Oh my, Battle Princess of Arcadias got such bad scores… Yay for Sen no Kiseki!

Solid score for Sen no Kiseki.

An 8, two 7’s, and a 6 are not bad scores— all of them are above average, two of them recognize the game as substancially powerful, and one goes so far as to say the game is exceptional and must-have.

If you can’t read the actual review, at least recognize what the scores actually mean.

Go ahead and break down what each individual score means based on the normal standard, but for a review from Famitsu? It means shit! Each individual score sure holds so much meaning because that right in the end, they went and totaled up the scores and set it out of 40 points anyway.

        • almostautumn

What does the overall score matter at all? I mean, if you’re trying to gauge how reactionary consumers are going to react, sure; a 28/40 isn’t that exciting. But, again, and as I explained, each individual reviewer, in their review, assessed the game mostly as exceptional

Battle Princess of Arcadia…what happened? And as much as I liked the idea behind Eiyuu Senki…I have to say I’m not surprised by the score, hopefully it means it’s for a niche audience and not that it’s downright bad

    • Budgiecat

Everything looks nice the only drawback I see it the lackluster 3D animation..

    • almostautumn

28/40 isn’t that bad when you look at the individual scores. Two 7’s (Great), one 8 (Terrific), and one 6 (above average). While I recognize that Fami scores are high as can be anymore, the truth is that each of the individual reviewer’s scores recognize that the title is, indeed, good, but with majority favoring it toward exceptional.

      • Josephl64

yeah I know that much, but I thought it was so akin to Dragon’s Crown combat-wise it would have scored better. Not like I care though since I’m going to pick up that beauty regardless

Arcadia is strictly 2 dimensional, no? DC was a plane-brawler (2.5D? Although it isn’t).
I think the videos revealed for the game show some of the core problems though that I assume Fami has noted also. The hit-detection is really minor that the player does to enemies, and it being on 2D, if you watch the videos, there is an inconsistent overlap of player-above-enemy, and player-behind-enemy. These design decisions, particularly in the “War” battles that have the screen utterly packed with moving persons and objects, can create a highly confusing and, at times, nauseating experience.

I think the game will be great, and plan on importing it within 6 months or buying the localized version (I assume 6 months time it will be announced or not; NISA works fast). That said, the videos show some errors that most journalists would simply have to deduct their scores by even if they are happen on a miniscule or transparent level.

i think there’s a REALLY big problem with the scores here…how did epic mickey 2 get such a high score!?

    • bloodiOS

The actual reviewers must’ve been slipped some Mickeys and replaced with insiders.

    • Dede Ogbe

Said it b4 and say it again, Famitsu guys are the last ppl u trust when it comes to scores

  • DesmaX

Oh, poor Battle Princess… Guess that what happens when NIS outsource a game.
