoint Games is the team that handles the PS4 version of Flower. Makes you wonder if this IS the PlayStation classic that they were working on…
    • The PS4 version of flOw is handled by SuperVillain Studios, the same team that worked on the original game’s Expansion Pack.
    • Wholesale Algorithms is working on both the PS4 version of Sound Shapes and Escape plan.
    • There currently isn’t any “solution for determining which PSN accounts have purchased physical copies” of flOw and Flower, so if you bought the Journey Collector’s Edition, you can be pretty sure that you’re not part of this deal.Source:
