First Trails in the Sky also headed to Steam.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky Second Chapter is coming to PC via Steam and PSP via digital download in North America next year, XSEED Games has announced.

The first game, The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, will also be released on Steam this winter.

XSEED is publishing the sequel with the translation help of Carpe Fulgur, which is known for PC games Recettear and Chantelise.

“We are pleased to finally give the fans what they have been requesting so fervently for over two years,” said XSEED vice president Ken Berry in a press release. “There’s been a constant demand ever since we released the original The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, and we are extremely grateful for our partnership with the passionate localizers at Carpe Fulgur to finally make it a reality.

Find the game’s plot summarized below.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky opens in the quaint and peaceful town of Rolent in the Liberl Kingdom. Home to a peacekeeping coalition free of government ties known as the Bracer Guild, the adventure follows two young aspiring bracers known as Estelle and Joshua on their trials to become full-fledged members of this elite organization. As they embark on their quest, their journey will take them across an entire country, unraveling a sinister government conspiracy along the way that’s poised to overtake the throne, threatening the very peace the bracers seek to uphold. Throughout their adventure, players can expect to learn the full depth of these characters’ origins and motivations through dialogue-driven cutscenes and lengthy side-quests.

Trails in the Sky SC, meanwhile, begins immediately after the events in the first game. Following the explosive revelations at the very end of Trails in the Sky, Estelle feels adrift and must find her resolve along with friends both old and new, and face down the true architects of the chaos engulfing Liberl – a force far more powerful and insidious than she could ever have imagined.

Boasting over a hundred hours of gameplay between the two episodes and featuring an engaging narrative that encompasses everything from politics, economics and conspiracies to tourism, traditions and even a cat-speech dictionary, these two titles in The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky series combine to form an incredibly immersive RPG experience. On top of its meticulously crafted world where all actions and inhabitants are accounted for throughout the story, the game also features a meticulously customizable combat system, a massive cast of characters from all walks of life, a variety of landscapes, an in-game newspaper that publishes new issues as the story progresses, and much more. In The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, players are responsible for shaping the world, and will see direct repercussions from their actions as the game unfolds.

Aksys does PSP better. Retail PSP release in 2013.

  • Alkaid

A High-five to you all Legend of Heroes players! To quote the guy with the suit from a certain television series: This is Legen- WAIT FOR IT….dary!

This might seem totally idiotic but I’d buy the PC version of FC again, SC (as well as the PSP version) and would also spend money on the PS3 “HD” version.
XSEED and Carpe Fulgur you rule!
(also Chante is still my Waifu, thanks for making her acquainted with me CF) *thumb up*

  • Calvin Chikelue

You typed ‘Released on Stem’ Sal

  • Magnumsally

no physical is a bit of a bummer but its still cool

  • TheExile285

OMG, I love XSEED! If they do a physical release for the PSP game I will buy 1 hard copy and 1 DD copy for my Vita!

  • Mar Mar

    The wait is over finally!

Aaaaand hopefully the rest of the series get localized. The world needs to know more Falcom games

  • Miyako Arima

  • Lynx

There was an interview done over at RPGamer about it.
I’ll leave it here, for those curious.

The last two points are of particular interest.

  • LeBronista

Another JRPG for my Vita along side FFX/FFX-2 in 2014. :-)

  • artemisthemp

The game is already out on PSP, so only new thing is the PC port

    • Bec66

Did the part about the second game finally being localized just fly over your head?

so… the question is …. they r goin to re-release the FC on steam too ? i hope it =D!!!

and suddenly the stupid harlem shake music starts playing in my head

  • Auragar

Great here’s hoping they do the 3rd chapter at least, if not Blue, Zero, and Flash as well.

  • Homero21

This can be a signal that XSEED will bring us The Legend of Heroes: Sen no Kiseki to psvita???

    • fqc

XSeed only has the rights for the Sora no Kiseki/Trails in the Sky games.

    • Silver Citizen

That’s the 6th game and they’re barely releasing the 2nd next year. What do you think?

  • bloodiOS

That’s nice and all but since I sold my PSP, I sorta hope it would be released on the PS3 instead.

  • KiQun

    Yay, my vita is ready.

    • Willgaea

Did they say it’s coming to the vita?

      • BizarreJelly

The Vita will probably be able to play it with its psp emulator.

      • ( `Д´)ノ)`ν゜)

The Vita is the only reason this still got a PSP release. I don’t think a digital only, PSP only release of anything would fly these days.

  • BizarreJelly

XSEED are the kings/queens of localizing.

    • TetsuyaHikari

If they were that good, they would have localized the enhanced PS3 version instead of the PC port based off the PSP port which is already 5 years old. While it’s nice that they’re FINALLY bringing the PSP version, the PSP is dead in North America. They would have been better off with a digital download for PS3.

EDIT: Herp derp. PSP version is a port of the PC release. Man, where was my mind? THat would be like saying Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim for PC was based off the PSP or PS2 version :|

      • BizarreJelly

Myeh, I’m just happy to get the game in English at all.

      • DesmaX

The PS3 version need better work at Falcom to be released here (Especially since Trophies are obligatory in the west).

And, hey, the PSP version was a port of the PC one (The PS3 version uses the HD assets from it)

        • TetsuyaHikari

          You’re right, lol. I really shouldn’t have posted when I was so tired earlier. I still can’t believe I mixed them up… Especially since I’ve been following Nihon Falcom’s stuff since the 90’s ;w;

      • Solomon_Kano

You’ve got that backwards, actually. The PSP version is based on the PC original. As is the PS3 version, which is literally the PC version on a Blu-ray.

        • TetsuyaHikari

Ah, you’re right. Well, that’s what I get for typing while being awake for over 24 hours earlier, haha. I knew I mixed them up as soon as I came back here to check these messages (I’ll edit that post now actually).

I played FC, SC, and TC on PC, but only bothered with FC and SC on PSP. I will say this though… SC is definitely my favorite and the best in the chapters, so at least you’re getting it at all? Still, porting the PS3 version would have been better since PSP is dead in NA, lol.

          • DesmaX

Honestly, I think they are only bothering with the PSP versions to make the fans happy.

Probably they’re only expecting good sales from the PC version

            • TetsuyaHikari

Yeah. There have been a few people still holding out for this to come to PSP. XSEED has been taking their sweet ass time with it. I get it, SC has the most dialogue to translate, but come on… You guys have had HOW many years to localize it?

Meh. The PC version will definitely sell more than the PSP because, well… Steam > PSP.

      • Budgiecat

        That’s what I’m screamin!

*smacks TetsuyaHikari in the face in agreement*

  • PrinceHeir

i do hope they release the trilogy version once it’s all done.

even if it’s PS3 version i would love that!

then again i’m taking JPN classes right now so maybe i’ll be able to learn the language well before they do that XD

  • robbb

    Digital only? Pass!!!!

    • Ladius

That makes little sense, if you care to think about it: SC is a two UMD game, and UMD production could very well be halted in mid 2014. As for the PC version, I’m sure you know there isn’t a PC retail market for games that aren’t your CoDs, Diablos and Starcrafts outside a small number of country, mostly European ones, while XSEED is an American publisher.

  • kuusou yume

I’ve been waiting for the first one to go on sale on PS Store.

    • TheExile285

      its $20….

  • Budgiecat

Ugh why not the PS3 versions??

  • Elvick

This is rather underwhelming… can’t be helped I suppose. Hopefully they don’t price it full retail price they’ve done before. I refuse to pay full retail for a digital only localization. At least knock off $5.

  • LordKaiser Interesting interview between rpgamer and Xseed about the issue.

  • Kurisu Makise

At last! By months end, I’ll be sure to add the first chapter to my collection and ready my money for SC.

  • LordKaiser

To those that gives hell to Xseed about being slow. and they have few people.

    • Bec66

Makes you wonder if we’ll ever get any of the other games after SC
