Titanfall, EA and Respawn Entertainment’s pilot versus pilot versus pilot-in-mech first-person shooter for Xbox One, PC, and Xbox 360, will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show in Chiba later this month, the developer has confirmed.

Asked if the game would also be present at Comic-Con in New York next month, the studio said has it currently has “no plans for that right now.”

how titanfall be at TGS since titanfall not on ps3 or ps4 and xbox 360 and xbone will not be in japan market

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Xbox One will come out in Japan.

Xbox 360 is already out in Japan.

      • Learii

really, then the article on silicon wrong?

The markets that will receive the Xbox One at launch are: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and USA. Microsoft say that “many more” markets will follow in 2014.

        • Kefkiroth

It’s right. Japan is one of those “many more” markets.

Why do they bother with Titanfall?
I know mechs are the big thing in Japan, but the FPS genre just doesn’t work over there.
Come to think of it, why is M$ even going to TGS? I know the XB1 is releasing their in 2014, but they have not got a single place in Japan. The only reason the 360 sold 2 million units (small number as it is) is because of the very few JRPG exclusives that came out for it. Even then, they all bombed so not a single Japanese dev would make an Xbone exclusive. The XB1 is DOA in Japan. I really do hope Japanese devs ditch the XB1 later on, because they’re games don’t sell on the Xbox. I can bet you that KH3 and FFXV will sell terribly on it. They aren’t even on the best sellers list for the XB1.

360 sold in Japan because of iDOLM@STER and Monster Hunter, lol. Otherwise, they consider it trash.

  • gerald

I’m curious to see how they’ll react to it because my tastes are usually more in line with Japan and I can’t for the life of me understand all the hype around this game in the west. All I see is another generic military FPS plus robots.

Japan loves Mechs, Japan loves Call of Duty.
Titanfall at the very least will raise some eyebrows at TGS.

    • gerald

Japan loves CoD…? I had to look that up and the numbers sure don’t relfect that, even if vgchartz isn’t the best source, these are nowhere near “loves it” sales. http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=call+of+duty

      • 罪罰

        MW3 outsold Nino Kuni
Black Ops II outsold Animal Crossing New Leaf
They dig it a lot, sorry if “love” was too strong.

        • gerald

O_o where are you getting these numbers?
According to vgchartz approx. combined Japan sales are:

          MW3 – 600k
          Ni no Kuni – 750k
          Blops 2 – 500K
          AC New Leaf – 3.5M

          • 罪罰

First week sales for both MW3/BLOPS2 was stronger than Nino Kuni and New Leaf. Now, in the long run they sold better both Nino/New Leaf. My point was

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Selling 600k+ doesn’t tell you they like it? Lol. That’s pretty good for Japan, period, honestly.

            • gerald

Okay I agree with that. I wasn’t trying to pick on you, just saying the implication CoD is huge in Japan was a gross exaggeration.

              • 罪罰

                Yeah, that was my mistake

You’re right on Ni no Kuni, but not so much about New Leaf. Even so, Call of Duty sells pretty well in Japan. It’s 300k to 470k should be considered successful.

Obviously we’re talking Japan-only sales here:

          Ni no Kuni (PS3) – 114,853 + 4,478 (All-In-One Edition)

          Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) – 3,789,641

          CoD: Black Ops 2 (PS3) – 298,225 + 176,781 (Dubbed Version)

          CoD: Modern Warfare 3 (PS3) – 258,215 + 132,955 (Dubbed Version)

          CoD: Modern Warfare 2 (PS3) – 249,068 + 64,897 (Popular Edition) + 47,418 (Dubbed Version Popular Edition)

          CoD: Black Ops (PS3) – 217,118 + 102,567 (Dubbed Version)

          CoD 4: Modern Warfare (PS3) – 113,957 + 199,091 (Popular Edition)

There’s actually a bit more, but the point’s been made. =P

It’s actually pretty surprising, but you’re right. The only time they hate it is when they actually redub the game, haha. That got a LOT of players upset. Guess they know how I feel now ._.

It would be interesting to Japan if it was on the PS ….funny how the cloud is their excuse but the 360 and PC does not have the cloud either. This game will flop anyway just like the X1.

I think it’s kind-of interesting that Microsoft is still making a push for Japan. I mean, clearly Japan neglected the Xbox 360— so, well, why cater to them? From what I understand it’s the western markets that are really supplying the core profits for videogame publishers anymore, and so really, if Microsoft were to embody a fully western aesthetic and focus, they could actually come out much stronger than they currently are. From what I understand, the 360 is still outselling the PS3 in America— and so, clearly, for some reasons I do not understand, Americans flock to the 360 because it embodies their interests more. And so— why not dedicate the X1 to fully embodying western desires and attributes?
    It’d certainly be interesting.
