A scenario app collection and PSP port.

Tales of Link isn’t the only mobile Tales game Namco Bandai has in development. News of two more have come out, likely via this week’s Famitsu. Find details below.

Tales of Bibliotheca (iOS)

  • Release Date: Mid-September
  • Pricing: Chapter 1 is free, Chapters 2 to 12 are 170 yen each. The full package costs 1,700 yen.
  • General Producer: Makoto Yoshizumi
  • Producer: Takashi Odate
  • Developer: Jupiter

Tales of Bibliotheca is a scenario collection app that lets you experience Tales series stories. Chapter 1 is Tales of Vesperia. Each chapter contains a summary, scenarios from famous scenes, newly drawn illustrations, and original battles. Voices from the original scenes will remain unchanged. There’s also a mode where you can collect your favorite voices. The game will be playable at the Tokyo Game Show next week.

Tales of Phantasia (iOS)

  • Release Date: Fall 2013

A Tales of Phantasia iOS port based on the PSP version. It uses touch screen controls and has micro-transactions for items, like one that can immediately revive you after you’ve been annihilated.

Well, I definitely don’t have to care about these unless they’re also on Android.

    • AdamBoy64

Yes, they’re leaving out a continually growing part of the market.
Also harder to develop for, sure, but growing nonetheless.

  • Jesse

I hope they have a NORMAL Tales game at the TGS, too.

    Waiting on that Zestiria.

    • Kkdog4Sado

      Definitely agree with that Sal.
      How are you enjoying Xillia?

Could we perhaps see a Gematsu review?

      • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

        I haven’t started yet. =x

My PS3 broke sometime last month, and I only just recently got one to borrow from my cousin. I’m buying my own next week when GTA 5 comes out (the GTA 5 bundle).

  • Zarathos No Daimaōh

The only interesting part would be if it leads to a translation of Phantasia for psp or vita

  • bloodiOS

    Wow, they actually used Bibliotheca.

  • Presea

No wonder it’s called Bibliotecha, it is quite literally a Tales of Library. A library filled with previous Tales stories. That’s pretty clever actually.

  • Leon_Tekashi

Okay, this is actually good. Reading Tales things on your phone. This is something that works. Nice Namco.

    • AdamBoy64

      Yeah, that seems pretty neat.

If it was available on a device I owned I would probably get it. A nice idea.

  • Budgiecat

” and has micro-transactions for items”

http://weknowmemes.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/wtf-is-this-shit.jpg I want a new Tales game and I don’t care if it’s next gen.

  • TheBlackRabbit

you know what? i don’t mind this. all systems need love, ^^

  • papermario

give me a real tales on 3ds

    • MK

      They did.

  • HighBrowDrifter

    I’ll just leave this here……

  • Kyle McDaniel

Bibliotheca seems kinda neet. The Phantasia port on the other hand is a big NOPE.

  • Elvick

Not pleased. Stick to handhelds Namco. (though I’m okay with Bibliotheca)

  • Willgaea

I rather just play all the games again.

  • Anthony Hayball

Namco, please bring the iOS Tales of Phantasia to the west. We need this game on our phones. If my brothers contiunously ask me for the iOS device then I want Tales of Phantasia for it.

  • LordKaiser

Now if they remake Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon X for Vita then it would be something to look for.

  • artemisthemp

I really wish Namco would stop giving the west the finger

  • AdamBoy64

If ToP iOS could be played on an iPad, and one could hook up a good bluetooth controller to it, that would be alright.

A 4″ screen (particularly with your fingers all over it), is just way too small.
    Touch controls are just horrible.
