New Idolmaster Producer Game

A new Idolmaster producer game is in development for PlayStation 3, Namco Bandai announced during a Tokyo Game Show stage event today.

Further details were not announced, but more information might arrive during the “The Idolmaster Secret Event at Akabane” on November 2.

Earlier this month, Namco Bandai also announced it would be bringing its Idolmaster series to PlayStation 4. Apparently, there’s still some way to go before that one comes out.

In addition to the new game announcement, Namco Bandai shared the debut trailer for Imas Channel, its free-to-download delivery service for paid Idolmaster content on PlayStation 3. View some screenshots at the gallery.

    Free to Download?

  • syaznifaiq

it just me or Namco Bandai seem to completely abandon xbox360 ? the only game they got is multiplatform game ,dark soul 2 and naruto storm 3 fullburst .. ,

    • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Who would have thought? Japan showing little to no interest in a dead console in their country. How surprising.

Oh wait, North America did the same with the PSP. Nevermind.

      • syaznifaiq

so you saying the reason why Namco Bandai abandon xbox360 is becoz japan no longer support a dead console .. ?! holy shit, you super genius .. how do you figured that out ? .

and thank for the psp info…how wrong am i thinking that psp still sell like hotcakes nowadays .. i mean, who want to buy a psp if they can get a ps vita or 3ds ..

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I never really thought about it, but… I think you’re right!

    • Takane Shijou

Microsoft as well gave up trying to sell in Japan. So it’s really no surprise. Though, we’ll see how that changes for the Xbone.

      • syaznifaiq

namco bandai may not a ‘big’ publisher like SE or Capcom but seeing they almost completely abandon xbox360 and focus only on one platform is still a bold move IMO.. . nevertheless, maybe its better this way .. they be able to utilize on one platform and make fans happy

        • Kevadu

There’s nothing ‘bold’ about focusing on the only platform people in your home territory care about. I don’t think you understand just how bad 360 sales are in Japan.

Also, Namco Bandai *is* a big publisher.

          • syaznifaiq

            ok, fair enough

        • 永次

Namco-Bandai is the biggest Third Party in Japan (and game company with Nintendo) and one of the biggest Third Party around the world.

  • MrKappa

If Namco localized a Idolmaster game I would be deftly surprised. They seem to be turning over a new leaf and even Sega localized a Miku game so many anything is possible.

    • Xaltmas

I’d imagine the localization of Project Diva F had more to do with Crypton releasing the Vocaloid software in the west than good will from Sega. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was Crypton that made Sega localize it.

And Namco actually did localize some Idolmaster games for iOS, then proceeded to charge nearly $60 each for them.

      • Renaldi Saputra

and I wonder how many downloads does it have until now

    • http://twitter.com/GNPixie Lynx

      They did.

      Go look on iOS.
Ports of the shiny festa games. 50 bucks a pop.

      • Xaltmas

Aren’t those just regular rhythm games without any of the idol management stuff?

Shame they are so stupidly expensive.

        • Budgiecat

Holy crap I just checked…..$55 for an iPhone game?? wtf??

  • Bob Obb

    Imas 3, bring it

  • DarthBrian

Maybe we’ll get this one. T_T

    • Takane Shijou

As nice as it would be, it’s as likely as Sega localizing a game to the West.

      • DarthBrian

        SEGA localized Miku! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

        • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Miku was also only one idol :P

Plus, having her sponsor Toyota for a while helped build up her reputation in North America, so this time it’s a bit different.

          • Xaltmas

Also Miku sells out concerts in the states.

            • Takane Shijou

Pretty much that as well. Miku is just a bit easier to market to the West than Idolm@ster is.

              • Renaldi Saputra

not a bit, but quite easier.. bcos I don’t think many ppl in the west know Im@s, only between otaku and anime lovers I assume.. when Vocaloid especially Miku have been being so popular worldwide for years

              • DarthBrian

I have yet to see them ‘market’ Project Diva F though. Nobody knows about this game except Miku fans.

                • Xaltmas

Isn’t the Vocaloid fanbase pretty big though? I mean, Miku isn’t exactly something you could market to the more mainstream gamers.

                  • DarthBrian

I honestly have no idea. All I can say for sure is pretty much nobody I know had ever heard of it before I mentioned it to them. And most of the people I know are nerds of some type in one form or another. :p
Hell, I even talked one of my friends into getting it. I’m doing SEGA’s marketing for them apparently. :p

          • DarthBrian

Project Diva F has SIX idols! :p
(9 if you include the DLC)

            • Xaltmas

You mean 4. Miku, Rin, Luka and Meiko.

Kaito and Len can go sit in the corner.

              • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

I should have corrected him and said NINE since Teto, Neru, and Haku are in there too. DLC, sure, but nevertheless…

                • DarthBrian

                  I mentioned the DLC!!!

                  • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

You edited your comment after I had already posted mine, lol.

                    • DarthBrian

I edited my comment almost immediately. No new comments had loaded by then.
I usually add “EDIT:” if I know someone else has added a comment already.

              • DarthBrian

Len rules. Without him there’s no Remote Control, Heaven and Hell, or Trick and Treat.

                • Xaltmas

Those songs all have Rin in them too, which is why they are acceptable.

I have yet to hear a solo song by Len that I have enjoyed, and nothing ruins a song quicker for me than that twat Kaito. I can’t stand the voice.

                  • DarthBrian

Monochrome Dream Eater is a pretty good song. *shrug*

            • https://www.youtube.com/user/GamingHeroTetsuya TetsuyaHikari

Lol no. It’s called, “Hatsune Miku: Project F” for a reason, not “Hatsune Miku, Rin Kagamine, Len Kagamine, Kaito, Meiko, Luka: Project Diva F” :P

Everyone knows the only reason they sell is for Miku, lol. Without her, they’d hit rock bottom in the sales charts every time.

        • almostautumn

There’s a reason for this; Miku hit internet acclaim, and they were selling Miku t-shirts at friggin’ Hot Topic for a while. Dunno if Idolmaster will hit that level of ‘cool’ to justify being localized.

    • Jesse

Well, the chances seems higher, since we got the Idolmaster DLC for Xillia. Wish we had gotten it and the Vocaloid DLC for Graces f, but it’s too late for that, now.

  • Zancrow

Noooooo, we’ll never get a new Berserk chapter!

    • 罪罰

what does Berserk have to do with anything.

      • Zancrow

Everything, considering the Mangaka apparently plays those Idolmaster games.

        • 罪罰

Let him play his Idolmaster, sheesh.

          • Zancrow

But we’ve been waiting half a year or so for the next chapter, again…:'(

            • captainhowdy

              I feel your pain.

              • Zancrow

                United we wait!

                • captainhowdy

Exactly. I just hope Mirua will bring Berserk back to it’s original state. The earlier volumes were dark, great plot twist, with frightening characters.

Ever since Idol master has been in his life, he’s been slouching :/. But I still think Berserk is better than 90% of the stuff out there now. We’ll just keep waiting until he’s done fapping to this.

                  • Zancrow

                    Yeah, I hope so, too.
Miura is probably one of the most talented artists out there.
                    It’s a waste if he doesn’t draw.

                    • captainhowdy

Yes! It’s a shame he hates working. This mans has great potential to create wonderful stories, but he hates working.

I still have hope that before we die, Berserk “might” be finish. We can all see Griffith get his a## handed to him by Guts.

            • http://twitter.com/GNPixie Lynx

Aren’t we still on the boat?

          • Budgiecat

fuck that. Let him do his job for once.

            • captainhowdy

Exactly. It takes forever for a new Berserk Chapter.

      • http://twitter.com/GNPixie Lynx

The author’s admitted to being a fan.

And a Chihaya fan to boot.

        • PrinceHeir

          woah your right!

i didn’t know he was a fan of Chihaya!

love Chihaya though i’m leaning towards Za Queen(Wakayama Shinobu) :)

  • Eclipse

Sweet, I’m always up for more iDOLM@STER <3

  • Budgiecat

Why can’t it be Tekken idolm@ster

  • kiri25

This is interesting to me seeing as MS said Japan was major focus for them, yet they now seem to have lost yet another one of there major exclusives in Japan.

Idolmaster for those that don’t know was for the largest dlc content sold on live in Japan. Its content would usually always be at the top the list for dlc sold.

Tho maybe its popularity has died down but I could have seen then talking with namco for a kinect idol master.

  • bloodiOS

Just a bit curious but can someone with the game remind me if iDOLM@STER‘s native resolution is 720p or 1080p? I can’t check since I’m transferring data between my PS3s right now.
