IGN, GamesAktuell, and JeuxActu have gone up with the world’s first hands-on previews of Grand Theft Auto V. Give each a read. Or IGN’s, at least.

New screenshots showing fast cars, a lit up city, the mountainside, and the game’s protagonist trio came out of GamesAktuell’s preview. View those at the gallery.

Seeing those cars just makes me hope V’s driving is better than IV’s. Never understood how that turned out so poorly when they’ve got the Midnight Club team around.

      seriously

I must be one of the only people that liked the driving in 4 >_> I quite liked the sliding around, once you were used to it you could pull of some awesome turns and feel like you’d mastered it :p

first impressions from everyone is they made it a lot better now.

        That’s great to hear.

It’s amazing that a game that has so many flaws (the shooting is one as well) got so many perfect scores…

And the melee combat. Yea, totally worthy of those 10s though!

Stuff like that is why I stopped looking at reviews.

Well R* actually artificially inflated the review scores. They flew all the reviewers out for like three days to give them 24 hour access to the game and lifted the embargo on the fourth day. As a result, you have reviewers brazing through a 90+ hour game in less than 72 hours so they can finish it and get their review up first. R* steamrolled them. They played through so fast that they didn’t have a chance to notice the flaws or really ruminate on the game’s actual quality. And it looks like they are doing strictly controlled limited vertical slices of the game again to control the press impressions. I mean, really? They invite three press outlets to get hands on? Of course they’ll say good things. They want to be the ones invited back for GTAVI. R* are total masters of the PR cycle. I mean, look how badly people are salivating over what, three trailers and 25 screens?

Maybe they just really like the games… Even Kojima said the GTAV trailer was impressive.

This is shaping up to sound really awesome. So glad I won’t lose my weapons if (and when) I get busted!

Really looking forward to this, I wanna see more of Grove Street!
