It’s another good week for the 3DS while other platforms bombed. I’m a little sad that Puppeteer flopped.

    • Zackasaur

I think Puppeteer was always going to do better in the west.

For some reason, platformers have mostly moved beyond Japan

Either way, the game is amazing. I picked it up yesterday with KH 1.5 HD and Killzone: Mercenary.

      • bloodiOS

This is a disappointing week, sales-wise.

        • TheExile285

Japan is gearing up for MH4. Just be warned, sales for everything non-3DS and non-MH4 are going to be absolutely horrible :/

          • bloodiOS

Oh, that is to be expected. As a matter of fact, it would be much more disturbing if the game and the 3DS don’t get good sales when it comes out.

    • Budgiecat

      Not Moe enough

    • almostautumn

I’m pretty confused by that too. I mean, whenever I think of Japanese puppets I think of how puppets lead to the fascination with robotics in Japan— and so, as robots are still a big thing in Japan, you’d think a game focused on where the whole fascination came from would be pretty popular, if only for a breezy recognition of history.

Also, it looks straight up amazing, so why nobody would fetch it also confuses me :P

  • shafiq95

    killzone is 8!

  • shogunknight

Wow, killzone did better than puppeteer. Impressive game numbers, not so impressive console/handheld numbers. 3ds seems immune to sales, and 2ds is coming to eat its own share soon :( . That means were going to have nine numbers soon instead of our usual 8 consoles

    • TheExile285

Japan is gearing up for MH4.

And It wlll be 10 when Vita 10 comes out and 12 when next gen launches lol.

    • Zackasaur

Wouldn’t the PS Vita TV mean we have ten numbers? lulz

If they don’t track the PS Vita TV, then we’ll never have accurate numbers again.

And then TWELVE numbers after PS4/Xbone… Jeez.

  • SuperLuigi

Yay for splinter cell. It’s a very good game and I’m glad it is popular even in japan. I also want doa5u but I’ll haft to wait to buy that one.

    • TheExile285

download the Free 2 Play version (“Core Fighters) on PSN while you wait. That is what I’m doing till i can afford to buy the full version.

      • SuperLuigi

I did day 1. I just want to play as Ein and Jackey but if I am buying the full version no need to waste $10.00 buying them on core fighters.

  • TheExile285

A PSP at #1 and Splinter Cell at #2? 0.0

weird week (actually the PSP game isn’t that surprising)

was kind of hoping Killzone would do about 20-30k. Oh well, it’ll do better in the West.

  • Locksus

Wow, nothing new for 3DS this week and it sold more than last week. But as @theexile285:disqus said, they are going crazy for MH4.
A little bit surprised that Splinter Cell is even remotely popular in Japan.

I wish that both Vita and Wii U would gain popularity. They’re both really great platforms :/

  • Budgiecat

A PSP Otome game beating out everyone else……whats going on Japan….talk to me…I’m ready to listen to your problems….

    • TheExile285

wait its an Otome game? LOL!

      • michel

It’s a game targeted to an “Otome” audience, that is, early teenage girls. Although it’s a little imprecise, you could translate “otome” with “maiden”, in English.

    • Milla

its a rhytm game similair to idolmaster but with guys and yes i did my research

  • PrinceHeir

wow really surprise Blacklist is doing great :)

even if it’s only 20k, being western game top in a japanese chart is amazing :)

i also notice how alot of consoles slows down like immediately after a week(DOA5U, JoJo;well it’s probably have to do with how the game is handled)

Japan sure loves handheld games :P

Animal Crossing is still on top 20!!!
