Sega Sammy to acquire Atlus parent company Index [Update 2]

Persona under the same wing as Sonic and Yakuza.

Update: Following Nikkei’s report on Sega’s Index acquisition, Sega has put out a press release stating “This is not something we have announced.”

Original: Sega Sammy will acquire Atlus parent company Index for approximately 14 billion yen in November, according to a report from Japanese news site Nikkei.

Atlus is well known as the publisher and developer of the Persona, Shin Megami Tensei, and Etrian Odyssey series.

Sega, as well as J Trust, were one of the approximately 20 buyers reportedly interested in purchasing Atlus when it was up for auction last month.
