    Better late than never!

  • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

How has everyone’s weekend been? It’s been rather busy for me. Mostly working, but I also had a 10 + hour internet outage. That was awful.

    Happy to be back online.

    • GhostNomad

Too damn long. My superiors decided to throw a bunch of work at me since everyone was going to the beach on Saturday but someone had to stay behind and do a whole lot of paperwork <.< And on top of that, my internet was acting up so I couldn't even have any music to make background noise!

Good to have you back though, Zero :D

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Thanks. That sounds pretty rough. I bet your quite happy to be done with that. ^^

        • GhostNomad

Mixed. On one hand, paperwork isn’t exactly thrilling, so I’m glad that’s done. On another hand, we’re having a few platoon competitions this week, and then a bunch of training and evaluation starting this weekend >.> Knowing what to expect, I’d rather just do more paperwork :D

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I wish you the best of luck. Don’t let things get too stressful!

            • GhostNomad

Much appreciated! Doesn’t really matter though, since it’s my job to just shut up and deal with whatever stress comes my way. Not a whole lot of room for complaining :D That aside, hope your internet doesn’t go down again any time soon! Keep up the awesome work here at Gematsu :P

    • MosquitoLemon

All of my friends who only do PC gaming finally got KOFXIII, so we played a bunch of that. They all suck on account of not realizing that the game has been out on console for a while -_-

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Sounds like fun. Is the PC version improved?

        • MosquitoLemon

Not in any discernible way. The PC version comes with the DLC characters (so that’s a plus).

In theory, the online play should be better than the PS3 version because the netcode is different, but I can’t confirm that because I’ve never played either online.

    • new_tradition

Pretty uneventful. I worked at a UFC event on Saturday, but it wasn’t as busy as we expected (sold out, but the beer stands were the busiest). It was late though. I didn’t get off until after midnight, and I didn’t get home ’til almost 2 am :/

I’m still kind of tired today. Got up at noon, did some groceries, and played a few hours of ToX, but somehow I’m too tired to game, wtf. Plus it’s kind of chilly here now, so that makes me more tired. It’s annoying, I’m not sleepy, but I’m I don’t wanna do more than lie in bed >_>

(And I made some soup for dinner, but it tastes burnt, so now I’m pouty and still hungry, lol)

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Gosh, you were very busy. I know the feeling of being too tired to game. That ‘drained’ feeling. It happens to me often, typically every night after work.

It’s like… Why bother gaming if you won’t enjoy it? It’s frustrating, no doubt.

Burnt soup doesn’t sound very good. /console ^^

        • new_tradition

Haha, thank you. I found some instant noodles, so all is well xD

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

^^ What would we do without instant noodles? lol.

I’ve had several months in the past where that was my dinner like every single night. =P

      • Budgiecat

        The actual fight? In Toronto??

Jones almost lost. That was craaazy

    • Elvick

Boyfriend ditched me to go on a business trip. So I’ll be alone all this week. So it was annoying. He was here for part of the weekend, but the impending abandonment made it bitter sweet. /melodramatic

Otherwise, uneventful. I should probably get back to playing games or catch up on watching my Digimon DVDs.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

At least you had some things to do while he was gone, right? That should make it a bit better I hope.

        Enjoy the games and Digimon.

      • Charlottes Guardian

Digimon DVDs actually sound amazing right now. I’m a little jelly. Not so much jelly that we need to add peanut butter or anything, but definitely enough to spread on a morning biscuit.

      • Budgiecat

        I’m coming over

    • Kobracon

Finished Lollipop Chainsaw for the first time. It was OK. Been splitting my attention if FFXIV alot lately. Started a Miner job and an Armorer job. Been crafting the whole weekend XD

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Nice. I got to play a bit of XIV on Saturday but then my 10 + hour internet outage cut that short.

        • Kobracon

Yeah that musta sucked big time. (are American’s still saying that? I’m never sure…)

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

What? “That sucked?” Sure, I do sometimes. I have no clue what the young kids say these days, but I still say that sometimes.

I feel very old all of the sudden. lol

            • Kobracon

              No, “sucked big time”

              • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I think that just fits along with it. It’s using the word ‘sucks’ to describe something bad mainly. Gosh, this is a really weird conversation. lol

                • Kobracon

I know. I just wanted to mess wit’ya XD

    • Budgiecat

      I caught a cold…

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I’m currently getting over a cold. Sorry you also have to suffer with one.

        • Budgiecat

          thanks

  • Red Makuzawa

I was hoping for a completely new FFXV trailer…..You never get what you wish for from square enix:( At least we got under 10 seconds of new footage. Better than nothing.

    • Red Makuzawa

Well since I have nothing to do. I might as well stay here and chat with people. Also, here’s the 9 seconds of new footage for FFXV: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gCjC7BGhAZA
I might of accidentally added one old scene from the previous trailer but it only takes out 2 seconds of the video. So let’s just say this is 7-8 seconds of new footage.

  • Sundial

What do you guys think about the new Gravity Daze/Rush announcement?

    • GhostNomad

I think I need it localized and in my Vita. Yesterday.

    • Red Makuzawa

I was shocked. At least Sony gave me another game that I was waiting for. The last guardian still hides in the shadows. Hopefully we’re still getting Persona 5. I can’t wait for the announcement. Hopefully sega doesn’t stuff them up.

    • Xaltmas

I still haven’t played the first one. I should probably get on that.

    • MosquitoLemon

Great, usually games like that only get one chance and we never get to see what they could have become.

    • Elvick

      Best announcement.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

      It’s awesome.

  • Tristan Diaz

Any guesses on when we might see the next “Tales of” ?

    • Red Makuzawa

If not jump festa in December, then some time next year:(

      • Tristan Diaz

        Hopefully by Jump Fiesta! :/

  • Xaltmas

    So, how about that TGS?!

    • Tristan Diaz

Besides a few good announcements/demos/previews, I thought it was a little dry this year.

    • Kobracon

      LOL THAT PIC!

All I can hear is Chie going “Huuuuh?”

  • Tac-Mex

    That feel when no girlfriend

    • Azuardo

lol me every day of the week :p

    • GhostNomad

All the girlfriends I’ve ever had ended up just bringing a hell of a lot more stress to my life than necessary. That, and they’d interfere with my game time! Then again, I’m single by choice. Just not my choice!

  • Azuardo

Almost finished Okami HD. Seems to have picked up a bit, now that I’m at the end. After this one’s done, need to try and get through Ni no Kuni and finish up the stories in P4 Arena. So much text in that latter one! Also need to finish hard mode of Dragon’s Crown with my Sorceress. Had some good plays with some Gematsu readers :)

    • Elvick

Are you going to get the platinum in Okami HD?

      • Azuardo

I highly doubt it. If it means replaying the game, then no. I just sorta wanna get some of these games beat right now :)

  • z_merquise

I love that Lily Bergamo pic above!

    @Sal and @zerorpg:disqus
Do you guys got the full pic?

  • Xaltmas

I’ve made it through this entire console generation with an Xbox 360, and only now at the end do I need a PS3. I’d really like to know why ArcSys felt the need to make Chrono Phantasma PS3 exclusive, when every single previous game in the series has been multiplatform.

I’d ask the same of Square Enix with Drakengard 3, but I’m just happy enough that it’s getting made.

    • Azuardo

Can only guess the BlazBlue series has performed better on PS3. Though now’s as good a time as any to get a PS3, tbh. Lots of good exclusives.

    • Luna Kazemaru

because they sold like snail paste on the system and p4u sales where even worst

  • Invisbin

TGS was sort of a let down this year. I’m wondering when both Microsoft and Sony will start announcing their console selling games. There’s still that unannounced Capcom game that they are supposed to be announcing soon, but other than that, TGS had been the biggest let down this year.

    • Elvick

      New Gravity Rush~

That’s all I need to be happy.

      • Invisbin

Oh don’t get me wrong, that was a much needed game lol. Just wish there were more AAA games announced.

        • Elvick

I don’t need “AAA” games. Games are games.

          • Invisbin

I do. Too many of my favorite franchise haven’t gotten games recently. I need!

      • Budgiecat

        nice to have low expectations

        • Elvick

To be honest, I had none.

Well, I expected to see Freedom Wars there, but it wasn’t.

But I wasn’t really hyped to see it. Just thought it made sense to show it there.

          • Budgiecat

That’s kinda weird that game wasn’t there.
Adds to the whole ‘meh’ of the show I guess…

  • rainelee

Am I the only one who was pretty disappointed in TGS this year? I dunno, I was hoping to see maybe like a Grandia from GameArts or Dark Cloud III at the very least because Level 5 knows fans been asking for one. Maybe I was expecting too much. :I

    • MosquitoLemon

There weren’t any real surprises, so it was pretty bland.

    • Elvick

Level-5 hasn’t really done “big” announcements in a long time. So I don’t know why you’d expect Dark Cloud 3. Only franchise they seem to give a hoot about is Inazuma Eleven now. Since Professor Layton is done (though they’ve made some spin-offs of it to milk).

I mean, I know Sony own Dark Cloud. So maybe it’s partly their problem, but sheesh.

      And why would Grandia re-appear?

      • rainelee

Because I can hope. Even if didn’t turn out how I wanted it to. Grandia was my favorite game(s) growing up, I enjoyed the first one immensely.

        • Elvick

I just don’t see the point in hoping for something that has no logical reason to happen.

I mean, I want Wild Arms 6, but I never hope to see it. Since it’s likely never going to happen. I would love for it to be though.

          • rainelee

I guess I’m just an hopeless idiot then. xD

I always do things like this, it’s just how I am. Yeah, I usually always end up wrong but it’s not like I am gonna break down and cry my heart out.

    • Azuardo

I expected absolutely nothing out of TGS and came away happy. It was almost like it never happened. Better to have no expectations, I find.

  • MosquitoLemon

I wasn’t particularly excited by anything at TGS, probably a symptom of way too much information getting spread around ahead of time. I’m looking forward to Akiba’s Trip 2, though I probably won’t get it on release*. My most anticipated game is Ore Shika 2, for once I am jealous of Vita owners!

*Just got a 3DS, and between SMTIV and Style Savvy 2 (which is just the best thing ever), I have exhausted most of my gaming money for the year.

    • Kobracon

What the heck is Style Savvy 2? I’m curious

      • MosquitoLemon

It’s the sequel to Style Savvy 1?

Style Savvy (Wagamama Fashion in Japan) was a DS game where you ran a clothing store. It wasn’t like ‘Conbini Management’ though, all you did was buy different types of clothes and then sell them to people based on their requests. Style Savvy 2 is the 3DS sequel.

        • Kobracon

          And its…..good?

          • MosquitoLemon

It’s in my top 5 games of all time. Do you like buying clothes and dressing up characters?

            • Kobracon

Not necessarily but then again I never thought I’d have fun being a lawyer or a surgeon, so I’ll look it up ^_^

              • MosquitoLemon

Yeah, it’s basically a game for people who like the character customization element of games more than anything else. In part it is casual, but it’s also structured enough that hardcore people can enjoy it (like I think I played the original for like 3 hours a day for a whole year, even though it’s supposed to be a quick 30-minute type of thing).

  • DesmaX

Hm… There a certain ad that only pop up on this website that, instead of just appearing on it’s place, it opens a new tab on my browser.

I don’t want to turn on adblocks on this website, but it’s getting kinda annoying

    • GhostNomad

I’ve disabled Adblock on this website, but I’ve noticed that even with AB running on pretty much every other website, it’s recently started to open ads in new tabs and give me a whole lot of those hover ads that underline some random portion of text on the page I’m viewing and open a little window with irrelevant shit when the cursor is placed on/near them. I don’t know if there’s a technical term for those, but Adblock is no longer blocking ads for me, and I’m not thrilled >.>

      • DesmaX

Yeah, there’s one that makes my cursor to just keep flashing. Really annoying, forces me to close the tab.

But, try to see if there’s any update for it

        • GhostNomad

Already tried. I even uninstalled Chrome, reinstalled it, and got the addon again, just to make sure. No dice. Still keeps giving me those bullshit ads. They’re not a huge deal, but still, ad-free is better!

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Screen cap it next time it happens and e-mail it me (editor [at] gematsu [dot] com). Whatever ad it is, I don’t want it on here if it’s opening new tabs without the user’s permission.

      • DesmaX

Thank you. I sent an e-mail

    • McPoo

I just got one too, opened a pop up to a win an ipad page. Hope I win!

  • Tac-Mex

That feel when the last guardian will never be released

That feel when there will never be a sequel or spirital sequel of The World Ends with You

That feel when Megaman is dead

    • Elvick

That feel when The Last Guardian releases and you recall all those who said it wouldn’t.

      TWEWY2 iOS exclusive~

      Yup.

      • Tac-Mex

Yeah i know that it will be released someday but i wanted a new trailer at this TGS

        • Elvick

I think people need to just stop expecting to see it return at every upcoming event. xP

Only leads to trouble. Just wait and be surprised when it does return.

    • rainelee

      Mighty No. 9. ;)

  • TheBlackRabbit

So yea i wanted to take a minute and say that…well i really appreciate this site, and i hope that this community keeps growing and growing! GO GEMATSU!

    • GhostNomad

This is the only gaming news-related website where I actually come for the news AND the community. Gematsu, I <3 you.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

        Thanks!

      • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

And to you too, señor Ghost!

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Thank You. I really appreciate it!

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

      Thank you, sir Rabbit! =)

  • Invisbin

I really hope capcom announces Dragon’s Dogma 2 or a new Rival School today or tomorrow…I can’t help but get excited waiting for the mystery announcement.

    • Kobracon

RIVAL SCHOOOOOLS!!!! Played that SO much! For some reason, I recall playing the minigames WAY more tahn the actual fighting game XD

      Baseball ftw!

  • Azuardo

Oh, I also bought 999 on DS recently. Done the first few puzzles. Very text-heavy, so gonna be a while before that gets done but need to in prep for Virtue’s Last Reward one day. Anyone here play it?

    • GhostNomad

Played and completed both. I normally value gameplay but the story of those games is just…. Addicting >.> I was putting VLR off for a while, then one night while waiting at the airport I figured I’d play it for a little bit out of curiosity…. I was going on a four-day vacation to Florida with a few of my Ranger buddies, ended up spending an unholy amount of time playing games instead <.<

Needless to say, I love 'em :D

      • Azuardo

That’s awesome. I’ve heard nothing but great things really, so I just had to do it. The great thing about games is that they can be these incredible stories, too… even if it isn’t all about gameplay. I mean, I don’t read books, so it just being in game form is a way to get me to read stories I might never have if it WAS a book. You know what I mean?

Same way I am absolutely in favour of so-called “interactive movie” games. I think some are unfairly labelled as such, but the beauty of games is that, yes, you can have games all about the gameplay, and they will be what games will always be about, but you can also have these massive, well-acted, movie-like games, too.

The great thing about games is having all these different types of it. Something for everyone :)

        • Invisbin

Really wished this series was in a lot more hands. Ducking love it

  • Kobracon

So I sat down and finished Lollipop Chainsaw for the first time in one day and I gotta say…..its OK. I didn’t know what I was expecting but in the end…it was OK. The story is for the Evulz and the characters are fun and it feels like an awesome American Cartoon (Voice of Bubbles helps alot XD)

But the combat….oh geez does it feel weird. It gives a TERRIBLE first impression with moves that SHOULD have been unlocked at the start to even FEEL like solid combat. After a while, you get used to setting up zombies for Sparkle Hunting and as you buy more moves, the combat gets decent. Finally when you get the Holy Chainsaw combo, Sparkle Hunting becomes a goddamn cakewalk.

It is sadly a game you don’t come for the gameplay, which admittedly I didn’t come for. I came for the smoking hot cheerleader with a chainsaw and wacky dialogue and was not disappointed, sadly I just don’t see myself picking this up again and going through the higher difficulties. I just don’t have the drive like Bayonetta and MGR:R gave me to go through all the difficulties.

What did you guys think of it?

P.S. Why isn’t anyone talking more about Puppateer >:( its awesome.

    • Azuardo

Pretty much the same thoughts as me. Found it repetitive and there was a dumbass mini-game where you move up a blocky maze thing, if I remember right. But the script was brilliant, as was the music. But I think one of the plus points was it didn’t overstay its welcome. It lasted JUST about long enough that I didn’t think “right, fuck this game now, it’s too tedious.” The dialogue helped a lot, though.

      • Kobracon

Oh god the minigames…..what a mixed bag….the Combine one was awful…

        • Azuardo

Oh god yeah, I remember that now that you mentioned it lol.

    • GhostNomad

That’s pretty much my take on Lollipop Chainsaw. It was fun the first time around but then it just became tedious. I still watched a cutscene or two for the lulz but that’s about it. It just didn’t satisfy my HnS need like MGR and oldschool DMC >.>

      • Kobracon

Going in thinking it would be like that was definitely the wrong mindset. What I got instead was a arcade style score attack zombie killing game.

        • GhostNomad

I went in thinking “let’s see how many pervy moments Suda put in this time”. That was honestly my only driving force other than my girlfriend at the time who insisted I play it. Like I said before, it was actually fun the first time around, but I had zero motivation to play it again aside from grinding for tokens to get those mostly-naked outfits. Yeah I’m a pervert. What up >.>

          • Kobracon

HAH! Thats basically the whole reason I was interested in the first place XD

    • Charlie

Obviously I’m in the minority because I absolutely love Lollipop Chainsaw. It was hilarious, it had great dialogue and voice acting, re-playability, an awesomely nostalgic soundtrack (I had “Spin Me Right Round” on repeat lolz) and had an addictive combat system once you get the hang of it. It is my favourite Suda game to date and I love the fact that James Gunn was heavily involved with the project.

      • Kobracon

Well I didn’t say I hated it either. I enjoyed my time with it, it was a fun ride, but the gameplay just felt disjointed. It says something about a combat system taht can feel repetitive DESPITE there not even being that many fights to begin with. The rest were minigames.

I loved everything but the combat sadly. After unlocking the Holy Chainsaw combo, every other move just felt redundant…

        • Charlie

Fair enough, it isn’t a game for everyone.

        • almostautumn

Well that was the biggest problem with it. I mean, even after you could unlock the combos that finally made the combat fun— the truth was Drop-Kicking an enemy into stun and then 1-shotting them was the most effective way to play the entire game, and so even when those slick combos are unlocked it’s still slower than the others. I recognize they build up combo/rewards, but even then what’s the point of that other than, say, trophies?
It wasn’t a bad game; I didn’t hate it or anything like many do. But it was a shame that it was yet another Suda51 game that had an exploitable and/or minimal degree of skillful gameplay.

          • Kobracon

I stopped using the dropkick when I realised the game was more about arcade-y score busting then just “killing them all” I found the dropkick pushed one too far away when I needed at least three to be groggy/weak and grouped up for Sparkle Hunting to beat scores.

it gets more fun when try to reach the score, but the Holy Chainsaw combo really makes that easy….

  • bloodiOS

Man, another intense episode of Shingeki no Kyojin this week. Next week will be the last, so I wonder how epic it will end. Anyway, I have been thinking… episode 25th will probably be around the end of the 8th volume, so it makes me wonder how they are going to handle the second season? Are they going for another 8 volumes? Because there are only 12 volumes right now and to wait for another 4, heck, we are going to be waiting for a long time… I seriously can’t wait to see chapter 49 being adapted into anime though, because man, Erwin was so epic in that chapter, the guy sure is one hell of a leader. On a side note, I was browsing for some of the series’ doujins the other days and was surprised to find an astounding amount of yaoi ones (and some lacklustre NTR ones with a bit of vanilla.) It was rather amusing.

Anyway, we have some really good stares this week (and a Berserk moment? *LOL*):

    • Revorse

Mikasa’s got them crazy eyes. This past episode it was mostly original right? I mean, I don’t recall much of that happening in the manga.

      • bloodiOS

Mikasa got beat several times (WTF?! I do not agree with this part), Hange’s crazy moment and Eren got buried is pure filler BS but overall pretty faithful.

    • GhostNomad

      Most anime I’ve seen usually has 26 episodes, doesn’t it? To be fair I’ve seen 11, 12, 13, 22, 24, 25, and 26-episode seasons, so…. Guess my assumption doesn’t hold a lot of water :D

Far as the content, I hope they don’t try to fuck it up with some weird moment of ‘closure’ that doesn’t leave a lot of room for a followup. Erwin gave absolutely zero fucks in 49, and I need 50 to see how the shit goes down. Mother. Fucking. Cliffhangers!

On your side note, some kinky art of Mikasa is actually the reason I even got into SnK in the first place so I’m familiar with most of the Rule34 out there >.>….. And there’s a LOT of yaoi, that’s for damn sure <.< Levi is a big hit with the fangirls apparently.

      • bloodiOS

If they make 50 (or maybe 51) the end of the second season, I would not disagree at all. It was so epic!

        • GhostNomad

Likewise. That would be the most hype season ending I could imagine, and it would pretty much make me want to punch fools until season three starts. There’s very few things that can get my blood going like SnK, and I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing :D

          • bloodiOS

Pretty bad I think, I almost went out to punch my cousin (female) after seeing some particular moments of Eren.

            • GhostNomad

Agreed, it can’t be healthy, but fuck it. IT’S TOO GOOD NOT TO BE EXCITED AND EMOTIONALLY INVESTED. That first episode gave me the feels like a son of a bitch though >.>

And when I was reading through the manga, when Mikasa lost her shit after the conversation with Armin (when she ran out of fuel and then got saved by you know who), I got so damn hyped from all the rage that I ended up going out to jog with full gear for a couple of hours in the middle of the night <.<

              • bloodiOS

I remember one time bringing my laptop to the toilet with me and wasn’t able to leave or actually “accomplish” anything until the episode was done.

                • GhostNomad

Been there >.> Several times, in fact. With no distractions, I’m in and out in seconds, but if I bring my laptop or my Vita…. I get so distracted that my ass starts hurting from the toilet seat, to say the least :D

    • LordKaiser

C’mon stop spoiling! There are people here who are not following the subs!

      • bloodiOS

Ah, but there really isn’t any spoiler here. I honestly don’t think anyone would be able to make head or tail from images I posted or from the vague description of chapter 49.

        • LordKaiser

Don’t underestimate. 3 screenshots is more than enough for many of us to predict everything that will happen. But I’m glad this anime is doing so well story-wise.

          • bloodiOS

Even then, they’re already hidden and aren’t visible unless someone clicks on the “show more” option. I’ll add in a warning for spoiler but I can’t help if folks intend on spoiling themselves.

            • LordKaiser

LOL no problem I can catch up in just 2 days.

  • bloodiOS

Man, data transferring between PS3s is just downright frustrating as it took forever to get done. I had to back up the Super Slim’s data before swapping its HDD with the Phat’s Momentus XT, currently going through a full format, and will eventually get to restoring the data…

    • GhostNomad

Have fun with syncing your trophies too when you actually get around to doing that. I’m hardly as dedicated as some other people out there (only have maybe around 1400 trophies), and that takes… Hours to sync on a fresh PS3 >.> Don’t even want to imagine what all the lvl 20+ people out there have to suffer through :D

On that note. GIVE ME YOUR PSN, ANNIE.

      • bloodiOS

I use the same handle everywhere. Also, I have restored my PS3 three times prior to this, so I know full well how long it takes to fully sync the trophy (not including several retries.)

        • GhostNomad

My original BC PS3 is such a dick tease. I just fixed it a few days ago and when I tried to sync my account, it kept getting up to around 50% and then giving me an error >.> Then again, maybe it’s mad that I replaced it with a Superslim and decided to unleash its full wrath on me once more <.<

Fun fact, its fan would go apeshit after anywhere from a few minutes to an hour of game time, so I nicknamed my PS3 Asura (from Asura's Wrath)… Because of…. Y'know….. Its wrath.

          • bloodiOS

Yeah, the Phat models love that Buffalo In Pain act. Syncing really is a horrendous pain in the rear, I usually do it late at night, to lessen the potential interferences.

            • GhostNomad

On that note, is it just me or has PSN been acting up lately? When I switched to the Superslim, it was working fine and downloading at (relatively) awesome speeds. Now it takes me six fucking hours to download a 4GB game. I don’t know if it’s PSN being difficult with me because I haven’t bought anything from it in a while or my Superslim is acting up, and I haven’t had a chance to test that theory with my BC PS3 >.>

              • bloodiOS

Wait, which one do you use to download, BC or SL?

                • GhostNomad

I use my Superslim primarily, so everything goes on there now. However, back when I was using my BC, I’d get 10GB games downloaded in minimal time.

Thing is, when I do the connection test on the PS3, it gives me the same Down/Up speeds I’m getting on my PC (which is normal and downloads just fine for the most part unless my internet decides to act up). I’ve tested both during the same time, and while my PC downloaded a 4GB file in about 30 minutes, my PS3 was still downloading a 1GB demo <.<

                  • bloodiOS

                    Wired or Wireless?

                    • GhostNomad

Wired. Concrete walls make Wireless a very bad choice (normal DL speed is around 30Mbps, if I go wireless it drops to 1.6 on a good day).

                    • bloodiOS

Hmm… one would think the SL would be more efficient than the BC model but… hmm…

                    • GhostNomad

That’s what I figured. I’m about to hook up my BC to check the downloads on that, but I have a feeling it won’t make much of a difference and might just be PSN in my area. Probably one of their local servers decided that I’ve been watching too much Netflix instead of playing games and are punishing me for it :D

                    • bloodiOS

Well, really can’t help you since as far as I remember, it always took forever to download a game or demo from PSN, so yeah…

                    • GhostNomad

All I know is that when I went back home over the holidays last year (still used my BC back then), I used my best friend’s internet and it downloaded with glorious speeds. Now, not so much. Then again, my internet on post here isn’t anything to write home about >.>

Just figured I’d ask to see if the problem was my hardware/internet or someone else was also in the same boat. I’m the only one with a PS3 here so I couldn’t exactly ask any of my buddies.

      • Willgaea

I’m about half that with 661 trophies. It took me about an hour to full sync when I had to completely wipe my ps3’s data.

  • Rikimaru

That was my first TGS(didn’t actually go jut watched the live streams) and that was a major disappointment. I wish there were news about Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 3, Freedom Wars, Persona 5???, and other beautiful games. Please tell me next year will be better. Nevertheless it was ok.

Anyways how are you going doing?

    • GhostNomad

Consider that a life lesson. If you keep your expectations low, you can’t be disappointed! :D

Also, your name >.>…. I really want to play Tenchu again <.<

      • MosquitoLemon

If you have a Vita, get Shinobido 2 – it’s a title by the original Tenchu team, created as what they had wanted Tenchu to be all along.

    • Willgaea

On the bright side you’ll save more money now :P. I’m doing great by the way. How bout you?

    • Zackasaur

I feel like TGS has gone a bit downhill the past few years. I still love it, as it brings some announcements, trailers, and gameplay for me every year. But it has definitely diminished in importance for the bigger companies. There is lots of good niche stuff to be found at TGS, but companies like Square Enix and Konami are more interested in E3 overall. TGS doesn’t have the world presence that E3 and even Gamescom have, partially because of language.

The highlight of TGS history, for me, was when they announced Birth by Sleep, 358/2 Days, and Coded at the same event. <3 Nowadays, though, we see Dream Drop Distance and KHIII being announced first in the west.

  • Charlottes Guardian

What ever happened to the Hideaki Itsuno game announcement today? :( I was really hoping for a dragons dogma 2 reveal but no news came out D:

    • PrinceHeir

there was supposed to be an announcement O__O

      want Dragons Dogma 2!!

  • Willgaea

Whats every ones wish for the next consoles. It can be from hardware, software. Just about any idea that you would like to see implemented into a franchise, or game mechanic.

It would completely blow my mind if all companies said bye bye to load screens. Think of all the monsters we could slay, or the princesses we could save.

    • GhostNomad

This doesn’t really count as much of a wish but I was listening to a Watch_Dogs podcast where the audio team was being interviewed. Apparently with the increased RAM, they have the ability to put in a hell of a lot more audio, and it’s made so that if you hack someone’s phone and hear their conversation, that audio will NEVER be heard again for the rest of that individual playthrough. You will no longer hear the same conversations being recycled, and considering the size of the game world, that’s pretty fucking impressive.

      • Willgaea

        That’s pretty intense.

      • Omega_Shiro

Shit I thought that would be the case but just how they are doing the same thing with randomly generated crimes to.

    • bloodiOS

Not much more to be wished for the coming consoles but for the ninth generation of consoles, I’m expecting all games to at LEAST be rendered at 4K@60fps. That and extensive support for H.265.

    • Zackasaur

Kingdom Hearts III, Final Fantasy XV, and The Last Guardian are my wishes come true. :P

      • Budgiecat

        No open galaxy Gamera game?

    • Elvick

I just want no jaggies. They annoy me.

AA the hell outta them games.

    • Gigus

Custom themed ps4s available to all regions.

    • MosquitoLemon

The industry needs to recover from the horrible pit its got itself into – Rush games out before they are done, just for the sake of meeting critical release dates (pre-summer, summer, black friday, pre-holiday, holiday, post-holiday -_-), and expect people to praise them when a patch is finally released.

People loooove and demand that consoles be online, yet between lazy/rushed development and DLC, it is one of the worst things to come to gaming in forever.

  • AnimusVox

    Nice link image choice *u*

  • Invisbin

So I went checking around, and Capcom was supposed to make that announcement two days ago according to the TGS schedule Gematsu had. What game did they announce?

    • Nice Boat

      …A mobile phone game.

  • Locksus

Eh, this yea’rs TGS was slightly disappointing. Only slightly, though, because I had next to no expectations :p
I just watched every episode of that’s aired of Watamote. Pretty funny, even though one of the most cringeworthy shows there are :p

  • DrForbidden

Some new figures up for pre-order now.

Who’s the girl on the top picture? Just curious

  • cookiewaffle

The last couple of weeks I have been slowly making progress for the platinum in Playstation all-stars… damn arcade modes take forever.
just need to finish 2 more..
I also need the trophy where you have to play a versus match with an online player.. problem is, none of my friends have this game and are playing GTA5 anyway…
so anybody want to help me out? please? :)

    • Gigus

Go to ps3trophies.com forums and I’m pretty sure fellow trophy hunters will help you out there.

  • Omega_Shiro

So…who’s going to be broke this 2013 and 2014 with these amazing JRPGs and other games?

    • Gigus

      I’ve been broke since summer.

  • Kobracon

Puppateeeeeeeer! I am disappoint that no one is talking about it!

    • Elvick

      It’s a platforming masterpiece.

Playing it currently. On Act 6.

      • Kobracon

Thank God! I’ve never mashed so hard in a platformer before!

        • Elvick

Only thing that bums me out, is when I hit an exit before dialog ends and it cuts it off. Or I trigger new dialog before the old dialog was over, so miss it.

It’s so interesting that I don’t want to miss any of it. ):

          • Kobracon

HAH yeah! but I love the subtle humor as well. Like in ANY scene, just watching Kutaro with his rampant ADD muck around while serious talk is happening is just hilarious XD

  • http://twitter.com/M_Demolish Demolish

this year TGS 2013 was so disappoint, that my opinion.

  • Budgiecat

When’s dat Captain Harlock movie come to Blu Ray?

    • Omega_Shiro

I really want to see it!! also the Gatchaman movie.

      • Budgiecat

Yeah!! And the CGI Saint Seiya movie!

        • Omega_Shiro

Oh these a Saint Seiya CGI movie…HOW DID I MISS IT!!! I keep upto date when is it out??

  • McPoo

Its been an excellent year for gaming, I reckon. Do you think he general GotY has already been released or is it still to come?

Personally I think it’ll either be Bioshock Infinite, The Last of Us or GTA V. All them deserve it

Honourable mentions go to State of Decay, Injustice and Lego City :)

    • Locksus

I haven’t played many games this year, actually. In terms of how much fun I’ve had with a game so far, I’d have to say Fire Emblem.

We’ll see when Pokemon X and Y come out and when I get the time to play GTA

      • McPoo

I want Fire Emblem, I can’t really afford it right now though, and I’m focusing on console games instead of handheld. It does look like good fun though.

    • Kobracon

      PUPPATEEEEER!!!!

      • Locksus

yeah, Puppeteer oozes charm from what I’ve seen

        • Kobracon

          And its REALLY fun too

      • Elvick

Best platformer for me. Sorry Rayman~

    • Azuardo

The Last of Us was the most incredible game for me. Somehow, I think the multiplatform GTAV will pip it in most polls, though.

What other potential GOTYs are there yet to release? AC4: Black Flag? Beyond: Two Souls?

I reckon it’ll be between the ones you said in the end: TLOU, GTAV and BioShock Infinite.

      • McPoo

Watch_Dogs could be promising. The second series of The Walking Dead too, which won plenty of awards last year. I’m sure there must be a couple more things, nothing strikes me as coming close to those other three though.

        • Azuardo

Good shout. Forgot about those two. I totally forgot about TWD2 because I thought it was coming in the summer-ish, and I haven’t heard anything for ages. But glad if it does come this year, as planned.

          • McPoo

Yeah same, I loved the first set of episodes, was probably my GOTY choice last year :)

Apart from those, the run up to Christmas feels a bit limp for me. Stuff like AC and Batman I’ll buy, but probably not on release and I’m certainly not too hyped for them. They just feel expected. Other than the new console launch games, which I won’t be playing, there’s not much that really excites me for a while >.<

            • Azuardo

Yeah, GTAV felt like the last real ‘huge’ title for the year, for me. Though you’re right that Watch Dogs probably fits that mold, as well. But apart from that, I don’t think there’s really anything else that’ll likely challenge GTAV, TLOU and Bio.

              • McPoo

I’m hoping the awards aren’t dominated by them though, I’d definitely like to see State of Decay win an award or two, as it really was a fantastic game, and probably the best zombie game I’ve played since Left 4 Dead.

I just remembered another game I’m looking forward to – Marvel Lego Super Heroes :p I doubt that’ll be winning any major awards, but I think Lego Batman 2 scooped a couple of awards in the kids game category. If it’s as fun as that was, then I’ll be happy :)

                • Azuardo

Ah, Xbox exclusive? Guess I won’t be able to try that one.

Would be nice for some games not to be overlooked. Ni no Kuni’s graphics were wonderful, so I hope that’s awarded.

                  • McPoo

Yeah, it’s just come to PC too, as an early build. It’s brilliant though, a proper zombie apocalypse survival game.

I forgot about Ni No Kuni. It’s the first JRPG since the PS2 that’s really had me interested, so I’d like to see it get some recognition.

    • Elvick

Nothing will top The Last of Us for me. I have no doubt about that. Definitely my GOTY.

  • Gigus

Crap, I keep forgetting to post my kh fan art that I was supposed to enter in Zero’s contest. I’ll post it once I finish it and find the time. Hopefully in the next open forum.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

      Sounds good. =)

  • DesmaX

And here’s the Steam announcement for today:

    http://store.steampowered.com/livingroom/SteamOS/

  • LordKaiser

1rst of all a minute of silence to the best president Nintendo had in Japan
Hiroshi Yamauchi, may his soul rest in peace. It happened a week ago but didn’t had the opportunity to post it.

Now in PSO2 (Click contains spoilers)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5Cv4YREeO0

More new stuff coming to PSO2 in October but in Japan. Super Hard, New infections, new rare monsters, new extreme quest and new story matter board.

    Things to Know so far:

Braver is the best class for newbies as it also unblocks all 3 paragon classes commendations. Also is very balanced and the most easy to multyclass but sadly if you plan to multi-class you should leave some skills as points are not enough, leave weak stance if you get average stance ans you can’t use them at the same time….

Here is a page with the skill simulator so you can make your builds in advance http://ryuhiroshi.funpic.de/pso2/index.php

Also here is a character creation demo so you can play with it until PSO2 arrives in the west:

    http://pso2.jp/benchmark/download/

    enjoy!

    • Willgaea

The guys down at dorkly made a comic on your header. Hope you enjoy it.
      http://www.dorkly.com/comic/54118/the-spirit-of-hiroshi-yamauchi

    • Locksus

I was really taken by surprise when I heard of his passing. Really sad news indeed and I was a little disappointed that Gematsu didn’t write an articles about it. Yamauchi was the guy who literally saved gaming after the crash of ’83 and transformed Nintendo from a card-making company into a multi-national gaming giant.

I respect this man a lot.

      • Willgaea

Cut them some slack they basically just went through black friday with TGS :P

      • LordKaiser

I agree as he was present during the golden age of Nintendo. The NES and SNES for me where the best consoles of the time.

Great games we had when he was in power.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I agree. I think we should have made a post. I tried to contact Sal about it, but we were both busy. We just never got into contact in time.

        • Locksus

Yeah, it’s no biggie (well, it’s quite big :p). I was just wondering, is all.

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I know Sal typically covers that type of stuff. I just agree it was a shame Gematsu missed covering it.

        • LordKaiser

Don’t worry I understand. He practically died just before the TGS. It was easy to miss the story.

    • Kobracon

      Oh no D:

      Rest in Peace Yamauchi-san

  • bloodiOS

Hmm… There seems to be quite a humongous gap between the 2nd and 3rd place…

    • Locksus

Oh wow, some people have definitely been active. Not a bad thing, though :P

      I should be, too.

      • bloodiOS

Solomon_Kano is actually pretty active. The guy got over 30K of comments on SiliconEra.

        • Locksus

          Well, THAT’S impressive.
          Talk about being invested!

        • $18114340

I’m pretty sure he’s a mod there. But he posts a lot on Siliconera whether he’s a mod or not. Part of it is they just have a lot of news worth talking about. Their total number of stories take up a significant fraction of my daily RSS browsing.

          • bloodiOS

Yeah, he already has a lot of comments prior to being promoted to a mod.

          • Azuardo

Eh, I used to browse Siliconera, but I dislike it now because they literally post spoilers in their news titles and captions on the front page all the time. Stopped going there and use Gematsu as my main now. All you need is “New -Game Title- trailer” and everyone’s happy.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I would post more if I wasn’t so busy reading all of the comments. Sometimes, I get done reading all the comments posted after work, and I just have to stop and move away from the PC for my own good.

It’s not a race for me. I hope everyone passes me up in post count. ^^

      • bloodiOS

I actually just found out about the feature today. I thought it was amusing so I posted it =)

        • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

I’m glad you posted it, didn’t even know I was in the top 10. Sadly Zero, I won’t be passing you anytime soon. I strive to more engage in discussion or healthy debate, versus expressing my opinion or desires. Since I feel I haven’t done as much of the former I’ve opted to just up vote similar sentiments.

          • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Right below the comment bar, you see My Disqus and to the left Community. Just click the community tab and it shows the top commenters on the right side.

I understand that process of posting. I have a similar approach sometimes. Often, I’m just too busy or tired to post my thoughts in each topic.

Lots of my comments are from the open forum. I also point to our live comment threads for events. Like e3, gamescom, and TGS. (That one sony e3 thread has like 700+ comments!)

I know I typically have 20 or more comments in those threads. I also try and stay pretty active in the open forum each week.

That’s how my post count is so high. Combined with how long I’ve been posting comments on Gematsu. My comments go back to the scrawl days and beyond. =)

      • TheBlackRabbit

Zero i’m gonna pass your mark this year, just you wait! :D

        • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

Go for it! I hope you do. =)

    • Elvick

God, I’ve made that many already? D:

    • LordKaiser

Lol I don’t ebven know how did I made to the list. I post the same quantity as on any forum and i hardly make threads.

  • Locksus

How has everyone been? I’ve been pretty damn busy with exams and all that, but luckily, I have my last exam on Wednesday. Unfortunately it’s a math exam and it’s by far my weakest subject.

Looking forward to being able to spend time playing games again. I’m kind of on the fence about whether I should buy GTA V on console or wait for the inevitable PC version.

I’m most likely going to give FF XIV a try, too.

    • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I hope you enjoy XIV! Best of luck on the exam.

    • TheBlackRabbit

i hate exams…i have been getting smashed by them left and right….dang college! Go for FFIV!

  • almostautumn

So I finally bit the bullet and ordered 7th Dragon 2020-II. Just been wanting to try this series out for so long and was able to find 20-II for real cheap.
Gotta say; it seems I might be in the clear Language-Barrier wise. The map supports a Token for where you need to go, and even the sub-quests have markers on the map also. Combat seems devilishly simple, so much so that I know utilizing all of the classes is eventually going to become mandatory, but it’s certainly playable.
Another game, also, that makes extensive use of Katakana. Items and some skills utilize it (and even some english as well), so if you can read that there isn’t so much of a “blindness” to the whole thing.

Dunno if I will hit an LB-wall, but overall I’m really happy. I’d thought this would be like Akiba’Strip, where I hit a language-wall within the first half-hour. But this is nice.

Nice, did they fix her skin color yet?

        A long time ago ;)

    • bloodiOS

Hopefully it’ll be 200% funded by the time the campaign ends.

    • Kobracon

Awesome! Just downloaded Risky’s Revenge Full for the iPad. Haven’t played it yet though

    • http://www.psvitadirect.com/ Kurisu Makise

I’m worried about the stretch goals, the speed is nowhere near Mighty No.9 but being funded is great. Still a bit of time left too. I should probably start thinking of what to draw, so I don’t embarras gematsu when it’s released.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I don’t think it will hit very many stretch goals. It’s a shame, but at the very least it will be made.

If they make enough money, they might be able to add more content in the future.

    • LordKaiser

      Nice! it was saved!

    • Elvick

I knew it would be. Shame it’s going so slow though, the stretch goals would be nice to meet.

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

        Agreed.

Currently wanting this project to reach £15,000, thinking it might be interesting:

Whatever it is, I feel compelled to fund and play it >.>….

        For the plot, of course.

        Mmm, plot.

        • Kobracon

Mmmm love those pair of plots….I mean what?

      • bloodiOS

It will be H if reached £15,000

        • Kobracon

…Judging from the pic, how can it NOT be if it doesn’t reach the goal? They just undress to underwear level and stop?

Edit: Ah, after reading the actual page, I get it now :P

    • Xaltmas

I can’t imagine it will hold a candle to Katawa Shoujo.

      • bloodiOS

I can’t imagine you seriously comparing this to Katawa Shoujo.

          Why?

Has anyone had the chance to try the Oculus Rift?

I teach Photoshop at a university and some of my students are working with the Rift in their videogame programming class. I put on the headset for exploring a labyrinth done in Unity.

My thoughts so far: It is immersive alright, as the perceived image size is pretty big. But this causes pixel magnification too. The gyroscopic-kind motion awareness is a feature that needs a very delicate programming in order for the user not to feel dizzy when turning their head around. I think this kind of device would be more suitable for games that simulate piloting things (cars, planes, giant robots and so on) and for VR scenery sightseeing (4th person RPGs with intricate environments) than for controlling a First-Person character.

What’s the consensus on Demon’s Souls? Got it with PS Plus, and I’ve heard it’s great but is also really hard. I’ll be honest: I don’t have the time for truly difficult games these days, so is it really that tough, or is there a way I can be cheap and still get through it? I’ll probably give it a go either way, but I just don’t want the difficulty to stop me playing it.

    • GhostNomad

The difficulty is in the fact that anything and everything can and WILL kill you. The terrain can be challenging to navigate (one wrong move and you’ll probably fall to your death), the enemies are plentiful, and if you die, they all respawn if I recall. That game will probably kick your ass at first, but if you stick with it and figure out how to use the different weapons/spells, and you figure out the enemies and how to defeat them, you’ll have overcome the most difficult part.

There’s also a very awesome wiki with all the information you could ever need, but my suggestion is only use it for boss strategies if those bosses are just mercilessly kicking your ass all over the place and you have absolutely no idea how to fight them. Using the wiki to know everything in advance is taking the fun out of it!

Also, another piece of advice…. Don’t get too attached to your souls. As a beginner, I went through hell to grind close to 50,000 souls, died, went to pick them up from where I died, died on the way so those souls were lost forever, and I was heartbroken. Then I continued playing the game and realized 50,000 souls were chump change >.>

      • Azuardo

Thanks for the reply :) lol it sounds like I might not have the patience for it XD I’ll definitely give it a go, though, and see how it goes. Notes taken on board :D

        • GhostNomad

Few years back, my friend from Cali hyped me up for the game, constantly saying how awesome it is and such, so I figured I’d pick it up.

When I started playing it, my first thought was “Oh cool, so I’m this badass who’s about to slice up everything in his way! Come at me bro!” and then I died. So I figured alright, screw it. I just need to get stronger. Come at me bros! And I ran into the first level, and I started cutting up the trash enemies just sitting around, and one of them killed me. So I tried it again and I got a little farther…. And an enemy set me on fire…. When I fought past that enemy next time, a rolling boulder killed me >.>….. And then the enemy who pushed that boulder <.<…. And then the enemy who had that enemy's back. And then I sold the game.

It was definitely a challenge I wasn't ready for :P

          • Azuardo

Flipping hell lol. At least I know what I’m letting myself in for haha. I shall report back with my experience and whether it has been deleted from my HDD or not :p Some Dragon’s Crown is in order first :)

            • GhostNomad

I still need to finish my Amazon playthrough >.>….. But Kingdom Hearts HD came out……. <.<

              • Azuardo

lol I’m not sure I’ll be coming back to Demon’s Souls. Died on the tutorial boss and got sent to Nexus, but I just don’t know if this is for me. I might try to play a bit more, but yeah, I think this does require a lot of patience, and I’m not sure I have that right now.

                • GhostNomad

Actually it’s safe to say that 99.9% of people died on the tutorial boss the first time around. It’s possible to beat him, but you have to either be a gaming pro, or just very familiar with the game :P

So don’t worry, the Nexus is your ultimate destination, so the game starts from there. However, I do understand if you just don’t have the patience for it. God knows I’ve been in that position several times :D

    • MosquitoLemon

It’s pretty fun if you like this style of game. If you go very slowly and don’t try to be brave you’ll find the game easy. If you try to rush through everything, you’ll probably find it hard.

So in essence, the fact that you don’t have time to play the game will cause you to rush, and rushing will cause you to lose. I played it slow for a good 10 hours, and then gave up because I didn’t have time to take things at an easy pace.

Mighty No.9 reached another stretch goal.
Challenge mode. That sounds like it’ll add some lastability to the game.

With a week left, wonder how many more goals they’ll reach.
That $3.3 mil seems a bit out of sight.

I kind of want it to be a dream because there’s that incredibly slight hope Mal is still alive, but then I want it to be real so Cobb can move on with his life :(

      • http://twitter.com/kazumalynx Zero

I believe it is one of those endings that is up to the viewer. You have to decide. It’s both frustrating and brilliant all mixed together.

  • Azuardo

Played the Beyond: Two Souls demo. I can see this is not going to be for everyone. It’s got much of the control style from Heavy Rain in there for interacting with things, which is probably going to be hit and miss with people. But the actual premise and storyline already gives off an emotionally impacting one. I’ll definitely get it eventually.

PSA to all FF14 ps3 players if psn goes down for maintenance regardless if you are still signed in you can’t play the game

Did anyone here pick up the Wind Waker HD Console Bundle?
If so, I’d be interested to hear your thoughts on it – and of the game.
