Watch the Eurogamer Expo developer session.

During a developer session at the Eurogamer Expo in London yesterday, Bethesda and Tango Gameworks showed off 20 minutes of new The Evil Within gameplay.

The demo is divided into two parts. The first part shows the beginning off the game, where Sebastian Castellanos just arrives at the asylum. The second part is from later in the game and highlights its combat and action.

Watch the footage below.

Update: Bethesda has come through this morning with an official 12-minute gameplay video. Watch it below.

I like how the main pic for this article shows the character I’d rather play as…

    • Unknown

he does look classy as fuck

      dem leather gloves

    • Elvick

      He’s dreamy.

Bua ha ha. Now everyone will think you’d rather play as the actual main character.

*note to everyone: main pic used to be glasses guy, not Sebastian*

  • bloodiOS

Sincerely hope that this is the Xbox 360 footage and not representative of what next-gen counterparts might look like.

  • Impressionnant

Wish we could play as the glasses guy instead. Looks a lot more interesting than a generic tough cop. Hopefully Sebastian turns out to be a good character.

  • Rogerrmark

Sebastian ran like there was no end,and the chainsaw guy actually MANAGED to catch him and hurt his leg.lol

    The game looks badass,though.

I saw this demo at E3. <3 Mikami. Resident Evil isn't dead after all, it's just not called Resident Evil anymore.

    • McPoo

Resident Evil 6 came out not that long ago m8

      • Budgiecat

No that was “Gears of Evil: Modern Zombiefare”

        • McPoo

It was still rollicking good fun though, wasn’t it?

          • Budgiecat

no not really. I turned it off to play Siren instead…

Nothing like beating over your enemy with every day house hold supplies instead of just using guns like every other game…

            • McPoo

I personally enjoyed it, it made for a fairly fun co-op game.

I’ve not played Siren, played one of the older ones on PS2 though and didn’t think much of it. That said, I don’t deal well with scary games, so that’s probably why :p

              • Charlie

Hey McPoo, try the latest Siren game. It’s a huge improvement over the previous titles. Very, very scary though.

I actually hated RE6. I mean— I think I played a total of 5 hours before returning it.
I was confused; RE5, while not ‘scary,’ was at least intense in regards to, early in the game, limited resources and ambushes of strong enemies (including insta-death ones). With RE6 it is not scary, and you can literally punch/kick your way through any number of enemies. Furthermore, the gameplay is again highly departed from either RE4, or RE1-3; it felt like I was playing a 100% TPS, which would have been fine, except still the series retains ‘staples’ of jarred and limited mobility, and yet as there is no focus on horror but gunplay and action the overall sluggishness of doing anything made me just groan and bored.
I’m not too big a fan of RE; I liked REmake, and RE4 solely; but RE6 was just, unquestionably, the worst entry i’ve played. I was able to have some co-op fun in RE5, but with RE6 I just couldn’t justify playing it when there are so many more exciting and fluent games out there.

    I choose Leon Kennedy.

  • Anime10121

Why the Freek did that idiot leave the door wide open when he went up the stares.? His legs, that was his fault…

    • Calvin Chikelue

Shoulda closed and locked it behind himself. Dumb police officer

      • Anime10121

Exactly, considering he more than likely had the only set of keys (I doubt that thing was able to just stop my Walmart and be like, “Uh, ROAR and the like, I’d like to make a copy of my key ring, and also your body to cut up after your done, kthxbai”

  • Calvin Chikelue

I’m conflicted. On one hand, I hope that spider woman isn’t the upper limit on their creature design. On the other, anything scarier than that will probably leave me too frightened to complete the game.

  • Charlie

Wicked blood effects. Really looking forward to a true survival horror game, finally!

  • Nitraion

I bet we can choose as female later on..

  • almostautumn

I won’t lie; when the door burst open and the river of blood came gushing I jumped quite a bit in my seat.

    And it felt good :)
