Yep, but of course, all are welcome in the Titans embrace ;P

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Toats ready, yo. Sad the season is ending, though. Anime news followers, have they confirmed a season two yet?

      • Anime10121

Unfortunately, not yet. Though most of the time, these things are announced at the conclusion of their final episode.

        • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Booo! I hope they confirm soon. =/

    • Charlottes Guardian

Ohhhhhhh yes! I don’t want it to end though! My body needs both the Manga and the Anime to keep going on lol

      • EX+

The series has made toomuch money.
They’ve already announced a live action movie, a whole manga based around Levi and a prequel manga. They’d be mad not to make a second season.

        • Charlottes Guardian

Thats what I like to hear! :D

  • GhostNomad

The article’s picture reminds me…. WHERE THE HELL IS CHAPTER 50?!

Here is something I find interesting.

    Assassin creed iv (360)
    Natural doctrine
    Dynasty warriors exteme
    Thief (360)
    Diablo 3
    MGV (360)

    Dragon age (360)
    Destiny (360)
    Mine craft
    Helldivers
    Forgotten memories
    Mad max (360)
    Dcu

    Titanfall (one and 360)

Every game listed is for both ps3 and ps4 with the exception of Titanfall but I have a feeling that might go ps4 seeing as it’s EA. however my question is with so many games on both ps3/ps4 and couple listed for x1/360 do you think this could effect sells of the next gen systems seeing as so many titles are bring announced for both Nxt and current gen.

I’m also curious if you think could hurt the ps4 more so than xbox1 since the x1 does seem to have more x1 only games where ps4 has more ps3/ps4 games. This of course meaning upgrading is not necessary to upgrade to play many of these upcoming ps4 games b/c they are on both ps3 and ps4.

    • MosquitoLemon

This happens every gen, though I wonder if this is the first generation where the gap between dual system releases won’t be so large…

I don’t think it will affect sales though, many people are already locked into getting a PS4.

      • kiri25

It happens yes but nvr to this extent. This gen we are seeing more than just madden, cod, FIFA, and nba games. I can’t recall many games that we’re not sports games that end up on both the ps1/ps2 or ps2/ps3..

Tho this is understandable seeing as the difference in graphics between ps1 to ps2 and ps2 to ps3 was such a huge jump.

This time around the jump is not so great so it’s possible to have on both current and Nxt gen.

        • Anime10121

Yea, there arent many third party exclusive games confirmed exclusively for Next Gen. The only exclusively next gen games so far announced that I can think of are FFXV, KH3, Deep Down, and Dead Rising 3, and its no telling when ANY of those (barring Dead Rising 3) will actually launch.

This is definitely the most barren we’ve ever looked as far as a coming gen has gone…

        • MosquitoLemon

true, I can mostly think of sports games

  • MosquitoLemon

Style Savvy 2 is just…. so, so good. Totally justifies buying a 3DS (though SMTIV is really good… but not this good) However, super salty KOFXIII tonight (may stream, we don’t know yet).

  • almostautumn

Just hounded the platinums for Killer Is Dead and Sly 2 finally; got my total up to 26 now :)
Now if only these trophies could be used for buying groceries…

Also! Finally got around to playing the Gundam Breaker demo; that game is straight up slick! The graphics are somewhat minimal, but the overall lighting effects really spruce it up quite a bit. I’m in a tiff between getting it for Vita, or PS3. I prefer portable 1000x to console, but at the same time I’m a bit worried that the game will be a bit too diminished on Vita via graphics. Normally I don’t care about graphics but, as I found the gameplay to be overall a bit simple (it’s expansive, but the core-gameplay itself is simple) I think I am putting a bit more weight towards graphics for this one.
Not to mention it’s $20 cheaper for PS3 than Vita, also.

    • Arcana Gear

hey, how it’s Killer is Dead? i got interessed on it but it got mixed reception here in the west. So i put it on the to search list

      • almostautumn

I had an awesome time with it. The average of its scores in the west was ‘Mediocre’ and i absolutely, 100% disagree with them. The gameplay is the most solid of any Suda51 game; it’s a hack n’slash, but there’s just a big emphasis on dodging/timed blocks/parries that really enlivens each battle. Plenty of variety in the ways enemies attack/approach, and the game is really much more packed with content than reviewers said. My final playtime, for conquering the 3 difficulties (and subsequent, several challenge/bonus missions) was about 30 hours. I hit the platinum after 40 hours.
It’s a great game, man. It is a bit minimal in some degrees; again, combat, while variable, isn’t too complex, and there’s very little to do in the game maps besides kill-and-proceed (there is one collectible found multiply scattered throughout each level). Still; the art-direction is just so inspiring, the story is very funny (if you *get* Suda51 humor, that is; journalists called it sexist/crass but I can assure you that is absolutely not the intention nor value), and the replay-value is just through the roof for a game like this.

        • Arcana Gear

          thanks ^.^
Yea i know that reviews about this type of game aren’t trusthworthy, but i was only interested in this game (never played a suda51 game) and then there was a little confusion about some things and i kinda forgot bout it.

  • MosquitoLemon

Also, as a fan of Tekken Revolution, I thought it proper to discuss the latest update – specifically the character unlock pass.

Yes, as has been suspected all along, NamcoBandai is allowing you to pay to get the characters you want, rather than praying that you get who you want for every 30,000+ match points you earn. The cost per character? $6. I’m fine with DLC and companies trying to make money, but $5.99 per character seems rather steep. I think they would have been better off doing 3.99/each and a 4-pack for 9.99. Yes, if you main a specific character and are really invested in TR, you’d probably put down 6 bucks for that character, but I am really struggling with the idea that I could get an awesome PS1 Classic for the same price.

We’ll see how this factors in when they introduce the fan-poll character (mid October was it?)

    • Anime10121

Its the free to play way, rip off the people who want more characters and thusly more variety! Its why I’m hoping this “ftp fighting game trend” doesnt catch on and become popular, as I think it will be the death of fighting games as complete packages with varieties of characters :(

      • Budgiecat

They pulled the idea from the mobile phone games. Apparently people buy into it there in spades…..

        • Anime10121

I know, thats why I’m hoping it doesnt catch on on actual consoles. This is NOT the direction I want console fighters to go in :(

    • Budgiecat

Seems about right for Namco considering JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure All Star Battle DLC characters will be 600 yen (which is roughly $6).
Currently they are on a limited time only sale of $300 yen.
Plus this is Namco we’re talking about…..ever see the Idolm@ster and Tales DLC prices?

so par for the course I guess..

      • MosquitoLemon

True, I’ll be curious to see how much they actually make off of them though. Hopefully there will be a sale as well, 3-4 dollars is reasonable, especially since I’d only be getting one character.

    • Elvick

$6 for characters is a bit much. I’d never pay that, especially in a game with reused assets. I can justify it for games like Blazblue, where there is clearly effort needed to create the characters.

But for something like Revolution? Far less effort.

Oh well. I’m done with the game, have few spare GB on my PS3 and got all the trophies already. So I’ll just move back to TTT2.

  • Anime10121

A Mikasa image header for the final week of this awesome show, so very appropriate :D

    FFXIV:ARR post

    ***

Holy @#&$!!! Had my first encounter with Ifrit last night. That was just insane, IMO. We got wiped 3 times and my character (conjurer) plus a DPS was dead at the end of the winning battle.

My heart was literally pounding while I tried to keep my party alive (and I don’t understand why I can’t raise in battle?) . I was so used to keeping on eye on just the tank, but this time I had to watch everyone.

And I was struggling even more because I still don’t 100% know the PS3 controls (like, I don’t know how to access the limit break, and in general during FATEs, I can’t target fellow PCs and heal them for better experience points over just attacking the enemy).

But I (sort of) got through, lol. Went with the Twin Adder Grand Company since it just felt so right with my character, and

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Sounds like you had your first big mmorpg event experience. They can be frustrating but incredibly fun at the same time. This type of stuff is what makes mmorpgs great. You really can’t get the same experiences from other games.

You eventually won, yes? One of the best things about these experiences is how you learn from them. They help prepare you for the next time you do that event, and even help prepare you for future events. It’s pretty awesome imo.

      • new_tradition

Haha, yeah, I guess there is some gratification to be found.

Although the lack of communication is starting to become apparent in random Duty Finder parties. I kind of wanna join a free company, but I’m still confused how that even works.. .

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I haven’t used Duty Finder much, but I can only imagine. Most people will not want to take the time and type out a general strategy for the group, or take the time to read all of the text if someone does.

A free company is more or less like a linkshell. The difference is – you can level up the free company and stuff, which is mostly done by the leaders. Once you join a FC, you can chat with them, do events with them, etc. FC is usually like a clan, or a private group of friends, etc.

As a new member, the first thing to find out is what type of rules they might have set. Some are more casual, while others are more core/hardcore.

Where some might allow anyone to join, and not require you do anything, others might have requirements to join, and also have events that you are required to take part in if your online, etc.

My advice would be to try and find one that sounds right for you. Often times a free company will have a website, or explain what they are about in a shout.

I’m currently in one from my previous time playing XIV. I’m not really sure how i feel about it currently.

I would have liked to create a Gematsu free company and had us all playing on the same server. That just didn’t work out, sadly.

          • new_tradition

Whoa, well ask and you shall receive. I dunno if something special happens when you get to some point in the story, but I got invited randomly to 3 different FC. I said no to the first 2, but I actually accidentally accepted the third one, lol. Oh well, going by the chat, the people seem pretty cool, so I’m not gonna ditch.

But…I don’t know how to participate in the conversation with a PS3 controller. When I enter my dialog, there’s no [FC] before my words, and no one acknowledged what I said (people welcomed me when I joined, so I don’t think they were just being jerks, lol), so I dunno what to do…Am I supposed to manually put [FC] when I type or something?

Awwww…Well, everyone gets to have up to 8 characters for the minimum sub, so maybe a Gematsu FC can still happen in the future. Like, I know I wanna focus on one character for now, but with all these sever maintenances happening seemingly randomly across regions, I’m making and deleting characters on whim (today I couldn’t login with my EU character, so I just made a new one on the JP server for fun; I might keep him though…)

            • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

You should be able to click the chat bubble icon and click free company. I’ll try and take a screenshot of it later to help explain.

    • Kobracon

On the PS3 controller, pressing down or up on the D-pad goes targets your allies and only your allies. Very useful for healers. And I recommend putting Limit Break (located in General Actions under the Actions and Traits menu) to a hotbar. Preferably a second hotbar so you don’t accidentally activate when you don’t want to.

P.S. Wait till you get to Titan ;D

      • new_tradition

Oh yeah, I forgot about hotbars. Thanks xD

D-pad works well with parties, but I mean if I was soloing and wanted to heal some random players on the field (like during FATEs) I can’t target anyone but enemies. It really frustrates me ’cause I wanna help, dang it :/

        • Kobracon

Ah, well in the options, its fully customizable actually. You can be VERY specific with how your targetting works, you just gotta spend some time tweaking.

          • new_tradition

Dude…I never even checked it out before. The options are right there, holy crap. Thank you :O

(Oh god, there’s a lot of things I completely missed. Attribute points? Yeah, I’m am level 25 and never used any of them yet X_x)

I actually still don’t 100% get a lot of control when targetting, but that’s when there’s more than 10 characters in the FATE so I guess there’s some server loads at play too. Hmmm…

  • LordKaiser

While the west wait for PSO2, here’s what JP is getting in October 6.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2kyunYkoXIU

Super Hard Mode! New infections and a new boss. Also a new e-quest on the newest area of Lilipa.

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

We’ve had a post for Bravely Default since this morning. =P

      • LordKaiser

        Damn I’m getting blind XD

    • Budgiecat

      Yeah saw that already

Now where’s mah DRAGON QUEST VII REMAKE S-E??

  • Anime10121

Time to vote for Call’s design everybody!

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9/posts/611851?ref=activity

Which design you going for! I’m torn between everything E on down :(

    … But I just went with F.

    • https://twitter.com/Panda_castro Panda

      Voted for F.

    • LordKaiser

For me F and I where the best

      • Anime10121

I liked I too, though not NEARLY as much as F and H.

    • bloodiOS

      I voted for H.

      • Anime10121

My second choice (well honestly, F and H were so close it was a toss up)…

    • Arcana Gear

voted for I, and i think that Comcept kinda ruined the competition by tossing off aero call and putting only roll call, i thik it’s clearly who will win.

      • http://popculturesocialclub.com/ DreamDrop♥

no, because Aero could be another character and this way they didn’t split the vote.

    • Charlottes Guardian

I went with E but I really love B too! Reminds me of my waifu Nodoka from Negima?! xD

    • Azuardo

Went with E. Reminds me of a cute air hostess.

  • RSene

So… since Deep Down is an Online RPG, do I need to have PS Plus to play it?

    • Anime10121

Probably… though I do recall someone (at Sony I think) saying they were looking to see if a way to play online only games was available without Plus..

      • Elvick

Depends on the publisher of F2P games. Not sure if that applies to any subscription based MMOs or not.

But I’d imagine it’s the same. It’d be stupid otherwise.

    • Raiyu

F2P titles don’t have to be behind PS+, it’s up to the publisher.

      • RSene

So.. how the rule of ‘multiplayer needs to be a PS Plus member’ works? What are the rules?

        • MrFinalgamer

i believe that for all retail multiplayer games you need plus. F2P games are left for the publisher to decide

  • gerald

Any NHL fans psyched for the new season?

As a fan of both DET and OTT, looking forward to the sparks.
Maybe this will be the year the Oilers stars live up to the hype?
Crosby or Malkin for the scoring title?
Will the Leafs have an even more disastrous end to their season? (haha)

    • Elvick

      My boyfriend will be, but I’m not looking forward to it. I hate sports. D;

      • gerald

My girlfriend hates it too, and yet she loves those singing/dancing competition shows and forces me to watch them with her. Most boring competitions ever.

        • Elvick

And I don’t like those shows either. :P I watched some of season 2 of The Voice, until a terrible singer got through over someone infinitely better. Never even made it to the live events.

Haven’t watched any of those since. No desire to. Especially when EVERY DAMN SEASON (on American Idol at least) they advertise the same “THE BEST SINGERS EVAR THIS SEASON!!!! PLEASE OH GOD PLEASE WATCH OUR SHOW!!”

          xP Never!

I don’t make my bf watch shows he hates. He only really hates one thing I watch though, People’s Court. It’s dumb, but I watch it.

  • bloodiOS

One thing that I dislike about the anime version of AOT is that Mikasa, in many occasions, seem less murderous than her manga counterpart. In the manga, she looks incredibly bloodthirsty, and her eyes are pitch black without any reflection, a classic trademark of a killer’s eyes, but nah many times she was just made to look way too feminine. Take the part where she threatens the merchant, it was so much more epic in the manga. And episode 24’s filler parts where she’s beaten are just pure disagreeable bullshit!

    • Revorse

      Yeah, Mikasa is sorta insane.

    • GhostNomad

I love how she literally has no fucks to give in the manga, unless Eren is involved. The fact they made her a little bit more ‘approachable’ in the anime doesn’t sit well with me, but then again I stopped expecting anime and manga to be exactly the same >.>

  • Revorse

So….I have somewhat of a serious/random question to ask, just cause.

But what keeps you going in life? I’m not asking like what prevents you from committing suicide or anything that tragic, but what makes you keep moving?
School’s boring, you feel like learning/studying is such a chore. Much more difficult than it used to be. Money isn’t tight, but it sure as hell isn’t flowing. Work is tedious.Y’know stuff like that. What pushes you to just deal with it and move on?

    • bloodiOS

I live because I don’t want to miss out on tomorrow.

      • Alkhan

        I heard that somewhere before…

        • bloodiOS

          Really? Interesting.

    • gerald

Knowing that life is short and there’s more to enjoy than I’ll ever have time for. Best of all, I get to live as a human. We live like kings compared to other life. So, no time to be down or bored or worry about things. Just enjoy it, it’ll be over before you know it.

      • Revorse

That’s an interesting view. It’s pretty optimistic though.

    • Elvick

Because I don’t want to miss out on new things. Which for me, is mostly anime, games, movies and things. Not really “experiences”. Since I don’t really care about that crap. I’ve seen the ocean, that’s about all I ever wanted to do. (I was born in Kansas, so :P)

I like being comfortable at home, so don’t care much about travel or trying things.

    • TheBlackRabbit

……Because there is so much i don’t know. The potential of the future keeps me going. No matter how bad it is today if i can make it to 2marrow perhaps something will change. I want to know will technology will go, and i want to know how this world will grow. I know it sounds hella cheesy but….this is how i keep going.

      • Tac-Mex

        This

There are a lot of new things each day, i want to see what happens

    • TheBlackRabbit

NOw you mr.Revorse…what keeps you going sir, :D

      • Revorse

I do suppose it’s only fair to say mine after asking you all. To be honest. what keeps me going is simply that I’m afraid to die. I mean going day to day if rough and sometimes just plain tiresome. Sometimes I just don’t wanna exist. But dying just seems scary. Even more so when you realize it’s unavoidable, but hey, just trying to take life one day at a time.

        • TheBlackRabbit

hmmm i can understand this. 1 day at a time, :D

    • DichaTesoro

My family. I just want to be there for them and help as much as I can since they’ve always been there for me. My friends/co-workers too. They make work fun and bearable (we work with the public) when patrons are going nuts on us or things just seem dangerous. I also enjoy helping people find what they need or whatever at work. And my pets. After a bad day, seeing my blind kitty’s cute face eases everything.

Just got have a good attitude is what people tell me. Might be lame, but works.
      Interesting question there, Revorse.

      • Kobracon

        Its blind? D:

        • DichaTesoro

She was born that way. Missing her left and her right covered by a messed up third eyelid and just non-functional. She’s the cutest cat I know:

          http://estropearse.tumblr.com/post/42480900860

          • Kobracon

Damn. Thats a tough deal, but she carries it well :D

    • GhostNomad

I live so that I can be a better man tomorrow than I am today. I know that might seem selfish, living for ‘myself’ and such, but that’s not the case. I want to be better so that I can do more for my friends and family, and even just a random stranger.

That’s a more recent motivation though. When I was a kid, I lost someone very important to me, so I live and carry her with me because she no longer has the ability to do so. Up until that point I was just going through the motions, playing with action figures and just being a stupid kid, so I didn’t really have a specific motivation since death wasn’t on my mind :P

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’ve been through some rough times, had some very dark moments and thoughts.

For a long time in my life, I had no idea what my purpose was, or what path I was on. Those problems combined with my real life led me to live a destructive life style.

The funny thing about life is how it can always teach you something new. Sometimes it teaches you about other things, other people. Sometimes it teaches you about yourself.

Things eventually change, I was able to learn from all my experiences. I used those experiences to try and help make me a better person. I still do.

I still might not have everything figured out, I’m not sure what my purpose is, or where my path in life will take me.

      Thing is…

Life is full of endless possibilities. It can also be incredibly unpredictable. The moment life is over, that all ends.

I suppose I keep going for quite a few reasons. It’s complicated and a little weird. Just like me. I learned to embrace it and enjoy life. I enjoy the small things, I enjoy my hobbies and things I’m passionate about.

All of those help keep me going, along with other people. I strive to be a better person everyday, and I try to bring something positive to other people’s life everyday.

This reply is already long enough, and I haven’t really given you a concrete answer. I’m not sure I have something concrete though.

I still don’t have all the answers, I’m still not sure where my path in life will lead me. I just keep on going. I’m on this ride for the long journey. When god decides my ride is over, then it will be. Until then, I suppose I’ll just keep doing my thing. =)

    • http://popculturesocialclub.com/ DreamDrop♥

I keep trying to kill myself but I always fuck it up.

That sounds like my typical macabre sarcastic (and caustic) commentary, but I’m actually serious. I drank poison and someone saw me and saved my life.

Has anyone seen Kotobukiya’s recent figure of Ryougi Shiki?

I couldn’t resist and ended up pre-ordering myself one:

    http://img.amiami.jp/images/product/main/133//FIGURE-002364.jpg

    • Eclipse

Here’s the lovely illustration that it’s based on:

      • Revorse

I dunno who this is, but this particular pose somehow reminds me of Yuna

        • DichaTesoro

I saw a glimpse of the one on the right first and thought it was a new Yuna figure. It’s lovely figure.

        • Eclipse

Now that you mention it, the pose is a bit reminiscent of the sending that Yuna performed at Kilika.

The character is Ryougi Shiki, she’s from a series called “Kara no Kyoukai”. It was originally a novel series written by Nasu Kinoko (Type-Moon), but it was later adapted into a series of seven films by ufotable.

I’d highly recommend the films, they’re really good!

I’m all thumbs when it comes to fighting games.

      • GhostNomad

I’m one big finger just mashing away and hoping something good happens. There’s a reason I don’t play much online :D

        • bloodiOS

Here’s a fun fact, most of the time when playing fighting games on console, you only need your thumbs ;)

          • GhostNomad

Actually I used to use the arcade-style grip on my controller, so my left thumb worked the D-pad and my right index/middle/ring fingers were on the face/shoulder buttons…. But in the end, I’d end up using all five fingers on my right hand (to smack the shit out of whoever I was playing against).

So screw your facts! I DO WHAT I WANT!

            • bloodiOS

I’m just saying that having more thumbs mean better, which makes me good at fighting games because I’m all thumbs ;)

              • GhostNomad

Yeah well you know what? I’ll just get up and unplug the console. I WIN. WHAT UP. You can’t hang with this, Annie!

                • bloodiOS

I’ll bite my thumb at you.

but wait….we pretty much only use thumbs for controllers..so isn’t that good o_0

        • bloodiOS

I see that you got the hidden meaning ;)

    • $18114340

I think that’s like saying you’re going to start playing tennis to go to the US Open. If you seriously want to compete at fighting games you’re going to want to attend smaller local tournaments first. Although I suppose recently EVO has been resembling something more of a con than just a major fighting game tournament.

Getting good at fighting games is always something I wanted to do but could never follow through with. It’s difficult to find people to play with and a lot of the games I think I’d be into aren’t particularly popular (which goes for anything that isn’t Street Fighter, Marvel, or MK, really).

      • TheBlackRabbit

lol there is nothing wrong with saying that either. The us scene isn’t particularly strong anyhow..so it would be doable? ;D But seriously I have been practicing i go to a local every sat(that they have them). Will go to a major soon :D

        • GhostNomad

I will secretly make my way into the crowd and give you the 8] staredown.

  • RSene

Let me ask, how do you embeed a video to start in a specific point? I saw Gematsu doing this today, but I couldn’t do…

    • $18114340

Youtube gives you a URL if you use the “Share” tab and checkmark the box to start at a specific time. Otherwise, you can manually edit the URL by appending ?t=xs to the end of it where “x” is the time you start in mins/seconds. So to start 1min 2secs in you’d type right at the end of the video URL, ?t=1m2s.

      • RSene

But this only works with the URL link, not the embeed, right? I mean, I can’t find a checkmark when I go to get the embeed code

        • $18114340

Yeah, you’re right. In that case, I don’t know how to get it to work, sorry.

        • GhostNomad

When you embed, you still put the video link in there. So you just have to add the time at the end of the link inside the embed code.

          • RSene

All right.. I remember that I tried this once before, but I’ll check again to see if I can make it.

Does anyone else think that PC fanboys are getting too excited about Valve’s 3 announcements this week?

    • $18114340

Not any more excited than Sony fanboys getting too excited about the PS4, or Microsoft fanboys getting too excited about Xbox One, or Nintendo fanboys getting too excited about Wii U…

Actually, can we stop categorizing people and trying to trollbait them with these kinds of questions, because it’s completely idiotic?

      • RSene

        You just categorized him/her as idiotic… :)

        • $18114340

          Correct.

      • Gariya

PC fanboys are quite the most vocal, though. They keep demanding everything to be on their platform and flaunt off their hardware’s technical superiority as if PC gaming is the be all end all form of gaming even though console gamers are not interested mainly in the PC gaming library.

        • $18114340

This is a baseless generalization and a terrible stereotype that needs to die. I think this goes both ways. I could just as easily say that console gamers flaunt their hardware’s technical superiority as if their platform of choice was the end-all of gaming, even if I wasn’t interested in those libraries. Often it seems like they’re more concerned with fighting over specs, logistics, and economics than they are with the games themselves.

I am speaking, of course, from the standpoint of a Wii owner, who had to put up with all sorts of stupid shit from PS3 and 360 fanboys on a constant basis, and I’m still seeing it happening. Trust me, I didn’t feel any better than any “marginalized console owner” feels now in the face of PC gaming.

If someone is being a jerk towards you about how superior they are for being part of the “PC master race” (which should not be taken seriously), then it means that they’re a jerk because they’re a jerk… not because they’re a PC gamer.

          • Kobracon

I like how everyone took what Yahtzee said in Zero Punctuation out of context. When he first coined ‘Glorious PC master race’ he was saying it so ironically XD

But yeah, everything has its fanboys, its just that there are far more PC owners than consoles

            • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

So you’re saying he’s the cause of all these ‘Glorious PC master race’ BS?

I’m gonna have to agree with the ‘far more PC owners than consoles’ comment..

              • Kobracon

I believe so, coz I never heard ppl say that till sometime after that review he did that had it (The Witcher I believe)

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Some friendly advice – Ignore the fanboy comments, don’t take them to heart. It’s just not worth it.

  • Gariya

Will JRPG and/or Japanese games in general gain more presence in home console this gen like 6th gen and before? Will the dudebro gaming and cinematic experience die off?

I’m not liking how PS4 is looking very western-focused so far. It’s not that I’m a weeaboo, I just more diversity like prior gens.

    • $18114340

Considering how insular the Japanese sector of the games industry has become and how niche their favorite genres have remained, I highly doubt it’ll get any better from here. Cinematic gaming is only just getting started, especially if you believe all the hype coming from Microsoft and studios such as Remedy and Quantic Dream. And a lot of once-prominent Japanese development studios are working on mobile now as their primary platform, which doesn’t bode well for western fans since many of these games are locked into regional services. Look at Sting, Cave, Treasure, and Tri-Ace. The Japanese industry kind of fell apart. Even G.Rev is saying they can’t make shmups anymore.

      • Gariya

Ah, yes. I also forgot to address mobile gaming. It also played a huge part in decreasing diversity in gaming and making Japanese gaming to be more and more low-profile and cheap. The more I try to see it as a fad, the more it become prominent. Truly a frightening force in the Japanese console gaming scene.

        • $18114340

Even as a large part of the industry flocks towards mobile, the console space is still getting bloated on extremely high-budget video games where only statistical outliers are actually really successful. Mid-core gaming isn’t a very viable financial choice either since there’s so much of it these days due to the much lower barriers of entry to development. All in all, the modern gaming climate is pretty chaotic and moving towards dangerous extremes. There are a lot of factors involved and it can’t possibly be very sustainable in my opinion.

          • Rydak

This last gen was very weird. As Western developers started to flourish after the 360 and PS3 had been out a few years, the Japanese developers were being pulled by two different audiences in two different parts of the world; the explosion of handheld and mobile gaming in Japan, which didn’t justify jumping onto nextgen consoles right away because of the high cost to develop and the technical difficulties of the PS3 at the time; and parts of the Western market that still wanted those nextgen console games that still pressured them to make at least one or two games. Fiscally, they’d be obligated to try and pursue that market, but being so difficult for them on more personal levels was probably every frustrating for Japanese Developers, while I think it was more cut and dry for Western Developers for how they could allocate resources.

Of course, whoever the developer, it ended up where the PS3 would typically be the lead console to develop for, then the Xbox 360 and/or PC. That’s almost doing the same work three times. As for this next generation of gaming, since both consoles are fairly similar to each other and to that of PC’s, I’m hoping that game development will now be easier and become streamlined. Hopefully that can alleviate a lot of the chaos… or at least I’m hoping and wanting to be optimistic of the upcoming generation.

    • Kobracon

While I profoundly disdain the use of that ‘W’ word which shall never be mentioned (embrace! Done’t deny it!!!) I would like to think so. All these JRPG kickstarters popping up could mean something. And then theres Ubisofts UbiArt JRPG.

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

You gonna consider that the Japanese industry isn’t as eager as the West… They aren’t really to jump onto next gen just yet… Give them time….

i can see the Japanese industry picking themselves up after two years or so…

    • Budgiecat

On one hand you can say yes because the PS4 is more PC friendly which means easier to program for which means less man hours which means development cost savings. Developers like Koei for example are already grinning ear to ear blessing the ease of its ability to develop games for.

On the other hand you can say no too little too late because the market in Japan has shifted to handhelds and mobile phones and is not looking back. as well as the big budget push of “Hollywood’ized” cinematic games of the West has still not wowed Japanese gamers nor is it an enticing thing for smaller Japanese gaming companies to try to strive for. PS4 arriving in Japan 3 months after the Western release while its still a Japanese product is very telling of current situations..

      Point: Too early to tell.

  • Martian Wong

Do you guys support Obama care? I found it unconstitutional. How can you get penalty for not buying something? Let just say you have to pay 2400 dollars a year for medical coverage. If you dont buy it, they will charge you 1500 dollars per year. So that mean, you pay 2400 for buying something and you have pay 1500 dollars if you are not buying something. Is it right? Let just say if you walk into a store, you walk around looking for a pc but you think it is too expensive and decided not to buy it. Then the manage comes over and stop you and asked you to pay a huge amount of it because you dont want to buy a pc that is expensive to you. The government just robbed our rights.

    • Zackasaur

I come from a constitutional law background. Obama was a constitutional law professor. A right-wing dominated Supreme Court ruled it constitutional. It is constitutional, without any doubt.

Now, let me make a few things clear:

      1. You have -never- had the right to be “off” healthcare. You just used to be able to be a leech. If you refused to pay, you drove up costs for everyone else. If you got hit on the road, regardless of your ability to pay, the government would take care of you. That drove everyone’s costs up. The point is that, as an American citizen, it is impossible not to partake in healthcare. A law passed under Reagan further guaranteed that.

      2. We already have laws that mandate that you get car insurance if you drive… For the same reasons. It’s a necessity, institutionally.

      3. Taxes are constitutional. It is fully justifiable to have a tax for being a dead weight in the healthcare system.

As you can see, healthcare and a computer are not the least bit alike, so your analogy doesn’t work. You would have to compare healthcare to, say, citizenship.

In short, you didn’t lose any rights. You just gained a massive list of new ones! You are a more free citizen than you have ever been. You’re free from being ditched by the healthcare industry if you have cancer. You’re free from being abandoned if your child is born with a pre-existing condition someday. The Affordable Care Act is a huge step forward for the US, though it’s not the final step. We still need healthcare to become a truly public service. We’ll get there eventually.

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions. I’m happy to respond.

      • Martian Wong

I paid a lot of tax each year. And now they expect us to give more rather you get it or not? How do you know I got used to it being a leech? I got not medical insurance for over two year. The government takes care of you, yes with you paying for it. Yes, I agree that it might be a huge step for them. But I still believe that one should have a choice and no penalty should be issued. You can choose not to get car insurance(by not driving) But why can you have a choice here? What is somebody is unemployed? Still gets penalty?

        • Zackasaur

I updated my post with a little more exposition/information. You responded at the same time, so just a heads up.

If you live as a citizen in the US, you benefit from the healthcare system. Beyond that, if you’re a decent person in the slightest, you benefit from knowing that your fellow Americans are now healthier, safer, and more free.

You don’t have a choice here, because you’re breathing. You can choose not to drive (a totally ridiculous choice for the majority of America, of course). You cannot choose to stop living, unless you commit suicide. If you commit suicide, sure, you’re no longer part of the healthcare system. As long as you breathe, though, you are a walking risk to the system, driving up the costs of people who DO pay into it.

If someone is poor, they get subsidized insurance support. They can get healthcare with assistance.

The fact is that the individual mandate is required for costs to be driven down. The ACA drives down costs at a pretty staggering rate. Meanwhile, the benefit of all the new money being poured into the system is that Americans get more healthcare rights! You’re no longer abandoned to a ditch if you have a pre-existing condition. You can no longer lose your healthcare just because a company thinks your cancer is too expensive. Companies are now required to spend at least 80% of their earnings helping people, while they used to try to spend as little as possible helping people so as to get way more than 20% profits into the pockets of their owners and CEOs.

          • kiri25

Maybe you can explain Canada then? From whist I understand they have free healthcare, so why is it us can’t provide the same.

Of course like I said I’m not to familiar with their free health care system or how it works.

            • Zackasaur

It’s not just Canada. Actually, the US has the worst executed healthcare system in the entire industrialised world.

What every other industrialised nation has done is implemented a public healthcare system. In other words, healthcare is provided as a service by the government. The US healthcare system is profit-driven (but the Affordable Cart Act/Obamacare is limiting that, thankfully!). Other healthcare systems are people-driven. They’re focused on treating and curing people, instead of making money for CEOs.

It’s simply a universally superior system of healthcare, and hopefully the US will move to it eventually. There are a lot of names for it, like “socialised medicine,” “free healthcare,” and “public option.”

EDIT: So, yeah, the Affordable Care Act doesn’t yet bring us up to the standards of other nations. But it puts us a whole lot closer! And even that is too much good will for Republicans to stand.

          • Martian Wong

What if a person does not like the health care provided here? Some people actually believe in Chinese traditional medical practice and they pay the doctor each time they visit. So they get penalize? Also, what about those that just make barely above the requirement? People like me would actually prefer pay each time I visit.

            • Willgaea

Yeah Canada has free health care and they don’t have backstabbing banks.
Their system is about 1000 years ahead of us. Even when the Great Depression hit they were unfazed.

              • Budgiecat

Pretty sure I seen a vid the other day about Canadians complaining about crooked banks and mortgages

wow, people still play MW2 MP?

        • GhostNomad

Hell, I do from time to time. That was easily my favorite CoD. Sadly it’s filled with hackers but I suppose with BO, MW3, BO2, and soon Ghosts, it’s kinda ‘old’ already. But to be fair, any CoD seems to be ‘old’ when the new one comes out :D

  • bloodiOS

Currently running iOS 7 on iPhone 4 and I have to say, it runs like shit! Slow and unresponsive, Google Chrome, in particular, started crashing a whole lot more now…

    • GhostNomad

I’ve found through extensive testing that New OS + Old Hardware = Bad time. The last two phones I’ve had turned to complete shit when I upgraded the firmware due to a ‘mandatory’ update from my carrier >.>

Also, are you experiencing the headaches and nausea that some people have reported after using their phone for 20+ minutes?

      • bloodiOS

Nah, I usually use it for more than 120 minutes. Don’t feel anything particularly unusual…

        • GhostNomad

I wonder if it’s due to the OS running poorly. The complaints I’ve heard seem to be from 5S users, so it’d be fair to assume it’s running properly there, what with all the animations being smooth and such.

Thing that sucks is, far as I’m aware there’s no way to downgrade to the previous OS, is there? If not, I hope you’ll be able to renew your contract soon so you can get a new phone.

          • bloodiOS

            Yeah, pretty frustrating right now…

            • GhostNomad

I know the feel. When I upgraded my Android to ICS, everything went to shit. Apps crash, battery gets drained fast even if I’m not using it, there’s a whole bunch of mandatory apps which such ass, and probably the worst for me…. Pictures occasionally get corrupted >.> I took a few pictures with a couple of my buddies down range and they all got corrupted, so I lost those.

    • Budgiecat

      hmm..

      Guess I wont upgrade then..

  • bloodiOS

Stumbled across a pretty awesome music video of One-Punch Man:

    http://youtu.be/HzmPt5Tzwes

    • GhostNomad

I’ve been meaning to read that manga for a while. Have you read it before, and if so, what are your thoughts? Would you recommend it?

      • bloodiOS

Read it! Pretty funny and badass.

        • GhostNomad

Awesome, I’ll get around to that since SnK seems to be updating pretty slow as of recently. But first I need to watch the rest of the P4 Anime…. And then I wanna watch s-CRY-ed again >.> Been meaning to revisit that for years <.<

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I should really watch s-CRY-ed again, too. It’s been years, but I enjoyed that series.

            • GhostNomad

Easily one of my favorites to this day. Though I really should make more time for anime. There’s some awesome shows out there just waiting to be experienced.

              • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Agreed. I need to find more free time for anime again.

                • LordKaiser

                  Same as me.

              • Willgaea

For every day we don’t watch anime, another 5 series comes out.

          • Willgaea

The team that pops out On punch man takes their sweet time. It’s pretty dam awesome though.

            • GhostNomad

A lot of the usual releases seem to be slowing down. Hell, hasn’t the last volume of Soul Eater been due for a few weeks now?

              • Willgaea

                True.

        • Nice Boat

Does it get better at some part? I got until the cyborg sidekick is introduced but felt too repetitive to me.

          • bloodiOS

Just keep reading, it’ll get better. It’s not really that time consuming anyway. You’ll probably get caught up within two hours.

  • Azuardo

People with a PS3, DOA5 Ultimate: Core Fighters is a free2play version of DOA5 Ultimate, and deserves to be download by you. I love this game so much. Give it a go and get in touch if you fancy some matches together with me :)

I bought DOA 5 Ultimate yesterday, having a blast unlocking everything!

    • Kobracon

Let me take a wild guess that you main Kasumi?…..naw its prolly Ayane

      • Azuardo

You’re smarter than I thought! :p Yes, practically only ever use Kasumi :)

        • Kobracon

Cool. My Bayman would like to grope you ;D

          • Azuardo

He’s too big and burly >:( Don’t be destroying her now!

            • Kobracon

Bayman is an extreme chiropractor. You won’t feel a thing ;)

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

I have the original DOA5 so should I?

      • Azuardo

Original DOA5 won’t be able to play online with DOA5U players, so yeah, you would need to d/l Core Fighters.

Your data from DOA5 transfers over to DOA5U, such as costumes and titles. Your online rank and records are started afresh.

Remember that in the free2play Core Fighters, there are only 4 characters permanently unlocked (Kasumi, Ayane, Hayabusa and Hayate), plus 2 more which changes every 2 weeks (currently Eliot and Leifang). If you use one of the first 4 mainly, then that’s perfect (like I only use Kasumi), otherwise you’d need to purchase the characters you want or buy the full game.

But it’s still pretty awesome that people are given the chance to try this game out and play all the game modes.

    • Budgiecat

      wut bout Girl Fight

      • Azuardo

Hadn’t heard of this before. Not too sure it’s any good.. :/

Check out this J-RPG Kickstarter project from France:

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1447029533/edge-of-eternity

The creator asks for a minimal goal of $200K and the game will be available on PS4, Vita, Wii U, and Xbox One (NO STRETCH GOAL NEEDED.) If the project reaches $600K, the developers will be able to create much higher quality assets for next-gen versions.

    • TheBlackRabbit

      NOt too shabby!

    • Zuhri69

Oh, Bloodios. You and your Kickstarter project. Hahaha.

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

Isn’t this the same developer who made a game prototype looking very similar to FF7?

Something along the lines like Black tower…. I can’t remember…

    • Budgiecat

They need to pick another name. That sounds way too close to a name of a JRPG already out

      http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_LCph-cDpj_w/TNTW9Yx3KTI/AAAAAAAAEFg/1zHisxcczdk/s400/PS3+End+of+Eternity.jpg

      • Kobracon

        Exactly what I was thinking!

      • Revorse

I want a sequel to this very badly.

        • AdamBoy64

What was the original like? The Box Art looks fantastic.

          • Revorse

It’s different. Instead of magic and swords, the characters use Guns. It’s mostly about the relationships between the main 3 characters and their backgrounds

            • AdamBoy64

Hmm.. I wonder how it compares to Resonance of Fate. (which, I well, keep seeing around the place but haven’t picked it up).

It sounds like EoE is probably a far bit more story driven? It seems like it, anyhow.

              Thanks for the response man.

              • Revorse

They’re the same game as far as I know. I’m not sure why the name got changed when it was Localized.

                • AdamBoy64

                  Oh whoa. Right.
                  Didn’t see that one coming.

I think the boxart for EoE looks way better than what got in the West. So much better.

                  Thanks for the info.

Y’know, sometimes I feel like no one appreciates hot-bloodedness anymore. Its all about tragedy, melancholy and mystery. I miss the old days of shouting and screaming. Thank god for Platinum Games and Super Robot Wars

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

G-Gundam instantly comes to my mind. (Dragon Ball, too. Yeah.)

“This hand of mine glows with an awesome power! Its burning grip TELLS ME TO DEFEAT YOU! TAKE THIS! My love, my anger, and ALL MY SORROW! SHINING FINGER SWORD!!!”

      Something like that. =)

      • Kobracon

Yes exactly, and you’d be surprised how many Gundam fans ignore G-Gundam. I’m just the opposite, its the only Gundam series I like

P.S. I actually memorised that entire line he does in Japanese long before I started learning Japanese XD

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Nice! I like G-Gundam, too. I can typically watch most Gundam, I just enjoy mecha series I suppose.

          • Kobracon

Well well…there may be hope for this planet yet…

            • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

You have reminded me that I really need to find time for watching anime again. I miss it, but my free time is so darn limited these days. Its frustrating.

              • Kobracon

Oh I know the feeling. There so much I know I should watch but just don’t have the time. Heck I’m ashamed to say that I love SRW yet have NOT watched the two anime seasons ABOUT it…

        • LordKaiser

I hate G-Gundam with passion but Gundam Age is taking the spot and Seed is very close.

Try Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Gun Buster, Die Buster.

One Piece and Faery Tail – Most Shonen type of anime are like this.

          • Kobracon

You underestimate me good sir, I watch all of those and even more that you prolly haven’t even heard of. I love G-Gundam coz its a Super Robot and it doesn’t have a whiny protag who screams ‘STOP FIGHTING’ while killing everyone with his 4 giant laser cannons and laser rifle (looking at YOU Kira you whiny sack-of GGRRRRRRGGHH)

    • Gariya

      Try playing the Yakuza series.

Kiryu is one of those “calm badass” types like Jotaro or Kenshiro.

      • Kobracon

Oh I love the Yakuza series. Its not that I’m missing them, my post is about not alot of ppl appreciating stuff like that anymore. Like its something thats old fashioned or something.

        • Anime10121

It is “old fashioned”, meaning, only us who watched those shows as kids “get” stuff like that. To the rest of the world, its just corny as hell.

          • Kobracon

            yeah…..thats just depressing…

    • MosquitoLemon

      Kenka Banchou

      • Kobracon

        Menchi-BEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!!!! Love that game.

Have you read a manga called Kongou Banchou? Its so awesome!

    • LunarHaven

Asura’s Wrath takes the cakes when it comes to that I guess lol

      • Kobracon

No kidding. I have made it a tradition to play that game once a year all the way through. it’s enough hot-blood fuel for at least half a year!

    • Nice Boat

Is Super Robot Wars fun? I thought it it was turn based and combats can take a while.

Also, hot headed? HERE WE GO! LET’S PARTY! I’M ABSOLUTELY CRAZY ABOUT IT! JACKPOT! ARE YOU OKAY?! BUSTAH WOLF!

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfmijD2XaqM

      • Kobracon

YEAH BASARA! And yeah I love SRW. Have you SEEN the attack animations? The DETAIL! The CINEMATOGRAPHY! The EMOTION! The IMPACT! Aw I never get tired of them. It helps that its quite easy to play despite not knowing any jap. The RPG elements are quite deep and its just….how can you NOT get excited to see Getter Robo and Mazinger kick ass alongside Gurren Lagann and Gundams!

        • Nice Boat

Yeah the crossover aspect is nice but I got bored of Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2 after some hours because it was very repetitive. Is the combat in SRW better?

          • Kobracon

Dynasty Warriors Gund-…dude, tooootally different genre. SRW is an strategy RPG and looks like THIS http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3g_DQmjMb0

And imagine EVERYONE (almost) is that hot-blooded in the game!

  • $18114340

Some developers have gotten their hands on Valve’s new controller and here’s what they think:

    http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/201195/Select_game_developers_used_the_Steam_Controller_Heres_what_they_said.php

It’s important to realize one thing here if nothing else: this is a controller made for mouse-input games, primarily. Do not think of it as trying to replace traditional controls. That’s not the point at all, and I think that’s the source of confusion here. It is meant to supplement them in the same way that an arcade stick is used to accommodate fighting games and a steering wheel is meant for driving games.

More details from one of the creators of Super Meat Boy:

  • Arcana Gear

So there was a location test for the new Persona 4 arena game, and i found this image:

    http://www.4gamer.net/games/229/G022917/20130927110/screenshot.html?num=004

there is in the character selection screen six portraits with static, probably one is for the red head, so there is more five portraits…. In who you bet/wanna be in the sequel?

    • MrFinalgamer

Tatsuya (even though it would make no sense) or Maya. or someone from the original games…
maybe Marie since she’s technically canon. Koromaru would be nice, albeit weird.

      • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

If MvC3 can have Amaterasu, then I don’t see why we couldn’t have Koromaru.

    • Nice Boat

A Shadow of the P3 protagonist as hidden boss.

  • PrinceHeir

    Hi guys :D

    it’s been awhile now!

    i miss you all!!

been busy with school and have two tests next week :(

    so how you all been?

i haven’t played many games(haven’t even finished Dragon’s Crown, Digital Devil Saga 2 and even the DLC of Fist of the North Star Ken’s Rage 2 or Metal Gear Rising)

definitely have tons of backlogs to do!!

oh a few minutes ago i just finished Killer is Dead and wow my mind is blown at what to think of this.

i read a few theories about the symbolism and potential backstory.

Suda51 definitely needs to make a sequel on this as well as No More Heroes 3!!!!!

so aside from that, i also started playing Ace Attorney(the first game) on my 3DS(BC FTW!) and wow this game is addicting as hell!!

oh and i’ve mastered Hiragana at least 90%!!

it was intimidating at first, but once you keep repeating it it sticks on you!!

still need to learn the contracted sounds and i’m good to go ^^

plus it’s one of my tests next week, gonna write hiragana as we hear the words.

i’m also at Monster Anime episode 24 last night and wow!!

amazing series! i hope more companies should follow the Monster and stick to the source material more in their anime counterparts ^^

so yeah that’s it for now, i’ll try to catch up tomorrow or after the test!

    • Kobracon

Oh hey didn’t know you were taking proper Jap lessons. Keep it up! Once you get Hira down, then its Katakana, and then comes hard mode: KANJI

If you ever have questions or wanna practice/tips on grammar, feel free to ask ^_^

      Ganbatte, Ouji-sama

    • MosquitoLemon

DDS2 has been on my back burner for the better part of a decade, hahaha. I never expected to beat it, but dang

    • Nice Boat

Try Metal Gear Rising. It can cure depression just by playing its first boss fight.

  • EX+

Does anyone else think the KH3 graphics look like Star Ocean Last Hope International, but improved?
Also, I need Kyoto Ani to make season 3 of Haruhi, NOW.

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

      Less creepy? then yes….

It took me a while to get used to the doll-like characters when I first started it…

    • Anime10121

Nah, I went back to watch a SO4 vid just to make sure, but no, SO4 just looked…wrong. KH3 still looks like KH, just with vastly superior graphics…

      • EX+

        I know what you mean.

    • Nice Boat

The KH3 trailer reminded me to the KH2 CGI ending but with something different.

      • Anime10121

Less CGI perfected facial expressions :P

  • EX+

Has anyone else been watching vines recently?

  • EX+

I don’t like how the MN9 KickStarter has been functioning. Just to get one version, we have to get 900,000 big ones. Whereas for Shantae, we get 360, Xbone, Wii U, 3DS, PS3, PS4 and VITA versions right off the bat for 400,000.
Then for handhelds and next gen consoles, we have to get over 3 million.

    • almostautumn

I don’t quite understand the degree of cost either. It seems literally like a classic megaman but with higher quality animations/graphics. That doesn’t really seem to consitute 900,000 from consumers alone.

    • Anime10121

The prices/stretch goals are a little steep…but I want another Megaman type series, and if this is the only way to get it…then I’ll support it. Especially since Capcom has essentially killed the real one :(

      • EX+

I’m betting Capcom is gonna get jealous and a fire in their ass will force them to make a MegaMan game. Especially if MN9 is successful.

        • Anime10121

They already basically said on their forums they dont care. The pledged amount is decent, but the amount of pledgers themselves is the problem… :(

Plus, they HAVE announceda Kickstarter for a new Megaman game

          http://www.polygon.com/2013/9/25/4768780/licensed-mega-man-the-board-game-to-hit-kickstarter-soon

          lol

          • EX+

That’s true. I have heard people saying that MM has a cult following, but the games didn’t do amazingly well. And I don’t want a board game :p.

            • Anime10121

They did great… when they were on a home console and Capcom managed to put forth actual effort. I LOVE Megaman, and even I can say X7 was below half assed :(

    • GhostNomad

It’s pretty much supposed to be a jab at Capcom. Especially how it would cost $3.3mil for next gen consoles and $3.5mil for current handhelds >.> I’m excited for the game but the amount of money they require for certain things is complete bullshit.

    • Elvick

It’s brilliant how they’ve manipulated Mega Man fans and used the Capcom hatred to gain extra money.

Not only that, but they were smart enough to dangle the platforms that make the most sense for the game millions of dollars away from the goal.

      Inafune definitely worked at Capcom.

I’ll probably buy the game when it comes out, if it comes to PS Vita… (maybe PS4 if it hits that) But I’m just shaking my head at the people jumping at this kickstarter without thinking about it.

      • EX+

Yeah. When I saw that the PS4 and XBO versions would cost 3.3 million, I decided not to pledge.

      • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

I have a feeling it’ll somehow come to all platforms regardless of whether or not it reaches the stretch goals.

        • Anime10121

Yeah, the goals are just guarantees. It’ll DEFINITELY be at least the on PS4 and Xbone regardless. Now, for the 3DS, I dunno, and the Vita is the least likely considering Vita owners likely have PS3/4’s and can just remote play it…

  • Invisbin

My Psn is GuardianRoxas. I mainly play KZ3 and TLOU, I have access to BF3, RE5+6, and you can use my pawn in Dragons Dogma DA if you need a good Ranger ;D

Wow, TGS has come and gone…I had high hopes that GungHo would reveal a new Grandia or at least a new Lunar… I guess GameArts will never be the same in the RPG section of the company =´(

  • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

    So here’s something: http://www.sega.jp/topics/130925_2/

That’s Sega’s press release for Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax. No platform announced yet, of course, but the bottom of the press release says “Nintendo 3DS is a trademark of Nintendo.”

This is causing some to speculate Dengeki Bunko is a 3DS game. Normally, I would report on this, but I’m under the assumption it’s a copy+paste error, considering the screenshots released for the game are 1280×720 (HD), and not 3DS’s standard 400×240 resolution.

Then again, 3DS might be totally possible. We’ll find out in not too long, luckily, as Dengeki’s fall fest is next Sunday, October 6.

    • $18114340

A 3DS port isn’t out of the question, but I doubt it’s the primary platform. The most likely path for any Japanese fighting game is to get released in arcades first, then a PS3 port, and possibly a Vita port. I honestly can’t imagine this being on the 3DS, because as you’ve pointed out, the resolution is too tiny and the game would have to add in 3D effects for no reason. Sounds like too much work for an anime tie-in game that’s already been shown at a much higher resolution.

    • Anime10121

      God I hope not :(

My 3DS does NOT like imports :(

Wow! Been a while since I’ve been here. Anyways, I hope everyone’s having a great weekend!
I recently stumbled upon Play-Asia ‘s Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Orders and They have a release date set for the asian version of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, October 2013. So I hope this is true but last I saw was a Winter Release. So either It’s a release date or a Mis-Information.

    • Azuardo

Not true, unfortunately. We’ll know about it as soon as they announce the date. Hopefully it won’t get pushed to 2014.

      • PhoenixAutomatic~♪(๑ᴖ◡ᴖ๑)♪~

Aw, That’s Sad & Yeah, I really hope it doesn’t get pushed back to 2014.

  • EX+

Do you guys think they’ll have a PS4 bundle of FFXV? I hope they do.

    • Anime10121

There will DEFINITELY be a bundle, now whether or not it comes to the US, that is the real question…

Though it wont matter to me anyway, as I’ll have my PS4 in a few weeks :D

      • EX+

Cool. Did you hear about the Conversations with creators that Nomura is having about KH3? I don’t think he’s gonna drop a bomb and I definitely don’t think we’re gonna see new footage-I’m not sure about what he’s going to do.

        • Anime10121

The same thing he did with the FFXV Conversations interview. Dress up old news with new words for the entire duration, all while showing the E3 trailer in the background. :(

          • EX+

I can’t tell you anymore because I don’t want to spoil anyone, because… all I can say is: Watch the ENTIRE episode.

    • AdamBoy64

Yes, I’ve noticed and I really dislike the changes.

I’ve never wanted to join a social network – but Google is forcing me to do that so I can continue using YouTube.

That in itself isn’t too bad, but because it’s tied in with my Gmail address, all my contacts are going to assume I’ve joined Google+, and start sending me messages / getting annoyed I’m not responding to them.

I think I’ll end up moving my e-mail away from Google to keep my e-mail account and YouTube account separate.

It’s a nice way for Google to spike up their social network and compete with Facebook, etc. – make it mandatory for people if they want to use YouTube.

I’m glad they didn’t choose to go with some bullshit ending that was pretty much a “Yeah we might continue it, but probably not, so tough shit”.

    • bloodiOS

I pretty much expected to end there since day one. Even before the anime was announced, when I saw that part in the manga, I knew it would be a perfect place end an arc if an anime was ever going to happen, since it’ll definitely grab the watcher’s attentions and get them talking about it.

hello guys i have a question about Pokemon.

so i haven’t played a Pokemon Game since Crystal(which is from GBC days)

so with Pokemon X and Y coming up it looks like they have made a lot of huge improvements over the years(didn’t even know there were tag team battles, and shiny pokemons are becoming the norm now)

i want to ask does all of the Pokemon appear in the X and Y versions in addition to the new ones?

kinda like what for example, Black and White 2 that introduce new Pokemons will appear on Pokemon X and Y right?

can you also do battle between Pokemon Black and X versions? since both are 3DS games or it’s only for X and Y games?

and also what about the story? i haven’t been following since the Crystal Days.

do you always have a new trainer? anyone memorable they introduce?

and any other games should i try? what about the remakes?

i heard Heart Gold and Soul Silver is amazing since i did play both the originals back then

and finally any tips for someone who is starting fresh after Crystal? :)

    • shogunknight

I havent played pokemon for a long while now (Last played Ruby & Sapphire) but i think i can answer a few. It should include all pokemon from generation 1 to the current generation. Im not sure you can do battles between Pokemon X and the other 3ds versions (think its only importing). Story should be pretty much the same (Starting from home, going to the lab to take one of 3 generic types of pokemon and then traveling to different stadiums to become pokemon league master), only difference is that in X & Y you get your first pokemon from a friend (not sure between a generation 1 and 6 pokemon) and then get another from the professor in the lab. About the trainer, if you mean the character you are using then yes and the most common person they put in pokemon is usually professor Oak (from the ones i played). Never played Gold/Silver. As for tips, i guess we both may be in the same boat, ive missed about 2-3 generations of new pokemon so i have to check on them, see their stats and weaknesses. Aside from that, you should know the rest,
      Get a flying pokemon
      Get a surfing pokemon

      Get a strength pokemon
      Get a bicycle
      hmm, cant remember the rest…..

    • Willgaea

I just want to see Pokemon out in the wild. My mind was blown when I played Pokemon snap. Let the magic come out of the bush and into my world.

As a tip. You don’t really need to prepare yourself to play pokemon. It’s not a hard game unless you plan on playing in tournaments. It’s still the same grind fest it’s always been. It’s still fun though and addictive.

Edit : Now you got me hooked to this.

  • bloodiOS

So yeah, after buying a PS3 SL and going through all the data transferring, HDD swapping, backup, full format, and restore, I am now finally able to play The Last of Us. Man, oh man, it’s such a graphical beauty!

    • GhostNomad

It’s a wonderful game. When I preordered it, GameStop ended up selling my copy literally a few minutes before I made it into the store to pick it up (on release day, mind you, I didn’t leave it there for a few days). Considering how hyped up I was for it, it’d be an understatement that I was unhappy with GS so I went over to a former Army bud who works at BestBuy now, had him order the game online and have it shipped to the store for me to pick up. Alas, that was going to take a few days, and I wasn’t in the mood to wait, so I ended up renting the game for $2 a day >.>….. <.<….. I beat it in two sittings.

And not to say that it's short. It took me about 17 hours to get through the story (excluding the few parts that frustrated the hell out of me and I had to replay for an hour until finally making it through). It was just such a beautiful experience, visually, emotionally, the audio was marvelous…. I couldn't put it down even if I wanted to. Which I didn't. But y'know, if I did want to, I wouldn't have been able to put it down.

      • kiri25

Yea I worked at GS for 5 yrs as a manager and sadly corp. instructed the employees to sell reserved copies to walk-ins despite the fact the the games are suppose to be held for 48hrs.

I’m truly shocked no one has actually tried to sue then for this practice tbh.

    • 罪罰

At first I was extremely hyped for it, then I cooled down but them I played it. Game of the year. I still haven’t played GTAV though

I love The Bouncer. I don’t understand the hate it gets. I wish I had it. ):

I’ll never tire of playing Flower, Final Fantasy VI, Kingdom Hearts (all of ‘em), Costume Quest, Gravity Rush, and Ratchet and Clank (all of them, even the ones people hate :P)

      • GhostNomad

Hey, don’t worry about other people’s opinions. You enjoy what you enjoy and don’t be ashamed of it. I was raised by a very strict parent who thought games and cartoons are for little kids (yes, anime fell under ‘cartoons’), so it was rare for me to enjoy anything simply because if I got ‘caught’, I’d get yelled at for hours and hours, and I was sick and tired of hearing the same shit over and over again, so I didn’t want to put up with it. It took me far too long to actually grow up and stop valuing that person’s opinion as if it came from God, and with that freedom, I just wasn’t really bothered by other people’s opinions in general.

It was at that time that I actually started to go on my own path, try new things, and enjoy myself for a change. Yes, it’s pretty much when I moved out also, so I guess putting some distance between us was the best thing for my relationship with my parent. But anyway, that’s when I also stopped caring about what people saw me play, so I ventured into the realm of ‘bad games’. It actually bothers me just how many fun games get little to no appreciation just because X reviewer said this and that. Sure, the game might have some technical flaws and goofy dialogue, but that just adds to the experience and makes it more unique in my opinion! Of course there’s some games that just aren’t enjoyable, but that varies from person to person, so the best way to know if a game is for you is to just….. Go get it and play it :P

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I always have really liked The Bouncer, too.

    • http://www.di.fm Spicy Chicken

Aghhhhhhhh!!!! I hit something by accident on the keyboard and lost my post!!!! >__>), not to mention super fun game mechanics that just refuse to get old. I’m not a ‘platformer’ generally (hence my disdain for Mario), but Klonoa’s a game I have to play at least once a year like you said.

Resident Evil 2: It’s a classic, and my favourite game of it’s type next to…

Silent Hill: Yes, the f****ing first one. It hits me so hard playing this game, even now. I know where all the monsters are, I KNOW what’s going to happen, I’ve practically memorized some of the dialogue… and still it sends shivers down my spine in places. Now THAT is game design…

Street Fighter 2 Dash: It may seem redundant, but this is one of my fave 2D fighters even now. The modern interpretations are too complicated, too involved to be as fun. Dash was the last game before they went all ‘Turbo’ (and then went ‘Super’, the agony >__>
Seriously though, it’s also an awesome and fun game, and apart from the super cheap bosses has few flaws in my opinion. Shame they don’t make them like this anymore, it NEEDS a truly HD (think, Dragons Crown level of quality) remake, with the addition of Felicia being the only change to the game proper that I’d make.

Tekken 3: Sticking with fighers, my favourite 3D fighting game of all time, no exceptions. I’ll sometimes play Tag 2, feel like crap at some cheap combo that destroys my character, go back to Tekken 3 and feel good again. And isn’t that what gaming is SUPPOSED to be about anyway? Feeling good? When did that become a bad thing? Or is the world just full of masochists or something!??! O_o
Anyway, I do like Tekken in general, but the only one I play regularly is Tekken 3.

Hmm, this list is getting way to big, so I’ll just list the following names and leave everyone alone! :P
Ace Combat 4 (I like 3, 5 and Zero too, but 4 is the best), Doom, Driver (the original, NOT the sequels), Rock N’ Roll Racing, Rage Racer and Ridge Racer Type 4 (and maybe 5, but only if using the JogCon).

Whew, that’s too many isn’t it??? I should just stick to the classics and be done with! :P

Though Namco are revisiting StrangeReal so there’s still hope…

      • GhostNomad

I know the feeling all too well. My mouse has the thumb buttons, and every now and again when I reach over to post something, I accidentally tap the Back button and end up going to the previous page, losing everything I typed >.> But this mouse is so comfy and good that I don’t want to get rid of it D:

As far as your games, that’s quite the list! In reality, there’s far too many games that I absolutely love and can keep playing for hours on end without realizing just how much time has passed. With certain games, I love the story. It inspires me and gets my mind going like nothing else. Others, I love the gameplay, it draws me in and brings so much joy and entertainment. Graphics aren’t a big deal to me anymore, but I always appreciate a beautiful game, that’s for damn sure.

Man, I love games. I don’t see myself ever quitting :P

      • Kobracon

YEAH KLONOA! And yes, Eihander was the SHIT! It made me love Shmups even BEFORE I knew I loved Shmups!

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Quick answer from me here since I need to get some rest.

Just about any classic JRPG. I can think of so many, but all of them remind me of some of the best times in my life, as a teen.

I would spend my summers playing them in my room. At least 10 hours or so a day of gaming, no worries, no problems to really deal with. My only real worry was how school would eventually start up again, lol.

Good times. I really should revisit some of those games. I wish I had more time. In many ways, life is far more complicated these days, and in some ways that isn’t for the better.

I can relate 100%. I remember back when I was a kid, I had to take highschool entrance exams to see if my scores will be good enough to get into the ‘good’ places’. Back then I had the habit of over-thinking things, so I’d freak myself out about a test and then actually see the test and almost cry because of how easy it is (I was an emotional kid, don’t hate >.>). At any rate, even with that bad habit, I remember studying for the test, but what I remember clearly was not actually studying as much as wanting to get some mandatory reading out of the way just so I could play games when everyone was asleep.

The night before the test, I lost myself in Legend of Dragoon for the third time. Next thing I know, my alarm goes off. It’s test day and I didn’t get any sleep. And instead of freaking out, all I could think about was the game and how much fun it was. The love for games was stronger than the fear of doing bad on a test! Which could be bad, since tests are kinda important, but I ended up doing good so it worked out in the end :D

Of course there’s plenty of times where games have gotten me into trouble, but this is supposed to be a positive story so we’re leaving that out!

PSA, kids, do your studies. School’s important, no matter what you want to do! But also make time for games. They’re awesome.

    • Azuardo

It’s pretty much the three PS1 FF games for me – FF7, 8 and 9. I usually try to replay them once a year, and it’s usually always in the same order – 7, then 8, then 9. Three games that made me who I am today. My FF789 marathon is due again, actually.

      • GhostNomad

        That’s another thing.

I love looking back at games and my fond memories of them, especially the things that made a strong enough impact to mold me into the person that I am today.

In all honesty I was kind of a dick when I was a kid. I’d pull pranks and be mean to the girls and do stupid shit just because it was cool. I’d feel bad for it afterward, but then I’d just watch some cartoons and go to bed and forget all about it. Eventually I’d end up losing someone very important to me, and that kinda wiped the slate clean, so to speak. It completely reset me and brought out this strong sense of justice which was only reinforced by games (since you generally play as the good guy). Games played a crucial role in shaping who I am today, and while I still have plenty of flaws, I wouldn’t want it to be any other way.

    • Charlottes Guardian

There are a couple of games that give me that forever in love feeling. I know FFX is the biggest one, seeing as its my favorite game of all time, but FFVII is also a huge one as well.

Some others would be the hugely unappreciated Radiata Stories! I love that game so much and I wish more people knew about it. Also Dark Cloud 2 brings back those amazing memories and I could play it over and over. I play Kingdom Hearts 2 all over again about once a year now-a-days lol. But It holds such a huuuuge place in my gamer heart, so I could play it 1000 times.

Did I mention Radiata Stories? Because I really do love that game. :3

      • GhostNomad

I love underrated games. Everyone can tell you everything about the huge, well-known games out there, but those games that kind of flew under the radar end up being some of the best games I’ve ever played! I think I’m a gaming hipster >.> But then again I also love a lot of the big games too <.<

        I just love games :D

        • Charlie

ICO is my favourite game of all time and always will be. There hasn’t been a game that I have loved as dearly as ICO (with the exception of Shadow of the Colossus).

      • AdamBoy64

Oh man. Another fan of Radiata Stories. Neat!
I originally saw it on special at Play-Asia for a good price, back in late 2011. (So, not that long ago compared to the age of the game).

I played it through and enjoyed it. It had quite a few unique concepts, and great character development. And the soundtrack was really something too.

I feel like perhaps it could have been executed better. I really enjoy the game but I wouldn’t say it’s up with my all-time favourites.

I’m tossing up between doing a second playthrough or not, and proceeding down the other story branch.

Recently though I’ve really enjoyed just watching a playthrough of the game on YouTube. It might peak my interest enough for a second playthrough.

How did you come across the game?

        • Charlottes Guardian

Honestly: I have no idea. lol

I got it when I was pretty young, but even as I got older, playing over again and again never gets old for me. The world felt so alive and the people felt like they had more to them than the standard, “Great morning out, beware of wolves in the field as they can [poison] you for 15 damage a second!” lol.

I would definitely recommend playing through whichever side you didnt take the first time, and also I would recommend picking the human side at some point and really getting to know the people of Radiata! They are quite…unique to say the least xD

          • AdamBoy64

            Ah, that’s neat.
It’s a game you have a bit of a history with then!

I was fortunate enough to see it in a sidebar or something on Play-Asia for a cheap price, and the cover looked interesting. I’m glad I did find it.

I’ve played the non-human side, and I sort of thought the storyline faded out quite significantly at the end. I found it pretty disappointing.

I did enjoy that interaction with the other people in Radiata – I thought it was really neat all the quests and things to do to recruit them.

I think I will give the human side a go at some point.
I just have to have the determination to not follow Ridley. It’s going to take everything I’ve got.. lolz.

        • PrinceHeir

ohh Radiata Stories is around 20$ in amazon right now

          might get it!

          • AdamBoy64

Yes, that’s about the same price I got it for. But that’s a really good price at $20.

I’d be honest and say it’s not my favourite game ever, but it was well worth it.

    • Gigus

Thats a tough one……………….Um……. for a ps1 classic and ps2…….. ugh….. Chrono Cross and FFX. For this console generation, I gotta go with Infamous 2. (snes megaman X)

      • GhostNomad

Hey, any game on any console. Doesn’t matter which generation it was. Hell, if Duck Hunt was the most fantastic experience you’ve ever had and you find yourself always carrying fond memories of that game around, more power to ya!

I just hate that fucking dog. I love animals, but that dog…. >.>

Back on track though, I gotta replay the inFamous games. I got half way through 1 recently, then a bunch of awesome games started coming out so I kinda got distracted <..>

I was actually playing God Hand the other day. When I first got the game I was a total beast, but now I’m like, “OK, I died, enough of this crap!” At least I get to run around in the alternate costumes as a reminder of how I beat the game at one time :|

Also I never got to play The Bouncer! I’d love to try it out, it’s a damn shame people gave it crap when it was first released, I can’t find a copy anywhere now.

edit – oh, and games I will forever love? Urban Reign (absolute must-play PS2 title), Kaidou Battle 2, and a few others. I don’t have time for most of the games I used to love anymore, just the thought of dropping 30 hours into an FF game makes me cry, ahahha.

      • GhostNomad

I made the mistake of not playing GodHand for a while and then when I finally decided to play it, I jumped in on Hard and decided to do the Kick Me! challenge >.>

        Mistakes.

        Were.

        Made.

I still love it, but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna go back to Easy until I get my chops right. And I might need a new controller because at the rate I’m beating up the right analog stick, I really don’t see this old controller lasting :P

Far as The Bouncer, Amazon has it for $15 used, so if Amazon is an option for you, that’s one way to get it. For me, I bought it years ago, let a friend in highschool borrow it, never saw it again, but I kinda forgot about it. Then one day when I worked at GameStop a few years ago, I was bored and ended up looking through one of those big boxes full of PS2 disks that were $3 or less. That’s where I found The Bouncer for $2 and I was happy!

        • MosquitoLemon

Yeah, I regularly search the PS2 shoebox (what the bins have been downgraded to) when I’m in a GS. Hoping to find a copy of the Bouncer and Fire Pro R. They actually have the latter as a classic on PSN, but I want to get it for my friend that doesn’t have a PS3.

    • Nice Boat

Yeah God Hand! I also replayed Final Fantasy X, Persona 4 and the Megaman collection, Zone of the Enders a lot.

    • AdamBoy64

One game I think I’ll always love is Secret of Mana.

There’s a lot of other SNES RPG’s that would fall into that category, but none that top it.

    • MrFinalgamer

      a bit late…sorry for that.
anyway, to answer the question, any KH game. the MGS games too, especially the first and last game. The world ends with you,

    • Kobracon

You seem to write really well when drunk XD

You have a good eye for games, friend. Man The Bouncer was so underrated. I still love that game. And GODHAND. Good god that game. There is no high like getting to Level DIE and realizing “Holy shit I’m doing TOO well!” and then feeling immediate dread XD

Also Chaos Legion is pretty damn unique and cool too. Rumble Roses is kinda like the wrestling version of DOA (but sadly doesn’t control as well) but still ‘fun’ in its own way

Edit: Oops missed the question. Hmm….games I would forever love….definitely Okami for one. OH and the entire Prince of Persia Sands of Time trilogy. I have played that trilogy SO many times! And most recent one, Asura’s Wrath. I love that game to death!

  • kiri25

So just finished Attack on Titan and I must say I’m now worried it may be pulling a high school of the dead.

the final episode revealed little prospect of a second season, tho speculation that the reason the second season is being held in abeyance is a lack of manga stock to work with.

Tho if true it could be like high school of the dead leaving us to wonder when we’ll get a second season.

    • TheBlackRabbit

the difference is the manga is actively being worked on, so i don’t think there is much to worry about

    • Nice Boat
      • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Not sure what you’re reading. =/

“After the last episode screened, the staff and cast all implied their intentions and desire to continue the anime in the future. However there has been no green-light given just yet.”

Hopefully it’ll be green-lit soon, though.

    • bloodiOS

Where we at right now, there are enough materials for 13-15 more episodes. So they’re probably going to wait a bit more.

  • shogunknight

For anyone interested in Mighty No.9, theres a poll to pick the design choice for Call, Becks partner

    https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/M9calloutthevote

You can find details in the kickstarter page

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mightyno9/mighty-no-9/posts/611851

Personally my best are F and H
Edit: Beaten XD missed the post below

    • Blizzaja

I think F would be the best design for Call since it compliments Beck’s design, I think H would look good too but if they were both in co-op she’d stand out.

      • Blizzaja

Here’s the short version, Beck looks like Megaman while Call’s H design looks like she’s going to the school dance and not fighting evil robots to save the world.

    • Kobracon

      C looks badass!

  • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

For 6 days straight…. I have been playing Warframe, co-op MMO with Space Ninjas…

Funny story how I got into it actually… I seen the game through the ads while I was surfing the web… Never took interest to it until it was announced for PS4… My interest piqued and was waiting once it’s released on PS4… Sometime later, friends told me that it was good and I was reading this one manga and at the back of the page, the mangaka wrote that he’s playing Warframe…. That, for me, was the final push then I go and immediately download the game and play it… I really got hooked into it even if it is a free to play MMO….

My verdict: Warframe = MMO done right…. If you’re bored and have no games to play, go try it out…. Might hook you the same as I did…

    • Kobracon

HAH even Japan is playing it? Nice. What manga was that btw?

      • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

        I think it was one of those light-hearted oneshots… That’s all I can remember…. Sorry, dood….

        • Kobracon

Ah. Oh well. Musta been pretty recent if he talked about Warframe

    • Elvick

I’m waiting for the PS4 to come out. Been following the development though. Watch all their Q&As about updates and stuff. Developers definitely love making Warframe. Which just makes me more excited to finally play it.

      • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

Good idea to wait since there is no confirmation that you can transfer your account between pc and ps4… but hey, it has cross platform play….

  • Budgiecat

I finally finished Deadly Premonitions Director’s Cut

    http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/3/34367/1389245-00596354_photo_rainy_woods.jpg

    *spoilers*

Wish the director would have added multiple endings or something. I wasn’t quite content with given “choices” towards the end that still lead to the same ending. Reminded me of Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Mass Effect 3 final choices that didn’t really effect their endings…

    • MosquitoLemon

Way of the Samurai was one of the few series that actually had multiple endings and paths based on your choices. Also killing certain NPCs would actually remove them from the game, where Mass Effect would prevent you from hurting characters who had to show up later in a scripted cutscene.

I think developers should just give up on the whole fake choice thing, unless they actually intend to make a coherent story with multiple branches.

    • Kobracon

Wait what the hell? I watched the entire Two Best Friends play of DP Director’s Cut and NEVER saw York look like THAT…

      • https://twitter.com/RyoonZ RyoonZ

It’s early Concept for York, I believed he was called David Young Henning at first and the game was revealed as Rainy Woods. The dev changed his design into what we know as York now because it’s too similar to Twin Peak I believe.

        • Kobracon

          Wow, what a difference.

          • https://twitter.com/RyoonZ RyoonZ

And now they use David Young as a main character of D4 (Xbox One game), lol. The design is different though.

  • Charlie

This forum is probably dead by now, but what the hell! I’ve been recently researching 60’s and 70’s bands such as ELO, The Beatles and The Beach Boys (I’m absolutely hooked now). Over the course of listening to this stunning music, I’ve noticed how much of a nosedive the music industry has taken (it makes me rather depressed). So anyways, what’s your favourite band from the 60’s70’s era?

    • 罪罰

      70s – Joy Division
      60s – Jefferson Airplane

and mind you, every decade has had its nosedive to musical retardation, newer regenerations have their amazing bands as well as their shit bands. No decade is safe of this.

      • Charlie

I agree, it’s just more prominent these days. I dare you to try to find a song released in the 70’s as bad as “Friday” or “Mass Text”.

    • MosquitoLemon

There is still a lot of good music, but not so many people have that classic rock sound anymore (and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it was just a product of its time.

My favorite bands from the 70s would probably be Yes and Queen. There are plenty of others (and lots of one-hit wonders as well), but I’m mostly into soul music and R&B.

      • Charlie

There are a few good classic rock bands today, such as My Morning Jacket. Queen is awesome!

    • almostautumn

Not knocking your taste, but the music you list as the pinnacle prior the nosedive is the music I consider the nosedive; I’m a jazz guy, and all that poppy rock n’roll stuff has nothing on Thelonious Monk, Coletrain, Duke Ellington, etc:

Now I eagerly wait for the classical guy to come and tell me Bethoven and Mozart are the shit and that jazz was the nosedive :P

      • $18114340

screw you, the sound of sticks banging on rocks is THE SHIT.

      • Charlie

LOL that’s your opinion and your free to express it. I like jazz as well, mind you.

    • AdamBoy64

Sweet Talkin’ Woman by ELO is a bit of a classic.
      Good stuff.

      • Charlie

Agreed, I just received the album with that song on it today (Out of the Blue).

    • Charlottes Guardian

The forum is never dead my friend.

      And we’re always watching.

      Always.

      • Charlie

Haha. Thanks for the update, mate!

  • GhostNomad

For any of the PSN users here, is anyone having issues with your friends list? I’ve noticed this for a while now, but the friends online counter at the top right shows 1, but there’s actually three people online right below my name >.> I know it’s not a counter of how many people are playing games since I’ve had occasions when several people were online either playing games or watching Netflix, and PSN said that only 2 people were online <.<

    http://i.imgur.com/a2AXUdW.png

    • LordKaiser

      Could be a lag

    • Azuardo

Yep, I sometimes see the counter being 1 number behind the amount I actually have online. A sign-out resets it, but no idea why it happens. Perhaps lag, like Kaiser said. Odd, though.

    • KingNigma

Happens to me sometimes too and other times no friends would load at all other than my own. Probably because of my internet connection since I’ve been getting sign out errors more frequently which is pretty annoying.

    • Elvick

I forgot that little counter even existed to be honest. So haven’t noticed.

  • Zackasaur

Last call for any interested Gematsuites:

    Here are my gaming IDs:

    PSN ID: Darth_Xehanort (I have a PS3, a Vita, and a pre-ordered PS4)
    Steam: DarthXehanort
XBL (don’t use it much): DarthAnsem (360, no online)
Nintendo ID: Zackasaur (just got my Wii U!)
    3DS Friend Code: 2063-0058-0104

If the PlayStation Network tells you I’m at my friend cap (I’m glad it’s going up to 2000 with the PS4), just let me know! I’ll delete someone who is inactive. It’s no biggie.

    • Blizzaja

2000 is a LOT of friends!

      • Zackasaur

Inorite? Unlike the 100 limit we have now, I’ll never have to worry about surpassing 2,000.

        • Blizzaja

If your trying to find a certain person to invite to a game then it’ll be a pain since you have to scroll down a lot and for very long periods of time.

If it’s anything like how we invite people on PS3 then it will most likely be like that.

          • Zackasaur

Well, the PS4 seems to have a grouping feature, where you can make groups of friends. I could have “FFXIV: ARR Guild,” “Killzone: Shadow Fall Clan,” “Gematsu Friends,” “PS4 Friends,” and “Real Life Friends” as groups, for example. Thus, I can quickly find people based on categories.

Plus, it’s possible that they’ll have some sort of search interface.

            • Blizzaja

That would be nice then, and it’s hard to see it not having a search system. It’s one of the easiest ways to find people with that many friends. It’s basically essential to have it in there.

        • Blizzaja

It’s the same as finding a needle in a haystack, 1 out of 2000.

      • Elvick

        That’s how I feel about 100. :P

        • Blizzaja

xD 100 was a lot when I first found out about it but 2000 is…

    • Azuardo

What online games do you play on PS3?

      • Zackasaur

Well, once it comes out on PS4, I’m planning on getting FFXIV: ARR. In addition to Killzone: Shadow Fall.

On PS3, I play Dust 514, The Last of Us, Uncharted 2/3, and the Rayman Legends challenge levels. I do own lots of other stuff, like Lost Planet 2, Portal 2, Battlefield 3, and Killzone 2.

Oh, and I hope to start Dragon’s Crown soon!

        • Azuardo

Ooo, then I should add you.

I have Dragon’s Crown, so could do some co-op when you get it. I don’t know if you’d be interested in maybe trying Portal 2 co-op some day? I’ve still never actually done that with anyone.

          • Zackasaur

Yeah, you could probably convince me to do some co-op with you! I platted Portal 2 a while ago, but I’m sure I’ve forgotten the solutions by now. And some Dragon’s Crown co-op would be cool. My girlfriend can share the screen, too.

        • GhostNomad

I’ll hop on this. Never actually played Dragon’s Crown online, and I might try out the MP for TLoU at some point :P

Far as next gen, I’ll be getting Battlefield and CoD for sure, might get Killzone, definitely getting The Crew and The Division when those come out. And if anyone’s interested in Watch_Dogs, I’ll be sure to terrorize you with random hacking as often as possible :D

          • Zackasaur

I’ll probably be getting The Division, and I know I’ll get Destiny! There are also good F2P games coming, like Deep Down and Warframe.

… I might have to log out when I play Watch Dogs, though. ô_ô

            • GhostNomad

Destiny’s on my list as well, so I’ll be picking that up. I’m actually pretty hyped for the next gen. So many awesome games either at launch or within a few months of launch! And don’t worry, I’m probably joking about the hacking. Probably :P

              At any rate, Leon50ae.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I would add you on PS3, but i currently don’t have one to add you with. I’m slash789 on PSN.

All right! I’ll send you a request. Do you know when you’ll be back with a PS3/PS4/Vita? At the very least, you’ll be able to use the PlayStation App when the PS4 releases.

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’m really not sure. I hope November at the earliest.

          • Zackasaur

That being said, I love my Vita and recommend it to lots of people.

Has anyone here played Wind Waker HD as of yet?
Or any who have picked up the bundle?

The game’s released over here this Saturday. I’m really looking forward to it.

    • Zackasaur

I have! I got the bundle.

      • AdamBoy64

Great. Got any thoughts on it as of yet?

        • Zackasaur

Yeah! If you like Wind Waker, you’re just going to like this more. The sailing, while still more tedious than it ought to be, is wayyyy better with the sail upgrade. The final quest is still rubbish, but at least they’ve shortened it!

You’re probably more interested in things like how it plays and looks. It’s a big improvement, overall. I contend that they still have a bit too much bloom lighting. The new lighting engine is massively superior overall, but it has a few drawbacks. For example, the improved lighting makes characters sometimes look weird, like 3D dolls not quite fitting into their environments.

Little issues aside, though, this is the definitive way to play Wind Waker.

My Nintendo ID is Zackasaur! Feel free to add me.

          • AdamBoy64

Thanks for the response man. Thanks heaps.

Apologies for all the questions, I’m just wondering about the limited edition console – are you happy with the way your console and controller looks?

            • Zackasaur

Ah, okay! Well, the console is a little disappointing, because it’s just a plain black unit. However, that’s par for the course. With the Wii U, Nintendo do everything they can to minimise the console itself, in favour of the controller.

The controller, as I’m sure you’ve seen, has all sorts of Zelda scripts around it. If you’ve ever seen the Zelda 3DS, it’s a lot like that (albeit without the subtle sparkles in the black). I have the Zelda 3DS and golden remote/nunchuk, so it’s fun for me to have all this stuff as a set. Some people think the added scripts are a bit tacky, but I just think it looks cool! Like I said, your opinion of this is almost guaranteed to mirror your opinion of the Zelda 3DS. They were clearly designed with the same ideas in mind.

Aside from all the scripts around the controller, though, it’s basically a standard Wii U.

              • AdamBoy64

Oh okay, I didn’t realise the console wasn’t decorated in the same manner.

I did like the design of the Zelda 3DS – it’s nice to now the controller design closely mirrors that.

                Thank you for your responses.

Just beaten GTA V a few days ago and damn was that a satisfying ending. So good. Been playing Kingdom Hearts 1 Final Mix, to me it’s the best HD Remaster I’ve ever seen, it could even pass as a PS3 game for me.

And here to welcome a new member of PlayStation Family. Dem OLED are so good, no wonder people getting upset because of new LCD Vita.

    • new_tradition

Oh whoa, I never thought there was such a difference. Well shoot, I don’t plan to get a Vita until later, but knowing what I’m probably going to miss out on, I’m pouty :/

      • Zackasaur

Read my response to Raiu just above! It might cheer you up. c:

    • Budgiecat

Obviously with the cartoon style of Kingdom Hearts, it’s not going to look as dated as a PS2 game aiming for realism. So an HD upgrade will make ihe flaws of a PS2 game stemmed in realism stand out more

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

      Look at the bright side…

The LCD Vita is lighter, cheaper and more refined(bigger buttons) than the OLED one… And it lets you play outside without screen reflection….

      • Zackasaur

It also has a longer battery life!

Plus (and this is where people get touchy), the LCD screen is actually more colour-accurate than the OLED. The OLED is oversaturated, which makes it look extra “vibrant,” but less like how the devs intended it.

For a videophile like me, that LCD Vita is pretty awesome.

        • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

True… LCD uses less power than OLED….

          But… But… I like bright colours…. ;_; *Hugs my OLED Vita*

          • Zackasaur

Yep, the new Vita-2000 has a whole extra hour of game time. That’s pretty nice.

I’ll demonstrate what I mean by colour accuracy, though. I’m going to compare direct-feed shots from Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Rayman Origins with the two Vita versions. The direct-feed shot is exactly how the game should look, according to the developers. (Note: The quality of my direct-feed shots isn’t perfect, but that doesn’t matter. All you really care about here is the colour balance.) Here you go:

            http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/190bph1g822w7jpg/ku-xlarge.jpg

            http://img.gawkerassets.com/img/190bpfi7je465jpg/ku-xlarge.jpg

As you can see, while the OLED is kind of extra vibrant, the reason for that is that it oversaturates the colours. The LCD screen gives a more “true” picture. In an objective sense, that gives the LCD a big one-up over the OLED.

Of course, subjectively, some people don’t care about colour accuracy and find oversaturation really pretty. xD

            • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

You sure it’s not the environment making the shots like that? If it was a really bright environment or a spotlight staring at the Vitas, then it would explain why it looked oversaturated in those shots….

              • Zackasaur

Yes, I’m sure. lol For one, that’s just how OLED is. Plus, I got those shots from a video demonstration of the two, side-by-side, where factors like that don’t come into play. That’s simply how they look when they are in the same conditions.

        • LordKaiser

OLED use more energy if the game display too much white but if the game rarely use white it uses less battery power than regular LCD.

          • Zackasaur

True. But, overall, this works out in the LCD’s favour, by an estimate of an hour on average.

    • LordKaiser

At least with regular LCD your blue will last longer as blue color degrades on OLED fast.

  • Kobracon

So I’m planning to get a 3DS when I get my (first ever!) paycheck sometime this week or the next, and I’ve been sitting here debating whether to get an XL or a normal. Or go for the SMTIV package if I can find it.

    • Zackasaur

A lot of people go for the XL for the bigger screens, and that might be for you. However, I prefer the original, and I’ll explain why in a few notes:

      1. The original 3DS has far superior build quality. The XL is made of cheaper plastics, looks uglier (especially in person), has squishier buttons, and is a bit more prone to breaking. It’s also lacking some fancy aspects, like the glowing 3D indicator. They cut a lot of costs with the XL, resulting in a cheaper product.

      2. Bigger screens may be nice to you, especially if you have poor eyesight. However, the screens are the same resolution. This means that the original has much higher pixel density, resulting in a prettier picture. So, while the XL looks bigger, the original looks better.

      3. The original fits in spaces like pockets far more easily.

      4. Plus, hey, the original is the less expensive option! You can use the money you save to get a game. Might I recommend Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance?

      • Kobracon

I actually already have Project X Zone (bought it to support it XD) So I already have a game in hand, its just the system now. In my country, the original 3DS isn’t THAT much cheaper and the money saved isn’t enough for a game.

From what I’ve seen and read, the XL still sounds pretty good. I don’t particularly have small hands and I hear the original really cuts into your palm after long periods of time. I’m not too worried about screen density yada yada coz I don’t really notice these things.

And about space…meh I never put my portables in my pocket, I either carry them or its in a bag so not much issue there. Also I hear it has a longer battery life.

On the other hand, does knowing that I was quite comfortable with the DS lite help anything?

        • Zackasaur

If you were comfortable with the DS Lite, then you’ll have no problem with the 3DS original. It’s basically the same size, and I’d argue it’s even slightly more comfortable than the Lite was.

          • Kobracon

But from what I’ve read, the original has sharp edges whereas the Lite was nice and rounded. I hear the XL is even smoother.

            • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

For the record, the 3DS XL is fantastic imo. I borrowed my sister’s DS lite several years back to try and play some games, but it gave me hand cramps fairly quickly.

When the 3DS launched, I was interested, but I got to try one at a friend’s and it was more or less the same for me.

I bought the 3DS XL when it was on sale as an impulse buy. I figured if it didn’t work for me, I could return it.

I haven’t had any hand cramps playing my 3DS XL. Of course, this might just be my hands, but I think the comfort level is better with the 3DS XL.

You could always try one or the other and return it if necessary? I hope you find the best choice for you. ^^

              • Kobracon

How bout the larger screen, does the larger screen detriment the games by blowing everything up in anyway?

                • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I really can’t tell, but I haven’t spent tons of time with the original DS lite or 3DS, etc.

It all looks normal to me I suppose. lol

    • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

I have the original 3DS but I’ll try and be neutral here…

The original is smaller and able to fit into your pockets. Since I have small slender hands, it’s perfect for my hands…

The XL lasts longer in terms of Battery life and has bigger screen. The downside to the big screen is that it’s upscaled so you might see pixelated pictures because it has the same resolution as the original…

The XL felt like it was built to last whereas the original feels fragile… I swear I could break my 3DS someday…

      Hope it helps you…

      • Kobracon

Thanks, I hear the XL is made of even cheaper plastic, but then again, I tend to be quite delicate with my machines (don’t rage much either) so durability prolly isn’t an issue with me.

        • http://twitter.com/RaiuLyn Raiu

Yes, it felt like it was made with cheap materials but it also felt durable at the same time when I first hold it…

          • Kobracon

            Hmm…interesting. Thanks ^_^

    • Elvick

I’ve never had any desire to have an XL. I don’t see the point, the resolution is the same, so who cares? I don’t have eye problems, so there’s no benefit to me.

Plus, I like the charging station thingy the regular 3DS comes with. I don’t think the XL has one of those.

    • McPoo

I bought the 3DS on launch, sold it a year later, and now have an XL, so I’ve used them both a fair amount.

I would always recommend the XL, unless you have small hands. As an adult male with fairly average sized hands though, the 3DS is just so uncomfortable. It’s the least comfortable piece of kit I think I’ve ever used. It’s so small, and the positioning of the buttons/circle pad meant I couldn’t play Mario Kart for longer than 15 minutes without getting cramps in my hands. Plus the stylus is in a stupid location for right handed people.

The XL is infinitely more comfortable. I still get cramps after a while, but as everything’s bigger it takes a lot longer. The stylus is better and in a better location for quick use, the screens are bigger, and the only downside is that the speakers sound a bit quiet. The battery life is bigger too, which is a nice bonus. The size isn’t an issue for me as I’ve never needed to carry a handheld in my pocket. If I’m taking it with me, it’s in a case in my bag. If you do want to keep it in your pocket though, you might have a tough time.

You can buy a charging cradle as an extra thing for the XL if you want one, as they are pretty nifty. Far from being an essential though.

    • AdamBoy64

Another opinion weighing in, if you needed one..

I have a 3DS XL. Unfortunately unlike a few others, I never owned the original, so I can’t compare them as well as they can.

The screens on the 3DS XL are pretty amazing. And comparing it to my brothers 3DS Original, the difference is remarkable. It’ll be much easier on the eyes – particularly if you’re into long gaming sessions on a handheld (which, well, I’m not).

A few have mentioned that the bigger screens with the same res would cause pixilation – but I see no evidence of that. It all looks really good.

I don’t carry it around a lot, but it fits in the pocket fine.

Unfortunately, there’s probably nowhere where you could test them out. It would be nice if you could hold them both and see which one you like.

But yeah, for me, the bigger screen size / increased ease of use far outweighs anything else.

      • Kobracon

I interesting. There really is quite a mixed opinion on the XL. Thanks for the input

    • MosquitoLemon

Don’t get an original if you are going to buy new. If you want new, just get the XL. You should be able to find an original very cheap via craigslist… I wouldn’t pay more than $100 for one (I got mine for $50).

      • Kobracon

U got an original 3DS for 50 sing? Daaaayum

        • MosquitoLemon

Yeah, on the internet everyone is like, ‘zomg gamestop rip me off, my old 3DS is worth at least $200!!!’, but in real life, if someone wants to get rid of something, they’ll sell it cheap.

          • Kobracon

Not familiar with Craiglist. Heard of it, but never really used it before. Do they mail to our countries?

            • MosquitoLemon

Craigslist is just a swap sheet for major cities (all over the world). You make a deal and then you meet in person. It’s helpful if you have a big university nearby, Uni kids always have crap they want to sell for quick cash.

              • Kobracon

Ah well then that strikes craiglist off my…..uhm…list.

    WTF is this?!

    http://yakuzafan.com/post/62617991224/sega-has-shut-down-all-official-yakuza-sub-sites

    • Azuardo

This is horrible, if they’re trying to erase Yakuza’s existence in the west.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

This has me a little worried.

    • $18114340

Coupled with the recent Sega of America layoffs and the continued absence of PSO2 in the west, I can only conclude Sega hates everyone who is not in Japan.

  • McPoo

So… is there going to be a Gematsu GTA V Crew?

  • Elvick

Xseed is giving away Valhalla Knights (PSP) for free on PSN, in North America. (no PS+ required)

    https://store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com/#!/en-ca/cid=UP1023-ULUS10230_00-VALHALLAKNLEGACY

Now I can give the series a second shot before VK3 comes out. This makes me kind of what to buy it though, solely because of how cool it is they’re giving away a game for free. That and adding online for the west are things that make me want to support it.

Just stinks that the game itself looks ‘eh’. *shrug*

    • $18114340

I’m downloading it. Free game is free and I consider myself to have a moderately higher than average tolerance for shitty games.

It’s funny, this series gets nothing but criticism from the west, but they keep making ‘em. I’ve never played one. Maybe they’re like Idea Factory in the sense that their games are… acquired taste, to put it mildly.

      • Elvick

I didn’t really put much time into the game I played (the one on the Wii). But I freed up the space to download the PSP one by deleting Soul Sacrifice again.

So, I’ll give that a whirl.

I think the reason I didn’t put much time into it, is because the lack of colors. It’s just so brown and dull to look at.

And from trailers, the new one doesn’t look too much better in that regard.

I want to want it. Guess I’ll see when I download the game.

  • Luna Kazemaru
  • Elvick

So this keeps popping up at various retailers. Bestbuy.com, 365games.co.uk (I use them to import games from Europe) and a few that I can’t remember off the top of my head since they weren’t in English.

Pretty sure a ESRB rating came up for this as well.

If it’s like the console version, I’d want it. I really enjoyed it on PS3 (tried the 3DS demo… didn’t like it). Would probably play it again. But I keep waiting for some kind of firm confirmation. Both have November dates. *shrug*

Dern things that float around forever without confirmation.
