Hyper Light Drifter needs $111,000 more to make it to consoles.

Hyper Light Drifter, an upcoming 2D action RPG in the vein of 8-bit and 16-bit classics from indie developer Heart Machine, has added a PlayStation 4 and PS Vita stretch goal to its Kickstarter campaign.

The project, which has currently received $109,000 in funding, is seeking $220,000 for the PlayStation versions. Cross-buy is currently “undetermined,” but those who contribute $15 to the campaign will be able to choose between PlayStation 4, PS Vita, PC, Mac, or Linux versions of the game.

The game promises to be “dark and fantastic, with giant forests to navigate, huge floating structures to explore, deep crumbling ruins to loot, massive throngs of enemies to rend, and behemoths both flesh and mechanical to overcome.” It plays like “A Link to the Past and Diablo, evolved,” according to the developer, which consists of “lightning fast combat, more mobility, an array of tactical options, more numerous and intelligent enemies, and a larger world with a twisted past to do it all in.”

Its core mechanics include a primary weapon—your Hard Light-composed sword—a drone sprite companion, defense system, secondary items like pistols, rifles, and seeker rones, and a dash module.

    PS4 and PS Vita?

    Now I’m interested.

  • Alkhan

Dropped my $150 back a few hours ago when he posted the PS4+Vita stretch goals :)

  • shogunknight

This game is amazing, Saw Thatgamecompany recommended this game yesterday via google+

  • Solomon_Kano

    YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!

  • sherimae1324

its time to backed this!!!! ^_^ there is still 28 days left and i know it will exceed more than that stretch goal!!

    • jujubee88

I’ve only backed one game: Starlight Inception. It was a spaceship sim shooter that’s kinda like x wing versus tie fighter and they are developing for VITA. YES!!! (Now you can see why I backed it)

This game looks really good and it’s crazy the quality of stuff that’s on kickstarter now. This is the kind of stuff like Pixel Junk (a Sony funded developer for a lot of years) would make. So cool! ^_^

      • sherimae1324

hey how would you know! i like starlight inception too and been on my radar since last year ^_^

        and also forgotten memories ^_^

  • pekot

    Ok looks nice
But why this game called RPG ?

    • Alkhan

It’s called an Action RPG because it’s an Action RPG.

      • pekot

        I see an action game
If so , then DMC and God of war should be an Action RPG games

        • Willgaea

I take it as a simple rule because game definitions are so random. Any game that I can decide to do what I want to do is considered a rpg. That just the way I look at it.
          Whats the count up to?

Jrpg or Rpg or turn based

          Action rpg
          Strategy rpg
Table Top rpg (the one that never ends till you die)
          Massive Multiplayer Oline rpg
          Dungeon Crawler rpg
          Western Rpgs
          Real Time strategy rpg?

          All right I’m lost now.

        • Ritsujun

ARPG =/= Action Game, for goat’s sake.

      • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

        Except it isn’t.

      • Ritsujun

pekot and Auragar should just quit gaming for good. They can’t even differentiate genre.

    • http://www.cubiz.tk/ Auragar

Because they like to slap RPG onto these types of games nowadays. They don’t know what a real RPG is. There is even a real ARPG sub-genre but this is not it.

  • jujubee88

Kinda crazy I saw this happen right before my eyes.

It was totally just an awesome idea for a game on kickstarter, next thing you know it’s on PS4 and VITA in the blink of an eye.

    :D

    Strider? is that you bro?

  • Willgaea

Reminds me of Cladun, and I loved that game.

  • Ritsujun

    Gross.

  • Xaltmas

It’s already at nearly $160,000. With 27 days left, it should easily blow past the PS4/Vita stretch goal. I’m interested in seeing if any more stretch goals are added.

  • Xaltmas

Nearly at $200,000 with 25 days left! Man, I can’t wait to play this on my Vita.
