Famitsu updates story following magazine confusion.

After some confusion surrounding the magazine announcement of Puella Magi Madoka Magica: The Battle Pentagram (Famitsu said it was a PlayStation 3 game, Dengeki said it was a PS Vita game), Namco Bandai producer Yusuke Tomizawa has confirmed on Twitter that the upcoming magical girl game is for PS Vita.

Famitsu, which went up with a PlayStation 3 listing in their online preview this morning, has since corrected its platform.

If you’re at the Tokyo Game Show next week, the anime action game will be on exhibit. It’s due out in Japan in winter this year.

And here I thought the Madoka train had finally come to a stop.

    • Budgiecat

      stop running trains on lolis

      • TetsuyaHikari

Maybe if the lolis would stop getting on the trains, then that would solve the problem :P

    • Zackasaur

What? They’ve got a massive new film coming out!

      • TetsuyaHikari

So does Persona 3, but you don’t see me wanting another game of that.

        • Zackasaur

Okay? That seems fairly irrelevant, both because it’s just “you” and not legions of fans, and because it’s not a fully adequate analogy.

Madoka fandom is huge, and they’re craving content. This game is just a side element of that.

The series is pretty phenomenal, so I’m excited about what is coming.

          • TetsuyaHikari

Pretty sure there are “legions of fans” for P3 and you thinking Madoka is more important is just “you” as proven by this statement:

“The series is pretty phenomenal, so I’m excited about what is coming.”

            Whatever you say though.

            • Zackasaur

There are a lot less fans of P3 than Madoka, though. The scales are different. But that’s not the only failing in your poor analogy. Here are a few points which have flown over your head:

              1. P3’s story also quite decidedly concluded, while there is more happening with Madoka.

              2. Persona doesn’t operate as one overall story. The Persona series IS continuing. Madoka is one story, and that story has more to tell. P3 fans are looking forward to P5. Madoka fans are looking forward to Madoka’s third film.

              3. This game is a spin-off product, equivalent to P3/P4 characters showing up in P4 Arena (and its upcoming enhanced version).

As for your jab at the end, I might need to explain to you how logical discourse works. You made a personal statement. Though I pointed out how little a personal statement really means in the big picture, I was still happy to put my own position out there for both the sake of countering and openness.

              “Whatever [I] say,” indeed.

Good thing that system is region free, too.

    • TetsuyaHikari

PS3 and Vita are both region free… I don’t see the point of this post, lol.

      • Jesse

        I meant since it’s not going to be on the PS3, at least the system it WILL be on is region free. ^^;

        • Zackasaur

Yeah, Sony have been awesome about being region free ever since the PSP.

  • OverlordZetta

    I’ll take ten!

  • Guest

    Kinda sad

  • HitagiHanekawa

  • talesoffan

Kinda sad. I for one would have liked to see this on the PS3 too.

    • Budgiecat

Well with PSVitaTV it kinda sorta maybe can be…..somewhat….

  • b4lmung

    Madoka bless Vita !!

  • Eclipse

    Sounds good to me.

I’m looking forward to seeing Homura’s gun-wielding skills.

  • Sevyne

    Awww yeah!

  • Zackasaur

    Do want.

  • Panda

I hope it doesn’t require touch screen controls to play so it can be on Vita TV too.

  • ekibyougami

    Praise be GODoka/MadoKAMI! m(_ _)m
No doubt you will have my munnies! Day One it is!

  • fireemblembeast

Man, I knew an anime game not for handhelds was too good to be true.
    Thanks, Famitsu!
    VOV oh well…

    • Zackasaur

But it’s the PS Vita, so it’s really as good as having a PS3 game developed. It’s not like this is for PSP or 3DS.

      • fireemblembeast

I know, but I don’t have a Vita…I could care less about the graphics, if that’s what you meant

        • Zackasaur

I mean graphics, AI, controls, etc. The whole package.

But, yeah, not owning a Vita is a roadblock. You should consider getting one! It’s an awesome machine.

          • fireemblembeast

Yeah I might if more vita games come here.

  • InsaneChronos

    Lol @ Famitsu.

  • jujubee88

    Ah, so it’s this game:

Hehe. People saying VITA games wont look anywhere near as good as PS3 when blown up just got trolled. VITA TV coming at ya, homies! D:

  • Renaldi Saputra

so it’s true that this is a VITA game

  • tubers

    Interestingly balsy move.

Hope it doesn’t bomba so it remains a decent VITA ip.

  • artemisthemp
