I think they should have updated the character models

    • Sevyne

Yep. It’s actually really lazy that they didn’t.

      • LunarHaven

Yup, and the Devil May Cry HD collection was lazy that they didn’t put in the Dante from DMC4 with that graphic there. So lazy of em… Why didn’t they put MGS 3 snake into the MGS 2 HD release? So many lazy developers out there. They don’t change and present classics as fake new games to please the graphic-focused bunch, what a failed industry.

        • Sevyne

          Someone sounds super butthurt.

          • LunarHaven

Congrats on replying with 1 of the 5 most cliche and overused words on the internet.

If the discussion can’t remain civil, please just drop it and move on. Thanks.

              • Sevyne

It wasn’t going to go any further than that. Someone getting so angry at other people for having a differing opinion, that they feel they should insult everyone in the thread who doesn’t agree isn’t worth the effort beyond a single post.

    • LunarHaven

It’s an HD upgrade, with more added content than any other HD upgrade out there, stop complaining and look at the positives. Sheesh

      • Budgiecat

But I dun wanna stop I can’t stop. My feet just keep dancing…

      • bloodiOS

More than others? Graces f would like to disagree.

      • Chardo

what added content? just more customes? it doesnt compare to an entire gameplay overhawl that innocence R and hearts R received in battle systems, dungeon design, endgame content and new playable characters.

even Graces F got the whole future arc, Vesperia ps3 got 2 new permanent party members and endgame content, etc. Its all fine if you want symphonia HD, but in new content it doesnt compare at all with the rest of the series whenever they got ports or remakes.

        • LunarHaven

Vesperia wasn’t a ”HD” release to another gen. Innocence R and Hearts R were both REMAKES.
Graces F was the only title they added that much content to, something no other company normally do with their ports. I guess that spoiled their fans, now you people suddenly expect the same from every HD port they’re coming with?

And to the people who want updated character models, I hope you know that would been that they would have to update EVERY character model in the entire game to make them fit each other. Because the entire art style of the game was made in sync with the current look.

So bottom line, it’s an HD port, NOT a remake. People so easily get spoiled and mix things up.

          • bloodiOS

Uh, first of all, you’re the one who first mentioned the added contents, no one else was even bothered talking about it until you brought it up, so stop accusing people out of confusion.

Secondly, it’s an HD-remaster collection, even if the idea of having character models updated sounds like too much of a stretch, the least we can expect is having the textures touched-up. Based on what I see in the screenshots, there doesn’t seem to be a lot of that.

Seriously, just because most companies have the tendency to dish out lacklustre efforts just for the sake of making a quick buck, doesn’t mean that suddenly people have to cope with the idea that every single HD-remaster project has to lower itself to that standard.

            • LunarHaven

Well, I am no graphic whore myself, so getting dual audio, which now means voiced skits, the PS2 version we never got with added anime cutscenes and new costumes etc. actually means something to me. So I’ll let you and other new-gen spoiled kids cry about some minor texture issues while I’ll think about the things that actually matter, reliving a classic in a new and fresh way.

OH NO LOOK… the textures aren’t at the MGS HD level!!! NOOO… *shakes head*

              • bloodiOS

SMH… I’d still buy the collection, play it and like it. In fact, I don’t think anyone would say “OMG! No touch-up, no buy!!!” People only wish it would be even better but err, apparently people wanting something other than what you want somehow warranted your misconception and being name-called by you. Good day.

How do you think they should have done that? What changes would you have liked to see?

      • Budgiecat

Well they should have replaced the character models with normal sized updated ones with more visual clarity like KH and FFX HD did. Improve the textures etc

      • bloodiOS

I personally don’t mind the models but the textures could definitely use some serious touch-up.

      • LordKaiser

The same thing they did with Graces f

        • LunarHaven

It was easier to add content to Graces F, because it’s a relevantly new game. While Symphonia is from what? 2003? Not as easy to add to. Also, not every port needs to add content in spades.

          • LordKaiser

There’s not relation to the age of the game. BTW the Wii and GC are more closer in hardware than many think. Dolphin’s emulator author said something about it on their forum.

  • fireemblembeast

Lol kratos looks better than I expected as ludger but presea’s dress is a bit too short…

  • Willgaea

Kratos looks like a child. They should at least upgrade Kratos.

  • AdamBoy64

Okay. I see the DotNW in this pack is getting the previously PAL-only additions.

The best one of those being the Skit Player, I’d say.

  • AdamBoy64

Are there many of us here who just don’t like costumes?

I very rarely – if ever – use them.

It could be because I build up a picture of the character, and I associate how they look strongly with who they are. And changing that mid-game just seems out of place.

    • RSene

      Couldn’t agree more.

  • alangato

That is cool but… I think they should have added more stuff. I think we are finally seeing what the Tales Studio absorption by namco bandai meant.

  • Karmistral

Are people fighting about how this isn’t an HD remake with new sprites again—

As far as i’m concerned, they’re reviving a classic game a lot of us long time Tales players, and i hope Namdai gains more following for the series. They’ll need it for future developments.

  • Astrid Huang

Wow.. actually Zelos in Alvin’s outfit looks much better than I thought! I’m glad they decided not to use his default hair.

But I still have a mixed feeling for Kratos and Presea in those outfits..
