Namco Bandai ensures popular mecha series is never in drought.

Watch the debut trailer.

Hot off the heels of Super Robot Wars OG Saga Masou Kishin III: Pride of Justice‘s Japanese release, Namco Bandai announced Super Robot Wars OG Infinite Battle for PlayStation 3 in this week’s Famitsu. Due out on November 28, the game will be available in a 7,480 yen standard edition and 8,980 yen limited edition.

The game is the realization of a collaboration between B.B. Studios, who developed the old Super Robot Wars games, and BEC, which had a hand in a number of Gundam games. Unlike other Super Robot Wars games, it doesn’t have a story.

Infinite Battle uses a team battle system set on a 3D field where players can run about freely. The battle form varies by situation—it could be one-versus-three, two-versus-two, one-versus-one, etc. Attacks are simple: one button for fighting, one button for shooting, and another for a finishing move. Attack variations can be done by pressing other buttons together and using the d-pad, etc.

Confirmed mecha and pilots include:

  • Cybuster (Masaki Andoh)
  • Fairlion Type S (Latooni Subota)
  • Sladegelmir (Woden Ymir)
  • At Eisen Riese (Kyosuke Nanbu)
  • Soulgain (Axel Almar)
  • Gespenst Mk-II Mass Product Model (Russell Bergman)

The remaining mecha are allies from Super Robot Wars OG and OG 2.

The limited edition includes Super Robot Wars OG Dark Prison, a standalone game packed in with the set produced until March 31. Buying the limited edition gets you the game 1,500 yen cheaper than the standalone game, which will launch at 3,000 yen later on. Dark Prison is a side-story to 2nd Super Robot Wars OG, featuring Granzon and Shu Shirakawa. Gadifall will also be an ally.

Development on Super Robot Wars OG Infinite Battle is currently 80 percent complete. Details on the game’s weapon remodeling system will be shared in a followup report.

Thanks, Sinobi, Sokuho@Hokanko.

P.S. I think Latoni is spelled with 2 ‘o’s as in Latooni

    • Sal Romano

Thanks. Not familiar with these charas.

      • Kobracon

No prob. Its got a cult following and you’re lucky you got some of us cultists here :)

  • Duc PC-QB

    Important question :

Is the mech 2D or not ?

    • Kobracon

“Infinite Battle uses a team battle system set on a 3D field where players can run about freely.”

Sounds pretty 3D to me :/

  • Lynx

    -Fairlion Type S (Latooni Subota)

    Not the Wildraubtier Schnabel?
    Color me surprised.

  • z_merquise

    I hope Dygenguar is here.

(I got used with the name Daizengar though)

    • Kobracon

What are you talking about?! His name IS Dyzenguar!!!!!!!

  • papermario

dev means its going to be shovelware

    • Lynx

      Senki/ Battlefield Record UC 0081.
      Ghiren’s Greed (Ps2)
      Zeonic Front.

      What was that about shovelware?

      • TetsuyaHikari

Battlefield Record U.C. 0081 is still best Gundam game for PS3. Extreme VS comes close, but I reeeeeeeeeally liked Battlefield Record, haha.

        • miyamoto

MS Gundam: Battle Operation is the best Gundam game on PS3 imho
          no contest

          • TetsuyaHikari

            Lol Energy.

            I don’t think so.

  • TetsuyaHikari

This will be using a system similar to Gundam Extreme VS. Also, Sal… You may want to add that the Limited Edition comes with a DLC code for a Shuu chapter/route that was originally supposed to be featured in 第2次スーパーロボット大戦OG (Super Robot Wars OG 2nd). It will be released publicly for download six months later (but won’t be free, naturally). The game also doesn’t have a story mode, apparently.

If I don’t see Folka and Ialdabaoth I’m gonna raise Hell

  • Raiyu

I was just thinking about how awesome this would be a few days ago!

    YES! Day one buy!

  • PrinceHeir

wow soo many Super Robot Wars games!!

    • TetsuyaHikari

This is why I said before that maybe people are getting tired of SRW these days, lol. They don’t seem to be hitting the breaks on this train! I’m thinking maybe this is actually their way of trying to get on the fanbase’s good side because of the delay for OG 2nd. They still probably think people are mad about that :P

Still, looking forward to this! A shame it comes out the same month as God Eater 2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy, ffs =3=

      • PrinceHeir

lol you have soo many games on pre ordered XD

i just got Killer is Dead just now, after Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate, my next purchase will probably by the end of december.

still have other anime’s BD’s waiting to be shipped ^^

        • TetsuyaHikari

Not THAT many, really. I’ve got Jojo coming in a couple of days, then September and October are free. I guess I’ll pass up BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma since this new SRW is coming out. After that, I only have God Eater 2, then Lightning Returns along with this.

Well… And Sengoku Basara 4, in Q1 2014, whenever preorders go up for that on CDJapan.

          • PrinceHeir

            that’s still alot :P

i’m thinking of getting Resident Evil Revelations and Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen this christmas(since it’s much cheaper)

then next year Ultra Street Fighter IV, Dark Souls II, Lightning Returns FFXIII.

but this year i won’t be buying anything after Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate :P

also your not getting Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate?

            • TetsuyaHikari

Nah, not interested. I’ve always been a Basara guy, haha. Though, I DID give Shin Sangoku Musou 7 a try and it was alright, but… I still enjoy Basara more, so I know I will like Sengoku Basara 4 more than whatever Shin Sangoku Musou has to offer me.

              • PrinceHeir

                ehh is that so :(

                what was the difference though?

i know Basara series focuses more on skills and customizable weapons, but other than that?

also i forgot to mention Onechanbara Z Kagura!!

                definitely getting that!

                • TetsuyaHikari

Honestly? I’m more familiar with Japanese history than Chinese and/or Romance of the Three Kingdoms, so I enjoy Basara more because of this. Plus, Basara always has a more vibrant feel to it. It’s more colorful, ya know?

                  I like that in games.

                  • PrinceHeir

well why not Samurai Warriors as well?

but i think the combo system and artstyle(lots of colourful armors) that attracts you more on the series :P

the warrior series keeps getting darker and darker each installment XD

                    • TetsuyaHikari

Naaaaaaah. I’ve never cared for Samurai Warriors either because their representation of the characters never clicked with me. Too realistic.

EDIT: Basara kind of pokes fun at itself while still trying to maintain some historical accuracy, which is why I like it.

                    • PrinceHeir

but you have to agree the female characters are hot as hell O___O

                    • TetsuyaHikari

Nah. I don’t care for the females in any of those games, really, haha.

          • HeroOfGames16

I’d love to buy Chrono Phantasma, but I’ve a hunch that within 8 months, we’ll hear about Chrono Phantasma Super Ultra Deluxe Edition just like how we get a new P4A game with just a new character or two.

SRW OG: Infinite Battle is so much win to me that I really wanna import it ASAP. And if I got some cash left, J-Stars Victory VS would be neat as well… whenever that game comes.

      • Budgiecat

You can skip Lightning Returns Final Fantasy

        • TetsuyaHikari

I found these scans on a blog called Mecha Guy. I can see Daizengar, as if I should have worried about not seeing him :D.

    • TetsuyaHikari

He was already featured in the debut trailer anyway .-.
